Technical Landscape For Utilities

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone had any learning points or gotcha's for designing the SAP for Utilities Technical Landscape. OUr project consists of  CTI/IVR ,TOU, Retailer, Billing, Web integration . We currently run SAP FI, AM, HCM, and are looking to add CRM/I SU next Winter. I assume most information is passed between systems using PI ? If anyone has any info on the CRM middle ware piece or project suprises, I would be happy to know! Thanks.

Hi
All sales and marketing activities from the customer service area of IS-U have been transferred to CRM. Analyses previously performed in IS-U now run in BW.
CRM performs all activities relating to customer interaction. Various channels, such as call centers, Internet and laptops can be used to communicate with customers. Data objects are synchronized via the Middleware and exchanged with the backend and analysis systems.
CRM: Customer Interaction System
CRM is the front-end system used for interaction with the customer. It contains the full range of functions from the areas of marketing, sales, and customer retention. CRM supports communication with customers via a number of channels:
·        Internet
Integration of Web-based applications (Internet sales and marketing) in the CRM system.
·        Contact center
Integration of telephony systems in CRM via CTI interface. All call center scenarios are fully telephony-compatible.
·        Mobile clients
The most important data and functions contained in CRM are accessible via laptop in offline applications. Data is synchronized with the online system via the Middleware.
IS-U: System for Device Management, Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable, Billing, and Invoicing
IS-U is the backend system. Information on new customers is not transferred to IS-U until a contract has been concluded with the customer. It contains all the data and transactions for the following areas: device management, contract accounts receivable and payable, billing, and invoicing.
These areas cover the installation of devices, calculation and request of budget billing amounts, entry of meter reading results, billing, invoicing, generation payment requests, and monitoring of payment receipts.
BW: System for Analyses, Planning, Monitoring, and Success Checks
BW: When integrated, serves as instrument for analyses, planning, monitoring, and success checks. BW enables you to gather information from any system (CRM, FI, IS-U as well as external systems) in InfoCubes and evaluate them based on your requirements. Furthermore, these analyses are not restricted to one InfoCube; you can use any number. For each SAP solution, SAP supplies specific BW contents. These provide the necessary conditions for importing data into BW; they also contain predefined reports and analyses that you are free to enhance.  These contents are filled by extractors that transfer the data from the various systems to BW.
Data Synchronization between CRM und IS-U
Both IS-U and CRM can operate independently and in combination with external systems. This necessitates the existence of central objects in both systems. In an integrated scenario, there are a few objects that are synchronized via the Middleware since they must be available in both systems. The integrated scenario SAP CRM and SAP IS-U supports the automatic synchronization of the following objects:
·        Business partners and their contract accounts
·        Contracts
·        Connection objects and points of delivery
·        IS-U contacts in CRM activities
To ensure data consistency and transparency, changes to objects in one system are immediately synchronized in the other system.
For more information see the cookbooks IS-U/CRM Integration of Technical Objects,
https://websmp208.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700000039982009E/Vertragsintegr_Dez08_e.pdf
The replication of business partner and business agreement is carried out by the CRM standard. For this please refer to CRM Middleware config best practices C71_BB_ConfigGuide_EN_DE.doc.
For the replication of the other data from SAP CRM in SAP IS-U, the IS-U master data generator  plays an important role:
u2022        Technical objects such as points of delivery must be replicated from SAP CRM into SAP IS-U. Master data templates with the template category CRMTECHOBJ are used for this purpose.
u2022        During the replication of the CRM contract items, contracts must be created in SAP IS-U, among other things. These data changes are made in SAP IS-U with master data templates of the category CRMNEWCONTRACT.

  • HCM in an SAP for Utilities Landscape

If HCM were required in a Landscape running SAP for Utilities should HCM be run in the same ECC instance running Utilities or its own instance?
I appreciate that the answer may not be a simple yes/no but some guidance on the factors to take into consideration would be appreciated.
Many thanks in anticipation of a reply.

    Narasimha,
many thanks for you reply.  It's the assertion in your reply that IS-U "stands on a separate server" that I'm trying to understand.  Is it always the case that IS-U should run on it's own ECC implementation?
My understanding of the  switch framework is that you could run multiple cross industry solutions but only ever one industry solution on the same ECC in which case it should be okay for IS-U to run on the same ECC as HCM, but I'm relatively new to this so may have got the wrong end of a stick somewhere!

