Custom report template and URL links

Hello,
I have been working on this problem for some-time and it's starting to get frustrating. I am trying to 'mimic' the functionality of the 'people search' application and I am working on the hierarchy portion of it (page 3).
I copied the (3) custom report templates (one for each level of the hierarchy) and I created three queries to go to each.
My problem is that the links in the report template code keep getting mixed around -- the mgr_id is showing where the mgr_name should be, etc. In the example application the query has about 6 columns, and the template is only showing three (and the order of them in the report attributes doesn't seem to matter. But when I change the column order in my application, the data in the template changes??
Here is an example query:
select MGR_NAME, work_role,
nvl(total_direct,0) Directs, nvl(total_reports,0) Reports
from hr_orgchart_view
where
emp_id = :p3_emp_id
And the matching report template:
<tr align="center" valign="top">
<td align="center"class="instructiontext">
<b>#MGR_NAME#</b>
<br><font size=-2>
#WORK_ROLE#
</font><br><FONT class="smallBlack">
Directs: #DIRECTS#   Total: #REPORTS#</font></td></tr>
Since the column name is being referenced as the link text, column order should not matter right?
Please shed some light on this situation, as I am holding up development. I am using version 1.6
Thanks,
Jeff

Sorry, the code was messed up in previous post:
Template:
<tr align="center" valign="top">
<td align="center"class="instructiontext">
<b>#MGR_NAME#</b>
<br><font size=-2>
#WORK_ROLE#</font><br><FONT class="smallBlack">
Directs: #DIRECTS#   Total: #REPORTS#</font></td></tr>

    Hi Srinivas,
    "i want to add only one particular table not all tables", you can do this using a Custom Transaction Code, the following are the steps to do it:
    1) goto se93, give a unique name, say zxxx
    2)Enter SE16 into the transaction field and select the flag the ‘skip initial screen’ field:
    3)On the lower portion of the screen, enter the following information:
    Name of screen field: DATABROWSE-TABLENAME
    Value: Enter the name of the table you want to browse with
    4)save it.
    5) Now add the transaction zxxx in th role, and assign it to the user.
    With this, when user executes the transaction, he/she will be able to see only the perticular table you added.
    "in PFCG what is the use of Exper mode for profile generation. what is the difference between general profile generation and expert mode profile generation".
    Expert mode has 3 options:
    1) Delete and recreate profile and authorizations---This will completely delete the old profile and add only  the new once.
    2) Edit old status----It will edit the old values
    3) Read old status and merge with new data----This will add the new values aithout actually disturbing the old ones.
    Hope it helps.
    Please award points if it is useful.

  • Link in my customized Report Template doesn't work – Apex 3.1

    I created a report template based on columns of my report
    My query report is:
    SELECT MEM_NAS ID, MEM_NOM NAME, MEM_DATE_NAIS BIRTH
    FROM ACMT_MEMBRE;
    My customized report template have this Row Template definition:
    <tr onclick="redirect('f?p=&APP_ID.:6:&SESSION.:::6:P6_NAS:#ID#');">
    <td #ALIGNMENT# class="t16data_edit">#NAME#</td>
    <td #ALIGNMENT# class="t16data_edit">#BIRTH#</td>
    </tr>
    This would redirect to the page 6 when user click anywhere on a row but it doesn’t work.
    I have this error message:
    CHECK$01');"> CHECK$01');"> CHECK$01');"> CHECK$01');"> CHECK$01');"> CHECK$01');"> CHECK$01');"> CHECK$01');"> CHECK$01');"> CHECK$01');"> CHECK$01');"> CHECK$01');"> CHECK$01');"> CHECK$01');"> CHECK$01');">
    I realized that problem is caused by #ID# because if I hardcode this ID, it works.
    How can my report template get the “ID” from my query report ?

    Is the report template definitely of type Named Column (row template) (defined on App Builder page 4000:4654) and not Generic Columns (column template) (defined on page 400:258)?
    Note that the <tt>#ALIGNMENT#</tt> substitution string is not supported in named column templates. Set column alignment explicitly using HTML attributes in the template, or use CSS.
    This would redirect to the page 6 when user click anywhere on a row but it doesn’t work.

