Testdrive N4S with Fedora 8 - Database Start failure

Hello,
I installed the System N4S successfully on a Fedora 8, kernel 2.6.23, but Database start ends up with failure.
Message from startdb.log:

DB-log Files indicate some missing crypt-libs:

This library was obviously not included in the testdrive.
However this seems to result only in a warning and to be not the real problem.
I saw somewhere already a comment advising an upgrade of the database-version because of some library conflicts with an other problem:
https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=7692305&messageID=3719866
Can somebody advise on that topic?
Thank you and kind regards,
Axel

Dear Axel,
having no XUSERs (needed for database connection) makes an automated database start impossible. Can you check, if you have a XUSER file in the home directory of n4sadm?
$> su - n4sadm
#> cd
#> ls -la .XUSER.62
-rw-------  1 n4sadm sapsys 1724 Apr 20  2007 .XUSER.62
If it is there, but you can't connect to the database, it should make a copy of the old one with:
mv -a .XUSER.62 .XUSER.62.org
and create a new one, which you should do if the file isn't there as well:
/sapdb/programs/bin/xuser -U DEFAULT -u sapn4s,sapn4sadm -d N4S -n n4shost -S SAPR3 -t 0 -I 0 set
/sapdb/programs/bin/xuser -U c -u control,sapn4sadm -d N4S -n n4shost -S SAPR3 -t 0 -I 0 set
/sapdb/programs/bin/xuser -U c_J2EE -u control,sapn4sadm -d N4S -n n4shost -S SAPR3 -t 0 -I 0 set
/sapdb/programs/bin/xuser -U w -u superdba,sapn4sadm -d N4S -n n4shost -S SAPR3 -t 0 -I 0 set
After executing the 4 commands, a new .XUSER.62 file will be there, which allows you to start the database.
Thanks,
  Hannes

  • Database starting failure

    Hi........I've a serious problem with the my database -->one day I was starting database (oracle I on win98) then the power goes down then when I tried to start it there after I received (ORA-322 cannot open database) error message then I read many forums here and on the web to recover the database but I was stuck with changing the current log (cause it may be corrupted) to a new one (cause I can't do so when the database isn't open) I need only to restore the database scheme and the procedure there and I've no idea about recovery management in oracle so please help....

    Observe the control_files parameter in init.ora
    example
    control_files=('c:\oracle\oradata\orcl\control01.ctl',
    'c:\oracle\oradata\orcl\control02.ctl',
    'c:\oracle\oradata\orcl\control03.ctl')
    If you have 2 or more files then you have multiplexed them.
    For muliplexing....
    After your database is up and running normally. Shutdown the database. copy one controlfile to another location. Say you copied control01.ctl to d:\oracle\oradata\orcl. after copy rename to control02.ctl. Include the complete path of newly created controlfile in control_files parameter of init.ora. Now oracle will write to both control01.ctl and control02.ctl files. Thus you have multiplexed them.

  • Essbase Error(1021001) Failed to Establish Connection With SQL Database...?

    Hi there!
    I am very new in Essbase and I am receiving the error message quoted below while trying to load data in a Cube. Weird thing is that we have checked all connections already and they are working correctly, however this process is still failing.
    If someone can give us an idea to troubleshoot it, that would be really appreciated.
    Thanks very much in advance for any help and regards!

    So, we checked the database and noticed the schema and their views were damaged and -due to this- they lost all their properties (like data types, for example). So, we had to recompile all of them in order to avoid any loss of data. This was done in TOAD, as per the following info: https://support.quest.com/SolutionDetail.aspx?id=SOL66821
    Finally, once all the views on this schema were rebuilt and fixed, we were able to deploy the Cube again.
    Hope this help in the future. Cheers!!

