Template Optional region  - BODY TAG

Hi,
Is it possible to make a optional region inside the BODY TAG?
I want place following line inside the body tag (but not on
all pages!!):
onload="load()" onunload="GUnload()" ...(code for Google
Maps).
I tried insert the optional region but DW doesn't seem to
accept it...is there another way around?
Hope someone can help:-)

No.
However, read DW's F1 Help about using Editable Attributes.

  • POSITION OF IMAGE IN TEMPLATE OPTIONAL REGION

    Hi,
    I am new to Dreamweaver and have designed a template with a
    table on my page. Each of 4 template areas are either editable or
    optional regions. In one optional region I have an image. I have
    defined the table to be aligned to the top of the table cell, but
    when the template is applied to the other pages, the image is in
    the middle vertically. I also have it set to be centered
    horizintally, but it stays to the left.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Post a link to the page, please.

  • OnLoad event on Body tag locked by template

    I have a behavior that needs to be called with an OnLoad event. The page I need it on is attached to a template, so the Body tag is not available for editing. What are my options? Thanks!

    If you are using DW>4 (that's DW4, not DWCS4), then investigate using Template Editable Attributes.
    Alternatively you could use some custom javascript in the editable region of the head of the page or even below the </html> tag to create an onload event, e.g.,
    <script type="text/javascript">window.onload=whatever();</script>

  • Is it possible to make the body tag of a template editable?

    I'm having diffuculty with making the body tag an editable region in the template.
    I need to add some onload stuff to a body tag on a page derived from a template. I am not sure if this is possible.
    And if it isn't does anyone know a workaround?
    Thanks

    Never Mind I found this.

  • Template won't let me edit Body tag

    Hi - I would like to add Google maps API to my website
    however I can't change the <body> tag to:
    <body onload="load()" onunload="GUnload()">
    because it is locked through the template. Can't seem to work
    out how to get around this.
    Is there another way to get Google maps to work other than
    changing the body tag?
    Thanks
    Brett Kinross
    P.S. Still fairly new to this!

    Attribute: onload
    Label: monkeybutt
    Type: TEXT
    Default:
    If you leave the default null, then every page will be
    written like this -
    <body onload=""....
    It's not harmful, but it's ugly.
    Open each child page, use MODIFY | Template Properties >
    select monkeybutt
    (or whatever your label is) in the list of editable regions,
    and enter your
    desired content of the onload event.
    Does that help?

  • Edit optional region in template

    I need to edit an optional region in a template so that by
    default the value is "false" for the given region.
    So to do this I:
    - select the region
    - in the 'Properties' window CLICK 'edit'
    - select the 'basic' tab
    - UNCHECK the 'show by defailt' box
    - CLICK 'OK'
    Unfortunately this does nothing. The template does not seem
    to have been altered at all. If I go back in to edit the same
    region the box, which I DEFINITELY unchecked, is CHECKED again.
    Anyone able to offer some insight, please?
    Ideas and thoughts welcome.
    Cheers

    this doc really helped
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_16347
    as it highlights the fact that you can go into the code in
    the <head> tag and change the following (for example) case of
    'true' to 'false':
    <!-- BEGIN SECTION SELECT OPTIONAL AREAS TAGS-->
    <!-- TemplateParam
    name="nav-primary-selected-undergraduate" type="boolean"
    value="true" -->
    Not sure why the 'edit' option in DW wasn't working
    <!-- END OPTIONAL AREAS TAGS-->

  • Creating DW templates - Repeating Optional Region?

    Hello Again:
    I know that it isn't always the best to pose abstract questions on forums, but I am wondering if anyone can tell if/how one can create an optional region within a repeating region of a DW template?
    The specific conundrum I seem to face that if a region has two divs within it (one with and one without a textbox surrounding it, for example) and if the user of the template chooses to repeat the section, how can they delete the second div within the repeated region (deleting through the modify tempate option) without deleting all the previous instances of the div as well.
    If there is a way to do this, I would appreciate some guidance.
    Thanks in advance.
    Steve Webster.

    Yes, and first my apologies, as I could have provided the example first of all.  If you go to  http://socls.org/testing/immigration-refugee_law.html I can perhaps explain my objective better.  On that page you see a series of text boxes one with a gradient background and a second with a only a outline in red.   For the moment ignore the text boxes that are rendered side by side and assume that the 1st two horizontal text boxes are all that I want to repeat throughout the page.
    I want to place the two of those full width text boxes within a repeating region (or turn them into a repeating region).  However if the webmaster needs to add content but doesn't need a pair of text boxes, or otherwise gets to the end of her content sections and doesn't need a final red outlined box, then I would want that the last red outlined box to be optional, without however deleting previous instances.  Sometimes content can't be organized so neatly as to finish with an even number of "content sets".
    I think the bigger problem is, as I understand it, that you can't create two "divs" (in this case text boxes) and have each repeating independently, and allow each to be moved up and down as though they were passing through another text box/div that also constitutes a repeating region.  The only way to have the pattern to repeat is to "pair" them as a single unit (Or perhaps I have misunderstood how the repeating action works ?!?)  I have tried treating them as independent repeating regions and it doesn't seem to work in the manner I would like.  If you tie them together in this way, then the only way to end with an uneven number of text boxes is to make one optional.  But it seems that if you make the second in the pair optional, then by "turning it off", you end up turning all off.
    At least that is how it seems to work.
    You may be right that the design is too complicated to work as a template in this fashion.
    Or, perhaps I am fundamentally mistaken on the architecture of the repeat concept.
    Thanks again for your patience and persistence
    Steve.

