Text size/text in browser size wrong (ff22)

There are some problems with my Firefox 22.0 since yesterday.
It started to show websites' text too large, had to use Ctrl and "-" every time I accessed any website. However, things how text looked in FF menus did not change. My actions:
1) FF forums. Opened config, searched for that numbers - there they were, unchanged.
2) control panel-->screen resolution-->Make text larger or smaller-->set to 100%
3) Monitor set to 75 Hz (no higher values) and True Color (32 bit)
PC responded I needed to log off. Turned PC off, then turned on.
Everything started to look small (text on a browser kind of hard to read), but hooray - websites are normal again. Tried to use 125% - no, websites are displayed wrongly big again.
edit: My WIn7 did not find any updates for monitor; same for Nvidia video card. WIndows updates are all installed.
Problem about disproportion between text in FF menus and website text still appears. Would be very gratefull for any solutions.

Code changes regarding HiDPI support for high resolution displays have landed in Firefox 22 and later (bug #844604).
You can modify the layout.css.devPixelsPerPx and increase or decrease the value in 0.1 or 0.05 steps to adjust the size of fonts and other elements in Firefox.
The layout.css.devPixelsPerPx pref is a String value parsed to a float and allows to fine tune the dimensions of all elements (user interface and web pages) more precisely (resolution 0.1 or 0.05).
Change the default value -1 to 1 to make it work like in previous Firefox versions (100%)
Start with a value of 1 and adjust this value with 0.1 steps or 0.05 for finer adjustments.
Use values between 1.0 and about 0.5 to reduce elements in size (do NOT go all the way to 0.05!)
Use values greater than 1.0 to magnify and make elements larger (percentage divided by DPI, % / DPI).
http://kb.mozillazine.org/about:config
If web pages needs to be adjusted after changing this pref then you can look at the Default FullZoom Level or NoSquint extension.
Default FullZoom Level: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level/
NoSquint: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/
Use this extension to adjust the font size for the user interface:

  • Photo Gallery w/ Images adjusting size based on Browser size.

    I'm new to web design but I'm trying to create a photo gallery with images that dynamically size based on the size of the browser window. Similar to this http://pageduke.com/#/Residential/Colonial%20Revival-Nashville1/1. I know th is a flsh site, but is there a way yo do it in HTML in Dreamweaver, maybe using Spry. I don't know Jquery, but is it possible that way.
    Thanks

    Nancy,
    Woo is not a gallery. It's just a slider - a panel widget, which should
    be adaptive/responsive by default. The problem is that for years, the
    typical jQuery plugin writer simply copies stuff done by others so
    someone finally realized you don't have to fix a width and a height if
    you know how to write a stub script
    Galleries are totally different. To do a responsive gallery is not so
    easy and the only ones that come remotely close - using open source
    scripts - do require an initial width. They will not scale both up and down.
    I gusess it depends on what the original poster wants and/or cares about
    in terms of efficiencies and functionality.

  • Native swf stage size vs. native browser size

    I want to be able to click on a link - http://fms.example.com/swfs/file.swf  in an email, for example and have it open up in a web browser in its size that was set in flash, not open up full screen in a browser.  any suggestions?

    As I said, you could probably create one php file that is used for all, feeding it the swf filename with the url so that the php can process it into the code. You should even be able to weave a db into the picture in the event the file sizes vary, such that the php queries the db for the file WxH data and then writes the page code.

  • How do I stop text from resizing to the size of the browser window

    Hello there,
    I am using a DW CS3 template that has a sidebar div and a
    main content div - the text in the main content div keeps resizing
    to the size of the browser window - I don't want the text to resize

    same. I am trying to float the text right and input a width but
    this is not working for me. What am I doing wrong?

    Many thanks!

    >>What am I doing wrong?
    Not giving us a link to the uploaded page so we can see the
    page, how it
    behaves and the actual code.
    Until we see that you are unlikely to get a definitive
    answer. The problem
    is unlikely as you state it because text itself is never
    dependant on the
    browser viewport size.

    Just bought brand new new iMac. When browsing in Safari, sometimes the text suddenly gets super large. I'm doing nothing except reading the screen, tho I usually have my hand resting lightly on the mouse. I can get back to normal size by clicking "actual size" in View. But then it does it again a minute or two later. What gives? Something seems defective--but what?

