Templates and Passing a Report Name

I need to create a template and have the report name passed on to that template, but I need a bit more detailed of an explanation then the following:
Create a user parameter on the template and then pass the report name to the parameter at run time.

I wish to have the report name sent to the template so that at runtime the report name will show. I have created a parameter for this to be passed to, and put a field in the header of the template to accept the parameter: what I need to know is how do you send the name of the report which exists in the property palette under -Report -General Information - Name node to the field on the template so it shows at runtime.
Thanks

    How to schedule a webi report so that it's name contains the schedule date in format "Reportname_YYYY_MM".I selected the option Date And Time in Formats and destinations tab under scheduling options but it displays system time as well.I need only in the above mentioned format.Can anybody let me know if thisis possible at all?

    YOu may want to try to create a publication with dynamic recipients and "abuse" the email or user name of your recipient to pass add the date in the desired format in the name of the instance.
    Just use aWebI report as source for the dynamic recipient that displays the current date in the format you want and use this column as the ID of the dynamic recipient.
    Check the publication guide for more information on how to create and schedule a publication (I assume oyu are using BO XI 3.1 SP3)

  • Call File Adapter Externally and Pass on File name

    HI experts,
    We have a requirement where we need to call a file adapter externally to poll for a file.
    The File name needs to be passed on to the called Adapter and the adapter will poll for that particular file.
    Once it polls we will need to stop it -- in other words the the adapter will poll only when we call it externally.
    Any form of inputs / help on this will be greatly appreciated. We will initiate this possibly from a BPM.
    Many Thanks,

    Hey buddy ..
    I agree with Praveen... you cannot dynamically change the filename in the sender File CC..\

  • Availability of Runtime Statistics and Passing to Reports/DB Tables

    Hi,
    We're hoping to improve Crystal Report performance, and in order to do so, we're hoping runtime statistics or monitoring is logged.
    Are runtime statistics (Crystal Reports Pass 1/Pass 2 start time/elapsed time/finish time, as well as the individual server nodes' performance) logged when an instance of a crystal report is run? If so, are there default directories such as /logging, /auditing that exist? Or does this have to be configured?
    Can these statistics be passed into the report when it runs as a formula or command, or maybe a script be produced to be used to update an Audit Table for example?
    Thanks,
    Eric

    I would also suggest you to go through the blogs made by Manikandan Elumalai with regards to query builder. Quilder will help to locate the time duration took by an instance.
    BusinessObjects Query builder queries
    Also this time taken by an instance can also be found by going through its instance properties.

  • Passing report name as report title

    Using Desktop Publisher for Word and a standalone BIP Enterprise version, is it possible to pass the report name to the rtf template so that it could be used as the report title?
    This feature would be useful when there are multiple reports (different names and slightly different queries/criteria) that use the same templates. We could then dynamically change the report title based on the report name.
    Thanks,
    Haresh

    Haresh,
    I'm not sure if there is any simple way to print report name in rtf template.
    But there is a work around. Follow below steps...
    1>create parameter called Report_Name in every report
    2>put default value for that parameter as report name (Title)
    3>select parameter type as Hidden
    Now in rtf template.
    <?param@begin:Report_Name?>
    <?$Report_Name?>

  • Passing report name to be used in distrubute destination file?

    How can I pass the report_name used in %1 in my cgicmd.dat file to be used in my dest.xml file. Otherwise I am going to have to have a lot of destination xml files (one for each report)
    In my cgicmd.dat file i have the following:
    pm_report:report=%1 destype=cache DISTRIBUTE=YES destination=/home/oracle9i/dst/dest.xml server=rep userid=x/x@x %*
    which uses the dest/xml of:
    <destinations>
    <file id="MyFiles1" name="/home/reports/output/Daily_Volume_Delays.pdf" format="pdf">
    <include src="report"/>
    </file>
    <file id="MyFiles2" name="/home/reports/output/Daily_Volume_Delays.htm" format="html">
    <include src="report"/>
    </file>
    </destinations>

    Hi,
    One distribution file can be used to output to different output formats like html, pdf, rtf, etc. For example, the sample distribution file you wrote in your earlier post will output the report into html and pdf formats. So you do not need to have a separate distribution file for every output format.
    Similarly, passing the report name is not an issue. The distribution file does not care about the report name. You can use a single distribution file for all reports - just pass the report name in the command.
    However, you may still need a separate distribution file for every report definition. The reason is that if you use a single file for all report definition files, then the output report name will be the same for all reports (eg, "Daily_Volume_Delays.pdf"), that is, they will overwrite the previous output with same filename.
    You can get more information about distribution in Publishing Reports 10g Chapter 15 (Creating Advanced Distributions):

  • Passing report name to Labview

    i am more than new to Teststand, have read the whole answers that might match my question but i found no way to have my problem solved!!
    in most answers there were reffered to ReportOptions thing which i could not find at all ..
    so how could i pass the report name which i need to a vi .. and is it bad to put this step in the cleanup .. as to be sure that all other steps in the main section were executed!??
    thanks alot ...

    Just use this expression "RunState.Root.Locals.ReportFilePath", in your Main Sequence, it will return the Path of the Report File, you can pass directly this string to the LabVIEW modules.

  • Getting Report Name

    Is there a way to call a Windows API that will return the name of the report that is currently running?? Seems Reports doesn't offer any method to retrieve the filename of the executable .rep file during report execution so one can place the name in the headings. Has anyone had any luck doing this without passing the report name in as a parm?, etc.?
    Thanks

    Hello Tariq,
    You can use the SRW.GET_REPORT_NAME builtin to get the current report's name programmatically at runtime. Please refer the Reports Online Help for further information and examples for using this builtin.

