Testing of Java applications over various networks?

Hi,
If we write an application in java and lets say it works on a device running on GPRS network. How would we know if it would run fine over CDMA, CDG, WCDMA or other networks?

There are emulators that allow you to test your J2ME application on various devices, however the emulators do not emulate the network topology of those device, bur rather simply redirect the network calls to the pc's local tcpip stack.
In order to effectively test your applications on various network enviroments you would physically have to load and run your app on a device connected to such an enviroment.
Hope this helps.

  • 2630. java applications. Allow network access?

when entering some java application on nokia 2630 ,for example google maps, it asks:
"Allow network access? the application is not from a trusted supplier" for three times. On the fourth time: "try again later or try to install new version".
Some other applications are working allmost properly... but they use to ask every 5-10 seconds the same question: "Allow network access? The application is not..."
And some applications are working correctly. miniopera and jimm.
So, the problem is not in gprs settings.
What can i do with this problem?

You can either try to get hold of a trusted build of the application you want to run or you can change the Application access setting. When you have an application selected, click Option then Application Access and set the Network access Ask first time only.

It looks like jdb is trying to connect over shared memory instead of using sockets.
Trying jdb -attach localhost:9000 has the same effect.
I can however connect to the running Java program using the Eclipse debugger using a remote configuration.
What can I do that jdb will use sockets?
    I'm using Windows 2000 SP4 and Java 1.5.0_07.
    Many thanks in advance

    jdb -help says:
    -attach <address>
attach to a running VM at the specified address using standard connector
On Windows the 'standard', ie. default, connector uses the shared memory transport.
To connect to a socket, you need to tell jdb to use the socket attaching connector, ie
    jdb -connect com.sun.jdi.SocketAttach:port=9000
It is hard to remember the names and params of all the connectors. You can do
    jdb -listconnectors
    to refresh your memory.

  • Load and stress testing a Java application

I have an application I've built that has load balancing built into it. I'm looking for a tool that I can use to simulate load against the application to watch the load balancing as it works. I downloaded WAPT, which is a really nice tool, but what it does is grab the HTTP requests made during the recording of browser actions. So, when I run it during the recording, the request gets sent to a specific server, as it should. The problem is that server is now statically defined in the script and when the script is run, ALL requests go directly to that machine instead of being load balanced.
Has anyone run into this before? Any suggestions on a tool I can use to simulate mouse clicks, instead of simply simulating HTTP requests?

Runtime.getRuntime().exec(...) is how you do it
    Hope that helps

  • Batch upgrading client JRE's over Windows network

Does anyone know of a tool or method that can be used to force/exert upgrade of windows client JREs on all machines within a domain/network? This prob won't be anything to do with java, and rather it will most likely be a admin tool used to rollout any application over windows networks. Just thought someone might have used it for java.

You can use the login script, SMS, Zenworks, Footprint, Altiris, Orbiter, AD policies, Managesoft, or any other systems management software. Some of these are better suited for large organizations but others work well within a smaller group. Talk to your systems/network administrator? They can't all be rabid.
The key is to create a completely silent installation. Here's the install string for jre 1.4.2_01. If you paste this into a command prompt (ensuring that your either use the full path to the exe file, or make that directory active), it will install silently with all defaults. Using one of the tools above, you can update every machine in your organization.
    j2re-1_4_2_01-windows-i586.exe /S /V"/qr /l %LOGDIR%\J2RE-1.4.2_01\JRE142.log REBOOT=SUPPRESS ALLUSERS=1"
Make sure the %logdir% is created prior to running this string.
    Hope this helps,

  • Testing of Java J2ME on BREW simulator

    Dear friends,
I have developed a Java J2ME application and wishes to test it on a BREW simulator. I understand that the simulator runs BREW applications written in C/C++. I sincerely like to seek your kind assistance on where I can find the necessary JVM and J2Bridge to test my Java application on the BREW emulator. This will aid in my porting of my Java application onto the BREW platform.
Any suggestion on BREW emulators supporting JAVA and further infomation is greatly appreciated!
    Many thanks!
    Regards,
    Chai Ming Jie

Rumour has it BREW 2.0 and upwards supports running MIDlets. I haven't used it, don't know if it works (in fact, rumour also has it that it doesn't work on any of the phones available today), but that's the word.
I'm sure you'll get better answers to a question like this on a BREW forum, though.

