Tektronix TDS 2024.

Bonjour,

Merci.
Cordialement.

  • PCMCIA 5102 not compatible in windows 7, USB equivalent / Tektronix TDS 2024B usage

    Hello,
I am given a 8.5 labview program that works in windows xp and uses PCMCIA 5102 digitizer card for signal acquistion and showing it in graphs.
we are converting that code to LV2012 and win 7.
i just found out that the pcmcia 5102 is not supported in win 7 anymore and is showing niscope error and cannot install any drivers for it.
we are using the 4 channels on it (ch0,ch1, trigger, clock) and these cards are also obsolete.
is there a USB equivalent for it or even 3rd party with labview drivers, ni has all the usb new ones that have only 3 inputs. how to solve this problem?
we have tektronix tds2024b, how can i use this as an equivalent to PCMCIA 5102 and acquire and show on labview graphs real-time. I didnot program any instrument before ..
one thing observed is that the oscilloscope graphs cho, ch1, trigger nicely even though i removed the clock input. i donot understand the use of clock input if it can graph all the three signal as expected without clock. is that clock only required when using a NI digitizer?
    plz help.
    Thanks

    Hey freemason,
You are correct that the PCMCIA 5102 is not compatible with Windows 7, however we do have the USB-5132 and USB-5133 which have a USB connection and should be (if the program uses the NI-SCOPE driver) a drop-in replacement.  They do not have the PFI lines that the 5102 does, but it sounds like you were only using that as an external clock and the 5132/3 have a 50MHz/100MHz internal clock respectively that is both faster and more accurate than the internal clock on the 5102.
There are also PCI options if you do need those PFI lines.
As for whether you can use the Tek TDS2024b as a replacement: As Dennis said, unless you used the IVI driver in the program, there will be a lot of work to convert the code to use that scope.  There is a driver for it, and if you're ever interested if a driver exists for a 3rd party instrument, you can go to the following link and search; the Tektronix TDS series is first in the list of most popular drivers.
    http://www.ni.com/downloads/instrument-drivers/
Finally, that PCMCIA card has a 20MHz clock inside of it that you should be able to use for a sample clock, so an external clock isn't required.  If you had a more accurate clock you wanted to use or maybe if you wanted to synchronize the card with another one, that would be the main reason to use an external clock source.
    Hope this helps!

  • Delay-problems with Tektronix TDS 2014

We have downloaded the drivers for Tektronix TDS 2014 and connected the oscilloscope with a signal generator. We are using 5 or 6 different vi's, but the "Read Waveform To Array.vi" and "Read Waveform to File.vi" is using more than 6 or 7 seconds. The other vi's are quite fast. What could be the reason for this delay? We need our program to respond a lot faster than this, so we hope someone can help us! Thank you in advance!

Some of the time spent would certainly depend on the size of the waveform you're transfering and to some extent on the actual gpib board you're using (older and cheaper gpib boards have a slower transfer rate). The VI is also doing a few other things besides just the waveform transfer. It is requesting the waveform preamble each time and you might want to try skipping that and just issuing the CURVE? command to see how long it takes just for the waveform transfer itself.

    Bonjour,

  • How to draw the waveform for Tektronix TDS 500?

    Hi,
I am working on drawing the 2 waveform graphs for Tektronix TDS 500 by using Labview 6.0. Does any one have any experience and tell me or could you please provide an example ? Thanks a lot.

    Hi Dennis,
Thanks for your answer. But the programs download from the website that you provide dosen't work. I compiled my own program, and I just want to display the waveforms of the TDS 520D on my labview program on my computer.
The attachment is my program. Before I use GPIBREAD, I send some commands using GPIBWRITE. The commands is from GETWFM.C download from
    http://www.tektronix.com/site/sw/search/1,1058,,00.html?page=3&sort=&mode=search&pcat=oscilloscopes&pseries=tds500&KW=&cname=
But what I get is some wierd codes, neither string nor number. Could you please help me out? Thanks

  • Instrument driver for Tektronix TDS 640A

Is there an instrument driver available for the tektronixs TDS 640A. The Labview version is 5.1.

Here you can find Instrument Drivers: http://zone.ni.com/idnet97.nsf/browse/ but the most drivers are for LabVIEW 6 or higher. So you should update your LabVIEW-Version.

