The JSP Tag Exception

I have a Struts V 1.1 application that uses Tiles Pluginn also. I have a layout file in which I have Header, Left Navigation Body, and footer. The body is tiles:insert page ="....". In the body I have a fmt:parseDate tag. If the date format in that tag is invalid the JSP somehow does not redirect to the error page. I do have the error page directive as <%@ page errorPage="/error.jsp" %>. It just shows ServletException right in the jsp text redered on a client browser. I have no clue why it would not process the error page JSP directive. Any help is appreciated

It's complaining with a NoClassDefFoundError.
Most likely you have something in your $CLASSPATH that depends on a
class in your WEB-INF/lib. I'd start by removing anything you've added
to the $CLASSPATH.
Not sure why it's working when TwoPhase is false. There should not be
any difference. Difficult to say without more info.

Hi,
I am seeing this strange problem - When I deploy an application using the weblogic
console, it sets the attribute "TwoPhase" to "true" and I get a servlet exception
which looks like one of the jsp tag classes isn't found in classpath.(I have tried
putting the required jar in the web-inf/lib folder & had tried using the Manifest.mf
classpath entry of the "war" file too). The same "ear" file gets deployed fine
if I set this "TwoPhase" to "false". I will appreciate if anyone can explain what
going on with this attribute and why weblogic doesn't seem to be able to find
the class in one case but not in the other.
The error message is something like this
javax.servlet.ServletException: org/displaytag/tags/TableTag
     at weblogic.servlet.internal.ServletStubImpl.invokeServlet(ServletStubImpl.java:452)
Thanks,
Shyam.

  • Creating custom jsp component - Finding the jsp tag descriptor htmlb.tld

    Hi,
    I want to create my own TabStrip component by extending the SAP Standard HTMLB components TabStrip and TabStripItem. I've found the classes that I need to extend under the jar below, but I can't find the htmlb.tld file. I need to make a copy of this file to create a tag descriptor for my new components in order to use them in my JSP.
    The classes I am using are in the com.sapportals.htmlb package, located in the file
    ECLIPSE_HOME/plugins/com.sap.tc.ap_2.0.0/comp/SAP_JTECHS/DCs/sap.com/com.sapportals.htmlb/_comp/gen/default/public/default/lib/java/htmlb.jar
    I've searched the jars in the "plugins" directory of NWDI but can't find it (although I did find some other tld files). I'm guessing it must be somewhere on the poertal, but where?
    Please help
    Thanks
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    If you have access to your portal's installation box - then you can get this TLD at the following paths:
    <Installation Drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\<instance no>\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\com.sapportals.htmlb.ear\servlet_jsp\htmlb\root\WEB-INF

  • Why the jsp tag jsp:forward page="page.jsp" / works when i work with web server iPlanet in a Solaris machine and doesn't work with the same web server, in a Windows 2000 machine ?

    The request parameters don't go to the "page.jsp"...

    If someone else runs into this, here is how I solved the problem -
              If you create a PrintWriter object with the autoflush option, it
              doesn't flush the underlying buffer till you call println on it. I
              looked through the generated code for the servlet, and it was doing a
              JSPWriter.print() to output information.
              So, I changed the ResponseWrapper to keep a handle to the PrintWriter
              object, and then flush it in the filter, and that works.
              Why the same code behaves differently in JRun & Weblogic, I'm not sure

  • Jsp tag libraries

    hi All,
    I am receiving an error when i come to start a jsp page, it returns null pointer exception. so when I checked it is coming from the JSP tag Libraries. instead of the jsp libraries there is a null pointer exception . so any clue how to fix that ?
    thanks
    Amgad

    Yes, marika, download the Jakarta JSTL implementation, unzip it, and put it everything in its /lib directory in your WEB-INF/lib. Then you can refer to the taglib in your JSPs like this:
    <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %>That's all you need to do. No <taglib> in your web.xml or anything else. - MOD