  • Two entries for every technical system for XI in SLD

    Hi,
Last weekend we had a patch upgrade in our Production env for SAP PI system.
After that we got the Cache error (Cache notification from Integration Directory failedError when accessing the System Landscape Directory) in RWB -- "Cache Connectivity Test -> IR -> ID -> Adapter Engines".
    And
In SLD->Technical Systems->all (Adapter Engine, Integration Directory, Integration Repository, RWB).
    e.g.:There are two Adapter Engines:
    Adapter Engine on p80.p80xxxxx
    and
    Adapter Engine on p80.p80xxxxx\p80
Our Basis team contacted SAP for help & SAP has suggested as below.
"We compared the SLD->Technical Systems for QA (Q80) and PROD (P80), and found that for the production box (P80), each XI component is registered Twice.
Now as per the note 764176, we have to delete the entries in the SLD -> Technical Systems. And these will be re-created after a restart.
Could you please let us know whether these have been maintained for any special reason or we can go ahead and delete them."
If you have any idea if those two should be maintained or not, please suggest how to proceed.
    Thank you & Best regards,
    Farooq.

    Hi Farooq,
I have faced the same issue and got resolved by 764176.
you can go ahead and implement the note 764176 which will resolve your issue.

  • BI dual landscape for upgrades

We recently built a dual / parallel landscape for our BI system to support a support stack upgrade.   I've used the dual landscape concept for many years when doing ERP upgrades, and it has worked very well.   We thought a dual landscape for BI would work also.   However, we did not consider the automatically generated objects in BI.
What we found is that with 2 development systems, even though BI objects are created with the same logical name, the technical (generated) name will be different between the 2 systems.
Has anyone successfully implemented a dual-landscape for BI?   If so, how did you syncronize the technical names of objects between development systems without transporting the objects from one development system to the other?   Note: I'm of the opinion that you need to be extremely careful transporting objects between systems with different release/support pack levels and therefore avoid it at all costs . . .  Note 1090842 + several bad experiences.   Therefore, I am very unlikely to consider transporting the objects created in PSD to RLD as a valid solution.
The following is just an attempt to better describe the issue:
Production support landscape looks like this:
PSD  ->  BWP   (these systems have lower release/SP levels than the systems in the release landscape)
    Release landscape looks like this:
    RLD  ->  RLQ    -
    >  Changes will eventually go to BWP after release/SP upgrade in BWP
Lets say queryA must be developed and transported to BWP prior to the release/SP upgrade in BWP.
In PSD queryA is created and gets assigned technical name 123456 and is transported to BWP.
In RLD queryA also gets created, but gets assigned technical name ABCDEF.
Sometime after the release/SP upgrade, when you are back to a single landscape (RLD -> RLQ -> BWP), a change needs to be made to queryA.   When you transport queryA to BWP, you end up with 2 queryA's, one with technical name 123456 and one with technical name ABCDEF.

Hey.  I worked for years in a dual landscape environment and at one point, some folks were actually looking at three paths all pointing to production.  The three path idea got squashed fairly quickly, but we had two landscapes for as long as I can remember.  So we essentially had:
    PAD --> PAQ --> Prod
    PBD --> PBQ --> Prod
This was very helpful to be able to work on major releases and upgrades while still allowing weekly maintenance releases.  I never looked for a document that deeply discussed the concept and pitfalls to watch out for.
I will say the system synch-up could often become quite a pain.  This may sound a little crazy but we would transport from landscape A to landscape B but dual code from B to A.  This was because A was for the triannual major releases and upgrades and B was maintenance work.  There were times when we would transport both ways, but we tried to stay away from that (except for queries).
The idea was that anything that went to prod as maintnenance, out of B, should be dual coded in parellel in A.  Then once a tri-annual type release went from A, all those new transports and dual coding would be moved to B.  This is how we kept everything in synhc and it worked rather well.  You always had to be careful around the time of the tri-annual go live, but that's to be expected.
The only objects we had constant problems with werre queries.  I don't know of anything you can do about that.  We eventually decided to always transport queries between the two landscapes.  We would never manually dual code a query.  We would eventually get the duplicate query issue in production.  The pitfall here is if the same query is getting touched for maintenance and a major release... that was just something we had to workaround.  But we never had any major problems with transporting between the two landscapes.  The times it became a huge headache is when people would forget to dual code, or just plain to a bunch of prototyping in one of these environments when they should have been using a sandbox.
Not sure if I have answered your question, but hope this helps in some way.  At least you know plenty of us feel your pain!

