TestStand always load previously used file on startup

Hi,
I have a problem with my TestStand operator interface (Full featured CVI). When I open TestStand, it loads previously used sequence file by default. How could I turn it OFF.
In my Station Options, Preferences tab, Re-load last workspace at startup was not selected, which I expect Teststand not to load the previous workspace.
The only solution to avoid this problem sofar is  Whenever I finish, I have to close the sequence file first and then the teststand window. But this is not possible all the time.
Has anybody have the same problem??
Thanks
mama007

Two issues with that:
a) You would need to get a reference to the ApplicationMgr from your sequence. The next version of TestStand will provide an easy way to get the ApplicationMgr, so this problem will go away. Before the next version, it might not be practical to do this without modifying the OI.
b) By the time your sequence runs, the files are already loaded. The setting change would apply to the next launch of you operator interface, but you would have to explicitly close all the open files when you first changing the setting. In the next version, when you are able to get the ApplicationMgr, this will be doable in one line simple line of code or in one step in a sequence.

    Hi,
You will have to write a code module, in one of the supported languages, such LabVIEW, C, to do this function.
You could also use the PropertyLoader to load a variable or a step property, but the file has to be formatted in a certain way. The Reference Manual page D-6 will explain this.

  • Distribution won't create .cds file or load previous .cds file

I have successfully created a distribution for my CVI8.0.1 application, and deployed it with no problems.  However, although the settings work, a .cds file never gets created - I checked in the directory.  When I close CVI and start it up again, it complains that the .cds file is missing.  My distribution settings are gone, and I have start all over again, from 'Manage Distributions > New' etc.  I also can not add a .cds file to the Manage Distributions->Add that I can see in the directory and that has beeen previously created.
This is  new thing, I was previosly able to create .cds files and load previously created .cds files. Nothing, as far as I know has changed on my PC.  I am running Windows XP.  I reinstalled CVI but it did not help.
All of the code is in clearcase, several people (at different times) edit the files in the project and create distributions.  Other people also running CVI8.0.1 can create .cds files.
    What can I do?
    Lorrie

I've made a modified version of cvi.dll to log some operations. Swap the attached version out with the one in your National Instruments\CVI80 directory (make sure to back up the original so you can restore it later). Then launch CVI, open the Manage Distributions dialog, and try to add an existing .cds file. Close CVI, then look for the log file c:\cvi_log.txt and post it back here.
Hopefully if we can figure out what's failing in the add, it will explain why the save is failing, too.

  • Loading a text file on startup into a hashtable

I am trying to load to seperate textfiles into the same hashtable.
The textfiles are something like an employee and employee number everything goes in at the same time. How do i load these text files into the hashtable. Also any good tutorials or code samples on hashtables would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks In Advance

You read the text files, one line at a time, and break up each line in whatever way you need to. Then you choose the bits to put in the hashtable (key and value) for each line and put those bits into the hashtable.

  • Firefox always loads previous session despite the option set to show hompage on start up.

Last night, a problem began occurring when I launched Firefox. Every time I open my browser, it launches the previous session from when I last closed it. The problem persists despite many attempted fixes.
The option "When Firefox starts" is set to "Show my homepage". I've restarted my computer and ended the process, so I know that Firefox doesn't have a window or process still running.
I've tried deleting sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak but that only works once and then it goes back to opening whatever tabs and windows I had open when I last closed Firefox. I've reinstalled Firefox with no results and cleared all private data except history and it didn't do anything.
I didn't install anything or update any add-ons or extensions, but it just started occurring after a normal browsing session. I've tried to find other solutions, but nothing I have found has worked. Does anyone have any new solutions or suggestions?