  • Error importing SharePoint site collection - "there is an error during importing the Roles tag"

    Hi, we are having trouble restoring a SharePoint 2010 site collection using our DPM 2012 installation. The recovery process goes fine (restore of the database, attach to the sql server, export into WFE's filesystem) and the last phase, the SharePoint import,
    seems to end with an exception. We see this in the WssCmdletsWrapperCurr.errlog file:
    Caught Exception while trying to import Url .....
    Exception message =
    There is an error during importing the Roles tag
    Exception Stack =
    at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.ReadAttribute.String(....
    It looks like it is a SharePoint import issue, but I'm not sure. We have tried to restore the site into an empty one, and the exception appears again, although it *seems*  that the content has been recovered. We have imported using the security info
    on the recovery point.
    I've searched for that error message in the Net but I've been unable to find anything appropriate.
    Do you have any hints?
    Thanks.

  • JSP Tags and pooling.

    We are researching JSP Tags as a method of seperating our creative and coding efforts. • JSP Tags in JSPX

    I have been using jsp tags (.tag) in my JSF-JSPs to reuse components.
    As I have seen, Oracle recommends using .jspx instead of .jsp, so in my way to create a new application using jspx I found that I can not make the jsp tag work (using jspx and tagx)
    This is the code I'm trying:
    ---------------- prubaTag.tagx -----------------
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0"
    xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces">
    <af:outputText value="Hello from tag"/>
    </jsp:root>
    ---------------- prubaTemplate.tagx -----------------
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='windows-1252'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0"
    xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
    xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
    xmlns:afh="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/html"
    xmlns:tags="/WEB-INF/tags"
    xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces">
    <jsp:output omit-xml-declaration="true" doctype-root-element="HTML"
    doctype-system="http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"
    doctype-public="-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"/>
    <jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"/>
    <f:view>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type"
    content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"/>
    <title>TemplateTest</title>
    </head>
    <tags:pruebaTag/>
    <body><h:form binding="#{backing_pruebaTemplate.form1}" id="form1"></h:form></body>
    </html>
    </f:view>
    <!--oracle-jdev-comment:auto-binding-backing-bean-name:backing_pruebaTemplate-->
    </jsp:root>

    This is from 4GL Developer Guide
    " 11.3 Creating a Web Page
    While JSF supports a number of presentation layer technologies, JDeveloper uses JSP
    as the presentation technology for creating JSF web pages. When you use JSF with JSP,
    the JSF pages can be JSP pages (.jsp) or JSP documents (.jspx). JSP documents are
    well-formed XML documents, and the XML standard offers many benefits such as
    validation against a document type definition. Hence, Oracle recommends that you
    use JSP documents when you build your web pages using ADF Faces components.
    Unless otherwise noted, the term JSF page in this guide refers to both JSF JSP pages and
    JSF JSP documents. "
    By the way, I have solved this problem using:
    xmlns:tags="urn:jsptagdir:/WEB-INF/tags/"

  • JSP tags and onLoad

              I have a JSP custom tag that places a value in the HTTPRequest attribute section.
              A chunck of code within a JavaScript function called from a <BODY onLoad> statement
              in the JSP is to pick up this value. However, the onLoad() event seems to be called
              before the tag is executed and the value placed in the attribute space.
              Now the JavaScript onLoad() function should be called when the window has finished
              loading and the JSP tag is part of the window load. Has anybody else seen this sort
              of behavior?

