"Text Marker" effect in Keynote?

Hello!
Is there any way to obtain a "text marker" effect in Keynote (i.e. like this used after a search in the Apple Forums to indicate the words searched for, the yellow background behind a word)? Changing the document background in the Fonst-menu changes the entire paragraph..
Thanks for your input
S

I find the answer myself... the "effect" is called "highlight" and can be done with shapes. Sorry for this boring intermezzo of mine...

  • Text marker (lack of better word) keeps popping up in Firefox

Since yesterday whenever I click on any text or hover over certain links this annoying text marker thingy pops up. You know that line that symbolizes where your next letter is going to pop up when writing texts such as this one (example: [http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/842/examplecp.png/ How it's supposed to be] ), but while it's helpful while writing text, it's just plain annoying while trying to read text and that line is somewhere on your screen, "flashing" on and off.
Examples of how it's appearing: [http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/839/annoyingv.png/ Example 1]

Do anyone have any idea what's causing this or how I can fix it? I've tried reinstalling Firefox and obviously restarting my computer.

Hit '''F7''' and see that is fixed.

  • Pasting text from word replaces Keynote styles

I get documents that are styled in Word that I have to convert to Keynote. Even though my text boxes are styled in the Master Slides, when I copy and paste text from word it comes in with all of word's formatting and disregard's Keynote's styling for that text box. I tried to convert the word docs to rtf or just plain text, but the text just imports without Keynote's styling applied to it. It would be very tedious to have to style each text box as I bring it in to Keynote. Does anyone have any suggestions to make the workflow less painful?
    Thanks

    Welcome to the discussions, marc01.
I don't have Omni Outliner to test with, but that does sound like something that's worth looking into. Send feedback to Omni at their site and to Apple with this link.

  • The font of text marker insertion is different from before

A strange behaviour from a while: the default font of text marker insertion is different from before. I don't remember what font was before, but surely not the one of now.
I think it's probably due to "firefox" installation (it has caused also a system preferences modification I discovered with a lot of trouble...)
Anyway, how I can restore the "old" default font of marker text insertion?
(the problem occurs only on insertion because in arrange the usual font view is maintained)

its hard to work out what your problem exactly is. can you give more details? why is the text marker font important? do you mean how it displays in the text marker editor?

    Hi, taro99.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would recommend downloading Keynote again via your past purchases.  Here are the steps that will walk you through downloading it again from the Mac App Store.

  • How can I find items which have crop marks effect?

Now, I am creating a script for Illustrator CS4, CS5, CC2014 with Japanese version in Windows.
I wish to find items which have Crop Marks Effect (which is created by Effect > Crop Marks) by Javascript or VBScript.
    Is it possible?
    Any help is appreciated.

It looks like the crop marks are part of the "visibleBounds" of the object.  So if you compare the visibleBounds to the geometricBounds you should see a stable difference of 54.5pt
Test this out on some variations.  Quick testing shows that it looks viable.
    #target illustrator
    #targetengine "main"
    var workingDoc = app.activeDocument;
    if (workingDoc.pathItems[0].geometricBounds[0] - workingDoc.pathItems[0].visibleBounds[0] = 54.5)
        alert("crops");

  • How do I turn off text auto-formatting in Keynote?

How do I turn off text auto-formatting in Keynote?

You may uncheck some preferences in the Pages > Preferences menu item.
You may also define your own custom default template.
But you certainly are aware of that because it's described in the PDF User Guide delivered with every copy of iWork.

    Hi

You are more likely to get an answer if you ask in the Flash forum (this is the Flash Player forum).

Sorry, I don't know, perhaps someone else has tested them.  I would recommend you make your presentation on real computer using PowerPoint.

  • How do I highlight selected text in the Pages, Keynotes?

How do I highlight selected text in the Pages, Keynotes?

