Text is really pixelated?

Hi
I have a CS5 PhotoShop document, and it is 150px by 150px. The problem is that any text i put on it is slightly pixelated. I have tried anti-aliasing but its not working.I am planning to put the image on a website but the text on the image is clearly more pixelated than text on the page even when it is saved in the highest quality jpeg.
Anyone know what may cause this?
Thanks

150 pixels isn't very big.  How are you looking at it?  At 100% zoom?  Or greater?
Have you tried the anti-aliasing options in the options bar when entering the text?
Are you displaying it at 100% original size on the web?
It might be easier to judge what's wrong if you'd put a copy of the image up for all to see here.  You can do that with the little "camera" icon on the web forum interface, just above the edit box where you type.

  • PDF export causes text to be pixelated

    Greetings.
I am trying to export a vector graphic to PDF. The document contains only vector shapes and some text (not rasterized), set to anti-aliased Crisp.
But no matter what options I choose, the text comes out pixelated.
I increased the dpi from 96 to 300. That didn't work.
I went to File - Print. There are two options to export a PDF:
I can click Print again on the subsequent dialog, then opt to export to PDF. That didn't work.
Or I can click the "Print Settings" button, from which I can then export to PDF. That didn't work.
I tried opening the Photoshop file in Gimp then saving that as a PDF. That didn't work.
I tried every possible option in File - Save As. I selected Photoshop PDF, but after 30 minutes of trial and error, I was unable to locate a combination that gave me the PDF I desired. In all cases, even uncompressed, the text is pixelated.
When I searched the Adobe support site, I couldn't find any results that matched what I needed.
What's going on?? How do I just get a normal PDF out of all of these options??
    Mac OS X 10.7.3
    Photoshop CS 6 beta
    Also, some general questions:
[1] I am confused by the layout of the forums: http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop
Usually when I think "forum" I see a bunch of threads, categories, and names of posters. Instead this reads more like an FAQ and I feel like I'm asking a brick wall. I'm following the links exactly to "Photoshop forums," but then when it tells me to ask my question, I do so, but then I just get 2 irrelevant results and I can't ask anyone. Where am I supposed to go to get help? I'm so lost browsing this site. Did you want me to start a "discussion" rather than a "thread"? Because I would think that a "discussion" implies that I know what I'm talking about and am conducting/moderating my own meeting (which I'm not, no sarcastic remarks I'm stressed out and just need a simple answer but I have no idea how I'm supposed to ask my question when it says "Ask a question..." I reach a dead end and the site doesn't give me a Step 2 suggestion).
[2] Also: The site seems to load slowly. It takes several extra seconds for pages to load, and by then, I usually refresh the page, which confuses me because then I end up like 2 pages back.
[3] And: Adobe tells me that "andrejfavia" is taken. Who took my username? Was it me from like 5 years ago, or does someone else have the same name? It's been so long.

    andrejfavia2 wrote:
And since no one has replied back to me, I'm guessing that the average user doesn't even know how to do something basic like export a vector PDF from graphics with text,
it seems so.. as you don´t know how to do it.
sorry i can´t help im a photo guy and i think i have never touched PDF in photoshop.

What are you people doing?? This is such a tortorous user interface!!
yep especially that copy and paste is not working via mouse annoys me. i only get the "insert, image link" stuff on my right mouse button.... and i don´t need that as often as copy & paste.
the quote function is not very good either, compared with other forum software.

  • PDF export causes text to be pixelated (continued)

Alright, what is going on with Adobe's accounts?
Apparently Adobe doesn't recognize my username and password for this second account, and when I ask to send a password to my email, I never get the email, so I had to create a third account just to post a thread and update it.
And what the hell is going on with my original thread?
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/988287
I can't find a Reply button anywhere to update my question. I just saw it there a few days ago. What happened to that? I can't find for the life of me another way to update my thread! Why is the thread marked (READ ONLY) when my question hasn't been answered yet?
You people have to be kidding me! This is seriously the most confusing, bewildering process I have ever had to go through just to ask a question and update it.
So that's why I'm creating this new thread. Here is a link to the old one:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/988287
    Anyways!
Here is the update that I was trying to post for the past week, in that thread, but couldn't:
    UPDATE:
I still have not received an answer to my question:
How do I export a vector drawing with text in Photoshop to a PDF, such that the text isn't pixelated when I view the PDF?