  • Database startup failure

    I have installed the NW4-Testdrive on a SuSE Linux 9.0 System. All installation processes have been finished very well. After I typed 'sapstart' (in user context of nw4adm, as described) the saposcol starts up all right. But starting the database failed.
    The error message in /sapmnt/home/nw4adm/startdb.log is:
    dbmcli: connect check finished with return code: 0
    Starting Database Instance...
    OK
    Opening Database...
    ERR

    Connect to the database to verify the database is now open
    dbmcli check finished with return code: 0
    Database start failed
    What can I do to get started??

    Hallo Ralf,
    please look into MaxDB/SAP DB independend data directory for the file  /<indep_data>/wrk/<DBID>/knldiag . The reason must be traced there. The note must be placed before the token 'current write position'. It would be enough if you search using just 'current' token. Check additionally whether the xserver is running. As <sid>adm user just enter the shell command: x_server -U.
    greetings,
    Alexander

  • Problems with DUPLICATE DATABASE when datafile was added after full backup

    Hi,
    I'm facing a problem when performing database duplication with the RMAN duplicate database command on a 10g database. If I preform the duplication from a full backup that is missing a datafile which was added to the database after the full backup, I get the following error message:
    Starting restore at 10-10-2009 18:00:38
    released channel: t1
    released channel: t2
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-03002: failure of Duplicate Db command at 10/10/2009 18:00:39
    RMAN-03015: error occurred in stored script Memory Script
    RMAN-06026: some targets not found - aborting restore
    RMAN-06100: no channel to restore a backup or copy of datafile 43The redo log which was CURRENTat the time of the datafile's 43 creation is also available in the backups. It seems like RMAN can't use the information from the archived redo logs to reconstruct the contents of datafile 43. I suppose that because the failure is reported already in the RESTORE and not in the RECOVER phase, so the archived redo logs aren't even accessed yet. I get the same message even if I make a separate backup of datafile 43 (so a backup that is not in the same backupset as the backup of all other datafiles).
    From the script the duplicate command produces, I guess that RMAN reads the contents of the source database's controlfile and tries to get a backup which contains all the datafiles to restore them on the auxiliary database - if such a backup is not found, it fails.
    Of course if I try to perform a restore/recover of the source database it works without problems:
    RMAN> restore database;
    Starting restore at 13.10.09
    using target database control file instead of recovery catalog
    allocated channel: ORA_DISK_1
    channel ORA_DISK_1: sid=156 devtype=DISK
    creating datafile fno=43 name=F:\ORA10\ORADATA\SOVDEV\SOMEDATAFILE01.DBF
    channel ORA_DISK_1: starting datafile backupset restore
    channel ORA_DISK_1: specifying datafile(s) to restore from backup set
    restoring datafile 00001 to F:\ORA10\ORADATA\SOVDEV\SYSTEM01.DBF
    .....The datafile 43 is recreated and then redo is applied over.
    So, does anyone know if duplicate database can't use archived redo logs to recreate the contents of a datafile as a normal restore/recover does? If it's so, then it means it's necessary to perform a full database backup before every run of duplicate database if a datafile was added after such a backup.
    Thanks in advance for any answers.
    Regards,
    Jure

    Hi Jure,
    I have hit exactly the same problem during duplication.
    Because we backup the archive logs every 6 hours with rman I added an extra run block to this script.
    run
    backup incremental level 0
    format 'bk_%d_%s_%p_%t'
    filesperset 4
    database not backed up;
    (I also than hit a bug in the catalog which was solved by patching up the catalog dbs from 11.1.0.6 to 11.1.0.7.)
    This will narrow down the datafile not being part of any rman backup to 6 hours while skipping datafiles for which a backup already exists.
    Regards,
    Tycho

  • RMAN incompatible with TARGET database

    I have two databases:
    The database with the catalog, version 8.1.7.
    The database to be backed up (target), version 8.0.6.
    When I try to connect to the target, I get an error stating: Recovery Manager incompatible with TARGET database: RMAN 8.0.4 to 8.0.4 required
    I've tried changing the "compatible" parameter to 8.0.4, but then I get an error when I restart the database (regarding locally managed tablespaces, which I am not using).
    Any idea what I need to do to connect to the target database?
    thanks....

