Texts more then 60 characters?

Hi friends,
we have in source system (ECC) a table, which includes some texts for every Profit Center for each month
001.2010 PRCTR1 Text1
002.2010 PRCTR1 Text2
001.2010 PRCTR2 Text3
002.2010 PRCTR2 Text4u2026
Text field (Text1, 2, 3u2026) can have approx. 100-120 characters.
They want to show those texts in BW reports according to Profit Center and Period.
But I donu2019t know how to define those fields in BW data model ?
If I define it as an Infoobject then they can have max 60 characters.
How would you define the data model in BW to show the text fields completely?

BW users often turn to BW-based Web queries to display document-level details. For example, vendors often access BW reports through the Web and need to view long text stored on purchase orders or delivery documents. However, length limitations on BW InfoObjects restrict how much data users can display in BW Web queries. You can display text greater than 60 characters in BW Web queries by enhancing the context menu of Web queries and using a Business Server Page (BSP) application in the back end.
SAP Web Application Server includes BSP, a page-based programming model with server-side scripting as well as server page technology for developing, designing, and implementing Web applications. Server-side scripting enables direct access to all elements in the application server (such as function modules, database tables, ABAP Objects, and remote function modules).
To display text greater than 60 characters in BW reports, you must enhance the context (right-click) menu on BW Web queries by modifying the Web template to call the BSP application. In turn, the BSP application calls a remote function module in R/3 to retrieve the text and present it in a pop-up window. You must set up a separate BSP application for each field (such as delivery number) for which you want to display the enhanced context menu. Then, all users see the new option in their context menu.

Verizon, Texting more than 160 characters

I got my phone a couple months ago and noticed the blackberry doesnt let u txt more than 160 characters. however yesterday while on the subway, i hit reply to a sms txt message, and instead of saying 160 at the top. it said 124 of 1/6. and i kept txting and it let me text more than 1 page. i went to verizon and asked them about this and they said it must be a glitch, but i dont understand how its a glitch if it did it in the first place. and so im wondering if there is a way i can get it to txt more than 160 characters in a txt message.

The same thing has happened to me a couple of times. It gave me the option of 1/6 pages with 124 characters on each page. I've been meaning to go to the VZW store and ask about it but i guess they would just tell me the same as you. Have you heard/found anything else about it the matter? It won't even allow you to send more than 160 to another verizon carrier! I've never had that problem with any phone and i had a curve and i currently own a tour and both have done it in the period span of possessing them. Actually, i think the tour did it around the same date of your occurence. BB mess up? I have no clue. But, i really liked that concept. Why isn't it just an option. It's rather stupid. Either way i thought it was weird that we have had the same exact thing happen around the same time of the year but I also had it repeat the "glitch" a couple of times afterwards. There has to be a way to make that permanent. Or, at least, i hope.

SPOOL - how to display output list of more then 255 characters?

I've just discovered this forum - I'm very new and let's say unexperienced in SAP, unlike you :)!
Didn't know where to put my subject (in what folder) so I apologize in advance if I'm mistaken... I work as an ABAP programmer in SAP Core and SAP IS-T and currently I'm worried about this problem:(!
We have these huge reports in IS-T that have to be run in background, because of lot of data. Most of reports are very wide and don't fit in those 255 characters that is SAP standard for spool display. Now I'm dealing with this RFC that has to provide spool display with 800 characters, and this has to be on production by tomorrow:)!!!!!
First I created new format type (ZX_65_800) in transaction SPAD and assigned it to my local printer. I thought this would be enough, but I was wrong. Because when I try to run my programe in background, the system doesn't offer me my format at all :(!
Is there anything else I must do in order to get it.... (I work in Release 620)
If anyone had the same problem, please contact me!

