Temperature about Athlon 1800+

hi ,
   I have a new pc, msi k7n2 delta-l with 1800+
but my cpu temp seems too low..
in winxp ,the temp is 20~degree ,the mb temp is 35degree
in bios ,the temp is the same as the mb temp.
  what's the problem?
when i used epox 8rda+, the cpu temp is 40~degree,

Expirienced exactly the same problem. Got an AMD 2500+ Barton and K7N2-L mb.
Before I updated bios, cpu temp was about 55°C and in the description of the bios-update was written "Modify CPU temperature detection".
I did not expect it would lead to that result: my cpu-temperature is shown by about 30°C and system temperature about 40°C, which made me think the sys and cpu temp were mixed up as well.
I'm a bit worried now, because I don't know the "true" cpu temp at all now.
And a question: What bios version does the repair disk - that can be made before bios-flashing - bring back?
The one that was before flashing or a default one?
Does anyone know? Please help.
Greetz,
Ozz

I ve 1800+. When I adjust 133fsb and auto multiplier it shows 1.53. It is ok when I adjust 133fsb and 10x when I push the start it runs but not start. no bip.
Same thing happens when I adjust auto mult. and fsb greater than 133.
What will I do to reach higher than 1.53 ghz
I ve a friend runs his com 1850 with his athlon 1700+
he did not do anything different just adjusted.
Is my cpu locked? how can I unlock Please give me a name of the web that explain how to do it well (english).

Your heatsink isn't exactly the best thing for overclocking.
Your RAM is only 266MHz so if you set the FSB over 133 it is being overclocked as well.
If your CPU is 0.18 then it's very bad for overclocking and neesd to be unlocked to change the multiplier.

My Time Capsule won't allow me to access my home wireless network for several hours each day -- usually between 1000-1830 or so. My modem is working correctly and I can still get on-line by going straight from my computer (MacBook Pro) to the Ethernet port. It must be the Time Capsule -- any ideas?

    Any ideas?
    Wireless Interference
Might be caused by a cordless phone in the vicinity. To give you an example, my neighbor.....across the street...used to be able to literally crash my wireless network if he was in his front yard talking on his cordless phone.
I discovered this by accident one day after spending weeks trying figure out why my network would crash at random times.
Other possibilities include a wireless security/camera system near you
Still other things might be an amateur ham radio operator....which should not interfere....but again from experience, I know that this can occur.
Yet another possibility is another wireless network near you that is being turned on and off at random times. Some users power up their modem/router only when they want to do so and leave it off otherwise.
Some general rules to help avoid interference:
Move any cordless phones that you might have as far away as possible from the Time Capsule and/or your computer(s)
Avoid placing other electronic devices....computer, television, amplifier, satellite receiver, etc. near the Time Capsule and/or your computer(s)
Avoid metal surfaces near the Time Capsule and/or your computers
Elevate the Time Capsule as much as possible. Think of it as a water sprinkler....you want to get the room as wet as possible
Experiment with different wireless channels on the Time Capsule. To do this:
    Open AirPort Utility
    Click on the Time Capsule
    Click Edit
    Click the Wireless tab
    Click Wireless Options
Start with Channel 11 on the 2.4 GHz band and work your way down
It is unlikely that you are picking up interference on the 5 GHz band since there are.....for now at least.....far fewer networks using this frequency.

  • Ms 6378 ver 3.0 or what / lock up Athlon XP 1800

     :O
I too have a MS-6378 notherboard. Version 3.0. I am running a Athlon 1800 XP with 256 MB ram. I have a problem that my computer lockup everyonce in a while. Sometimes I could be surfing the net or the next just typing a letter on word. I know I can not play any games because that is a automatic lock up. I tried to uninstall the on board graphics and install my Nvida TNT 64 Pro. No way computer lock up on boot up. For those of you thast are having video problems, can you see the first screen at all. If you can make sure you go in to your bios and change the video to AGP. Yes I know that you don't have a AGP slot but MSI considers that on board video junk a AGP graphics card, I guess. Any way MSI says on their page realease for the ms-6378 that only Version 2.1 supports Athlon 1800 XP cpu's. My book says the one I have does. What gives?????? I amn tired of frequent lock ups. I has nothing to do with heat. It can lock on boot up or sometimes after 12 hours of sitting here. SOme please help me. If anyone needs help let me know. May I hqave been through that as well and can help.