    {code}Where do you see this? It looks like there's a mismatch between the report columns returned by the query and those referenced in the report template. Or the data contains unsafe HTML characters that aren't being escaped.
    Yes, my report query has a column called ID and it's set as Hidden. This could be the problem. In a report based on a named column template any columns referenced in the template must be +shown+ in the report, even if (as in this case) the column value is not visible to the user: the positioning of the <tt>#ID#</tt> column placeholder in the <tt>onclick</tt> attribute rather than in a table cell is what makes it "hidden". *The Show checkbox for the ID column must be checked.*
    From the gobbledygook being generated it looks like there could be a row selector checkbox column in this report as well? Named column row templates must include substitution placeholders for every shown column. It's also advisable to keep the columns in the same order in the SQL, report column attributes and row template.
    Something like
    {code}
    &lt;tr onclick="redirect('f?p=&APP_ID.:6:&SESSION.:::6:P6_NAS:#ID#');"&gt;
    <td class="t16data_edit">#CHECK$01#</td>
    <td class="t16data_edit">#NAME#</td>
    <td class="t16data_edit">#BIRTH#</td>
    </tr>
    {code}
    I realized that problem is caused by #ID# because if I hardcode this ID, it works.
    How can my report template get the “ID” from my query report ?If the above doesn't help then the easiest way to troubleshoot this would be for you to upload the app to apex.oracle.com and post guest developer credentials for the workspace so we can see the whole thing: template, SQL, and report attributes. Otherwise we're likely to and up with a lot of tedious to and fro here posting bits of code and attribute values.

    Hi Nuno,
    you can achieve this by changing the XSL file.
    Check out this thread for more infos: XML form display in same browser window

  • Custom Report Template Issue

    Hi,
    I have a Custom Report Template, it is a Named Column(Row) Report that I have created. It seems I can get the look and feel I want on a per row basis. But when I try and convert it to be able to loop through for a specific type, like a break on the first column, it gets all messed up. I was wondering if someone might be able to shed some light for me on this I have tried everything
    Here is the row template

    Thanks for the input! Yeah it is based on a query from a collection as all this data is summations that i am pre-populating.
    Yes this html is probably from 1998 or 1999 I think they told me actually lol
    So there is no way to accomplish what I am trying to do then?
    There is no way I could use a break on first column and modify the header info to get the same sort of look and feel?Still not really clear what you are trying to accomplish, and in my view there are so many problems with the "look and feel" that it's not worth perpetuating.
    Making a lot of assumptions, I've come up with the kind of HTML structure I'd use when marking up this kind of data. I added a page 2 to your example on apex.oracle.com, showing a basic presentation of this structure alongside the original for comparison, and another styled using the default theme L&F.
    <li>Given the requirement to use multi-level headers (and because I prefer to have total control over the HTML), I stayed with a custom report template rather than trying to utilise column breaking with a generic column report template. This also permits use of more advanced table structures than can be supported by standard templates, such as s<tt>colgroup</tt>s to organize the table columns as well as the rows:
    Before Rows
      <table cellpadding="0" border="0" cellspacing="0" summary="" #REPORT_ATTRIBUTES# id="report_#REGION_STATIC_ID#">
      #TOP_PAGINATION#
      <tr>
        <td>
          <table class="fish">
            <caption>Some fishy summaries</caption>
            <colgroup span="1"></colgroup>
            <colgroup span="4" class="evaluation-trips" align="right"></colgroup>
            <colgroup span="4" class="other-trips" align="right"></colgroup>
    After Rows
          </table>
        </td>
      </tr>
      #PAGINATION#
    </table><li>Rather than separate tables, the report is contained in one HTML table, utilizing the <tt>tbody</tt> element to subdivide this into separate row groups to meet the "break on first column" requirement. This is achieved using conditional row templates, with PL/SQL Expressions based on the values of metadata columns added to the query:
    Row Template 1
    Header rows and first data row for each row group. <tt>scope</tt> attributes are added to multi-column headers for improved accessibility:
      <tbody>
        <tr>
          <th colspan="9" scope="rowgroup">#C1#</th>
        </tr>
        <tr>
          <th></th>
          <th colspan="4" scope="colgroup">Evaluation Trips</th>