Is wolfenstein a wine game? If so There are a bunch of optional dependencies for wine. You can see them if you do "pacman -Qi wine" (same for any installed program in Arch unless installed without pacman/PKGBUILD).  Some that I have installed are:
    lib32-alsa-lib
    lib32-libpulse
If the game is a 32 bit windows game running through wine you may need some of these. If that doesn't work you can run it through the pulseaudio wrapper like this: "padsp wine /path/to/game.exe" Where /path/to/game.exe is the path to your wolfenstein executable. You can also check your sound settings with a program called "winecfg" (the defaults work fine for me though). To verify that your game is using pulseaudio there is a program called "pavucontrol" that will tell you all of the programs currently using sound through pulseaudio. Hope that helps.
Edit: Also found this which may be of interest I don't know: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/et-sdl-sound/

  • Cannot load previously used apps to iPad1

I have my original iPad 1 that I am giving to my daughter just for Facebook, Nook and Kindle apps. These are all apps that I used on it before, but after resetting it to load everything in her name I get the message when trying to load that they need IOS 7 or higher. This original iPad can only go up to IOS 5.1.1. Is there a way to load workable versions of these apps on the iPad 1?  As I said, they were all on this iPad using the 5.1.1 OS before.

Sometimes, trying to download the older version of an app directly on the iPad may not work. If you do not get the option to download the older version of the apps on the iPad itself, you can try downloading the most recent versions of the apps in iTunes on your computer. By doing this, the apps will appear in your purchased tab of the App Store. When you try to download them from the purchased tab, you should get the message that the latest version will not run on your iPad and you should be given the option at that point to download the version that is compatible with your device.
You have nothing to lose by doing this since all three of those apps are free. Or at least as far as I know all are free.z

  • TestStand Property Loader using a XML file

I would like to use Labview Cluster to build XML files (in LabView 6.1) that could be use by TestStand Property Loader.
    Is it possible?
    Harold Hebert

    Harold,
The TestStand Property Loader step type only loads text, comma-delimited, or excel files.
As alternatives, you could make your own step type that would parse through the XML file to find the properties that you want to load. You could also use the excel VIs to write variable values to an excel file.
    Good luck!

  • How to load a config file at appliaction startup

    Hi
Is there a way to load a config file at application startup?
I have the DB conection info in a config file.
Right now m accessing that info by loading it using a classloader n then parsing it.
When ever i access the DB this file is loaded n parsed.
I want it to be loaded only once at startup n get cached.
Then later on whenever i refer it, i shud get the cached copy.
Is there a way to do this?

Or you could just include a relevant static block.
For instance you could have a utility class for accessing your DB in which you wrap jdbc code for querying, updating etc. This class would have code like the following:
    public class DBBean {
       private static DataSource ds = null;
       static {
          loadDataSource();
       public static loadDataSource() {
// load your property file with the configuration info and setup your datasource
       public static void doSomething() {
          Connection con = ds.getConnection();
}By placing initialization code in a public (?) method you can call this method to re-initialize your DataSource if e.g. you updated your datasource settings.
    Hope this helps

  • Partitioning previously used Windows NT File System for use with Mac and PC

    Hi there,
I am about to follow your advice also for the same issue, the worry I have is that when I select partition 1, it says "To erase and partition the selected disk..." and so I am worried that if I do this it will erase the current contents of the hard disk drive (which were copied there from PCs in previous use).
If so, is there a way to use the hard disk drive with a mac without erasing the contents?
    Thanks
Your case is different and NO do not partition the EHD yet unless you are prepared to completely erase your PC data. Before progressing though, do you intend to share the EHD with a PC and your Mac? If so this is not advisable but it is possible, however you will need to compromise. Please answer that question first and then we can proceed with some advice.
BTW it's generally not a good idea to ask a question in a thread that has already been answered, particularly one that is 3+ years old! In such a case it's normally better to create your own thread. "
The answer to the question in the above comment is that ideally I would like to use with both Mac and PC, why is this not advisable?
Please discuss my best options. I am wondering if I could transfer the current contents of the disk drive elsewhere, partition (which would erase) the disk drive, then put back the contents along with the new files which I have been trying to put on in the first place?
If this were to work would I then be tied down to only using this disk drive with a Mac?
    Thank you.

