Template Problem: Tiling background image gone and duplicate .swf headers

Problem 1: I have been working with a template, and creating
new files from the template without incident. Recently I created a
new file from the template and found that the tiling background
image (dots appearing on the right and left of the page) was gone.
The tiling image is present in the template, but not in files
created from it. Any guess how I broke that?
Problem 2: In my template I have an editable region wherein I
can place a .swf animation. When I upload my page made from the
template, a pair of .swfs appear stacked on top of each other, not
just the single .swf graphic. Any guess what I am doing wrong
there?
The problem page can be viewed here (
Shop
Page), and the template files are located here (
Template
right-click and Save-As).
I appreciate any help you can offer.

This will ALWAYS happen when one of the following obtains:
1. The linked file is OUTSIDE the root of the current site.
2. DW *THINKS* that the linked file is OUTSIDE the root of
the current site
(how could this happen? Here's a for example - the path to
the root folder
looks like this -
C:\whatever\joe's files\blah blah blah\thefilename.jpg
Fix either of those issues, and the problem will go away.
Might that be your problem?

  • Create repeating / tiled background images

    I may have missed this in the previous versions of Adobe Photoshop.
    Is there "a way / or method" to create repeating / tiled background images in photoshop?
    Many times a "tile" for a tiled background is quite small at around 150px x 150px.
    1:
    It would be very nice to be able to work on the tile, be able to zoom in and out of it, and actively see a functioning live tiled background.
    Yes it might be a bit like a kaleidescope, but it would be live and you would see any harshness in the pattern and can remedy glitches it in real time.
    2:
    It would also be very nice to be able to "draw / paint / edit" off the edge of the tile and have the effect carried over to the other side...
    Yes just like in Asteroids.
    I think creating Tiled BG's is a very strong contender for being one of the more frustrating things I do with Photoshop. I hope the above ideas can be added to PS6.
    Just to you you know... DPaint IV for the Amiga did this very well back in 1990'ish.

    There will not be any substantial changes to CS6 to add new features beyond the beta. We are too far along in the process for that. To accomplish what you desire, can you use the pattern feature to tile?  For any new features you wish to request, you can to to this website  http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family  people can vote on the favorite features.
    Pattie
    Use the Rectangle Marquee tool on any open image to select an area to use as a pattern. Feather must be set to 0 pixels. Note that large images may become unwieldy.
    Choose Edit > Define Pattern.
    Enter a name for the pattern in the Pattern Name dialog box.

  • Re: Problem using Background Images

    Newbie is trying to use a background image inside a table. It seems that if the table size is larger that the original image itself; then the table has a blank space where the image does not show; and if the table is smaller than the image; then the background image has a cropped appearance. What do we have to do to correct this problem?

    Background images do not stretch to fill their container.  At least they don't do this yet (reliably).  That's just the way it is.  Most people will fill the remaining space with a color similar to the overall image color, when the image is too small to fill the background.  When it's too large?  Well, that's just the way it is.

  • Problem with Background image and JFrame

    Hi there!
    I've the following problem:
    I created a JFrame with an integrated JPanel. In this JFrame I display a background image. Therefore I've used my own contentPane:
    public class MContentPane extends JComponent{
    private Image backgroundImage = null;
    public MContentPane() {
    super();
    * Returns the background image
    * @return Background image
    public Image getBackgroundImage() {
    return backgroundImage;
    * Sets the background image
    * @param backgroundImage Background image
    public void setBackgroundImage(Image backgroundImage) {
    this.backgroundImage = backgroundImage;
    * Overrides the painting to display a background image
    protected void paintComponent(Graphics g) {
    if (isOpaque()) {
    g.setColor(getBackground());
    g.fillRect(0, 0, getWidth(), getHeight());
    if (backgroundImage != null) {
    g.drawImage(backgroundImage,0,0,this);
    super.paintComponent(g);
    Now the background image displays correct. But as soon as I click on some combobox that is placed within the integrated JPanel I see fractals of the opened combobox on the background. When I minimize
    the Frame they disappear. Sometimes though I get also some fractals when resizing the JFrame.
    It seems there is some problem with the redrawing of the background e.g. it doesn't get redrawn as often as it should be!?
    Could anyone give me some hint, on how to achieve a clear background after clicking some combobox?
    Thx in advance