    From System Preferences, Mouse, Point & Click, Secondary click.  Go to it hover over Secondary click and watch the short video sequence change it left right, left right, you will see exactly what is does. No I do not think your Mouse is defective, you simply need to take control of your Mouse finger.

  • Allow user to insert varying size text in middle of paragraph, flow

    In the middle of a paragraph I would like to allow a user to add lines of text to fill in a blank. The text amount would vary in size. I have read about the subforms but I cannot get them to do what I want. The text has to follow the asterick and then the rest of the paragraph "compel the removal..." should follow, for a complete paragraph. Example of what I would like to do (see the * parts):
    The Company hereby insures the owner of the indebtedness secured by the mortgage referred to in paragraph _____ of Schedule _____ against loss which the insured shall sustain in the event that the owner of the easement referred to in paragraph _____ of Schedule B shall, for the purpose of *__________________ compell the removal of any portion of the improvements on the land which encroach upon said easement.
    * insert use against which insurance is to be given, e.g.,
    (1)Insurance limited to loss by reason of maintenance and repair of specific existing structure: maintaining and repairing the existing storm drain structure within said easement.
    (2)Insurance same as (1) plus enlarging or replacing existing structure: maintaining, repairing, enlarging or replacing the existing storm drain within said easement.
    (3)Insurance unlimited: exercising the right of use or maintenance of said easement.

    Hi, Can anyone please help me with me question above? I am completely lost and getting very frustrated with this program. I could really use some support. Are their other avenues of support? I bought a book but it didn't go into enough detail and it didn't teach me anything I didn't already figure out on my own. My main source of contention is subforms at the moment.

  • Read a large size text file

    how can i read a large size text file in multiple parts without lossin any data ?
    Ben

    Why are you afraid of losing data? There's no reason that you would lose data if you are reading a large text file.
    You should use the various Reader and Writer classes in package java.io to read and write text files. Here's an example of how you can read a text file line by line:
    BufferedReader r = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("myfile.txt));
    int lineno = 1;
    String line;
    while ((line = r.readLine()) != null) {
      System.out.printf("%d: %s%n", i, line);
      i++;
    r.close();

    Hi,
    It is possible to increase the size "Text" (SGTX: CHAR 50) field in FB70 tr. (Customer invoice)?
    B. Regards
    Francisco

    Francisco,
    In FB70, there is the basic data on the upper half of the screen and then there is the lower half where you enter G/L acct item(s).  For G/L acct item, if you scroll to the right until you see 'Text' field, you should see an icon right next to this field.  Pl click that to enter long text for that item.  The Text that is on the upper half of the screen does not have the long text option, you are right.

  • How to increase font size on Safari browser itself?

    Hello All
    I have been using my iMac for only a couple of weeks now, but during that time I have searched high and low for a setting to adjust the size of the font on the Safari browser - NOT the text on the web pages it displays (I figured that bit out!), the text on the actual browser frame itself e.g. the bookmark title, the titles displayed on the tabs etc
    I also have not figured out how to increase the size of the text on the navigation bar at the top of my iMac where all of the available options for the program in use are displayed (file, edit, view and so forth)...
    I am very pleased with the Mac overall, but the issue of these tiny weeny text sizes on the Mac navigation systems is a problem - anyone with real eyesight troubles would certainly be in a pickle!
    Hopefully someone here will know what to do - I guess I just haven't found the secret yet!
    Thanks!

    Greetings,
    Sorry, but you can't change the size of the fonts or the menus in application windows. They aren't that small, so if you have trouble seeing them, you can use the Zoom feature of Universal Access to enlarge everything you move your mouse over. It's in System Preferences.

  • Make a background photo that will resize to the users browser size

    I'm trying to create an effect like this in Iweb:
    http://neistatbrothers.com/
    You'll notice that the background image resizes to the browser size.
    I have read threads like that say to edit the HTML from "Scroll" to "Fixed"... that doesn't seem work.

    THIS website is NOT what I am looking for.
    Thanks!