Hey buddy, I have a similiar problem with my computer.  What happens is that my CPU overheats extremely bad and locks up.  I don't know what's happening.  My computer is a MSI board, not sure which since I sold it already with a T-Bird 800.  It say in the bios that the heat is as high as 55 C or 110 F.  I been using my system for 2 years now (sometimes I leave it on 24/7), and it just suddenly happened one day.  I know it doesn't have anything to do with my CPU or FAN, cause I replaced both of those (I also use termal grease).  I was using Windows XP, than I switched back to Windows 98 SE, same thing happen.  Sometimes I just want to boot up and it will lock up.  I would format and it would lock up half way too.  If anyone knows whats happened to my computer, please let me know! Thanks.

  • K7T266 Pro2 won't recognize my AMD 1800 Athlon...

I just bought a K&T266 Pro2 V2.0 mobo and I have the latest bios V3.7 on it, it doesn't boot up with my AMD Athlon 1800 but did with an AMD 1333 Athlon. I tried clocking at 100 mhz and 133 mhz, but neither worked. Is the AMD Athlon 1800 an XP or not? I know the board only supports Athlons up to 1.4 ghz but a lot higher with XP cpu's. Thanks

  • My 1800ghz XP athlon only runs at 1533ghz, what a waste!!!

how come that my CPU is only running at 1533ghz but the actual rating is 1800ghz? i did get to run at 1600 by setting the fsb to 140 leave cpu multiplier in H/W which i think is always default to 11.5, however i dont want to leave it that way with FSB at 140 coz i dont want to overclock the FSB for so long that can decrease my system lifespan. how can i increase the clock speed without overclocking the fsb?
the cpu multiplier doesnt seem to change a thing in clock speed I tried setting it to 13x133 but still at 1533ghz
    thanks for replies   :D

  • G555 Temperature problem

    Hi,
got a Lenovo G555 in August 2010. First everything was fine but about December problems startet. As soon as a few things were running (Firefox, Videoplayer, ..) the notebook got pretty hot. So i installed some monitoring software and noticed, that the CPU was about 90 °C. Went up and down if i stopped using the notebook.
Decided to send it to support in Januar 2011. Was there about 10 days or so (pretty fast if i compared this to other people waiting weeks). When it returned, i got told the the problem has been fixed (changed something inside, mainboard or so).
Ok, everythings fine i thought. But now, since a few days, problems return and even more dramatic as before.
When surfing with Firefox and being on a site with flash animation, and having 1-2 Applications in the Background (Thunderbird, Video), the CPU reaches temperatures about 96°C. The question is now:
What can i do? Send it in again? Is the problem known and could be fixed this time? Am i the only person that has this problem?
Checked google for g555 temperature problems but there >nothing<.

  • Satellite 1800-921: built-in aerial behind the display?

Can anybody tell me if the Satellite 1800-921 has a built in aerial behind the display?
    Thanks
    Peter

I suppose you mean some kind of antenna? As far as I know behind the display is placed WLAN antenna for models with supported WLAN connectivity.
I was not able to find any info about Satellite 1800-921 but if the unit is delivered without WLAN I suppose there is no WLAN antenna behind the display. By the way: I believe the whole Satellite 1800 series is delivered without WLAN option.

  • AMD Athlon 2400+ core speed

I have recently purchased a new MSI KT4 Ultra (FISR)
MS-6590 motherboard and an AMD Athlon 2400+ processor.
However the motherboard is only picking up the processor to be an AMD Athlon 1800+. When I go into the bios and look at the CPU core speed it is set to 100Mhz when it should be 133Mhz. I would change this value but it is disabled (greyed out). How can I set my motherboard to use the processor correctly asa 2400+ ?
    Thanks
    Paul

Hi, i have similer problem, i have the same MB and chip the 2400xp and when i put it on 133mhz and 15x multi which is stated on the MSI website and save it in the bios, my monitor light flashes, its like my graphics card is not working, but i can hear my pc booting up, but i just can't see anything, i have updated my graphics card drivers and the bios for the MB but still no luck, i have to clear the cmos to get my monitor back but then the chip speed is back to 1800.
i have a ti4200 8x agp card and i am a little miffed as i didn't buy a 2gig chip to have it running at 1.6gig, does anyone have any idea.

  • Registry errors in win98 - upgrade to Athlon

I have a MS-6330. I was running a Duron 900 and win98 - fine no probs. I've upgraded to an Athlon 1800+ Palomino with 1 stick 128Mb 133 and 2 sticks 64Mb 133. The whole thing boots fine - BIOS checks out OK but windows 98 reports problems accessing the Registry - it fixes the problem and reboots - however the errors remain. I re-installed windows - problem still appears. I've even reformated and installed from scratch - I still have the problem. Any ideas ???