    Hi !
    I guess you have confused the compatible init.ora parameter with RMAN compatible parameter ,
    They are entirely different. The excerpts here, which i have taken from the Oracle online docs should
    clear your problem.
    The compatible parameter specifies the minimum acceptable release of the RMAN executable that can function with the catalog. For example, if the recovery catalog compatibility is set to 8.1.4, then only an RMAN executable of release 8.1.4 or later can connect to the catalog.
    You cannot set the compatible parameter to a version that is not supported by the currently-installed DBMS_RCVMAN or DBMS_RCVCAT packages. If you try to set compatibility to a version that is not supported by one of the packages, then you receive an error message that indicates the lowest and highest value you can set, as in the following example:
    RMAN> configure compatible = 8.0.1;
    RMAN-03022: compiling command: configure
    RMAN-03026: error recovery releasing channel resources
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-03002: failure during compilation of command
    RMAN-03013: command type: configure
    RMAN-06455: illegal compatible value 8.0.1: must be between 08.00.04 and 08.01.06
    To view the compatibility level of the recovery catalog:
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Start a SQL*Plus session and connect to the recovery catalog database as the recovery catalog owner. For example, enter:
    SQL> connect rman/rman@rcat
    Issue the following query:
    SQL> SELECT value FROM config WHERE name='compatible';
    VALUE
    080106
    To create an 8.1.6 recovery catalog that is usable with a pre-8.1.6 RMAN executable:
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    This procedure assumes that you have the use of both an 8.1.6 and pre-8.1.6 RMAN executable. The method employed it to use a pre-8.1.6 RMAN executable to create the recovery catalog, and a release 8.1.6 RMAN executable to upgrade it. The compatibility level is automatically set to 8.0.4, which has the implications described in Table 3-1.
    Use a pre-8.1.6 RMAN executable to connect to the catalog database. For example, enter:
    % rman catalog rman/rman@rcat
    Recovery Manager: Release 8.1.5.0.0
    RMAN-06008: connected to recovery catalog database
    Create the recovery catalog and then exit. For example, enter:
    RMAN> create catalog;
    RMAN> exit
    Note:
    If you use a release 8.0 RMAN executable to create the catalog, you must use the catrman.sql script to create the recovery catalog.
    Use the 8.1.6 RMAN executable to connect to the newly created recovery catalog:
    % rman catalog rman/rman@rcat
    Recovery Manager: Release 8.1.6.0.0
    RMAN-06008: connected to recovery catalog database
    Upgrade the recovery catalog to release 8.1.6:
    RMAN> upgrade catalog;
    RMAN> exit
    The compatibility level of the recovery catalog is now automatically set to 8.0.4.
    Regards,
    Mohamed Iqbal.

    I'm behind a proxy. In my browser -Chrome, IE and FF- putted the info of the proxy and I can browse. Aldo tried to put the info in the Java "Network Settings". It did not work -the launching of the console-.
    I installed the last Java Web Start in Windows 7 -Java7 Update5-. I disabled my anti-virus and firewall. Always the same result.
    Could you help me please. I don't have idea of what is going on.
    Greetings.
    PD: I tested from other machines of the company and it works. So, I guess is my laptop. I exported the oracle certificates from those machine and imported them into mine.

  • Database Started In Restricted Mode...

    Dear Exports,
    We are using Oracle 10gR2 on Windows server 2008. My database size is approximately 2tb. Now we are going to setup Dataguard for our primary. We started the database with the changer parameters for dataguard and create spfile from pfile. And started the database with Spfile. But after some time i noticed that the database started automatically in Restricted mode. As in our database Previously dataguard was configured, due to the some problem that setup is not working and the logs are not applied in Standby server. I thought may be for this reason database going to restricted mode automatically so i set the log_archive_dest_state_2='DEFFER' and Now I scanned the whore alert.log file and found the same situation of restricted is happening from Jan 2010. Please Suggest some solution how i can over come the problem.
    The alertlog when i started the database recently...