    I still prefer using a border to draw a background image:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.image.*;
    import javax.swing.border.*;
    public class CentredBackgroundBorder implements Border {
        private final BufferedImage image;
        public CentredBackgroundBorder(BufferedImage image) {
            this.image = image;
        public void paintBorder(Component c, Graphics g, int x, int y, int width, int height) {
            int x0 = x + (width-image.getWidth())/2;
            int y0 = y + (height-image.getHeight())/2;
            g. drawImage(image, x0, y0, null);
        public Insets getBorderInsets(Component c) {
            return new Insets(0,0,0,0);
        public boolean isBorderOpaque() {
            return true;
    }And here is a demo where I load the background image asynchronously, so that I can launch the GUI before the image is done loading. Warning: you may find the image disturbing...
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.net.URL;
    import javax.imageio.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.border.*;
    public class BackgroundBorderExample {
        public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
            JFrame.setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated(true);
            JFrame f = new JFrame("BackgroundBorderExample");
            f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            JTextArea area = new JTextArea(24,80);
            area.setForeground(Color.WHITE);
            area.setOpaque(false);
            area.read(new FileReader(new File("BackgroundBorderExample.java")), null);
            final JScrollPane sp = new JScrollPane(area);
            sp.setBackground(Color.BLACK);
            sp.getViewport().setOpaque(false);
            f.getContentPane().add(sp);
            f.setSize(600,400);
            f.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
            f.setVisible(true);
            String url = "http://today.java.net/jag/bio/JagHeadshot.jpg";
            final Border bkgrnd = new CentredBackgroundBorder(ImageIO.read(new URL(url)));
            Runnable r = new Runnable() {
                public void run() {
                    sp.setViewportBorder(bkgrnd);
                    sp.repaint();

  • Template suddenly losing background image

    Hoping someone can help... here's the situation:
    *  I have been using the same templates in the same site for years
    *  All of a sudden, when I create a new page from a template, the background image does not show
    *   The problem started within a session during which I had already made  several pages, as I always do, with no problems - then, whammo, I  created another new page from the same template and this happened
    *   It happens with every single template in the site, and whether I use the "new  page from template" feature or apply the template to a created page
    * It  persists in archived / back-up versions of the site.  I even tried  upgrading from CS4 to CS5, thinking my copy of DW had been corrupted,  but that didn't fix it.
    Here is a link to a template:
    http://takeroot.org/Templates/blank_side_nav.dwt.php
    Here  is a link to a page spawned from that template, using the "new from  template" feature (which I have used a thousand times with no problems):
    http://takeroot.org/ExampleOfWrongness.php
    I  consulted with an IT friend who suggested I add "repeat-y left top" to  the body tag css that displays the bg image in the template.  That  didn't seem like a full answer since it has never had that line and has  been working just fine for years, but I tried it anyway and the result  was that the background image stopped displaying even in the template.
    Can someone help before I lose my mind?????  My family would be eternally grateful!
    Liss

    1.  The tempkate has the correct path to the image.  Why would the child have a different path?
    For some reason, DW thinks that this image is outside of the root folder.  When that happens, the link is always a file:/// link.  It will work locally, but not on the web.
    2.  Why would it just suddenly, out of the blue, start chosing this different path when 5 seconds earlier it worked as it always has?
    You would have to submit that question to the great OZ to get an answer.
    3.  Even with the new, random path,why wouldn't it display correctly when  previewed locally?
    It's not a random path - it's a correct path to the image is it not?  It should work locally.
    4.  Most important - what should I try next?
    Try opening the child page and applying the template to this page with MODIFY | Templates > Apply Template to Page

  • Problem in dreamweaver - image file and swf file.

    Hi friends.....nice to be here.
    Ahnm, lets start from the beginning! J I am new here and my english isnt so good, but i´ll try to explain what was happening with my webpage using Dreamweaver CS3 and a swf file…..Im sure that for most of you it’s a basic problem with a basic solution, but I didn’t find one…..and I´m new to CS3 too ! J
    I´m creating a simply webpage using 2 frames: Top frame and main frame, but my problem was in top frame.
    I created an image (like a banner) to fill this frame, not background, an image with name company, phone number etc…..My intention was to put some buttons (using flash) in this image……..but NOT in all image…, so I split the image in two….half jpeg file, half a swf file…….joining this images on dreamweaver later…..
    So, on dreamweaver works great……there everthing works perfect…..but on I.E, an BORDER appears, separating the two images
    Well…..better than words, here is the images:
    On dreamweaver

    On I.E. (my problem)
    http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/585/tela3u.jpg
    Guys, I´m sure that was an easy solution………. I hope someone can help me…
    Sorry for my english J

    1) You don't need frames.  Why Frames are bad for you and your site visitors.
    http://apptools.com/rants/framesevil.php
    2) Don't use Flash for navigation.  Many people can't use Flash.  What will they do?
    3) Learn HTML and CSS code first.  This will make DW much easier to learn.
    Start here:
    HTML & CSS Tutorials - http://w3schools.com/
    Then work through this 3-part tutorial:

  • Background Image Centering and Display issues in Internet Explorer--affecting home page only??

