Teststand database RI problem against Sybase ASA 8.0 database
When running our Teststand application against the SyBase Adaptive Server Anywhere 8.0.1 database,
test results are saved to the parent table UUT_RESULT, but then I get the following Run-Time Error dialog:

Which schema are you using, recordset(SELECT) or command(INSERT), and are you using and ODBC driver or a specific OLE-DB provider?
If you are using a select statement then when the UUT record is created, the database logger tries to find out what the value was so that it can write that value for the foreign key for the steps. Make sure that the statements in the schema are using a server side cursor for your tables so that if the database ODBC driver or provider that you are using can retrieve the key value from the database right after it creates the UUT record. If you are using server side cursors and this problem still occurs, it may be that the database ODBC driver or provider does not support getting the key value after the record is cre
ated.
Your only option might be to use command(INSERT) schema that generates key values in someway. The built in support is using an generated GUID value.
Also with some work, if supported, you could use stored procedures to generate the key.

Hi every body ..plz help me on this..
We are facing database termination problem in ECC6 production syste.
Database: Oracle 10.2, O/S: Windows 2003. Spam :27, SP level 13.
Error is:
Errors in file f:\oracle\p02\saptrace\background\p02_ckpt_6520.trc:
ORA-00206: error in writing (block 3, # blocks 1) of control file
ORA-00202: control file: 'D:\ORACLE\P02\ORIGLOGB\CNTRL\CNTRLP02.DBF'
ORA-27072: File I/O error
OSD-04008: WriteFile() failure, unable to write to file
O/S-Error: (OS 33) The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file.
When we are performing backup then data base termination occuring freequently.
Give right solution as early as possible.
Thanks,
Nani.Hi,
Have a look at below snote which actually speaks about the oracle error codes
Snote : 546006
within the Snote it says :-
" If you cannot access a database file (for instance a data file, control file or RedoLog) for whatever reason, an ORA-270xx appears. The actual cause comes from additional error messages (usually in the operating system) that occur on ORA-270xx. "
And as per your last update
" ORA-00206: error in writing (block 3, # blocks 1) of control file
ORA-00202: control file: 'D:\ORACLE\P02\ORIGLOGB\CNTRL\CNTRLP02.DBF' "
i think there is problem accessing the database control file. Hence you are facing the above problem.
I think if you recreate your control file i think, it should resolve the problem.
Hope it will be helpful to resolve your problem.

we have problems with our reports in Collection Manager again. We reboot the CM, but the problems continue.
This is the log of the CM. What can be the problem? Thanks tomo

Prob. CF7 using jConnect to Sybase ASA 9 on Win2K3 Srv.
hi there
I have this setup: Standard CF7.0.2 running on Win2K3.
Database ist Sybase ASA 9.
In other messages, I wrote about CFs ODBC server not working.
So I was told to use jConnect which I tried.
Neiher the CF Admin can use that jConnect mounting nor would
the cf application work.
The following happens now:
- creating a new database with ASA.
- I fire up a new db-engine and mount the database
- I add a new non-dba user
- in CF's data sources Admin I use other driver to declare
the jConnect parameters to that DB.
- I let CF validate the parameters. It succeeds woth both,
the dba and the non-dba user
- I stop the database engine and mount the same database to
the database server running as a service on that machine
- I let CF revalidate the connections and CF fails with
" java.sql.SQLException: JZ00L: Login failed."
Sybase Admin Tool is a native Java application and it has
never problems connecting to the db regardless how it is mounted.
So, it seems that the failure has something to do with access
rights. When doing the interactive tests, I am logged in as a
Win2K3 Administrator. When the database is mounted to the server
running as a service, it won't work.
Adobe, any clues what ACLs must be applied or are required?
Any pointers to that?
It's quite urgent, because we cannot migrate from an CFMX 6.1
to the CF7 because of this.
Thank youHi Ken
Thank you for your post: I tried it immediately.