  • Special Characters in Report Name or Report Description(URGENT)

    Hi All,
    I am using Hyperion Financial Reporting System 9 tool. Could anyone tell me what problem we face if we use special characters in report name and report description?
    Waiting for quick response.
    Regards,
    SN

    when using "&" in report and folder titles we had issues with report books not being able to run and also the report name would be incorrectly described.
    try to avoid if possible, there is a lower risk if using on an all windows enviroment (clients and servers) but if you have *nix OS it does introduce complexity.

  • Creating a print button to call a Report Query and pass filters

    If i use the REPORT QUERY option in APEX 4 to create an statement that is the same one used in an interactive report, can I create a link or button to the REPORT QUERY and pass all the session and filter information from the interactive report to the report query?
    This way I can have the interactive report screen where the user can do all sorts of modifications and such and then pass those to the REPORT QUERY so I can call that from a custom link or button.
    You may ask "why does he need another print button?"
    Answer: I am using a view that has some embedded HTML tags to format the output really nicely. The HTML download version created by the interactive reports works beautifully. The customer also wants a PDF version (meh) which does not render the HTML tags and actually echos them as part of the text. I found that I can create another view that uses the CHR function to create all the breaks and such I was doing with HTML and these do render properly in PDF. So, I figured just have 2 reports: 1 Interactive and 1 using a REPORT QUERY. I just want to call the REPORT QUERY version but use the Interactive Search form to set all the parameters.
    Or, am I over thinking this and there is an easier method?
    I made a previous post where I showed how I got the APEX printing to work and i hoped that helped someone out - fixing this issue would put the whole thing to rest.
    Thanks

    Is BI Publisher desktop (MS Word add-in) a possibility? This would allow you to use MS Word to create your output template (RTF) that would result in a properly formatted PDF. Of course, you'd have to right an updated version of the query without HTML embedded. Just thinking outside of the box.

  • Get error when passing a server name to Crystal Report

    I am developing a desktop application using VS 2012 with CRforVS_13_0_9 and CRRuntime_64bit_13_0_10 installed.  The database is SQL Server 2012 Express.  I use SQL OLEDB in Crystal Report to connect the SQL database.  Here is part of the codes.
    Dim crTableLogoninfo As New TableLogOnInfo
    Dim crConnectionInfo As New ConnectionInfo
    Dim crTables As Tables
    Dim crTable As Table
    With crConnectionInfo
    .ServerName = Login.sServer
    .DatabaseName = Login.sDatabase
    .UserID = Login.sDBUserID
    .Password = Login.sDBPassword
    End With
    Try
    crTables = CReport.Database.Tables
    For Each crTable In crTables
    crTableLogoninfo = crTable.LogOnInfo
    crTableLogoninfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo
    crTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogoninfo)
    Next
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = Nothing
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = CReport
    I get an error "Failed to open connection -- Database vendor code 17" when I run a Crystal Reports through my application.  The problem is Crystal Reports does not like the server name which is passed.  The purpose for passing a server name is to connect to different server if needed.  I am not 100% sure the error occurs after VS 2012 or SQL Server 2012 express was updated.
    Any ideas how I can fix this problem?
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi John
    First, you want to check the error code in your database documentation. The error is being passed from the db client through the report engine totally unmodified. Googling the error will also be a good idea.
    And, seeing as you are using SQL Server 2012, make absolutely sure that the SQL Native 11 client is installed.

  • Custom report template and URL links

    Hello,
    I have been working on this problem for some-time and it's starting to get frustrating. I am trying to 'mimic' the functionality of the 'people search' application and I am working on the hierarchy portion of it (page 3).
    I copied the (3) custom report templates (one for each level of the hierarchy) and I created three queries to go to each.
    My problem is that the links in the report template code keep getting mixed around -- the mgr_id is showing where the mgr_name should be, etc. In the example application the query has about 6 columns, and the template is only showing three (and the order of them in the report attributes doesn't seem to matter. But when I change the column order in my application, the data in the template changes??
    Here is an example query:
    select MGR_NAME, work_role,
    nvl(total_direct,0) Directs, nvl(total_reports,0) Reports
    from hr_orgchart_view
    where
    emp_id = :p3_emp_id
    And the matching report template:
    <tr align="center" valign="top">
    <td align="center"class="instructiontext">
    <b>#MGR_NAME#</b>
    <br><font size=-2>
    #WORK_ROLE#
    </font><br><FONT class="smallBlack">
    Directs: #DIRECTS#   Total: #REPORTS#</font></td></tr>
    Since the column name is being referenced as the link text, column order should not matter right?
    Please shed some light on this situation, as I am holding up development. I am using version 1.6
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Sorry, the code was messed up in previous post:
    Template:
    <tr align="center" valign="top">
    <td align="center"class="instructiontext">
    <b>#MGR_NAME#</b>
    <br><font size=-2>
    #WORK_ROLE#</font><br><FONT class="smallBlack">
    Directs: #DIRECTS#   Total: #REPORTS#</font></td></tr>

  • WAD: How-to get query name and pass to URL

    Hi,
    The task: In a BI 7.0 web template - get the technical query name and use that to open a URL in the format http://<MYURL>&DOCUMENTATION=<QUERYNAME>. So:
    1) User clicks an icon
    2) Get technical name of query
    3) Open the documentation for that query using a URL
    How can this be done? Do I have to use the Custom Extension web item and implement a new class using the interface IF_BICS_CONS_WEBITEM_CUST_EXIT? If so, do you have an example of how this can be done? OR even better is there an easier way to accomplish this?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Daniel,
    you could get the query name in ABAP code, also. Here is a snippet from the execute method. The Query name should be in l_sx_view at the end.