Unfortunately I have to use PDF, because I need the file to be infinitely resolved when I zoom in as much as I want (no pixelation).
But then again, why do it in Photoshop in the first place? You are using the most unsuitable tool I can think of to produce guaranteed vector-based output. The standard answer we use in the Illustrator forum a lot is: If it gets rasterized, then there is some appearance that makes the programm think it can only retain the look by converting to pixels. Contrary to what you think, just drawing it out as vectors doesn't guarantee vector output. There is any number of things that could be going on, so unless you tell us more about your setup and what PDF export options you actually use, this is an pretty unproductive discussion, but some of the common caveats are:
    - you may not be allowed to embed the fonts
    - you may have formatted the text with custom options
    - your vector shapes may overlap in a way, that there is no way to calculate holes and self-intersections on paths within the PDF spec
    - any number of issues with things involving transparencies and blending modes, including layer styles, partial opacities, adjustment layers
    - nesting of layers/ paths in general
Again, without seeing what exactly you are doing, it's impossible to advise, but as a start check those things.

  • Why i have to delete the Current word Text if i type wrong Previous word text in the sentence, my fingers are broad cannot accurately point the specific character, I am forced to delete current word text, its really making my mind to get rid of  iPhone4.

Hold your finger on the word for a little time - after a second or so, a magnifying view appears showing the few letters around your finger, with a cursor. Roll your finger to move the cursor to just in front of the letter you want to fix. Then let your finger go. You can now backspace to delete and replace the incorrect letter.

  • Why is adobe encore cs6 dvd's really pixelated?

Ok, so I've used final cut and corel and Encore. Out of the 3, Encore is the worst. and yet it cost the most, and is the most confusing to use as well. When I burn the dvd, it looks pixelated with lots of blurry unnecasary lines. In fact, corel and Final cut are much better when it comes to quality. Also, I've tried both adobe dynamic link and mped2dvd with all the highest quality etc. and they both have the EXACT same result. It looks really pixelated.
    Help please........

well, when i tried mpeg2-dvd, i tried 6mpbs high quality 1280x720. My original footage is shot with a gh3, so quality is really high out of camera. And it also looks really good on premiere pro.
-For the adobe dynamic link, i just burned it in a dvd and the qwuality was exactly the same as mpeg-dvd

  • Everything i export from FCP is really pixellated

Basically, on a timeline in FCP I have an animtion, which is made up from After Effects video and Photoshop images which are all at 1920x1440.
When I try to export this the image is really pixellated. I have tried exporting with lots of different compressors - Animation, dv - pal, H.264 etc and all the same.
I had a look at my sequence settings for the project and
    the frame rate is 720 x 576.
    the aspect ratio is CCIR 601 (720 x 576)
the pixel aspect ratio is the same
the field dmoinance is LOWER (EVEN)
    editing timebase - 25
    compressor is DV - PAL
and the quality is 100 percent.
This didnt seem right as all the footage and image are 1920 x 1440 so i changed the frame size to 1920 x 1440
and now the image is really small with a big black border. Why is this?
I copied and pasted the stuff on the timeline into a new project and its gone back to the settinsg above.
but its still really pixellated when i export.
Why is all this stuff happeneing?
why is it pixellated when i export?
and why is it saying that the frame size should be 720 x 576?
Any help would be amazing thanks!
    aNDY.

    Hi thanks for your response.
I managed to solve it with some help from my friend. Basically i changed the sequence setting to what the images were (1920 x 1440) then selected all the clips and did 'conform to sequence' and 'scale to sequence' and it seemed to do the trick!
Think its sort of what you were saying (about scaling imported images). Cheers!

  • Text looks too pixelated when played back

Here is the situation. We have a project to produce a banner for our school that will be played at an arena. This is to played on one of those huge banner screens that go around the entire place. The dimensions are 6046 x 32 (I know that sounds crazy, I'm still waiting form them to call back to confirm if those are the right dimensions). When I put the text on there it looks way to pixelated in play back. Any thoughts of what I could do to make it look presentable?

    chapp_stl wrote:
I spoke with the powers that be and they said the original dimensions are correct.
This is not supported by your following statements but it my pleasure to misunderstand stuff.
    chapp_stl wrote:
I'm just hoping we can send this off to the place that will play it to see how it looks before it's too late.
Yes, that would be great. I may have missed it before, you're sending them what? The only thing you'll get from Livetype is a Quicktime movie or a still image. If they want a still, do it in Photoshop. I'm still having a really hard time believing the stadium expects you to deliver this thing intact, self contained. It is more likely they want your design and specifications and then they'll create it using the display's proprietary software. Whatever runs the thing, it's probably on a PC. Make sure you know what you're expected to provide.
    chapp_stl wrote:
Another question for those of you that have done this before, is it better to section the spacing out in thirds or fourths, etc.? We have a seven word sentence with our web address on it. I'm just hoping it doesn't cut off the words in the wrong spot.
There's nothing to break up. You make a sentence and animate it across the width of the format in one movie. Don't ya?