Hi,
I have a problem capturing the schema information for a sybase ASA 8 database. I created a new database and included the JConnect Metadata in the table. When I connect from Sun One Studio and capture the schema it does not have the primary keys or indexes. It appears to not retrieve the metadata. In the database explorer the column is red which means it is getting the primary key info there on the connection but not when I capture the schema. I have tried to upgrade the database by hand with the scripts but there is no change.. I am using the JConnect 5_5 that came with the install of ASA 8. What do I need to do to get this to work, Without this PK information we cannot use CMP.Have you installed the meta data stored procedures and tables? The file is 'sql_asa.sql' in the JConnect5.5 zip under the "sp" directory.
Check the documentation for details.

Design Capture of a Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere Database
I was trying to capture Server Model Diagram from an existing Sybase ASA database via ODBC.
During capture, a lot of errors regarding data type conversion appears.
Does any one know what has gone wrong?Hi Tom,
Could you check in the AppServer via AdminConsole if the JDBC Resource and Connection is configured?
For Admin Console, In the Servers Window, Right click on the Application Server node and choose View Admin Console. You could see the JDBC-Resources and Connection Pools configured under Resources> JDBC. It offers to check the db connectivity by using Ping on connection pools.
If datasources are not configured for you, then you may want to manually create the connection pool and a JDBC-Resource for it.

RMAN duplicate target database from active database - performance problem
Hello. I’m running into a major performance problem when trying to duplicate a database from a target located inside our firewall to an auxiliary located outside our firewall. Both target and auxiliary are located in the same equipment room just on different subnets. Previously I had the auxiliary located on the same subnet as the target behind the firewall and duplicating a 4.5T database took 12 hours. Now with the auxiliary moved outside the firewall attempting to duplicate the same 4.5T database is estimated to exceed 35 hours. The target is a RAC instance using ASM and so is the auxiliary. Ping, tnsping, traceroutes to and from target and auxiliary all indicate no problem or latency. Any ideas on things to consider while hunting for this elusive performance decrease?
Thanks in advance. It would obviously appear network related. Have you captured any network/firewall metrics? Are all components set to full duplex? Would it be possible to take the firewall down temporarily and then test the throughput? Do you encounter any latency if you were to copy a large file across the subnets?
You may want to check V$RMAN_BACKUP_JOB_DETAILS, V$BACKUP_SYNC_IO or V$BACKUP_ASYNC_IO when the backup is running. -
Hi all,
Can I use Other database as the repository, Sybase/SQL Server? Urgent!!!
And Can I use other database store business data and sync with lite?
Thanks ahead!!!Jonathan,
No, it is not possible to use any other database than Oracle (8.1.7) or later .
Oracle Lite will only work with Oracle.

Problem finding data in an Oracle Database using CMP beans
I am having a problem retrieving data from an Oracle database that has a date as
part of the key. This data was loaded into my database via a batch process writing
in java using java.sql.Date to store the date information. When calling the findByPrimaryKey
method of a CMP Entity Bean I continued to get the FinderException. I know this
data is in my database because I can view the data via SQLPlus and Microsoft Access.
Has anyone ever experience problems with CMP beans accessing data from an Oracle
database that had a date as part if the key or with accessing data in the database
that insert via another method outside of your CMP bean. I desperately need some
answers.Hi Dave,
You should probably post this type of question in the CMP or JDBC section
for best results. Chances are that the date is suffering from a rounding
problem (it could be a date/time in the database with a different time zone)
or is not the date that you think it is (wrong century or millenium). I've
seen both. You need to write a quick piece of code that loads in those
values as both Java timestamps and dates and makes sure that they are what
you think they are.