    PROBLEM
    Unable to allocate flashback log of 1946 blocks from
    current recovery area of size 2147483648 bytes.
    Current Flashback database retention is less than target
    because of insufficient space in the flash recovery area.
    Flashback will continue to use available space, but the
    size of the flash recovery area must be increased to meet
    the Flashback database retention target
    Use ALTER SYSTEM SET db_recovery_file_dest_size command
    to add space. DO NOT manually remove flashback log files
    to create space.
    SOLUTION
    Fri Apr 12 19:12:51 2013
    You have following choices to free up space from flash recovery area:
    1. Consider changing RMAN RETENTION POLICY. If you are using Data Guard,
    then consider changing RMAN ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY.
    2. Back up files to tertiary device such as tape using RMAN
    BACKUP RECOVERY AREA command.
    3. Add disk space and increase db_recovery_file_dest_size parameter to
    reflect the new space.
    4. Delete unnecessary files using RMAN DELETE command. If an operating
    system command was used to delete files, then use RMAN CROSSCHECK and
    DELETE EXPIRED commands.

  • Did you have Cloud start failures or a missing health monitor?

    Calling all CQ Cloud'ers.
    Hi, My name is Gary Gilchrist. I work with the engineering team for Adobe CQ Cloud.
    Today I was running some diagnostics on our site. I see that there are a lot of you out there who have got as far as starting your own CQ Cloud. Congratulations!
    But I also see a number of Clouds that have been attempted to be started by different tenants (that's you :)) and never made it as far as the "running" state. There are sometimes good reasons for this, sometimes related to configuration of your Amazon AWS key information. But we're still in Beta and I must admit, we know of a few bugs we still need to iron out.
    I also see that some Clouds were started successfully, yet I do not see the automatic health monitoring that we record for your Cloud. We do that after a Cloud starts so that you can see the CPU, Memory and Disk health of your CQ instances running in your Cloud. You should see this as little green bars in your Cloud detail page.
    I have two questions:
    Did you attempt to start a Cloud (and you believe your AWS credential is valid) yet it failed to completely start up?
    Did you start a Cloud successfully, yet you continued to see "unavailable" (gray bar) as the heath status for ALL the CQ instances in your Cloud? (please note that health monitoring for the Dispatcher is not working. It will fixed with our next update to the site, coming shortly).
    If you did encounter 1 or 2 above please drop a reply on this thread giving only the name of your Cloud (no other personal information necessary) plus anything else you think is useful. We would like to look into it.
    Thanks from the whole team here at Adobe for trying out CQ Cloud!
    Gary.

  • How does works default parameters in a program with logical database PNP?

    Hi Friends,
      I have a basic program, i need to filter info with period parameters in a program that uses logical database PNP, but it doesn't work.
      If i use "person selection period" that it's suposed to filter info according to infotype 0001 (as the sap help says), it doesn't work, i use: PNPBEGPS = today and PNPENDPS = today, and the result it's a lot of registers that doesn't meet that criteria.
      Also i tried with: data selection period, today, up to day, current month. And the result it's with the same problem.
      How does works period parameters in a program with logical database PNP?
    This it's the program example, i use the default category.
    REPORT  ZRPHRTEST.
    tables: pernr.
    infotypes: 0001.
    start-of-selection.
    get pernr.
      write: pernr-pernr, p0001-begda, p0001-endda.
    end-of-selection.
    write 'fin'.

    Hi,
    Define pernr table under tables statement then and use GET PERNR event.This get event is followed by End-Of-Selection.
    Syntax: Tables pernr.
                Get pernr.
    Try, activate and test. This should solve your problem.

  • How to resolve the datasource with Cloudspace database?