  • FCP text is ultra-pixelated even after rendering. How do i fix it?

I've been working with FCP for a while now and this is an issue I've had a few time before. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesnt. thing is, i dont do anything differently from time to time. But its been happening every time lately. Even after I render, the text in FCP is very pixelated. It looks nice when im in the program, in my canvas, but then i view it full screen or export and the text looks terrible. Also, I've been using livetype files that are fully rendered and look great in livetype and after i render them from livetype, but the same thing happens. Am i missing something? Please help. I edit a show called Seesmix and it has happened pretty much every time with this show. I export it as .mp4. So if you want to see what im talking about, you can check out the show on youtube... http://youtube.com/profile?user=seesmix.
thanks for reading and please help!

i've seen your video and your text seems fine to me. are you planning to ever have this broadcast on television? if so then there may be an issue. but if everything is webcast then it looks fine. i'd tell you to view everything on an NTSC monitor before air but i'm not sure if you are going to need it.
you mentioned that when you 'watch it full screen' that the text looks bad. do you mean full screen on youtube or fullscreen on your comp monitor? how big of a monitor is it? everything will look like garbage if you expand it beyond the size that it was intended for. it's like, HD stops being HD if you look at it on a huge monitor. pixels get larger and you lose definition.

  • Text looks slightly pixelated...

I am working on a project that has quite a few Motion and Live Type movies in it, which were done in 800x600 format. I am adding Text to a part using the Text generator. In the Viewer window, the text looks perfect, but in the Canvas window, the text looks a bit pixelated, and when I export to a Quick Time movie it looks just the same... anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I am sure there's some little adjustment that needs to be made, but I'm not sure what...
    Thanks for any assistance.
    Joel

okay, so I redid everthing in 720x480 and now the text looks blurry in the canvas and the viewer, and in the exported quicktime movie. When I import the livetype and motion movies, final cut says I am importing clips that do not match my sequence settings or presets, and should I change the settings to match the clips that I'm importing... if I say yes, the images and type look pixelated while it's moving, but I noticed if I hit the pause button in the viewer or canvas, it looks clear, when I hit play it looks pixelated again... Also, I noticed when I do the change and bring in the .mov file I made with motion, that the render settings options (RT tab) seem to disappear (unlimited, safe, etc) and only Play Base Layer Only, Record to tape (grayed out) , use playback settings, and full quality (checked) are the only ones left in that drop down...

I ordered a photobook, when I went to purchase it flashed up a warning about default text saying 'printed books will not include this text'.
Was really dissapointed when my photo book arrived with the default text printed. Will I have to return it? Or can I get some sort of discount? I don't live near a post office so I'd rather not have to return it.

Contact Apple support - they can answer that type of questions - we are just users here like yourself
BTW - it is best not to order when you have errors - to resolve that error place a single space in the subject text box
    and always
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.

  • Is a text editor really better than Dreamweaver?

    Hi Everyone,
I've been looking through several different web design forums
and I'm now stuck with a question. Why do some people swear by
using only a text editor to put their website together and totally
discount programs such as Dreamweaver? I find this quite strange
because a website amongst other things is a highly visual
experience usually not showing a single line of code to the end
user. I get the impression that some people feel that Dreamweaver
is beneath them as they are "highly skilled coders" and only
amateurs use WYSIWYGs! Is it just me or am I correct in thinking
there is an element of snobbery here? To me it seems that
Dreamweaver has advantages in abundance and for the so called
hardcore coders there's even a code view which is much more
powerful than a simple text editor. One final thing, I see that
people complain about so called bad code that Dreamweaver writes.
Is it true that Dreamweaver writes bad code and if so what's bad
    about it?
Many thanks, I'll be fascinated to read your

  • After updating to v. 6.X.X, vertical lines appear around the cursor when typing in webpages such as Gmail and Facebook that persist, obscuring text and other pixels in the webpage. Didn't happen before this update.

I noticed after updating to Firefox version 6.0.1 that vertical lines the same size and shape as the text cursor remain behind on the screen as the cursor moves (either while typing or by using arrow keys). This is most obvious and annoying in text-heavy applications such as when typing in Gmail, Facebook, and work webmail, for instance. (Interestingly, it's not happening now as I type this.)
This is very annoying because these lines obscure parts or even entire letters in words that have been typed. I thought that it might have been a Firefox customized 'skin' I added at the same time as updating, but I reverted to the default view and the problem remains.