We have been looking for a solution for what I believe is the same problem, for more than 2 years now. I would just like to verify with you, if your requirement are similar to ours.
Problem:
1.     Requirement is to run large HR reports either standard or with Ad Hoc Query in background mode in a company with more than 50,000 employees.
2.     Nobody wants printed reports these days. We want to save the forests. Customers prefer to be emailed an Excel file so they can do further data analysis, filtering, pivot tables etc.
3.     Reports are running OK in foreground for smaller sections of the organisation, where you send the output to Excel from ALV, or save as a local file in spreadsheet format.
4.     But large reports for entire company are awkward, tie up your PCs resources, and complex reports accessing many tables can timeout before completion.
5.     So scheduling these reports to run in background would be the ideal solution.
6.     However when we access the report output from SP02, we find that most reports (say with more than 13 or so fields) have an output wider than 255 characters and the output of the spool file wraps to the next line in Excel. It is very tricky to then parse the data back into one row for each employee. And you have a problem if you output is for 50,000 or so employees, because then you file is 100,000 rows and will not load completely into Excel limit problem of 65,536 characters.
7.     We simply want a spool file that does not wrap the data to the next line after 255 characters.
8.     But how to explain this simple requirement to some technical people. It seems a lot of posts on SDN think we always want to print a spool file. NO remember the forests!
Possible Solutions:
I see a lot of posts here that refer to OSS note 186603, but they dont mention the target for the output of the spool is to import into an Excel File (i.e. spreadsheet format). Just search for 186603 or Spool request with more than 255 columns. There is also a reference to OSS note 313566. I am not sure if these will work?
I have also seen the suggestions that you need to define a customer printer format that does not wrap the output after 255 characters (create a new format type in transaction SPAD).
Did you find a solution yet to this problem, do the solutions above work, or can anyone else help us!

More than 160 characters in each text message

I don't get why Verizon made the switch for every other phone to be able to text more than 160 characters, but not for blackberrys.....

BlackBerry Messenger has more than 160 characters. Unlimited, maybe??? On my BB, two or three texts in a row show all together like one text. Do yourself and others a favor and either learn some texting shorthand, or learn how to get to the point. long texts are very annoying. SMS stands for Short Messaging Service. I try to remember that when I text. In my personal experience, I say wat too much whenever I send long texts. And once its sent, there's no taking it back!

Reading Texts longer than 132 Characters

I am working on Reading Texts more that 132 characters long.Texts should include Symbols also.I want to Create and Savethe texts and then read them wherever I want from ABAP functions.
I want to know the Transports information relating to this.

Have to pass the parameters like OBJECT,ID, OBJECTNAME,LANGUAGE
You can transport these texts using the program RSTXTRAN

READ_TEXT provides a text for the application program in the specified work areas.
The function module reads the desired text from the text file, the text memory, or the archive. You must fully specify the text using OBJECT, NAME, ID, and LANGUAGE. An internal work area can hold only one text; therefore, generic specifications are not allowed with these options.
After successful reading, the system places header information and text lines into the work areas specified with HEADER and LINES.

MessageTextInput allows more then MaximumLength

Hi,
Our Uix file has a messageTextInput field, MaximumLength attribute is 250.
When text is entered using key board it allows only 250 characters but we can paste(cut/paste) more then 250 characters in the messageTextInput. After pressing enter or TAB it truncates the field and only 250 characters are displayed.
How to restrict users to paste less then 250 characters?
The messageTextInput field is �.

Using the UIX that ships with JDeveloper 10G (UIX 2.2), I was unable to paste more characters than a regular <messageTextInput> allows. I used IE 6.0 as my browser.
This behavior may be affected by the browser and UIX version you use.

Using more then 126 chars for naming models...

Today i noticed that models in Shockwave3D can have a maximum
number of 126 characters. I needed to know that because i have to
store some Informations in the names of the models when i export
them (i have not option to use the "userdate" when exporting the
models).
But now something interesting happend when i tried to create
long names in director via lingo. If the names are longer then 126
charakters they are limited to the first 126.
if you use for example this code to generate a new group:
member("world").newgroup("Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet,
consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod
tincidunt ut laoreet dolore magna aliq")
this are 126 chars, you get a group with exact this name.
if you now add more charakters at the end it will produce
another group with the same name as the group above. You can check
this in the Objectinspector.
use now this code:

consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod

It will produce a second Group with exact the same name. The
good thing is, that you can still reference to the model with that
long name, the bad thing is, you can't read the full name of the
model anymore.
What does this mean in the end?
There is a visible name of the model that can be read by
lingo, but there is the "real" name of the model that can be used
to reference to models. If the names have more then 126 chars you
can only see the shortend name but its still nessesary to reference
to the longer name.
if you try this in the message window (this are 127 chars, i
added a "2" as last character):

Conclusion:
It's better not to use more then 126 characters for naming
models.
But if you want to prevent your 3D models from being used by
other people, then you can use longer names and add for example a
serialnumber to the models, behind char 126. So you can generate
shockwave apps that need to know the correct name of the model.
if you give your models in your 3D app names like this:
"Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit,
sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut laoreet dolore magna
aliq_12345"
(132 chars)
the last part is in this example the serialnumber "_12345"
you can only reference to the models with
serialnum="_12345"

put rightname.position
Maybe interesting to some people that want to make external
w3D files unconfortable to handle for other people, you still can
reference to the models by their numbers. I think it will only
prevent models form the "CloneModelFromCastmember" command, not
much... in the end there is no real protection when external *.w3d
files are used...

