am new to java. jus help me on dis.
i ve placed a text field and a button in applet
and when i click d button i need the data in text
field ( dat is typed by the user)
to be displayed in the applet.If the user keyed the text in, it should already be displayed in the Applet. ;oP All kidding aside, as mentioned you will find a method called getText(), which can be called on the TextField or JTextField, as the case may be, that returns a String. What you do with that String is what you need to be more specific about.

Cast string in a text field as date in UK format on reports

Hi All,
I have UK locale setup for all my users, so all date / time fields display in dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss format. However this one field is a text field and has a timestamp value in it in US format like 05/26/2011 16:31:00 and I am trying to display it like 26/05/2011 16:31:00 in reports.
I tried to Cast it as DATE or TIME or TIMESTAMP it errors out saying invalid month. Understandable.
The best I have managed to do is to simply use the SUBSTRING, LEFT and RIGHT functions as below and rearrange the characters to display it the way I want, but I don't want to hard code it that way. There are a few US locale users as well and it will impact them if I hard code it.
SUBSTRING ("- Service Request Custom Attributes".TEXT_35 FROM 4 FOR 3) || LEFT("- Service Request Custom Attributes".TEXT_35, 3) || RIGHT("- Service Request Custom Attributes".TEXT_35, 13)
Is there a way to achieve this? Please suggest. The reason I am doing it is in the same report there are other date / time fields displaying in UK format except this one so it's confusing to users.

The reason you're receiving the "Invalid Month" error is that the date format expected by the cast function is dd-mmm-yyyy (as in: 11-Jun-2011). You can use substring and case statements to pull out what you need from the data field, and then cast it to an actual date.

DSO - What key fields and data fields in dso

Hi experts,
I need to create a dso in between the cube and 2 data sources(2lis_11_vaitm, 2lis_12_vcscl) to stage the data. My question is: what key fields and data fields to choose for the dso? is there a standard dso to copy? please explain in detail the model to set up, whether to connect both the ds's to dso and then to cube or one ds to dso and the other to the cube. more details will help.

Key fields and data fields in a DSO ??

i have a question regarding key fields and data fields in a Standard DSO...
i am using 2 datasources to build a open sales report 2LIS_11_VASTH and 2LIS_11_VASTI i am pulling in data from these 2 data sources to a DSO and i am wondering what infoobjects should be in the key fields and data fields .....does this reflect back to table VBUK and VBUP tables and does the key field in the DSO have to be the key fields in VBUK and VBUP tables ???? or what really should be included as key fields and data fields ????
please help....

If you look at the various SD tables, VBELN and POSNR are commonly used as the document number and document line item.
For VBAP and VBUP, it's referring to the Sales Order Line Item with the columns VBELN and POSNR as the key for both tables. However, if you look at the LIPS table, which is the Delivery Line Item table, it too has VBELN and POSNR as the key. Likewise, the VTTP table, which is the Shipment Line Item table, also has VBELN and POSNR as the key.
While using RSOSFIELDMAP as a map is a fairly good "rule of thumb", it still needs to be used with a level of skepticism.

Chart report Condition fields and Data fields

Hi all,
i have tried chart report by adding two condion fields and one data field, the report is more meaning full in this scenario. the first condition field is taken as x-axis, the 2nd condition fields is taken as legend.
while adding more condition fields and data fields, i feel its not showing meaningfull data.
can anyone explain how the condition fields and data fileds are manipulated by crystal report.
i am using CR XI R2 Server.

i am using Crystal Report XI R2 RAS Embedded in my server.
as we can add any number condition fields programatically using the method
ConditionField.Add(FieldObj), i would like to know how these fields are manipulated internally by the RAS server.
that means, what is the significance of condition fieldobject 1, condition fieldobject 2,condition fieldobject 3 etc...
if i add more than two condition fields , RAS Chart Report always returns 0 as legend value for all legends.

Fields you meen in a table? or in programs? in both places you create in reference to SAP Dictionary.
data element char20. TEXT20
Programs data: l_text type char20.
Tables ... field ZTEXT type CHAR20...TEXT20

i want build 1 DSO, how can i identify what are key fields and data fields to build DSO based on that datasource.

The DSO are like 2-D database tables.
We use the technical keys here in counterpart to the business keys in Infocubes.
The key fields are the one based on which the records are identified uniquely in the database table.
And the data fields are the ones which are aggrgated or summarised or overwritten based on the value in key filed.
For example:
The ID no.s of the employees will be unique and it can be used as a key field.
The feilds like the Salary taken by the employee every month :"SALARY"
and the no. of leaves they taken: " NO. OF LEAVES" can be used as data fields.
So that the salary or the leaves taken by a particular employee can be aggregated based on her/his ID no.
The key fields in DSO doesnty mean Key figures.The key field means any unique key or a key based on which the records are sorted in the DSO
And key figures are the data fields.Some of the Characteristics can also be data fields in DSO.
Please give points if u r satisfied wit the information

Defining Key -field and data fields

Hi all
i have to define Key-Fields and data-Fields for a DSO(say DSO3).
DSO1 is a combination of DSO2 and DSO3..
DSO1 and DSO2 are SAP defined DSOs.
DSO3 is a User defined DSO.
my assumption:
   DSO3 has 30 fields
   DSO2 has 16 fields.
   can i create the DSO3 with remaining 14 fields which is there in DSO1?
   or i have to create the DSO3 with 30 fields(all DSO1 fields).
can any body explain....