Database Link Problem-Peculiar SQL stmt execution.. Please help
Hi all,
This is a strange problem i'm facing while running the following query.
This query is run on the local machine which is fetching data from another remote database. All the functions included also are fetching data from the remote database through db links.
I know lot of db links are into picture, but the requirement is like this only.
SQL :SELECT billing_extract_subscriber.get_external_id_types_descr
(ciem.external_id_type,
'ra_delhi'
) AS "EXTERNAL_ID_TYPE",

Sometimes Invalid Identifier, sometimes invalid table etc. is coming.
*2. Now when i'm running the above query after breaking into two parts is :*

*3. I can trace out there is some problem related to the concurrent db links getting opened.*
i've done resizing the following parameters as well but isn't working :

SQL>
SQL> sho parameter distributed

I've tried breaking up the query but in any case i'm opening same no. of dblinks. So it din't help me.
Kindly Suggset what to do? Is there any more parameter which govern maximum db links opened at a time? or is this problem due to someother reasons?
Database Details :
Version : 10.2.0.3.0
Platform : HP UXHi all,
NO RESPONSE AT ALL???
Well not a PROBLEM....
I got my solution so thought of writing it here for everybody's reference.
SQL> alter session set events '10176 trace name context forever';
Session altered.
SQL> alter system flush shared_pool;
System altered.
And then I have execute original query given by Prabhat, it's running fine.
Applies to:
Oracle Server - Enterprise Edition - Version: 10.2.0.1 to 11.1.0.7
This problem can occur on any platform.
Symptoms
-- Problem Statement:
Following query over dblink having Local database 9iR2 and remote 10gR2 works..
select *
from ctps3.institutions@ctps3 i,
ctps3.state_types@ctps3 s,ods.institutions oi
where s.stt_state_type_id (+) = i.stt_state_type_id
and oi.ctps_insttn_id = i.inst_insttn_id
and i.inst_modifd_dt = trunc(sysdate)
and (nvl (oi.inst_state_txt, 'x') <> nvl (s.stt_state_type_nm, 'x'))
and (nvl (oi.inst_phone_txt, 17) <> nvl (i.inst_phone_txt, 17));
The same query fails when both local and remote databases are 10g R2, with following errors:
ERROR at line 2:
ORA-00904: "OI"."INST_STATE_TXT": invalid identifier
ORA-02063: preceding line from CTPS3
Cause
Outer join query over dblink can fail with ORA-904, as referenced in:
Bug 6620988 QUERY OVER DBLINK FAILS WITH ORA-904 SELECTING DATE
Predicates are not checked to verify if they belong to same network node when we attempt to colocate the remote tables. This results in wrongly generating remote query and ORA-904
REDISCOVERY INFORMATION:
1. ORA-904
2. DB link
3. OJ predicates across network nodes
4. predicates wrongly pushed network nodes
Solution
-- To implement the solution, please execute the following steps::
Use the workaround of disabling colocated joins via event 10176 and force a hard parse to happen
(ie by flushing the shared pool), ie:
SQL> alter session set events '10176 trace name context forever';
SQL> alter system flush shared_pool;
or
For a permanent fix, request a One-Off Backport of 6620988 for the appropiate platform.

Hello,
I have cloned the databse to a new server using a cold backup.
I used alter database backup controlfile to trace as '/home/oracle/control.sql' on the source database and recreated the controlfiles on the target database.
Everything works fine. The database opened and the data are ok. The problem is that in the database was an apex application and when i want to connect to the application from the http server it doesn't work. I get 404 error.
What could be wrong? Am i missing something in the new controlfiles?
Could be the problem that in the trace from which i created the new controlfiles there was this line: "CHARACTER SET EE8ISO8859P2"... maybe the application is using somthing else?
Please advise.I have pointed dads to the new server with correct SID and it doesn't work.
It does however work when i clone the database with using cold backup with controlfiles.
But when i recreate controlfiles from trace, the apex application stops working. -
Immediate HELP in Tomcat 5 to Postgresql 7.4 database connectivity problem
Hi,
I failed to connect Tomcat 5.0.24 with Postgresql
7.4.2. The files created by me and the changes i had
made in the existing files are rates.jsp,
conversionDAO.java, web.xml and server.xml. The error
message on the top of the rest of it was "The value of
useBean class attribute converter.conversionDAO is
invalid". So far I found out that the coding for
database connectivity purpose in conversionDAO.java
cause the error. Another thing is Postgresql jdbc
driver is required to set in the CLASSPATH for the
java file to access the Postgresql database. I don't
know where should I put it in Tomcat for web
application. Anyway, I put it in
$CATALINA_HOME/shared/lib according the book i
refered. I do the database connectivity coding refer
to the Tomcat Kick Start book from Sams Publishing.
Below are the coding involved, please show me the
mistake i had made. Thank you.