To answer your question foor your iOS Device using Pages or Keynote for iOS: You can't highlight as you might in many note taking apps for iPad, etc.
The best you can do at this point is to change the selected text's color by selecting the text > Style Menu (wrench) > Tap on the Font > Tap on the Color Box to reveal choices.
If you would like to join the chorus of folks wishing such a feature were in Pages and Keynote, you can leave feedback for the people at Apple:

  • Creating a "parallax" effect in Keynote

Is it possible to create a"parallax" effect in Keynote? It is the effect of moving in a synchronized fashion different backgrounds on the same slide at different speeds.
Examples can be found here: <https://ihatetomatoes.net/demos/parallax-scroll-effect/> or <http://speckyboy.com/2012/07/20/the-parallax-scrolling-effect-40-examples-and-tu torials/>

    Hi Gary,
Thank you very much for your response. This is helpful. I know that scrolling is not possible with Keynote but I suspect the effect can be simulated in Keynote. I placed several images on the same slide as layers. Then I have played with the "move" animation feature and the timing modifiers and have gotten close on the look and feel of parallax. Any other suggestions are welcome.

  • How do I get marked text (text marked in a textarea with mouse)

    Hi.
I want to implement a method that saves marked text in a textarea in a string. With marked text I mean text that the user marked with its mouse. Is there a method already in the JAVA library?

Sorry, my fault. Just had a glance in the JAVA API Specification ;)
Didn't know that DefaultEditorKit is part of the JAVA library.

  • Transparent smoke text after effects CS5.5

    Hello all,
Need some help here.  I'm sure this has been asked but as you search there's a million posts that come up and to read through all is, lets just say time consuming.  I wish I had more time to learn AE but I've been working with tutorials until I find time.
I've made a fabulous Smoke Text effect that  I then insert the .mov file into Final Cut Pro.  The smoke effect I downloaded from the tutorial has a black background and therefore when rendered out, it's a basic white text against a black background.  Once in FCP, I have to turn the file's opacity down in order for it to layer over a video file and not black out what I layer over it.
I need help.  How can I make the file transparent?  A simple toggle of the transparency grid isn't going to do it.  I need to make or find a video of smoke that is transparent?  Any help is greatly appreciated

I apprecaite the quick response and I will look into the resources you recommended.  However, I don't think my problem is exporting at this time.  In order for me to find an output module of RBG+A, I needed to go to cutsom.  It wasn't there until I toggled the transparency grid (unless I botched that up) and then used a custom output with RBG+A.  It didn't work.
I believe the Smoke movie file that was recommended to be used in the tutorial is the issue and the thing I need to make transparent.  I apprecaite your patience.

  • "text wrap image" in Keynote 5.0.3

I used the subject line (without quotations) to search for an answer in both Keynote and Pages forums, but found nothing relevant.
Surely I can place an image into Keynote 09 and be able to wrap/ flow the text around it. Hadn't I done this in the past? I'm not able to find it today- looked in the inspectors (there is no "wrap" inspector tab, all the menus, read the user guide (it doesn't even have the word wrap in it), and it's looking like I can't wrap/ flow text around an image.
I have to admit I'm surprised by that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially if you tell me it can be done and how to do it. ::grin::
    Thanks. Joel.

Sorry to go off-topic, but I just wanted to explain why the “if you have to wrap, it’s too much text” is a good rule, but like most rules, there are many instances where that rule can +and should+ be broken.
Most of the presentations I make are to public boards (public utility governing boards, county boards of supervisors, regulatory agency boards, etc.). Before the meeting, I submit my Keynote presentation, which is included in the agenda and ultimately becomes part of the permanent public record.
I could make a fabulous speech with an amazing, very simple Keynote presentation that supports my speech, but the decisions typically don't get made in the meetings. They get made based on the recommendations of staff members who use my Keynote presentation as a reference because they weren't at the meeting to hear my riveting speech.
In these cases, the Keynote presentation isn't a visual aid for my speech. The speech is an audio aid for the Keynote presentation. Succinct and well-written text organized logically with easy-to-understand graphics wins staff over to my position. Three words and a graphic on a slide that don't make sense without the accompanying speech accomplish nothing.
Anyway, *as you said*, there are exceptions to every rule and your point is a good one. I see all too often presentations where the speaker stands in front of the group and just reads his PowerPoint presentation word for word (the people who do this are inevitably using PP, not Keynote, of course )
The most important thing is to consider the purpose of your presentation, whom it will be presented to, and how it will be used. Anyone who is doing presentations professionally should understand this rule (and others), and the reason behind it. And at that point, you can make an informed decision about whether or not the rule is appropriate to your specific situation.