Texting more than 160

Maybe this has been answered but i cannot find it through search. When will BB support auto brakin up of sms texting longer than 160 characters. I have 6 smart phones in my family, all from different manufacturers plus another for my work and all of them will automatically send out any sms message longer than 160 characters as seperate texts with a 1 of 2, 2 of 2 listing. No annoying field is full message. I know beyond 160 can be purchased but this should be fixed already. Does version 5 OS resolve this? If so i will have to wait for sprint to get off thier butts and approve it for the BB curve. Thanks

Anyone who's texting more than 160 characters is either using a third-party app (such as is available in AppWorld) or is using BlackBerry Messenger. The 160 character limit is a carrier-imposed limitation which is pretty much industry-wide (the shorter the messages, the more messages need to be sent, the more money they make).
I'm not sure of any such apps by name, but if you go to AppWorld and search under IM & Social Networking>Instant Messaging, you should find some that will accomplish getting around the 160 character limit. I believe what they do is to split your long message into two smaller messages, but atleast it saves you from having to stop typing after 160 characters.

While switching to double check this I just saw that this also happens in this very window in wich i am typing my question now. If i copy and paste this text to for example notepad or anything else, it shows up like normal text.

This issue can be caused by the bitmap version of the Helvetica or Geneva font or another (bitmap) font that can't be displayed by Firefox in that font size.
Firefox can't display that font in the specified size and displays gibberish instead.
You can test that by zooming out (View > Zoom > Zoom Out, Ctrl -) to make the text smaller.
Uninstall (remove) all variants of that not working font to make Firefox use another font or find a True type version of that font that doesn't have the problem.

How do I get the text to flow throughout more then one page.

I am currently using LiveCycke Designer to create a scholarship for my company. I created fields for the form and I would like to insert a text to describe the scholarship. When I insert the text, it doesn't flow onto the next page. I've tried creating a subform and clicking "flowed" and "allow page breaks within content". I also clicked auto-fit for the height, but it just makes a line. For the text box, I've clicked "Expand to fit on the height". It is also a dynamic XML Form. Is there anything else I should be doing?
I could always send the file to someone to see if they can figure it out.

Here is the corrected form..Even you you set the Subform type to "Flowed" to the subform where the Text box resides, you did not set the Page1 to Flowed (which is the key)..But when I make the Page1 type to "Flowed", all your fields above the Scholrship text boxes' Subform will go one below another.. To fix this, first I have select all the fields and wrap them into a subform and then set the Page1 to Flowed..

I've been trying to find more information on this and I apologies if this has already been answered. I just don't know the correct way to ask this. We have a SharePoint List at the company that we have people input information into different columns. The
problem is most of those information are very repetitive. Is there a way for me to search more then one field text in the column and just input that same information in?
ex:

On the search field in the SharePoint List, I would need to search for 883851, 8831518 etc, would view those requested numbers, then I would click edit and change dates to those rows. Does that make sense? I'm sorry I'm fairly new at sharepoint.

I think what you're asking is about having repetitive options in a list, show up easily for new items being created.
This can be done by setting the columns that contain repetitive information to Choice fields. In the configuration of the Choice field, check the box for "Allow custom values". Now as users are entering data into the list, the dropdown of options
for a given field grows and users can quickly see and select previously entered and thus repetitive values for the given fields.

How to put more than 1200 characters in a text form within a pdf created in Adobe Acrobat

I need to know how to put more than 1200 characters in a text form within a pdf created in Adobe Acrobat. I have a request from a customer to do so and after googling I have came up with nothing. Also the customer would like it if they could convert said pdf form to a microsoft word document with the text form.

There's no limit on the number of characters you can enter into a text
field, unless you set it as such.

More than 255 characters in a table text field

Dear experts,
i am facing a problem (in WD Alv too) that i can not display more than 255 characters in a single text field.
I want to display a table containing a description field without a limitation of its length. As soon as providing a (formatted) string longer than 255 characters of length, no interactive form is shown on screen.
Debugging a while, the following error message occurs;
ADS: com.adobe.ProcessingException: com.adobe.ProcessingException: XMLFM Exception - PDF render operation exception, reason code: 0 : InvalidXDPException: Xml parsing error: reference to invalid character number (error code 14) ...
Does anybody have similar problems to mine?
Did anyone resolve the issue to show more than 255 characters in a table in interactive form?

Yes, i maintained "allow multiple lines" and did not limit length somehow.
The problem arises in portal, pressing the preview button of a zform. providing a string <255 characters of length, everything works fine.