  • Configuration of Technical Landscape in SLD

    Hi,
I am trying to do what is said in "SAP Exchange Infrastructure 3.0 Installation" guide page (38). It is for maintaining the product forthe Technical System.
    It says as follows....
Item #1 In the System Landscape Directory pageon your SLD host, Choose Technical Landscape. ( I did this, and it works )
Item # 2 In the <i><b>NAME</b></i> column choose the technical system that you have created above for the integration Server.  ( there is no column name <i><b>NAME</b></i>,and the actual screen on WEB AS6.40 is different/  Can somebody help?? Is there a new document that I need to refer to for this configuration? The guide(SAP Exchange Infrastructure 3.0 Installation)  I have has a June 04 date. What am I doing wrong here? I followed the instruction on doc to configure the tech system, but I am not getting through.
Please somebody guide...Any help would be greatly appreciated....I am be very well looking at an old doc??
    Thanks
    Shaji

    Michal,
All the configuration were correct, and I followed the same instrucations, but it was not showing the <i><b>NAME</b></i>.  I stop and start the server 2 times, and then its there !!!.
Solved by itself. But now I came across another issue. I am trying to do RFC destination (SM59)in XI central instance Client 000. I am able to complete the Technical Settings, but when I go to Security/Logon Tab, and select Basic Authentication, I am not able to enter the userID, Password, and the client information. Its grayed out.
Any help would be a greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Technical Details for TM

    Hello,
Kicking off with my first TM thread.
I am a technical consultant for SAP and have been working on an implementation project for around 2 years. Now client has introduced TM in landscape and we have some conversions coming in followed by other RICEFs.
I have been reading materials about TM on SDN and help.sap.com. The functional overview is good but I couldn't find technical details. I know a few technical things like it is completely SOA enabled, overview of /bobf/conf_ui transaction.
Please help me understand the technical aspects of this module like how data is stored here, how to access it, how to look for some fields and tables, how are business objects here different from those in ECC.
I have a program to convert scales that has been sent by SAP as a sample. Program uses a lot of classes, none of these classes have documentation available.
Any kind of help about these topics is appreciated. If you have pdf files, then please send them to my e-mail, mentioned in my business card.
    Regards,
    Anuaag

    Hi,
I am a functional consultant in TM but following may be helpful :-
SAP Transportation Management uses different technical components for different requirements. e.g.
    1. Webdynpro ABAP : If you want to modify/ build NWBC User Interface. You can design/ change NWBC layout, re arrange fields in business object, add your fields to existing object, etc. After you have done modification to Business Objects, you have to modify corresponding BOPF (Business Object Processing Framework) structure.
    2. ABAP OOPS : Used to write enhancements, BADI implementation, Queries, ALV reports, etc
    3. ADOBE : SAP Transportation Management supports Adobe (interactive) forms. Standard forms are available in Adobe forms format. You can develop custom forms such as Bill of Lading, Delivery Notes, Confirmation Messages, etc using Adobe. Form design is done in Adobe and the Business Objects / Business Object Fields are linked to Adobe form Fields.
    4. XI : Interfacing is supported via XI interfaces. Core interface is available between ERP and SAP TM
    5. BI: Business Intelligence reports can be developed. Standard content for few report is provided by SAP
    6. EDI messages : SAP TM can send and receive EDI messages