Thanks for all those suggestions. I did go through the troubleshooting guide before posting my problem - it is very usefull - I checked my PSU figures and it seemed up to it, but when in doubt - I got another one which provides 180w combined as recommended elsewhere - the voltage figures did improve slightly in Bios. I re-installed Win98 again after reformatting and ran scandisk - still had the registry problem. So I ran some diagnostic software, first on the CPU no errors showed up. Tried the memory diags but had a problem making it run - however I decided to take out the older 64Mb sticks and run with the newer 128Mb - all the problems have gone - windows managed to fix the registry and I've managed to reinstall a large part of my system. I'll run the memory diag as soon as I find the time. Each stick checked out OK individually at POST when I started rebuilding so I was confident that they were all OK. Are there any rules concerning memory population under windows 98 ?

  • N560GTX-Ti problem with temperature

    Hi,
I am owner of MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC graphic card and I have some problems
with temperature. I don't know if it is normal, but when i turn on my computer, I have temperature about
30°C (running only programs like steam, icq) and when I start some old game like MW2 or CSS, temperature
rises from 30°C to more than 70°C! and I think it is too high. Fan is working on 100%.
I have windows 7/64bit, newest drivers and windows often tells me when I'm playing game that i should change my desktop
to less demanding. I'm not sure if im translating this good :(. Later I can post that warning.
Please, what should I do? It is normal? or should I buy new fan or what? I don't know what to do.
    Thanks for any reply

  • P67A-GD80 uEFI 'BIOS' temperatures reading...

    Hello,
Few weeks ago I finished my PC build, this time I took my time and planned everything to the last screw and nut. My specification is: Sandy Bridge i7 2600K on P67A-GD80, N580GTX Lightning XE and so on (full specs here http://cauldron.net.tvtrinec.cz/PC_prices.txt , do not mind irrelevant items there, this list was in the first place made for me to track the progress, spendings and my budged to the last penny). It went outstandingly well, but there is one thing, that still bounces in my head. Prior to Windows installation, I was fiddling a little bit in the motherboards uEFI BIOS, and noticed significant overheating according to the BIOS readings. With everything set, good aftermarket cooler - Cooler Master V6GT nicely sitting on top of the brilliant piece of 32nm technology - i7 2600K and "sticked" with one of the best thermal compound in the world - Shin-Etsu X23-7783D.
EDIT: Aaah, sorry, I sent it accidentally before completing it... continued
So with this setting, my readings in the BIOS (I flashed the latest BIOS version 10.4) were over 50°C on the CPU, I thought that it was really high, so maybe I did not apply thermal paste properly (Shin-Etsu is known for being really thick and dense), unmounted heatsink, cleaned everything with ArctiClean 1/2 and applied again, this time really perfectly thin layer. This knocked temperatures about 5-8°C down (with 40°C on start building up over time to about 48°C), but still quite high for idling Sandy Bridge on stock clocks and voltages with this setting :| . I was sad, so I ordered many different high performance thermal compounds (as you can see in a link of the specification list above) and solutions, and prepared myself for looong testing session.
Meanwhile I just installed OS Windows 7 Ultimate, and started playing with settings and installing drivers and so. Then I noticed, it was in MSI Control Center, that core temperatures are not that bad (ranging from 26 to 33°C on all cores idle), and the CPU temperature reading in Green Power card there (Control Center) is even 23°C! I started reading and googling, and people often said that BIOS temperatures are somehow faulty, that CPU in BIOS is not really idling and so...
I downloaded some other third party utilities and software (CPUID HWMonitor, SpeedFan, Real Temp...) and temperatures there were similar with MSI Control Center, around 30°C on all cores idle. I just do not know how many sensors there are on the motherboard, and which software I can trust. Temperatures are similar but not exactly the same, and redings from BIOS are completely off.
If you have anything to this topic, share it with me please.
    Jan

Well yeah, that's what people say everywhere, that BIOS puts some load on CPU. But now, in Windows, what software should I trust in showing real temperatures? Or what are people using most? In what software for example you are checking temperatures? And what are "normal" values for each core, motherboard or CPU as a whole?
And one related query, what about those power saving settings in BIOS? Can they change CPU temperature by that many °C? I mean items like EuP 2013, CPU Phase Control, C1E and Intel C-States, EIST or Power Technology. I know that I will probably need to disable them, since I am going to overclock that Sandy Bridge, but I will appreciate some more info on those. Again, I was googling, found some inconsistent info and opinions about "green power" settings and OC, but the more info from more sources, the better... Thank you