Database creation problems and parition consolidation
This is my first time on here so please look past my green-ness. =)
I Installed Oracle 8.1.7 successfully and opted to setup the database creation later so I could put the database on another partition. Well, I tried once to create the database on the partition I installed oracle onto (/oracle) but I had insufficient space, It said I needed 1.3 gigs. My "/database" partition is only a 1 gig parition (and /oracle is 2 gigs). My plan was of course, to seperate them.
Ok, I didn't see an option to create the db on another partition so I resigned to using /oracle. My question now is, is the 960 megs on /oracle enough to create the database? I used the custom setup so I could see how everything was broken down and I noticed that my rollback segment is 500 megs. Is this necessary? Can I get by with 100 megs and be fine? Also, if I did do this, I'd have approximately 100 megs free for data, this is enough I hope??
Lastly, I need to combine the partitions somehow without effecting /. The hard drive is broken down into:
gigs
5.5 /
2.0 /oracle
1.0 /database
Does anyone have any ideas? In windows, I used partiton magic but I don't know if there is a linux version.
One more thought (last one for real =), it had 50 megs allocated for it's shared memory pool. I'm assuming this will take away from the 128megs I have thus effectively making only 78 available to X, will this cause any noticeable problems other than a bit of slowdown? I have most if not all of my virtual memory free at all times. I know I should get more ram, but you know how the budget thing goes...
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
RobTry running the catalog and catproc sql scripts.
$ cd $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib
$ svrmgrl
connect internal
@catalog
@catproc
That will set up all of the internal views and packages that
oracle needs to do DDL.

: user, create a simple table but when I try to run SQL DDL
: statements I get errors saying: "recursive SQL error". I
: looked at the sql.log file after the install. It doesn't look
: like all the packages were created successfully. Have others
had
: similiar problems with the system table/package creation? To
me
: it looks like a DDL that was needed was not called during the
: install and later caused problems during package creation.
: This is my fourth time installing and I have the same problem
: each time. I also tried to run the plsql.sql file to recreate
: some of the packages but this did not work either.
: I've just about given up and I'm starting to realize why its
: free.

I have a problem with displaying records from my database where I wish to navigate through the records.
I use a framset where I gather the search data in a form on the left side of the page and display the database results in a frame on the right hand side of the page.
The website I have displays 1 record at a time in a table format. There's no problem getting records from the database - if I try to display 1 record on the page its Ok, if I disply X records on the page its fine - the problem comes where I display 1 record and then use hyperlinks to move to the next record in data set.
The code is set so the navigation links only appear where there is more than 1 matching record so I know I'm not trying to call records that do not exist.
The error only appears when I try to navigate through the records to display te 2nd record returned by any search, it appears to be something to do with the RecordCount.
Any help appreciated.
For Reference the next/prev record is adapated from here - http://tutorial20.easycfm.com/#
The error is:

[/quote]Thanks, you've nailed it.
I hadn't set a default parameter for form.battalion (although I presumed it would retain the parameter passed from the form to the query when I initially create the datbase query) and it now seems to work for now. It must clear the form variables every tim the page refreshes as it changes record.
I'm not sure how it'll work when I add the 4 extra tables - 'Fifth', 'Seventh', 'Eigth' and 'Ninth' if it clears the value passed from the form each time the page refreshes I suspect it's going to default to the value set on the CFPARAM tag each time but I'll deal with that at the time.