  • Technical Specifiaction for the ABAP HR Functional Spec

HI Please help me to write a technical spec for the below functional spec.
    As-Is Business Process
Duplicate Performance, Development and Career Plans are being created.  Forms have been created with incorrect validity dates.  Some people that should have forms don’t and some that should not have forms do.  We have no easy way to periodically audit for these situations.
    To Be Business Process
Audit report to be run via the SRET report tree to check for duplicate plans, incorrect validity dates, and actives that are missing forms as well as terms that have forms that are not in completed status.   Should be able to save selections as a variant.
    Selection Screen
Use selection screen from YAUMI tcode as a base model.  We only need the top bar, the selection section,, and a section for  invalid data edits, which will be modified as shown below.  Additionally, there should be a section to choose templates.
    Template section:
This section can be modeled after the selection screen in program Y_HRHAP_PDPGEN.  Each template is selected via drop down, and the plan end year is entered.  Drop down to choose template that shows form name. For development and career, the expected end year is 9999, which would be entered in the year for those 2 templates.  For the Performance plan, the current year is the end year, and would be entered.
    Invalid Data Edits section:
       Checkboxes for:
    1)     duplicate plans
    2)     invalid validity dates
    3)     missing plans for active
    4)     terms with non completed plans
    Logic
Include the templates selected above for associates with the chosen selections.
If duplicate plans checkbox is selected –
If the plan year end on the screen is 9999, see if there is any associate that has more than one of this template in status not equal to ‘Complete’.  If so, output to audit report.
If the plan year end on the screen is less than 9999 (i.e. 2007), then see if there is any pernr that has more than one of this template in a status that is not equal to ‘Complete’ with an validity end date of 12/31/yyyy  (where yyyy is the year on the selection screen).  If so, output to audit  report.
If invalid validity dates is selected –
If the plan year end on the screen is 9999, see if there is any pernr that has that template in status not equal to ‘Complete’ with an end date not equal to 12/31/9999.  If so, output to audit report.
If the plan year end on the screen is less than 9999 (i.e. 2007), then see if there is any pernr with that template in status not equal to ‘Complete’ with an end date = 12/31/9999, or with an end date with a month and day not equal to 12/31.  If so, output to audit report.
If missing plans for active is selected –
See if there are any people in the selected population that do NOT have any of the selected templates in a status not equal to ‘Complete’  If so, output to audit report.
If terms with active plans  is selected –
See if there are any people in the selected population that DO  have any of the selected templates in a status not equal to ‘Complete’  If so, output to audit report.
    Output
          Appraisee Pernr
          Appraisee Name
          Template name
Validity Dates – begin date and end date
          Status / Substatus
          Appraiser Pernr
          Appraiser Name
          Message :
              Duplicate plan
              Invalid Validity End Date
              Missing plan
              Plan not completed.
For missing plan error, the fields for validity dates, status/substatus, appraiser pernr and appraiser name will be blank.
    Thanks

  • Error While Creating Technical System for SNC

    Hi There,
I am trying to create technical system for SNC in SLD, I am not able to seee SNC as a s/w component/product in the list.
when I checked the list of components in SLD, I found SNC is there under product "SCMSNC" but this product is not in the list of products.
Please help me how I can get "SCMSNC" product in the product list.
    Thanks,
    Nishant

Can you please explain it little bit clearly?
I think you first create product, then SWC and then try to create Technical system.
While you will create the Technical system, in the last step it will ask you for installed products.
There you can specify ur product.
    Thanks,
    Hetal

  • Technical system for idoc

i am doing a file2idoc scenario.i want to crete a technical system as web-as-abap.but we are having ecc6.0.here  we are having both abap & xi .here those are having  different host name.here in this scenario i am using idoc as receiver system.so will i use hostnbame of abap or xi in  technical system(web-as-abap)??

    Hi Michal,
    Thanks for reply.
Regd Logical System, i did like this.
    T-Code: SALE
Copied 'Logical System' name which is assigned for Client 800.
    and While creating SLD,
Technical System: ( for Receiver IDOC)
    1.Web As ABAP
2.Web AS ABAP Name (SID): FIC ( i don't know where to find SID , somebody asked me to give my R/3 System name.
Note:Other guy told me like this to find SID, T-Code:SM51
There will be name Seperated by 2 Underscores, the part next to 2nd underscore is SID. So, in my R/3 System, its like FIC_FIC_00, but when i tried to give 00 as SID, its not accepting, so i gave FIC)
    Installtion Number:    (i gave)
    Database hostname: FIC
    3. In next page Instance Number:00
    4. In next page Host Name: FIC and clicked Add
    5. Client: 800
Logical System: T90CLNT090 ( which is from T-Code Sale)
    Business System:
    1. New_BS_IDOC
    2. Selected the Technical System created above.
Still cannot find in "Adapter Specific Identifiers"
<i>>>>you need to have logical system for your r3 business system (which you put in header mapping - sender service of the receiver agreement)</i>
do i need to provide, receiver Buss System for Sender Service of Receiver Agreement?
and i looked at weblog given, i am unable to find anything under T-Code IDX2, its empty..
    Any Sugg?

  • Setting up development landscape for E Commerce R/3

    Hi Experts,
Need some good document reference for setting up our landscape for E Commerce 5.0.
I have gone through lot of documents and information but nothing consolidated about best practices to follow while doing so,
In our landscape we will have R/3 DEV, QA and PROD (All ready there) AND
3 corresponding AP 7 boxes for IPC and WAS (to deploy ISA java components)
The missing link in this is how best to use NWDI to talk to the 3 AP systems.
Q1 . Should we have 1 separate Box which has NWDI installed or can we use AP7 box for DEV to also use that for NWDI. (In this case on 1 BOX we will have IPC, WAS/ISA and NWDI.. so worried about performance)
Q2 Just in case itu2019s advisable to have a different BOX for NWDI, then how to configure NWDI to have all the 3 different AP 7 Boxes as part of development landscape to deploy ISA java applications from DEV to QA to PROD environment.
    Thanks and regards,
    Dips

    Thanks for the reply.
My client says they dont have a QA environment. So they just have DEV and PROD. Since its a very small setup, We want to setup NWDI just for DEV and then PROD. Is it possible to not have QA ?

