Testing OData Service on SMP3

Here's what I've done so far:
Created an OData model in GWPA, deployed to SMP3 Integration Gateway, wide open access, I can pull up the service document on the Integration Gateway, I created an application definition in the Admin Cockpit, created a SQL Server JDBC destination, set service document URL to application connection, created a starter HTML5 hybrid application in GWPA, and exported the WAR file.
Questions
- Is there a way to test the JDBC destination connection that we create in the SMP Admin cockpit?
- I'm assuming SMP3 runs on a version of Tomcat. I dropped the HTML5 war file in C:\SAP\MobilePlatform3\Server\pickup, can I view it in browser? What's the URL to it?
I'm just trying to do an end-to-end proof of concept of creating an OData service in GWPA against a JDBC source, and consuming it with an HTML5 application.
Thanks!
DJ

Hi JK,

Any ideas?
You may check details about created destinations here

Isn't this more for the services, not the destinations?
Thanks for your swift responses!

  • Testing tools for OData services

    Hi all,
    I managed to get my oData services up and running on my local/Cloud HANA server, using Olingo libraries and JPA.
    Now I'd like to test my services. I can test the queries from the browser and from multiple clients found on the web.
    However PUT/POST requests require to type in manually the body, and this is really time-consuming.
    As a consequence, I'm looking for any tool which could generate POST/PUT request body for oData (much like XMLSpy/soapUI does for SOAP)
    There is no SAP NW Gateway in my landscape so it is not an option, I'd like a desktop tool or browser plugin
    Does anyone know whether such a tool exists?
    Thanks, Regards
    Vincenzo

    Hi Vicenzo,
    you can use the Chrome plugin Postman REST Client. There are two versions available, an extension and a packaged app. I've installed both, but only the extension is able to use the authentication cookie. Thus the packaged app is not suitable if you want to test service which require authentication.

  • Error while running an Odata service in Advanced Rest Client

    Hi Experts,
    We have created one simple OData model (using Integration gateway) with datasource as SOAP web service. We are able to test the SOAP Web service in STORM tool and getting desired response. But when we run the converted OData URL in Advanced REST Client we are getting the following exceptions/errors.

    Also, while looking at SMP3 server log, we came across below error logs:

  • Anyone been able to get the sap.ca.ui.FileUpload control working with a Gateway OData service?

    Hi,
    I have been trying to get the sap.ca.ui.FileUpload control working with an OData Gateway service, specifically /IWPGW/TASKPROCESSING which is the service used by both Fiori Approve Requests and the Unified Inbox.
    I have looked at the sample application in the Explored at SAPUI5 Explored
    I have managed to replicate that and get it to work, but as soon as I switch it from a JSONModel to an ODataModel I get javascript errors from within the setModel method of the control. I have redefined that method and corrected the errors, which enables me to get a bit further, but then I hit more errors, and other strange behaviour.
    Either I am doing something completely wrong, or to me it appears as if this control is still extremely buggy and maybe either not designed to work with an ODataModel, or just hasn't been tested using an ODataModel. I'm hoping it is my mistake.
    So has anybody out there successfully managed to use this control connecting it to a Gateway OData service? If so please share your experience.
    Thanks,
    Brad

    Hi Pauline,
    Same issue I had, I switched to using a sap.m.list and handling the press as follows:
    attachmentsList.bindItems(workItemPath + "/Attachments", new sap.m.StandardListItem({
                               type: sap.m.ListType.Active,
                               title: "{FileName}",
                               description: "{CreatedByName}",
                               icon: "sap-icon://doc-attachment",
    //                         counter: "{FileSize}",
                          info: {path : "CreatedAt", formatter: dateTimeFormatter},
                          tap: function(oEvent){
                                var oContext = oEvent.getSource().getBindingContext();
                                var media_src = oContext.getProperty().__metadata.media_src;
                                sap.m.URLHelper.redirect(media_src, true);
                        }), new sap.ui.model.Sorter("CreatedAt", true));
    So sap.m.URLHelper.redirect(media_src, true); is what loads the attachment.
    See the full function handler:
    function(oEvent){
    function(oEvent){
                  var oContext = oEvent.getSource().getBindingContext();
                  var media_src = oContext.getProperty().__metadata.media_src;
            sap.m.URLHelper.redirect(media_src, true);
    This should be enough if you only want to list and display the attachments, then you don't really need the FileUploader control as that is more advanced and handles upload, display, change and deletion of files.
    I only needed to upload and display files, so I used a list to display it and created a separate upload button using the sap.ui.unified.FileUploader control.
    Hope that helps.
    Cheers,
    Brad

  • Unable to parse the OData service in JSON

  • Error connecting OData service with Appbuilder

    Hello,
    I have created an OData service with SAP Netweaver Gateway and there isn't any problem while testing the service on the browser.
    I made all the right settings in SMP 3.0 and the system is reached successfully from the server.I am developing the app with appbuilder so when trying to connect with SMP onboarding service there is the following error. Failed to get Service metadata.I can see the metadata in the browser so i can not understand what this error means.
    If anybody can help it would be very useful because im in a deadlock.
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi IIliona,
    I am facing the same error
    I can see the metadata in the browser.
    The operation of entity set returns correct results as well.
    Did you fix the it?  If yes, do you mind sharing your solution?
    Thanks!!