    Hi,
    I am running WebLogic 6.1 on Win2k and I have problem with
    Cloudscape database in Default Admin Server.
    === Start init method in myJDBCReadServlet.java ===
    Init Error: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException:
    Unable to resolve MyJDBCDataSource.
    Resolved: '' Unresolved:'MyJDBCDataSource' ; remaining name ''
    === Finish init method in myJDBCReadServlet.java ===
    1. I created simple table in the Cloudscape database using IJ utility and inserted
    some values:
    prompt>java -classpath %CLASSPATH%;..\lib\tools.jar COM.cloudscape.tools.ij
    ij version 3.5 (c) 1997-2000 Informix Software, Inc.
    ij> CONNECT 'jdbc:cloudscape:demo;create=true';
    WARNING 01J01: Database 'demo' not created, connection made to existing database

    * = current connection
    ij> CREATE TABLE employee(name CHAR(25), location CHAR(20), id INTEGER);
    0 rows inserted/updated/deleted
    2. I created Connection Pool and Data Source using Default Console
    The Connection Pool configuration is the following:
    Name : MyJDBC Connection Pool
    URL : jdbc:cloudscape:demo
    Driver Classname: COM.cloudscape.core.JDBCDriver
    Properties : user=none password=none server=none
    My Data Source configuration is the following:
    Name : MyJDBC Data Source
    JNDI Name: MyJDBCDataSource
    Pool Name: MyJDBC Connection Pool
    I added the following line to myserver startup script to point
    to the database location:
    -Dcloudscape.system.home=./samples/eval/cloudscape/data
    3. I wrote the servlet and here is the piece of the myJDBCReadServlet
    code which generated the exception:
    public void init()
    System.out.println("=== Start init method in myJDBCReadServlet.java ===");
    try {
    ctx = new InitialContext();
    ds = (javax.sql.DataSource) ctx.lookup ("MyJDBCDataSource");
    } catch (Exception E) {
    System.out.println("Init Error: " + E);
    System.out.println("=== Finish init method in myJDBCReadServlet.java ===");
    Why it cannot find the database using JNDI name?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated,
    Jacob Nikom

    Great.
    Here is a link where you can find more cloudscape details:

    Problem solved!
    Slava - thank you for your help.
    Yes, cloudscape.jar file should be on the CLASSPATH.
    I also put tools.jar from the same directory (I am not sure
    is it necessary or not, but I did not test it).
    However,it is not enough to run WebLogic with Cloudscape
    successfuly. You have to tell WebLogic where the database
    files are. To do it you have to include start-up option
    in the startWebLogic.cmd file.
    It looks like:
    -Dcloudscape.system.home="C:~\samples\eval\cloudscape\data"
    After that it runs. Actually, the file cloudscape.html in the
    directory ~\samples\eval\cloudscape has quite a bit of information.
    Unfortunately, it is difficult to comprehend it until you understand whatthe
    problem is.

    Jacob

    Hi Slava,
    This is the source of the error:
    <Error> <JDBC>
    <Cannot startup connection pool "MyJDBC_Connection_Pool"
    Cannot load driver class: COM.cloudscape.core.JDBCDriver>
    but I don't know how to fix it.
    I don't know the name of the Cloudscape JDBC driver.
    I looked at cloudscape.jar file and found the following class file:
    COM/cloudscape/core/JDBCDriver.class
    Is it the right driver?
    I tried to use COM.cloudscape.core.XADataSource driver
    classname, but got the same problem - WebLogic cannot find it.
    Which .jar file has correct Cloudscape JDBC driver?
    What else should I do to ensure that driver loads properly?
    Thank you,

    Hi Slava,
    Thank you for your response. I am sending you the full
    log as .txt file attachment. It is not very large in order
    to zip it.
    I added some Cloudscape parameters to the startup script,
    so you can see them there. They show to the WebLogic where
    the database is located.
    Also, I think the database was running because I could see
    my tables using IJ utility (Cloudscape tool), however I am
    not sure how Cloudscape exactly starts and runs.
