Telnet servername 25 doesn't work

Question

I have installed OCS2 and everything works fine (email, calendar), now i want to setup smtp. All my services (smtp_in, smtp_out)are running.
My understanding was that i should have "smtp 25" removed from my /etc/services file and then oracle smtp_in would handle the requests to this port.
Does anyone know why i can not telnet to this port 25?

OK, I have added smtp 25 again.
ocsmt:/u00/app/oracle/product/midtier9041/bin # netstat -an | grep :25
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:25 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
I am running SUSE linux 8.
The listener is started with this command as root.
/u00/app/oracle/product/midtier9041/bin/tnslsnr listener_es -user 500 -group 500 &
this is in the /u00/app/oracle/product/midtier9041/network/admin dirctory and looks like this. Is this correct, are you also running this as root?