    Hi,
              I am not sure what your problem is, however I have some suggestions:
              1) as the onload is executed at the client side I don't think it can ever really pick
              up something from a request attribute
              2) inspect the generated html code, if the onload method is reasonable
              3) generate the onload method at the latest possible point, so it can pick the needed
              values at generation time

  • HOWTO?  Make JSP tags small in JDev Design

    I use the JDev Design view to quickly navigate around my JSP pages. However the visual tags become huge and make it hard to use. Is there a way to make the visual tags small; Say show only the type of tag?
    Thanks

    Not sure whether you have turned on the 'Execute Tag in Visual Editor' option in Manager Libraries dialog or not.
    If you haven't turned that option on, then there is a way to just show the jsp tag name.
    Go to Tools->Preference,
    Select JSP and HTML Visual Editor
    check the 'Show JSP Tag Name Only' option
    Select OK.
    Now, go to your jsp page and hit refresh and see whether this helps.

  • Error with custom JSP tags

    Firstly, thanks for any assistance. The problem I'm facing is that I am using this open source tag library in WebLogic Platform v8.1.5 and it is showing an error when viewed within Workshop. The problematic custom tag was underlined in red by Workshop with the error message "ERROR: This attribute value is not valid." when hovering the mouse over it.
    I tried the other JSP tag specified in the tld file and they were ok. I suspect that there might be an error in one of the Java classes that form the JSP tag. As I hardly do much JSP tag, so my question is my hunch correct? Or should I look elsewhere? The JSP tag in question has an empty <bodycontent> and basically exposes some static variables for use in the JSP page. The tld file is as below and the problematic tag is highlighted in bold. thansk for your help.

    Hola a todos,
    Estoy creando un jsp tag file que solo muestra un mensaje "Esto es una prueba" y la incluyo en una jsp normal, el problema es que no parece soportar este tipo de tags.
    El error que muestra es el siguiente.
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.jsp.runtime.OracleJspRuntime.releaseTagHandlers(Ljavax/servlet/jsp/PageContext;)V     at oracle.jsp._tag._tagMeta_tag.doTag(_tagMeta_tag.java:71)     at admin.applicationproperties._jspService(_applicationproperties.java:56)     [SRC:/admin/applicationproperties.jsp:10]     at com.orionserver[Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.0.0) ].http.OrionHttpJspPage.service(OrionHttpJspPage.java:59)     at oracle.jsp.runtimev2.JspPageTable.service(JspPageTable.java:416)     at oracle.jsp.runtimev2.JspServlet.internalService(JspServlet.java:478)     at oracle.jsp.runtimev2.JspServlet.service(JspServlet.java:401)     at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:856)     at com.evermind[Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.0.0) ].server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.invoke(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:719)     at com.evermind[Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.0.0) ].server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.forwardInternal(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:376)     at com.evermind[Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.0.0) ].server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.unprivileged_forward(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:270)     at com.evermind[Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.0.0) ].server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.access$100(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:42)     at com.evermind[Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.0.0) ].server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher$2.oc4jRun(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:204)     at oracle.oc4j.security.OC4JSecurity.doPrivileged(OC4JSecurity.java:283)     at com.evermind[Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.0.0) ].server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.forward(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:209)     at com.gtsCol.bonPen.servlets.ApplicationPropertiesServlet.doGet(ApplicationPropertiesServlet.java:51)     at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:743)     at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:856)     at com.evermind[Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.0.0) ].server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.invoke(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:719)     at com.evermind[Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.0.0) ].server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.forwardInternal(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:376)     at com.evermind[Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.0.0) ].server.http.HttpRequestHandler.doProcessRequest(HttpRequestHandler.java:870)     at com.evermind[Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.0.0) ].server.http.HttpRequestHandler.processRequest(HttpRequestHandler.java:451)     at com.evermind[Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.0.0) ].server.http.AJPRequestHandler.run(AJPRequestHandler.java:299)     at com.evermind[Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.0.0) ].server.http.AJPRequestHandler.run(AJPRequestHandler.java:187)     at oracle.oc4j.network.ServerSocketReadHandler$SafeRunnable.run(ServerSocketReadHandler.java:260)     at com.evermind[Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.0.0) ].util.ReleasableResourcePooledExecutor$MyWorker.run(ReleasableResourcePooledExecutor.java:303)     at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:595)