  • Communicate over a network

I have been searching for an answer for this for a while and haven't found anything.
What i want is to have the same application running on 2 computers that are networked. I have the internal IP address of each machine. When the user on one computer pushes a button, then some data is sent over the network and add to a table view. The ideal situation would be to call an applescript handler on the remote application to add the data to the table. Preferably i would like to use remote apple events, and not ssh.
    Thanks for any help.

This is fairly straightforward, provided the application(s) in question support AppleScript.
There are two basic elements to it.
First write the script so that it works locally, using normal 'tell application "x"' syntax.
Secondly enable Remote Apple Events (via System Preferences -> Sharing)
Now all you need to do it link the two together which is done by a minor tweak to your 'tell application command.
Ordinarily, when running locally, you say:
    tell application "x"
      -- your commands here
    end tell
To target the application over the network you use the form:
tell application "x" of machine "eppc://ip.of.remote.machine/"
      -- your commands here
    end tell
The "... of machine..." syntax targets the remote machine and, provided Remote Apple Events are enabled, should do what you want.

  • Running a java program over network

    Hi,
How a java program on a machine can be run without having JRE on the same machine, rather interpreting bytecode over network having JRE on another machine?

    Rahul.Kumar wrote:
well, so my java program is running on x. Initialy X had JRE and on invoking java program from command prompt, it had looked for JRE at path, set in environmental settings. Now I moved JRE to another machine Y and connected these two machines (X and Y). You have two machines X and Y.
"Connected" or not has nothing to do with this discussion.
In X path is set to the JRE on Y. The path on X has absolutely nothing to do with anything on Y.
Now execute java program on X, theoretically it should work or what is wrong with this? This makes no sense. Presuming you meant Y in the above then the following must be true.
    1. You must have a JRE on Y.
    2. You must have a java application on Y (or one accessible via the file system on Y.)
    3. You must be on Y and start the JRE passing the java application that is on Y to it.
Notice in the above there is no mention of X. There can be no mention of X.

  • Testing thru NWDS: Error replaying a recorded Web dynpro java application

    Hello Experts,
I am trying to test a web dynpro for java application using the record and replay facility provided in NWDS. I have gone through the documentation provided under the head "Testing Web Dynpro Applications in the Developer Studio" at help.sap.com
    <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/c1/c6213e225f9a0be10000000a114084/frameset.htm">http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/c1/c6213e225f9a0be10000000a114084/frameset.htm</a>
The testing seems pretty straight forward..
I am able to record a web dynpro application and it generates a test script file with extension .testscript but when i replay the generated test script it gives me the following error:
<b>-->Contacting XML Client on Server to get initial XML document.
ERROR: Contacted the Xml client on the J2EE Server, but did not receive an Xml document from it.
    ******************************</b>
    or sometimes this error:
<b>-->Contacting XML Client on Server to get initial XML document.
ERROR: Cannot contact the XML Client on the J2EE Server.
    ******************************</b>
Seems like some configuration needs to be done at the J2EE server level enabling some XML service etc.
I will be highly obliged if someone can guide me how to remove this error and replay the recorded application..

  • Use loadrunner to test Web Dynpro Java Application

    Hi Gurus,
I'm using Loadrunner 11.0 to do load test to Web Dynpro Java Application. At first, I used web(http/html) protocel script, and I could record the whole business process successfully.  But the script seems very hard to understand. For example, the following script is so complex.

    Hi Zhihua,
First delete all the cookies from your browser.
Close all the internet sessions which are opened in your system. During your script recording
Open only 1 session which you will be recording for java script.
The above mention log is the cookies from the internet explorer.
its of no use for the script you can even delete from the script.

    hi,
there is a possibility of creating executables from java classes: Microsoft Visual J++
However, you'll always need a virtual machine, even the executables created with MSVJ++ require the Microsoft Virtual Machine - either bundled with the exe file or installed on the user's system.

  • Modifying JAR file using java.util.jar package  over the network

    Hello,
I am modifying a JAR file programmatically using java.util.jar package. The time taken to save the contents to a local disk is very less (around 1 sec) . When I tried modifying the JAR from a remote machine over the network (from mapped drive or shared folder of WIN NT), the time taken to save is 15-20 times more.
I am recreating the whole JAR while modifying. Is there any way to improve the performance. Or is it possible to write only the changed files?
    Thanks,
    Prasad Y S.

When you "update" a jar file, you must always recreate it from scratch.