Ideally it is best to have seperate (discreet) EHD's for a PC and Mac due to their differences in HD formatting. However, this is not always feasable but there are alternative solutions availble. Among those are:
Creating and useing a Dropbox account that can be shared by PCs, Macs, IOS and Android devices. Dropbox allows for 2GB of free storage and additional storage is available for a small monthly fee.
Another possiblity is formating an EHD so that it may be shared by both a PC and Mac, this format is FAT 32. The downside of doing this is the size of the files written to the HD are limited to 4GB.

  • Data loading from flat file to cube using bw3.5

    Hi Experts,
Kindly give  me the detailed steps with screens  about Data loading from flat file to cube using bw3.5
           ...............Please

    Hi ,
    Procedure
You are in the Data Warehousing Workbench in the DataSource tree.
           1.      Select the application components in which you want to create the DataSource and choose Create DataSource.
           2.      On the next screen, enter a technical name for the DataSource, select the type of DataSource and choose Copy.
    The DataSource maintenance screen appears.
           3.      Go to the General tab page.
                                a.      Enter descriptions for the DataSource (short, medium, long).
                                b.      As required, specify whether the DataSource builds an initial non-cumulative and can return duplicate data records within a request.
                                c.      Specify whether you want to generate the PSA for the DataSource in the character format. If the PSA is not typed it is not generated in a typed structure but is generated with character-like fields of type CHAR only.
Use this option if conversion during loading causes problems, for example, because there is no appropriate conversion routine, or if the source cannot guarantee that data is loaded with the correct data type.
In this case, after you have activated the DataSource you can load data into the PSA and correct it there.
           4.      Go to the Extraction tab page.
                                a.      Define the delta process for the DataSource.
                                b.      Specify whether you want the DataSource to support direct access to data.
                                c.      Real-time data acquisition is not supported for data transfer from files.
                                d.      Select the adapter for the data transfer. You can load text files or binary files from your local work station or from the application server.
Text-type files only contain characters that can be displayed and read as text. CSV and ASCII files are examples of text files. For CSV files you have to specify a character that separates the individual field values. In BI, you have to specify this separator character and an escape character which specifies this character as a component of the value if required. After specifying these characters, you have to use them in the file. ASCII files contain data in a specified length. The defined field length in the file must be the same as the assigned field in BI.
Binary files contain data in the form of Bytes. A file of this type can contain any type of Byte value, including Bytes that cannot be displayed or read as text. In this case, the field values in the file have to be the same as the internal format of the assigned field in BI.
Choose Properties if you want to display the general adapter properties.
                                e.      Select the path to the file that you want to load or enter the name of the file directly, for example C:/Daten/US/Kosten97.csv.
You can also create a routine that determines the name of your file. If you do not create a routine to determine the name of the file, the system reads the file name directly from the File Name field.
                                  f.      Depending on the adapter and the file to be loaded, make further settings.
    ■       For binary files:
Specify the character record settings for the data that you want to transfer.
    ■       Text-type files:
Specify how many rows in your file are header rows and can therefore be ignored when the data is transferred.
Specify the character record settings for the data that you want to transfer.
    For ASCII files:
If you are loading data from an ASCII file, the data is requested with a fixed data record length.
    For CSV files:
If you are loading data from an Excel CSV file, specify the data separator and the escape character.
Specify the separator that your file uses to divide the fields in the Data Separator field.
If the data separator character is a part of the value, the file indicates this by enclosing the value in particular start and end characters. Enter these start and end characters in the Escape Charactersfield.
You chose the; character as the data separator. However, your file contains the value 12;45 for a field. If you set u201C as the escape character, the value in the file must be u201C12;45u201D so that 12;45 is loaded into BI. The complete value that you want to transfer has to be enclosed by the escape characters.
If the escape characters do not enclose the value but are used within the value, the system interprets the escape characters as a normal part of the value. If you have specified u201C as the escape character, the value 12u201D45 is transferred as 12u201D45 and 12u201D45u201D is transferred as 12u201D45u201D.
In a text editor (for example, Notepad) check the data separator and the escape character currently being used in the file. These depend on the country version of the file you used.