  • Problems with getting waveform using tektronix tds 6604

    hello,
i'm using the scope tds 6604 with tektronix
    lv-driver (TKTDS6K) under lv 6.0.2.
I always want to read the displayed waveform via GPIB.
This is not a problem. The waveform and the scales are correct. BUT if I stop the aquisition on the scope
Run/Stop-Button) and then change the time- or
amplitude-scale or the position of the graph on the scope, I read the correct waveform but the scales are incorrect. I tested it for a while but I could not see a system. Perhaps do I have to use some mathematical operations with the array, in order to receive again the correct scalings and positions?
    thanks in advance, sven

without looking at the actual LabVIEW driver, my guess would be that the VI's graph settings are obtained by the VI that you use to programatically set vertical and horizontal settings of the scope. If you manually change the scope, the capture waveform VI has no idea what the settings are because all it does is retrieve the waveform and doesn't do a query to get updated scope settings. If mixing program and manual control is soemthing that you need to do, you'll have to add the code to query the scope for it's settings. Most drivers don't have these queries because typically, only the program is in control.

  • I would like to know which instrument driver works for the Tektronix TDS 544A

I am trying to use TDS544A with CVI and downloaded the driver for TDS 540 and it didnt seam to work... should it? If not, which one will???

    Hello,
Well, it appears that you are correct in that it must be somewhat different since you are getting the errors you described. Since that is the case and we don't have an instrument driver for that particular instrument, I would recommend one of two things. Try to modify the existing instrument driver to send the commands that your instrument expects, or make regular Visa calls to communicate with your instrument.
Also, I would encourage you to submit a request for the specific instrument driver you are interested in. I cannot guarantee when or if it will be created, but they will evaluate what can be done and get back to you. You can submit that request here:

    Hi VISluth!
Is your instrument set to allow external control? You can find information about this in the instrument manual.
Also, while looking into the TDS 220, I found the following webpage which could suggest that you have defective hardware:
    http://www.tek.com/service/safety/tds210-tds220
You could also check for IP between the instrument and your computer.

  • I need an IVI-Driver for a Tektronix TDS 5000

IVI-Scope steptypes from TestStand require an IVI driver for the TDS5000. Any help ?

The driver is not available now, but should be available on the begin 2003. Try use tktds7x4, the command set should be same from 90%. Only ranges will be different. Try use it. For sure try disable cache. If your application will required any ranges which are out of range for this driver. Disable range chacking too. I wrote this driver, so if you will have any troubles, let me know.

  • Multi-channel, well-coded and versatile oscilloscope vi

I'm looking to make a really nice multi-channel (e.g. up to 8 signals or more displayed) "oscillscope" type program in labview. I have a board with 16 analog inputs, and would like to be able to display those (or choose from among them certain ones to display). It'd be great to have triggering, saving to csv format, re-scaling the voltage and time scales, etc... all operating on the fly, similar to a Tektronix TDS 2024 'scope, only with more channels.
I've looked at the examples that ship with Labview, and am familar with state-architecture and such that I'm sure I could make it all... but if someone already has something close to this it'd be a big time-saver.
Anyone have any multi-channel, analog signal aquistion Labview VIs they like, use, or would be willing to share?
    Thanks!
    -Abe

    Hi Abe,
Have you considered using NI-Scope Soft Front Panels?  You can configure your triggering, channels to display, scaling and save to file (though not csv format) all in this interface.  Also, If you haven't already, you may want to check out ni.com/community.  There are several user-posted Labview examples that could come close to what you're looking for.  Hope this helps!

  • Tektronix oscilloscope how to capture signal?

I have a Tektronix TDS 3014 oscilloscope. I connected the RS232 to a USB converter. Now I have it plugged into my laptop. How can I capture the signal of the oscillscope so I can analyze for future project?

Just some details to add to the check list
    1) Have you turned the computer on
    2) I suppose you want to use Labview. Have you installed that on your computer. And actually started the development environment.
Labview is like all software development system. It do have have what is called a learning curve. That mean you can not just install Labview and hope it will work like a magic wand. They have been fewer but some Labview sales people(with a used car salesman attitude)  still like to tell the lie that you can take anybody directly from the street. And they will in 30 minutes understand how to create advanced Labview application. That is wrong. You actually have use Labview as a development system. In order to create working program. Also good questions draw good answers. So why do you not tell us what you have done so far, and why and how you struggle. As a start.
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted
(Sorry no Labview "brag list" so far)

  • How to calculate de area of a waveform in LabView with the oscilloscope Tektronix TDS380

I have a question about a mathematical algorithm. I am using the Tektronix oscilloscope model TDS 380 and since now I have been taking measurements peak to peak, putting in the labview program MEASU: MEAS1: VAL?
I am interested in calculating the area of the waveform, and the instruction manual for the Tektronix TDS 8000 found the command MEASU: MEAS1: TYPE AREA. This command is not in the manual for the model TDS 300 and therefore do not know if you can apply FOR IT. When I insert it I get the error code -1073807339.
My question is: would it be possible to calculate the area with my oscilloscope TDS380 somehow and with LabView? Is it possible to apply the algorithm or can be done differently?

Sorry about not posting. I'm on a business trip right now. Here's the VI, though.

Try this. The error was just because the functions are part of the LabVIEW distribution and had nothing to do with converting the driver.