    Row Template 1 Expression
    This template is used when the row metadata shows that the current row is in a different row group from the previous row:
    #ROW_GROUP# != #PREVIOUS_ROW_GROUP#
    Row Template 2
    This is the "default" template, used for any subsequent data rows in the row group:
        <tr class="#ALT#">
          <td class="desc">#C8#</td>
          <td>#C9#</td>
          <td>#C10#</td>
          <td>#C11#</td>
          <td>#C12#</td>
          <td>#C13#</td>
          <td>#C14#</td>
          <td>#C15#</td>
          <td>#C16#</td>
        </tr>
      #CLOSE_ROW_GROUP#Both templates make use of a <tt>#CLOSE_ROW_GROUP#</tt> column value conditionally generated in the query that returns a <tt>&lt;/tbody&gt;</tt> tag if the current row is the last data row in the row group. (Mixing logic and structure in this way is not good practice, but APEX only allows up to 4 conditional row templates, which is completely insufficient for any moderately complex structure.)

    </style>The default theme L&F report adds vertical borders to separate columns and column groups (latter may not be fully effective on IE: I'm not wasting my time on quirks mode fixes for that).
    The resulting report uses 60% less vertical space, and 87% less HTML code[1] than the original. Usability and accessibility are improved by eliminating nested tables and useless table cells and shim images, increasing the contrast between text and background colours, and using alternating row backgrounds for better visual tracking.
    [1] Including whitespace, but neither template is compressed in any way: both are in fully readale format including normal whitespace indentation.

Hopefully, you guys can give me some solutions or ideas on this.

    1- put your images in a directory under the web app directory. Example: app/images/
    2- in your jsp, use: String file = application.getRealPath("/images/"); to get the images directory. See http://java.sun.com/j2ee/sdk_1.3/techdocs/api/javax/servlet/ServletContext.html#getRealPath(java.lang.String)
    3- it's not the right forum to post this kind of question. Post them in the JSP/Servlet JSTL forum instead

  • Customizing Report Template in eLoad.

    Hello,
    I am using version 8.20.0526 and am looking to create custom reports in eLoad. Is there a way I can edit the templates to add in more information or create my own? I notice that there is a upload feature. Can I do it using that? What format does it need to be in and how can I grab the information from eLoad? Has anybody used this feature before?

    ...it is acctually to be found in the eLoad help (at least some of it)
    you can find some usefull info here:
    http://localhost:8088/eload/pages/help/how2_creating_report_templates.htm
    (if you have eLoad installed on your local box)
    some tags that can be usefull if you wana do this manually are:
    <%out.write(session.getGraph('Statistics vs. Time'))%>
    <%out.write(session.getGraph('Users vs. Time'))%>
    <%out.write(session.getGraph('Errors vs. Users'))%>
    ...so you see...the tag stays the same...all you have to do is to change the name of the report query that you wana display.
    in early builds of 8.20 there was a problem to use "custom" report queries... I am not sure what the current status is (it is at least solved in beta builds of 9.0)

  • [SOLVED] Inquiry about the {{Note | }} environment and url links

    Recently I've added some notes to the wiki and tend to like to link to sources where possible. I've tried to do this with forum posts, but because of the url syntax:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=#####
    the note environment doesn't like it and results in this:
    {{{1}}}
    Specifically, I've tracked it down to the equals sign ("="). Could anyone chime in on:
    - the preferred method of linking to an external url inside of a note (or if that is discouraged)
    - if I've overlooked some syntax that would allow this for the url format above (like putting it in quotations or something like that?)
    - if it's possible to change why the "=" in a url will prevent such linking
    It's a bummer... I love linking to the forums from the wiki because a lot of the answers originate here during problem solving. I don't have to use the note environment, but I find lately that some of the main article will be quasi correct but potentially misunderstood and so I've create a note and linked here. Since I can't directly link, I've been adding the forum post urls in the "Additional Resources" section at the bottom of articles and just linking to that via the [[wikiURL#Additioanal_Resources]] syntax.
    To be able to directly input a url would simply things, I think.