The problem is not how many fields you create where, the issue is where is the data is going to come from.
Since you data is going from DSO3 to DSO1and if the field is already getting populated in DSO1 from DSO2, then you don't have to worry about populating those fields again, unless and otherwise you want to overwrite them.
Remember any fields exist in both DSO3 and DSO2 which overlapping will be overwritten by the latest update.
Again, going back to your question, you should consider does your datasource has missing fields (14 of them).

How can I get text from a text field and display it in an alert?

Hello! I am BRAND NEW to Objective-C and Xcode and iOS, so PLEASE be forgiving of what is going to be a stupid question. I have a text field. I want to enter some text, click "return", and see my text in an alert. It doesn't serve any useful purpose, but this is how I learn. So far, I am unsuccessful. Here's my function from my HelloEarthViewController.m file:

What have I missed? Where have I gone wrong?

Okay, here's where I am. I have this in my view controller .h file:

Is an "action button" a real button? From my limited understanding, the alert should launch when I click "return" since showInputMessage is attached to Editing Did End on the text field.

Copy text fields and drop down menu fields

Hi,
Using LiveCycle Designer ES, I am making a simple form with some text fields and along with some drop-down menu fields. With the resulting pdf, I need for one to be able to select the appropriate selection in the drop-down menus. Then using cntl-a to select everything and then cntl-v to copy it into a text document. This approach will only copy the text fields and not what is showing in the drop-down menu field. Is there any way to solve this problem? The end users computer has limited tools and software cannot be installed on it.

I don't really know if the text field can be selected using Ctl+a, but if that is possible how about adding extra text field that is linked to pulldown menu?
If the usage of the PDF is only for copying, then I would make a formcalc or javascript to combine all the text into one text field so that user only need to copy paste one field.

Saved text fields and check-boxes empty when 3D window activates

I've created Text Fields and Check-boxes in a pdf template, using LiveCycle Designer.
I create the 3D work in Reviewer, and use the pdf template during Export to 3D pdf.
Using 'Extend Features in Adobe Reader' the user can fill in the text fields, and click the check-boxes then save them with the pdf - just using Reader.
So far this is great!
The problem comes when the pdf is opened again and the 3D window (A3DR_3DFrame) activated.
All the completed fields empty!
This is not great at all!
I've did some tests and found that the filelds only clear if I include the Configs selection list box with the special name 'A3DR_Configs' in the template pdf. (A3DR_Configs lists the Configs stored in the 3D Reviewer file and the user can select the config from that list).
This is unfortunate, as the A3DR_Configs window is useful since it indicates to the user which 3D config is currently being viewed (ie the name of the current config stays highlighted).
Is this a bug that can be fixed or is there a workaround?

Text Field and Checkboxes

Ok... i wish i can show my form without letting everyone have axx to it.

I have a form created completely. It has radio fields, text fields and checkboxes. I have two problems
One when ppl are typing in the text field area, it seems to lend in with the question, so if not paying attn, u wont know that they answered a question.
Currently i have the stuff set at Myriad Pro size 10.. Thats what i used to type comments and what not.
But when the end user flls out the form, i want it to at least be in bold or something.. Or maybe Times new roman Or something different from the question font itself.
Two.. in checkboxes, the default is X. Thats very light. I need that to be noticeable... So either make em a bod X or a way to increase the size of the tick without increasing the size of the box itself.. I just tried to use the STAR..And its bold enuf, but its small. It would be better if the star was a lil bigger.
Currently i think i have 150 checkboxes and about 50 text area and fields.
I thought about making the text thing rich format, but they cant do that for every field... id rather tdo that by default in the back end of the form itself.
I hope im not sounding confusinf

i know the square and circle are a bit ugly - but there is no chance you'll miss them
alternatively try adjusting the size a bit under -size you can take a standard checkboxes size from 10 to 12 without increasing its area for example - select the checkbox-objects-field-size - change to 12 eg - adds a bit of weight
i use squares when i need visual weigh -
for the text - might be worth having a test at setting input field values with a baseline shift -- thats basically make text bigger or smaller than, you guessed it, baseline -- this from the livecycle scripting reference

Double Clicking a Text Field and there is data in it

When I double click in a text field there is data (my name) there that the form remembers from a previous use. I am ready to publish and distribute my form but I don't want the old data to be there. How do I delete it?

You may have the auto-complete option on in Acrobat. In Acrobat, click "preferences..." under the Edit menu. Choose "forms" from the category list and check out the auto-complete settings.

How to populate text fields with data present in a table

Hi,
The page i'm building has got a select list for the primary key column and text fields corresponding to rest of the columns in the table.
upon selecting some value from the list, the data corresponding to that row should get populated in the respective items. I don't want to add source in each item. can't i create a process or something else where this is done for each item.
for eg there's a table with columns A(primary key) and B.
there is a text fields on this page.
this textfield should populate the data from the table whenever i submit the page such that teh value in B is select B from tablename where A = the selected value.

So I assume page was not built using a wizard. Why on earth you would want to I dont know, but you could create an "After Header" pl/sql process to populate the relevant fields, assuming the id was know on entry to the page. If you want to select the id on the page and then populate the fields, guess you will need to use a "Text Field (always submits page when Enter pressed)" and then use an "On Submit" process to populate the items.
If you are using an Automated Row Fetch, remember to select "Set memory Cache on Fetch" in that process.