    Hi--my web site is www.vergent.net, and for some reason, the background image will not center in Internet Explorer, but I'm having this issue only on the home page. (And only in IE. I am looking at it on IE 9). I've tried a number of workarounds, and nothing is working. Strangely, the same Master applied to other pages looks fine.
    Please help!
    A few more details:
    The background image is placed into the Master page via the "browser fill" method.  I tried a workaround where I just paste the background image directly onto the page and then placed content over that. However, IE doesn't seem to read the z-index information correctly. The result is that the background image winds up on top of all the content in IE using this method.
    Any help will be most appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jennifer

    PS, I have temporarily resolved this problem by uncentering the content and just pinning everything flush to the left.

  • Background images flickering and turning black on scroll in published site, but in not preview.

    The background images are very flickery and turning black when scrolling when viewing published site in Safari.   This just started happening today after working on this for a few weeks now and the first time I'm noticing it.   Everything is still ok in preview mode.  All the large background images are optimized to be 500kb or less (they are all just placeholders).

    Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

    that is so strange, i had the location "image/rotator/......" for all three of my images in the js file and only the third one works?
    i believe they are all loading up fine as of this moment, just like they were yesterday, but not this morning when i first arrived at work. i wonder what changes the location by itself.
    hopefully the same thing won't happen again.
    as for the text problem, thanks for pointing that out, i really appreciate it! but our office has been quite understaffed for a while, and no one here really knows anything about web maintenance. hopefully someone will fix those problems some day.
    thanks again bregent!

  • Problems with "Background Eraser Tool" and "Blur". The tools don't affect the whole area but just connect the start and the last points.

    Hello!
    I have some issues with Photoshop CC 2014. The tools "Background Eraser Tool" and "Blur" won't work correctly. When I’m holding down the left mouse button and trying to erase or blur some area, the tools don’t affect the whole area but just connect the start and the last points – like drawing a line. These troubles exist with mentioned tools only, other tools work correctly.
    I’ve restored each tool separately, restored all the tools together, installed new drivers for tablet, re-installed Photoshop and even Windows. Nothing helped. These tools worked correctly earlier with the same adjustments, but one day something went wrong.
    How can I make the tools work correctly?
    Some information about my computer:
    • Notebook Lenovo Y560
    • Windows 7 Home Basic SP1 x64
    • Intel Core i5 2.53 GHz
    • 4Gb RAM
    • ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 1Gb
    • Tablet Wacom Bamboo CTL-470

    Hi,
    I have a similar problem with the Background Eraser tool as well. It's the same both on my PC and on my laptop, both running Win 8.1 and PS CC2014. Would be great to have a solution for this. Did you managed to find a fix?

  • I have reinstalled CS5.1 extended on my new Lenovo Laptop with Win 8.1 64 bit. No installation problems, but now Image Adjustments and tools do not work any more.

    Operating Problem with CS5.1 extended. I replaced my old HP Laptop with a new Lenovo laptop with Win 8.1 and reinstalled CS5.1 64-bit version. The software downloaded and installed correctly and worked for a day, but when I rebooted the next day, the Image Adjustments and tools functions did not respond any more. I have uninstalled and redownloaded/ reinstalled without success.

    The software worked on the first day, problems appeared next day. I uninstalled and deleted the exe.file, then redownloaded and reinstalled but same problem persists.
    I then downloaded and installed on my PC and everything works.

  • How to add two different background images - left and right

    I want to get something like this

    The way I have done that is to create the right image as a full width image and then place the left hand image over top and stretch the image to the left hand side of the page.
    Use background images on boxes instead of page background. I have done something similiar in the header of this site:

  • Problem editing background images

    I recorded a web interface simulation that contains sensitive
    customer information. All customer data has been edited by
    individually modifying background images in Photoshop to convert
    real customer information into generic looking accounts. The movie
    plays back fine when there is no mouse activity, however, when the
    mouse is clicked, the old hyperlink text (that was edited out in
    Photoshop) appears in the area that is being clicked.
    The movie has three layers (mouse, highlight, background). If
    I delete the mouse & highlight layers, the background still
    changes at the time of the mouse click. I can open the background
    in Photoshop, and it shows the properly edited version. It would
    appear that Captivate is pulling some type of image/video from the
    library at the time of the mouse click, but I have combed through
    the entire library to make sure none of the older assets exist.
    Any ideas, or is lack of caffeine the issue?
    - Jon

    I think I found the source of this issue in a KB article
    here.
    I will reply back if it does not work.