Note that if you do not specify an escape character, the space character is interpreted as the escape character. We recommend that you use a different character as the escape character.
If you select the Hex indicator, you can specify the data separator and the escape character in hexadecimal format. When you enter a character for the data separator and the escape character, these are displayed as hexadecimal code after the entries have been checked. A two character entry for a data separator or an escape sign is always interpreted as a hexadecimal entry.
                                g.      Make the settings for the number format (thousand separator and character used to represent a decimal point), as required.
                                h.      Make the settings for currency conversion, as required.
                                  i.      Make any further settings that are dependent on your selection, as required.
           5.      Go to the Proposal tab page.
This tab page is only relevant for CSV files. For files in different formats, define the field list on the Fields tab page.
Here you create a proposal for the field list of the DataSource based on the sample data from your CSV file.
                                a.      Specify the number of data records that you want to load and choose Upload Sample Data.
The data is displayed in the upper area of the tab page in the format of your file.
The system displays the proposal for the field list in the lower area of the tab page.
                                b.      In the table of proposed fields, use Copy to Field List to select the fields you want to copy to the field list of the DataSource. All fields are selected by default.
           6.      Go to the Fields tab page.
Here you edit the fields that you transferred to the field list of the DataSource from the Proposal tab page. If you did not transfer the field list from a proposal, you can define the fields of the DataSource here.
                                a.      To define a field, choose Insert Row and specify a field name.
                                b.      Under Transfer, specify the decision-relevant DataSource fields that you want to be available for extraction and transferred to BI.
                                c.      Instead of generating a proposal for the field list, you can enter InfoObjects to define the fields of the DataSource. Under Template InfoObject, specify InfoObjects for the fields in BI. This allows you to transfer the technical properties of the InfoObjects into the DataSource field.
Entering InfoObjects here does not equate to assigning them to DataSource fields. Assignments are made in the transformation. When you define the transformation, the system proposes the InfoObjects you entered here as InfoObjects that you might want to assign to a field.
                                d.      Change the data type of the field if required.
                                e.      Specify the key fields of the DataSource.
These fields are generated as a secondary index in the PSA. This is important in ensuring good performance for data transfer process selections, in particular with semantic grouping.
                                  f.      Specify whether lowercase is supported.
                                g.      Specify whether the source provides the data in the internal or external format.
                                h.      If you choose the external format, ensure that the output length of the field (external length) is correct. Change the entries, as required.
                                  i.      If required, specify a conversion routine that converts data from an external format into an internal format.
                                  j.      Select the fields that you want to be able to set selection criteria for when scheduling a data request using an InfoPackage. Data for this type of field is transferred in accordance with the selection criteria specified in the InfoPackage.
                                k.      Choose the selection options (such as EQ, BT) that you want to be available for selection in the InfoPackage.
                                  l.      Under Field Type, specify whether the data to be selected is language-dependent or time-dependent, as required.
           7.      Check, save and activate the DataSource.
           8.      Go to the Preview tab page.
If you select Read Preview Data, the number of data records you specified in your field selection is displayed in a preview.
This function allows you to check whether the data formats and data are correct.

  • Make sql*loader always create a bad file

on day 1, i run the sql*loader program to load table A; 6 records reject from the load and go to the bad file; our users have a link that they review to see the records in the bad file
on day 2, i run the sql*loader program to load table A; no records reject this time, so a bad file isn't created; however the link that was established for our users still points to the bad file from the previous day's run
is there a way to always create a bad file??? if no records reject from the load, i want sql*loader to create an empty bad file; this way our user's link will point to an empty file and they'll know there were no rejects

Try creating a dummy, empty .bad file (touch dummy_file.bad). At the beginning of your script copy the dummy over the top of the old one.
If SQL Loader doesn't need to create a new one, the dummy will remain. If it needs to create one, it will over write the dummy.
This is a roundabout way of doing this. There might be something easier.

Why you want to not use the proven method is beyond me. Presumably because you don't understand classloading. In which case, forget it.
