TextArea autoSize/ autowrap not working

Question

Hi,
I did a search and found few solutions to this problem however it is not working in my case.
I am facing problem related to TextArea auto wrap.
I used the following code I found on net to fix this however it is not working.

This works for me:
            import mx.core.mx_internal;
            use namespace mx_internal;
            private function textareaCreationComplete(e:Event):void {
                var textfield:TextField = e.target.getTextField() as TextField;
                with(textfield){
                    autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT;
                e.target.height = textfield.height;
However, again, this is a "hack" to me. The reason you'd use TextArea is you get scrollbars if the text does not fit to the given area. You are trying to resize the component to fit to its content, ie. trying not to show the scrollbars. In that case why not just use regular TextField, which you can auto resize easily without any hacks?
