The Generic Extractor DataSource's TimeStamp table?

We known the FI DataSource has the TimeStamp table BWOM2_TIMEST which provide two fields TS_LOW and TS_HIGH to store the Safty Interval information. I think the Generic Extractors DataSource may has the similar TimeStamp table too. If it is right, where is the TimeStamp table to Generic Extractors DataSource? Thanks for your reply.

Missing new fields in generic extractor but present in table view

Hi
I can't see new fields in generic extractor but they are present in the table view.
Few days ago I created a generic datasource based on table view. Now I included 2 more fields in the table view but these fields doesn't show in RSA6 and RSO2.
how can i resolve this.

Hi Bhat,
GO to RSA5 and give ur generic extractor name ....
Click on edit the newly added fields will be hided ...so u need to uncheck the hide olumn
once this is done save that.
U will find the fields in RSA3 and RS02

Create generic extractor based on 2 tables

hey BI gurus,
I have to create a generic extractor based on these 3 tables:
eban - i need all fields
vttk - i need only 4 fields i.e
                                     route,
                                     tknum,
                                     datbg,
                                     daten
ekbe - budat.
now the problem is thr is no common field between vttk & eban AND vttk & ekbe. but thr is a common field between eban & ekbe.so i can create a view only on these 2 tables but i want 3 tables
how do i proceed???

Hi,
Sometimes, if your application or requirement makes it necessary, you have to create your own function module to extract the data from whatever sap system to bw.
Therefore you normally make a copy of the standard fm 'RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA_SIMPLE'. To make this new function work for you, you have to realize the following.
1.) the fm gets called by the extraction api for at least 2 times. First time is for initialization and from the 2nd time on it is for data extraction.
2.) right after the last data package (somehow you need to make sure that it is the last one) you have to raise the exception no_more_data.

Generic Extractor built on an infoset which uses a logical database

Is anyone aware of any performance issues when building an infoset generic extractor which uses a logical database as the source? Also would anyone also be aware the process of collecting data for extraction? Thanks

Thanks for this - I have been informed that there are issues with a small subset of data and I just wanted to get an idea if the steps that would be carried out be the same if the generic extractor is built on table joins or logical data base or does the latter actual carry out say some pre processing steps

Building a Generic Extractor on the Material (MBEW) Valuation table

When I build an extractor based off the MBEW table does it matter whether the generic extractor is transactional i.e. any performance, conflict type issues? My thought is to build it as a Master data generic extractor? Thanks

I hope, It Does not matter. We can created Master data source on MBEW.
If you want to define this DS as Transaction datasource and If MBEW has More than material and plant as primary key, then it is better to upload the data to ODS first to avoid duplicate records problems while uploading to master data infoobject.

Generic Extractor on Table VBAP

Hi Gurus,
I want to develop a Generic Extractor on table VBAP, but unfortunately its not giving me the extract structure when I save in RSO2, the screen wherein we select our fields are not displayed. Is there anything i am missing in the steps. Pls help us out with this issue.
I am able to create the generic extractor with other tables with usual proceedure.

This is the problem with the amount and currency reference fields in your extract structure.
"This operation failed, because the template structure quantity fields or currency fields, for example, field CMPRE_FLT refer to a different table."
As you have an amount field, the currency reference table might be different and hence, it is giving this error.
I think u need to create view and then append the currency or quanity fields , and populate them through User exit.

Generic Extractors for HR Reports using views and Infoset Query

Hi Friends... I am working to come out with the HR reports in BW for the HR reports which are already there in R/3. The HR reports in R/3 are created based on Infoset Query.I could not find any standard business content cubes which can give me these reports.
1)So please can anyone give me step by step approach so to create a generic extractors based on Infoset Query.
2)And also how to populate the data into the fields of the generic extractor which is created by Infoset Query( Please provide any sample ABAP code if available)

Hi Kalyani,
We normally go for View or infoset when the data to be fetched in BW is distributed in different tables in SAP R/3.
Had the data been available in one table we can easily build our datasource on that table but if there are more tables then its not possible to do it without Views or Infosets. You can use Function Modules to build your datasource in case it involves complex logic to figure out the data from various tables.
Depending upon the table relationships we create view and include various fields from these tables in that view. Same is with the Infosets, you can have more flexible options like Outer Join, left outer Join etc.

In my project I am pulling data from 4 R/3 tables... I have created view & then Generic DataSource.
Can a delta update be set-up for the generic extractor based on adds/changes to the R/3 tables?

Generic Extractor: enriching GL Data with Purchasing Data

Experts,
This is my first time with Generic Extractor.
Requirement:
We have a requirement to enrich GL data with Purchasing data via the Material Document Number.
I need to provide this upto to the datawarehouse layer wherein another team will take over.
Solution idea:
Material Document is not part of the datasource 2LIS_02_SCL.
a. Should I enhance this datasource to include material number OR
b. Develop a concept to create a generic delat enabled extractor that pulls data from EKBE, GR and IR information.
In EKBE multiple material documents can exist per PO. The extractor returns 2 record per PO (before and after image) with the updated information.So if we have the first GR with Material document 901 and then a second GR with material doc 902 the extractor loads 3 records. New record, Before image and after image and the only one stored in BI is the after image. material doc would have value 902 if enhanced.
For the generic extractor approach the the ability to load deltas is crucial, since the EKBE table is very big. Maybe
"CPUDT-Day On Which Accounting Document Was Entered" and "CPUTM-Time of Entry" can be leveraged as delta hook.
Any ideas???