    See Help:Template
    Note: If you use the equal sign ( = ) inside a template with numbered parameters, MediaWiki will break the template's output. You need to enclose the equal sign (or the entire block of text) in <nowiki> tags like so:
    {{Codeline|<nowiki>variable = value</nowiki>}}
    Alternatively, treat the parameter number as a named parameter, as in:
    {{Codeline|1=variable = value}}
    This is a technical limitation that you should keep in mind while using templates.

  • Custom report table and field mapping

    Hi Experts,
    i am writing a functional spec for the custom report to be developed by developers and need to know the table and field name for the following items:
    Employee Number
    Name
    Original Hire date
    Adjusted Hire date
    Salary Class
    Rate of Pay
    Emp. Status
    Classification
    Acounting Unit
    Activity (WBS)
    Accrual Beginning Balance (Hours)
    Accrual Beginning Balance (Dollars)
    Accrued (Hours)
    Accrued (Dollars)
    Used (Hours)
    Used (Dollars)
    Other / Manual Adjustments (+/-) (Hours)
    Other / Manual Adjustments (+/-) (Dollars)
    Other / Manual Adjustments Description
    Accrual Ending Balance (Hours)
    Accrual Ending Balance (Dollars)
    Vested Status
    PlanCode
    PlanDescription
    Thanks,
    Lisa

    I can give you a 30,000 foot answer, but to get down to ground level I would have to know your system.  There is way to much missing information in your request to give you a definite answer.
    Employee Number - if you are using LDB PNP/PNPCE to run your report then it is the field PERNR-PERNR.
    Name - IT/PA0002-NACHN -Last Name, IT/PA0002-VORNA-First Name.IT/PA002-MIDNM-Middle Name. Depending on your system configuration these fields are also stored on IT/AP0001-SNAME (Last Name-FirstName) or ENAME(First Name, Middle Name, Last Name)
    Original Hire Date-IT/PA0041-This stores multiple date types with a specific code to identify what each one is.  You will need to know the code for OHD.
    Adjusted Hire Date - same as above
    Salary Class- not sure what you are talking about, but salary information is stored on IT/PA008
    Empl Status - IT/PA000-Stat2
    Classification-not sure what field you are talking about, but IT/PA0001 is where this type of information is stored
    Accounting Unit-same as above
    Activity(WBS)- now you are getting complicated. This is stored in Cost Distribution  HRT1019-POSNR, but you have to know how to connect the dots to get there.
    Accrual Beginning Balance(Hours)-I would go to the ABWKONTI table in the Time Cluster for this fields ANZHL & KVERB
    Accrual Beginning Balance(Dollars) - this will probably have to be computed
    Used(Hours)-You can either compute this balance by computing the difference between the Beginning/Ending balances or read back through the appropriate Time Cluster Tables or total IT/PA2001 and IT/PA2013.
    Used(dollars) will probably have to be computed
    Other/Manual Adjustments(Hours) - not sure but you may be looking at IT/PA2013
    Other/Manual Adjustments(Dollars)- will have to be computed
    Accrual Ending Balance(Hours)-I would go to the ABWKONTI table in the Time Cluster for this fields ANZHL & KVERB
    Accrual Ending Balance(Dollars) - this will probably have to be computed
    Vested Status - I have no idea
    Plan Code-Plan Code for what(Health Ins, Life Ins, Retirement Plans, Flexible Spending?)

  • Registering a custom report template

    Hi,
    I'm working with Reports 10g.
    I've created a new template and I'm trying to register it so I can see it in the Report Wizard.
    Just to get things rolling I'm concentrating on registering it for a simple Tabular report. So I open cagprefs.ora and edit the Reports.Tabular_Template_Desc and Reports.Tabular_Template_File with the desc and filename of the report.
    I restart reports.
    I use the report wizard to create a Tabular report
    Nothing happens. No new report template.

  • XML Forms and URL links in RenderListItem Form

    Hello everyone,
    I'm new at XML Forms and trying to do my first forms. I have this scenario:
    - user fills several entry fields in "Edit" Form, 2 of them include URL Links.
    - Every new entry in "RenderListItem" Form lists fields "Title" and URL1 URL2.
    In RenderListItem Form, i would like to control the behaviour of these links. Link URL1 should open in a new window, but URL2 should stay in the same browser window.
    How can i achieve this ?
                                          Thank you in advance for any help,
                                                Nuno

    Hi Nuno,
    you can achieve this by changing the XSL file.
    Check out this thread for more infos: XML form display in same browser window

  • Problems with template and page links..