  • Testing OData in a UI5 App

    Hi there,
    i'm trying to write some tests in Javascript/ UI5 concerning OData.
    I have found this document : OData acceptance tests with QUnit and datajs explaining what i need.
    The problem is that i do not manage to make it work.
    Here is my code ( test ) :
    module( "Tests ODatas" );
    var request1 = {
            method: 'GET',
            resourcePath: "Cars(1)",
            headers: {Accept: "application/atom+xml"}
    var callback1 = function (response, data) {
        equal(response.statusCode, 200, "StatusCode: 200");
        expectedHeaders(response.headers,{ "Content-Type" : "application/atom+xml" }, "Content-Type: application/atom+xml" );
        equal(data.Model, "F1 W03", "test du model de voiture");
    var request2 = {
            method: 'DELETE',
            resourcePath: "Cars(9999)",
            headers: {Accept: "application/atom+xml"}
    var callback2 = function (response, data) {
        equal(response.statusCode, 200, "StatusCode: 200");
    odataTest("qunit-odata1", 3, request1,callback1);
    odataTest("qunit-odata2", 1, request2,callback2);
    I want the first test to pass, and the second to fail.
    And the result is (firebug's logs in the 2nd part) :
    1/ The first test is not completed
    2/ The second test is not even launched
    3/The "Module" does not appear before test's name
    4/ "0 tests of 0 passed, 0 failed" ??
    Can somebody help me to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Marc

    Did you specify data-service-root like:
      <script src="qunit-odata.js" data-service-root="/ZPSA/proxy_abap/sap/opu/odata/sap/ZPSA_SRV/"></script>

  • Getting error while quering the odata service

    Hi Everyone,
    I have used "Query Service(Method => EMPLOYEECOLLECTI_GET_ENTITYSET)"  for update data to backend system and I have written logic in that method from the below link:
    http://scn.sap.com/community/netweaver-gateway/blog/2014/03/06/let-s-code-crudq-and-function-import-operations-in-odata-service.
    But when I test in SAP NW Gateway Client I am getting below error
    Browser showing below output/error
    Kindly help me on this
    Regards,
    Soumya

    Hello Sowmya,
    It cannot happen that GW is throwing EMPLOYEECOLLECTI_GET_ENTITYSET is not implemented even after you have written code in that method by redefining it.
    I could see that you are raising an exception in the code shared by you here . i.e.,
    RAISE EXCEPTION TYPE /iwbep/cx_mgw_not_impl_exc
        EXPORTING
          textid = /iwbep/cx_mgw_not_impl_exc=>method_not_implemented
          method = 'EMPLOYEECOLLECTI_GET_ENTITYSET'.
    Please remove above code and return your response as below.
    copy_data_to_ref( EXPORTING is_data = et_tab CHANGING cr_data = er_entityset )
    where et_tab is your local table where you would have stored the results which you intend to send back to GW. i.e., et_entityset in your case
    Activate DPC class and check.
    This should resolve the issue

  • HANA odata service issue

    Hi,
    I've created at basic odata service on my AWS HANA Instance but I'm having issues when testing in the browser.
    Whenever I add the parameter "inlinecount=allpages" as a parameter to the service call I get the error -
    400 Bad Request Error - "Service exception: column store error."
    e.g. http://<hanaserver>:8000/com/kringas/temperature/services/tempService.xsodata/StationDetails?$top=3&$format=json&$inlinecount=allpages
    If I remove the parameter or have it set to "inlinecount=none" the service works correctly, returning the expected results.
    e.g. http://<hanaserver>:8000/com/kringas/temperature/services/tempService.xsodata/StationDetails?$top=3&$format=json&$inlinecount=none
    The reason I need it to work with the "inlinecount=allpages" set is the SAPUI5 app where I'm trying to bind the odata service to a table seems to append this parameter to the service call.
    Thanks,
    Stephen

    &$count=allpages works but
    $inlinecount=allpages gives the below error :
    <error xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/ado/2007/08/dataservices/metadata">
    <code/>
    <message xml:lang="en-US">
    Service exception: column store error.
    </message>
    </error>
    I have the exact same situation that since it is internally placed by UI5 API.
    Were you able to find the solution / work around for that ?

  • How to test RESTful service?