Delta in generic extractor.

Hi Everyone,
I have created one of the generic extractor on a table and the other one on a view. While selecting the GENERIC DELTA, I let the numeric pointer selection checked.
Now, my question is will it allow me to do delta load in my cube using this extractor?
2nd question is how?
3rd question is if not then what is the change that I need to make so that it allows me to load the delta load. How this changes need to be made can you please explain step by step. thanks in advance.
My issue arose after loading the data when I went to change the InfoPackage to load the delta part, I realised in my InfoPackage I do not have the choice to load delta. How do I settle this. Actually this is an inventory cube where the data is loaded at the end of each month and now when I wanted to test it for today's month I realised that I do not have the choice to load delta for inventory load.
Please explain. Thank you once again in advance.

Yes... you build Generic Extractor with Delta based on Numeric Pointer. Material Documents is the Perfect Example for that (We can't Sales Document or Purchase Document for this).

Simple enable Material Document Number Fileds for Numeric Pointer (Select Numeric Pointer... provide Mat. Document No. field i.e. MBLNR).

you need to create Material Documents in SAP R/3. If you build your Extractor on MSEG Table. You need to create any Material Document which populates in MSEG.
I don't remember wht exactly option we will get in Infopackage for Numeric Pointer. To my knowledge, it should give Delta only in Update Tab page.

Generic Extractor Question

Hi
I would like to create a Generic Extractor on table QMFE which has Created Date and Changed Date fields.
If I have to get deltas, I can use only one field in Extractor for Delta option: Either Created Date or Change Date.
If I use Create Date, I'll miss Changes and vice versa.
I felt Function Module Extractor will be 2much complex.
Can any one suggest what is the best approach to get deltas in this scenario?

Hi Sree,
1) The simplest approach will be to create a single extractor and set the delta pointer to Changed Date, but this is only possible if you populate changed date = Created date for the very first time you create records. So that by using changed date you will not miss any newly created delta records, check with your functional team whether this is possible or not?
2) Otherwise you can create two generic extractors and use two different delta pointers one with Created Date and other with changed date. In the generic extractor you simply need to set your delta pointer and modify the OPEN CURSOR statment to include the proper delta field in selection of data. Rest of your code will be same for both the extractors.
Now if you go for 1st approach then you will have to create only one IP in BW and include it in process chain but in 2nd approach you will have to create two IP (one for each DS) and include both in process chain. It will only increase your data loading time.

Hi Milind,
Under R/3, go to TCODE RSO2, you are presented with 3 options "Transaction Data", "Master Data", "Text". You choose which is the type of Generic Extractor you want.
There is a button labeled "DELTA" on the upper left corner of the screen. You indicate there which of the fields in your Extract Structure will be used as DELTA indicator or reference point.
You can choose either via Numeric Pointer, Timestamp, Calendar Day.

Generic Extractor using FM with Delta Logic

Hi,
i want to create a generic extractor with Delta Logic based on a FM.
The extractor works fine for full loads (extractor method "F" or "C"), but delivers no record for the extractor method "D" (Delta). I placed a hard coded break-point in the FM, so that the processing should stop while testing it with TC "rsa3". Using the extractor method "D" the debugger doesn't stop. So it seems, that this FM will not be processed for method "D". What could be wrong?
I tried different ways to create the generic extractor:
First i copied the template "RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA_SIMPLE" and tried to get the information for delta-run by "LOOP AT i_t_select INTO l_s_select WHERE fieldnm = 'DATE_FIELD'." But as the processing for method "D" does not consider the FM, there is no chance to get delta data.
On second try i used the template "RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA" and changed "EXMETHOD" from "F1" to "F2" in table ROOSOURCE for the Data Source. In this case i get information about the Update mode (Parameter i_updmode). But the processing leaves the FM for extractor method "D" out too.
Does anybody know, why the FM is not processed for extractor method "D"?
Is there another way to get delta capable extractors based on FMs?

0WBS element (external format) as append field in generic extractor?

we use an generic extractor for our CO-PA data, as a join of different tables. Now I get the issue with this internal format of PSP element. It is of NUMC 8 and my basic data PSP element is CHAR 24. As they are not matching I want to add the POSID as an append field. But how to do this?
In table PRPS I found the Include PRPS_INC an thought about using this in my extract structure? Is this possible? How do I need to go on and to simply have my additional field - with content! - in my extract structure?
First I used an append and put in my include. As there are no fields extracted to BI I think this is wrong!? How can I delete my append?

I have not created an special Append on the VEKP. I created an generic extractor on the VEKP. All fields of VEKP are available and I can hide or choose selection-field for all of these fields. No problem.
i created an append on the extract structure via RSA6 - enhancement. I know that after generating the generic extractor with RSO2 all settings done in former times in RSA6 are lost. But, my problem is: I can not see any of the fields I put into the append. They are not there. Not in ROOSFIELD and following not in RSA6. And that's the problem.