    Hello community!
    I'm pretty new to dreamweaver Cs4 and am having a slight problem. I have my template.dwt file and 5 other pages which use this template layout. However when I preview my website in my browser, the template.dwt file links to all the pages, however when I click on another link (a page link) once on this page, the hyperlinks from the navigation cant be clicked. In other words the navigation turns into just text and no hyperlinks.
    I want to be able to click on any page on my website using the navigation bar, so i can go back and forth onto pages all over my website using my navigation.
    Anyone know what to do or a solution to allow me to have all the links working from the template
    Thanks

    You are being confused by a) not understanding root relative vs document
    relative links, and b) not understanding how DW previews files.
    If I have a document with a link to an image that looks like this -
    <img src="/images/foo.gif"...
    That's what's called a root relative link.
    If I preview that document in DW, then the browser gets the document, sees
    the leading "/" and reads that as the root of the hard drive, since the
    browser has no idea where the root of the site is.  Thus, the image is
    broken in the preview.
    If I have temp files enabled, then DW will secretly convert the file being
    previewed into a temporary file, and hand that to the browser.  This temp
    file has had all root relative links converted to document relative links
    (as you will see by looking at the code in the browser), and has had all
    include files actually embedded in the page, and has had all external CSS
    and js markup embedded in the page.  In other words, DW has made the
    document into a stand-alone page.
    If you do not have temp files enabled, all of these links would be broken on
    preview.
    Now - if you are using root relative links, AND you have temp files enabled,
    AND you click away from the previewed document, then all of your links will
    be broken, since DW has not made that linked file into a temp file.  This is
    what you are seeing.
    So - if you want to click away on preview, then you must use document
    relative links for the site -
    <img src="../images/foo.gif"... (for example)
    These will still work on preview since the browser knows how to determine
    the current file's location and how to follow that path.

  • Difference Between Crystal Report Template and Sub Report

    I am not able to get the Report Template Option/menu.
    I am working with Visual Studio 2005 , Crystal Report Version 10.2
    Do i need to have Crystal Report Server in order to work with Template.
    Also i will like to know the diff. between Template and Sub Report?

    Hello,
    The Report Template Wizard is not part of Crystal in .NET. You need to upgrade to the full version of Crystal Reports.
    Template is a base report to work from. Subreport is another report object that can be inserted into a section of the main report.
    Thank you

  • Question on templates and updating linked files

    OK I have a master template file. Let's say it is named
    a.dwt. I used a.dwt to create another template (b.dwt) that had
    more content on it than a.dwt. I would use b.dwt to create a group
    of similar looking pages which still had all the elements of a.dwt
    but also the additional content of b.dwt.
    Now if I make a change to the a.dwt template, all pages
    created from a.dwt change except b.dwt. So either I forgot to
    create the b.dwt by going to file->new->page from
    template->and then save it as a .dwt OR maybe it's not possible
    to have a secondary template that gets updated when the first
    template gets updated thus causing all pages from the secondary
    template to get updated?
    Is there any way to go back and make b.dwt update
    automatically whenever a.dwt gets updated? The scenario I have
    right now is that I have to make certain site changes on both a.dwt
    and b.dwt instead of just making the change on a.dwt and that
    change flowing into b.dwt and its spawned pages.

    >I think what possibly happened is that I opened a.dwt and
    then made the
    > addition of the form element to a.dwt but then simply
    saved as b.dwt
    > instead of

    Yes, I think that's a possible scenario.

    I see. Are you using "mailto:" on each of those forms? This
    method of
    sending form data is notioriously unreliable, you know? It
    depends on a)
    your visitor's browser knowing what to do with such a link,
    and b) your
    visitor's email client knowing what to do with such a link,
    and c) your
    visitor not being put off by the security alert message that
    may pop up when
    they click. Nevermind the fact that it fails completely in
    public locations
    that do not have an email client installed.
    Why not do this the right way with server scripting? In that
    case you could
    have a single page with a single form, and let the visitor
    select a name as
    the recipient from a list/menu field.