    Hello Everyone!
    Working on APEX REST services, my query is in regard with the below link:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/doc.42/e35128/restful_svc.htm#autoId6
    In the above link, heading '5.5.2 Retrieving Data Based on a Parameter (employees/{id})' -> points from 1. -to- .8 are covered.
    Stuck on point '9. Click Set Bind Variables.', I cannot find this link on that page under my Development environment Application Express 4.2.0.00.27.
    Kindly help to locate this link so that I can test my service?
    For more clarity, please click below image link
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/cloud/dbservice/restfulws/images/t2_02.jpg
    The mouse cursor is placed at the end of the page on one of the two buttons 'Test' & 'Set Bind Variables', my development environment doesn't show these buttons. Anyone know why is this happening?
    - Krishna Vashistha

    Okay, I have got this sort out on my own.
    For the record, you must update you apex listener with new release apex_listener.2.0.5.287.04.27, which supports RESTful services. By updating you will see those two missing buttons 'Test' & 'Set Bind Variables', to test your newly created service.

  • SEGW : Copy Project vs Redefine(OData Service)

    Dear Friends,
    This is regarding the differences between various modeling approaches in SEGW
    1. An Existing Project ( and Technical Service , say, Parent 1.0 ) is live
    2. A new Project ( and Technical Service , say, Child 1.0) is to be implemented.
    What is the real difference between
    (A) ... copying the existing project "Parent" to  "Child" and publishing the Technical service as "Child 1.0"
    (B) ...copying the existing project "Parent" to  "Child" and publishing the Technical service as "Parent 2.0"
    (C) ...Redefining the "Parent 1.0" in a new project "Child" and "Overwrite Base/Extend the Service" ...which publishes the Technical Service as "Parent 1.0"
    (D) ...Redefining the "Parent 1.0" in a new project "Child" ..without "Overwrite Base/Extend the Service" .. and publish the Technical Service as "Child 1.0"
    In other words, what really is the idea of "Redefine >OData Service (GW)" ...( with / without "Overwrite Base/Extend the Service" )
    Many thanks for your patience
    Suresh

    Hi Suresh,
    by copying the project you create a complete independent new project, which does not have any relation to the original project. The runtime objects (model provider classes and data provider classes) are independent from those of the first project.
    By redefining the project you can select which entities and which associations you want to use in your child project. Those redefined objects can't be changed in the child project, you only can redefine names and labels. On the other hand if you change any of the redefined object attributes in the parent project the changes will also be available in the child project.
    And the data provider class of the child project inherits from the one of the parent project.
    So you have a real parent-child relationship.
    Redefining with option "Extend" means to add objects of the parent project, which haven't been redefined before.
    Redefining with option "Overwrite" means to redo the redefinition. All redefinitions done earlier will be overwritten. Objects which had been redefined before, but are not selected in the new redefinition will be deleted from the child project.
    Hope that makes it a little bit clearer.
    Regards,
    Juergen

  • Run time error while testing a service through transaction SICF/SOAMANAGER

    Hi all,
    We created a service for publishing the function module in web services through WSDL. When we try to test the service using SICF transaction / SOAMANAGER transaction, we get a run time error.
    We are not sure whether any other  settings or steps required for testing the web services..
    Could you please let us know which steps/configurations we are missing?
    Details of the run time error.

    Please ask you Basis admin to perform the following.
    1) Check wether the Java Stack ( Portal, BI system etc) is avaliable in your landscape.
    2) Execute tcode SOAMANAGER in ECC system. This will take you to a new browser where you have to login with your SAP username and password. Under SOA MANAGEMENT you can see Technical Configuration tab>click on System Global Settings>and select Access Information J2EE server. Here provide the hostname and the port number. Save the entries.
    3)Execute tcode SMICM>Goto>Services. Here you can check for the HTTP Service Name/Port number
    4) Activate the required services from tcode SICF

    HI,
    RFc is not called becuase:
    1. we tried RFC debuggin with proper user. it never stopped at break point.
    2. TCODE: sxmb_moni in PI did not show any entry for incoming messages.
    The import bindings are proper. We tried using .execute(1) , nothing happened.
    We are able execute freely avaliable Web service but not the one exposed from PI.
    Hence we feel their is problem between PDF and PI itself.
    The user we put in the pop up is SERVICE USER. The PI consultant uses the same user and is able to execute but from PDF we are not able to execute.
    We also tried with a DIALOG USER with same roles and authhorizations as the SERVICE USER. BUt still it did not execute.

  • Error while testing SAML service in PI7.1

    Hello all,
    I am creating a SAML secured service in PI 7.1
    I have used WS adapter in sender communication channel and reciever as RFC adapter to extract data from the system.
    I have done the necessary config in sender and receiver agreement and created the wsdl manually.
    Now to test that service i have created another component as the client.
    The sender is the SOAP channel and in the receiver, WS adapter is used.
    With these basic configurations, i have created another wsdl file which invokes my previous service.
    When i tested the new wsdl i get an error.

      <SAP:P2 />

    Kindly guide me as to what is to be done for creation of logical port in *NWA as this tool is available for PI7.1 for me.

    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,
    What I meant to say is that there are multiple levels of settings required to enable SAML based communication. I wanted to ask you if you have already done those configurations.
    See the image given at following URL.

    As you can see there is multiple parties involved in the overall SAML authentication process.
    May be following blog will be helpful.