  • Need to have option to place html code in body tag

    right now one can place code in the head tag but not the body tag.  that is a needed feature.  for example, to use a counter, like with statcounter.com, you have to place the code in the body tag (at the end they say).  that is not an option with muse.  i am told you need to use an external editor to do that.  I don't want to do that. should be able to do it through muse.  any chance of this being added soon?
    thank you,
    Victoria

    But then won't I have to parse through the entire HTML document to find out where it is linking to?

  • How to create more body tags under one region

    Good Day,

    I wanted to create more than one body tags. How can i create that

    i wanted to create a page that contains in first row only one columns and in second row contains 2 columns. I think i can acheive this by adding another body tag . If there is another simple way to do this kinldy guide

  • Hinding code with Optional Regions

    I am getting an error:
    HERE
    I know why, it is because I have to use: <body
    onload="load()" onunload="GUnload()"> in the line:
    <body class="thrColFixHdr"
    onload="P7_TMclass();P7_TMopen();load()"
    onunload="GUnload()","P7_TMclass();P7_TMopen();MM_preloadImages('images/layout-images/clo se-tabs-over.gif')">
    This is used to display a google map in my 'Location' page
    but this is the only place I need that code and where the map does
    not exist (all other pages) I get the error.
    Is there any way of hiding part of that code in my template?
    I have tried to have two versions of the line with and
    without the map code in 'Optional Regions' but no luck.
    Some expert advice greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Richard

    Yes - well, this is a problem with a template controlled
    page. The body tag
    is NOT editable. You *can* use an editable attribute on the
    body tag for
    the onload attribute, which would allow you to access the
    values associated
    with that attribute on each child page, but it's all-or-none
    in the sense
    that you would have to add the full text of that attribute on
    each child
    page (adding or subtracting the 'load()' call).
    Are you using server scripting on these pages?

  • Change tr bgcolor based on optional region

    Hello, dear DW wizards,
    I would like to automatically change the background color of a table row based upon wether an optional region is visible in a document or not.
    I created an optional region in a template and set its default state to show. In another region I made the tr tag of a table row editable. The default bgcolor for that row is red.
    If the optional region in an html file based on this template is hidden, the bgcolor of the table row should automatically change to blue.
    Is this possible with conditional expressions? I find no detailed info on the programming and don't know Javascript (which DW expression language is similar to).
    Thanks for you help
    Bernhard

    Your best bet with questions like this is to post your code so we can see exactly what is happening.  Nevertheless, the 'guess' answer to your question is "yes" you can do such things with conditional expressions.  You would make the color for the <tr> test the template parameter that controls the visibility of the optional region:
    <tr style="background-color:@@(param==true ? #AAAAAA : #BBBBBB)@@"

  • Making DW CS4 Nested Template Head Region Update to Pages

    Using DW CS4...
    So I made a template, called main_template, and obviously it has an editable region named head. Now from main_template I made the nested template locations_template. Now I have code that I put in the head region of locations_template. This code does not propagate out to pages created from locations_template. I can't place an editable region within the head section in the nested template. How do I solve this problem?

    > 1st: "Error accessing file "...here appears the file
    name/path..." bad
    > file
    > path (error code 3) OKAY
    This usually means you have other files open that may belong
    to templates
    not in the current site. Make sure that you have other such
    files closed
    and you won't get this error.
    > 2nd: When I click the OKAY button I get: "There is an
    error at line 5,
    > Column
    > 35 (absolute position 54) of "...here appears the file
    name/path..." :
    > Nested
    > edible regions.
    This usually means you have an error in the template file -
    we would need to
    see its code to diagnose further.
    > When I check the code at line 5 or 54 I find nothing
    relevant to "Nested
    > edible regions".
    It could be referring to code errors like a missing
    </head>, or <body> tag,
    too.

  • Unbalanced Body Tag on a line that doesn't exist

    I'm receiving an unbalanced body tag error on line 129 and

    ALSO, whenever I create new pages from the template it

    Please advise. (see code attached)

    This REALLY definitely means your page is scrambled. Are you
    using FILE |
    New From Template when you create these new pages?
    Looking at the code below, I can see several anomalies.
    1. There is this unnecessary line - <!-- TemplateInfo
    codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->. Why is it there?
    2. There is NO editable region around the <title> tag.
    3. There is NO editable region in the head of the page in
    addition to #2,
    above.
    These last two are the sign of an improperly made template.
    Do this -
    Create a new page (Basic HTML).
    Use FILE | Save as Template....
    Look at the code in the head region of the page, particularly
    the editable
    region around the <title> tag, and the other editable
    region in the head
    called "head".
    Make your template file look like that.
    Always use FILE | Save as Template when you create your
    templates and you
    won't have this problem again.

  • Template editable regions in head

    Murray - as you always seem to answer questions on Templates:
    I'm troubleshooting a site for a friend who does not frequent
    this
    forum - they have a couple of editable regions in the
    <head> of the
    file - used for some Javascript and also the page title.
    Now I know that a properly formatted template has:
    separate editable region named name="doctitle" - er for the
    title and
    a second editable region named name="head" for other things.
    Does having
    <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="EditRegion12" -->
    in the <head> matter - affect the functionality of Dw
    ??? - I know of
    course that in wouldn't matter as far as the server is
    concerned.
    many thanks

    Thanks Alan - I did think that would be the case - even if
    not what I
    would do.
    No - not 12 editable regions - no idea how that happened - -
    they only
    have three - two in the head and 1 in the body.
    I long ago moved to Dw - and details are hazy - but when I
    did a
    refresh of a site a couple of years ago - I created a brand
    new single
    template using File | New | Blank Template - so all
    superfluous
    nonsense I had generated in the migration from Frontpage was
    eradicated - and unexplained program crashes became a thing
    of the