  • Understand the technical base for Enterprise Services?

    Hi all,
I am trying to understand what is the technical base for enterprise services and the restrictions when activating them. The best documents I have found are:
Note 1566412 u2013 Enhancement package 6 for SAP ERP 6.0.
Note 1359215 u2013 Technical prerequisites for using enterprise services
sdn blog u201CDetermin the SOA readiness of your System with the ES Workplace (Part 1 and 2)
    EHP Master Guide - https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001183052011E
The documents are quite informative, however there are still questions. Maybe someone can shed some light of these:
1.) Is my understanding correct that Enterprise services can have three different base u201Cmodulesu201D?:
    a. An EHP (with relation to a business function).
    b. The swc u201CESA ECC-SE 60xu201D (without relation to a business function). E.G. ES Bundle "Bank Communication Management".
    c. The SWC u201CSAP APPLu201D (without relation to a business function). E.G. u201CBusinessPartnerERPUpdateRequestConfirmation_Inu201D
2.) Is it possible to activate enterprise services (bundles) that rely on business functions after a EHP installation or ONLY during the EHP installation?
3.) Is it possible to activate enterprise services with base u201CESA ECC-SE 60xu201D after a EHP installation or ONLY during the EHP installation?
4.) Is SWC u201CESA ECC-SE 60xu201D a u201Ctechnicalu201D business function, whose activation cannot be reverted either? If yes what effect has the activation von u201CESA ECC-SE 60xu201D on the current ERP customizing?
5.) How do the Enterprise Services relate with Service Interface definitions from SAP Process Integration (XI Content)?
Do I need the XI Content with the service interfaces in ES Repository (and SPROXY) only if the communication is B2B (with PI) or also if the communication is Point-2-Point (without PI)?
    Thanks for your feedback!
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
I'll try and provide answers where I can...
1.) Is my understanding correct that Enterprise services can have three different base u201Cmodulesu201D?:
I personally don't agree with this understanding. Enterprise Services would always relate to some or other business function, unless we have a different understanding of what "Business Function" means . What changes is how the Enterprise Services (or versions of them) are delivered.
SAP APPL for example would be relevant to most of the enterprise services shipped with a standard ECC EHP*. So it will relate to the business functionality for the applications that are shipped with an ECC installation.
2.) Is it possible to activate enterprise services (bundles) that rely on business functions after a EHP installation or ONLY during the EHP installation?
I don't understand this question but I'll try and offer a generic answer. You can activate/use Enterprise Services whenever you want to as long as they are already available in your current installation. If they are only available in an EHP that you don't have yet then you will need to upgrade (but I also seem to recall some workarounds - SAP notes - as an alternative to upgrading).
3.) Is it possible to activate enterprise services with base u201CESA ECC-SE 60xu201D after a EHP installation or ONLY during the EHP installation?
You decide when you would like to activate it, it's generally after. SAP will ship them anyway.
4.) Is SWC u201CESA ECC-SE 60xu201D a u201Ctechnicalu201D business function, whose activation cannot be reverted either? If yes what effect has the activation von u201CESA ECC-SE 60xu201D on the current ERP customizing?
There is a tool call Impact Analyzer, read up a little on it. It allows you to do an impact analysis before activating. It might also help posting a separate thread on of the ECC functional forums here on SCN for more impact analysis. I'm not sure if the activation can be reverted.
5.) How do the Enterprise Services relate with Service Interface definitions from SAP Process Integration (XI Content)?
The XI Content is the design equivalent of the Enterprise Services as you see them in SPROXY. It's only relevant in certain cases, examples:
    - If you want to enhance standard SAP Enterprise Services
    - If you want to do additional transformation/s & routing.
If you are planning P2P type communication, then the XI content is not relevant. One thing to be aware of though is if you have your backend ECC system connected to your PI ESR, the view that you get in SPROXY will reflect the SWC view of the ESR. So you might want to download the XI Content & import it into your PI ESR anyway.