    Thanks Wydor,
    I'm trying to decode this very elegent and cryiptic answer. I am an iweb user after all so I need a few more baby steps. I'm going to try and over-communicate to clarify. This response is long, but I appreciate your help.
    The link that you sent me (the way that page looks) is exactly what I am looking for.
    So I'm assuming that this is the code I will need :
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    parent.document.body.style.backgroundImage='url(../images/beach.jpg)';
    parent.document.body.style.backgroundRepeat='no-repeat';
    parent.document.body.style.backgroundPosition='50% 0%';
    parent.document.body.style.backgroundAttachment='fixed';
    parent.document.body.style.MozBackgroundSize = 'cover';
    parent.document.body.style.backgroundSize = 'cover';
    // -->
    </script>
    And of course changing the image title and folder.
    From iweb I have downloaded my "site" to a local folder where I can edit the HTML files from Dashcode 3.0.1.
    The code looks like this for that page which I have titled "Blank", the Image I want to use is titled "SNV33631.jpg"  :

    3: do I paste it in the "Index" file or the "Blank" file.

  • Make your site scale to the size of the browser

    Hi,
    I was wondering how you can make your website scale to the size of your browser? An example I found is Kampe.ca
    Thanks,
    Brandon

    Fluid (percentage based), elastic (em based) and fixed (pixel based) sites all have their plusses and minuses.  Deciding which one is appropriate for your particular project depends on the amount of content you need to display per page, target audience, devices, and personal preferences.
    Liquid layouts can get unwieldy on super wide or super narrow displays. Thus, if I have a lot of content to display,  I prefer to use a semi-liquid layout - % based along with min- and max-width restrictions.
    Elastic sites resize text and images proportionally which some people really like. Personally I prefer being able to resize text only in my browser without it affecting page and image dimensions.  That said, elastic layouts can work well for graphics heavy web sites.
    Fixed-width, centered layouts IMO are the most convenient to work with.  I think that's why so many web designers use them.  The trick is finding the "right width" for your target audience.  For most desktop and laptop users, 900 to 1100px is probably a good range.  For mobile devices, 480px.

  • Keeping layers overlapping in different browser sizes

    I am having trouble finding a simple solution to a AP Div problem. I have set up a new file using Dreamweavers HTML page "1 column fixed, centred, header and footer". This is excellent as it keeps the design no matter which browser size my audience may be using. I now wish to add a new Div which will contain my links bar across the top overlapping my logo. When I do this the links bar layer does not move with the rest of the design as the browser size changes.
    So basically how can I maintain any new layers I add to this page to keep them moving in line with the headers, footers and rest of the Divs as the browser resolution/size changes?
    Help appreciated!

    If you do keep on with the use of AP divs then I think my earlier comment is how I see the solution to what throws a lot of people:
    martcol wrote:
    If you do use position absolute you should think about using position:relative on the containing element which will then become the reference for the positioned element.
    An absolutely postitioned element is always positioned relative to something.  If a containing element is not set as position:relative the absolutely positioned element's reference becomes the browser window.  This means that the absolutely positioned element is positioned relative to something that can be moved around (that's my paraphrase).
    Likewise, absolutely positioned elements don't seem like anything else that isn't absolutely positioned or fixed.  So, if you use AP divs as a crucial part of the structure of your page you need to check carefully what might happen if the user increases the text size in the browser.
    Best of luck

  • "Browser" size not sticking

    I've noticed a problem that's reproducible for the most part, but doesn't seem to be totally consistent. The problem is that I'm constantly having to readjust the size of the browser in iTunes (the thing you see when you hit Command-B). It seems to happen (almost) every time I go to a section of iTunes other than "Music" then come back, or when I quit the program and restart.
    Is this a bug, or did the engineers just assume no one would want to leave the browser open at all times, so the size the user selects doesn't need to be remembered?

    My attempts to reproduce it have revealed more strangeness (but I can reproduce it).
    I started with the "Music" section of my library selected and with the browser not visible by hiding it and quitting iTunes.
    1. Start iTunes
    2. Show the browser with Command-B
    3. Adjust the height of the browser to show 7 or 8 items (not sure if the count matters)
    4. Go to the iTunes Store or the the Music Videos smart playlist
    5. Go back to Music in the library
    6. The browser size will now be "in between" items. That is, the last visible item will be partially cut off.
    Now, the other weird thing I found is that if I quit at that point without re-adjusting the size, then start iTunes again, the browser will have returned to the correct size.
    I was, however, able to reproduce the behavior of the size being wrong when you quit and restart. It seems that if you adjust the height of the browser and then quit iTunes without doing anything else, the height will have changed when you restart iTunes. Weird.
