  • JWS gives 'failed to parse certificate' error for VALID code sign cert

    Hi,
For my application, After downloading jar files from web server, JWS (1.2.0_02) gives a Security Warning asking user to trust the Signer.
However, after clicking Start, it gives another Security Warning which says this:
Warning: Failed to verify authenticity of this certificate because there was an error parsing the certificate. No assertions can be made of the origin or validity of the code. It is highly recommended not to install and run this code.
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
Sign App jar files with a VALID code signing certificate from Thawte or Verisign (don't use DST or RSA or any other CA as JWS supports only Versign/Thawte root CA entries by default).
Download the app using JNLP, and you will see this warning.
    EXPECTED -
It should not give the second security warning. First one is fine as user has to trust the signer.
There are no logs anywhere to find out what error it encountered parsing the certificate.
The certificate as such is valid, it was verified with keytool, openSSL and various other tools.

    Hello,
I had the same problem. Here are some additional things to check:
    - every jar in your app MUST be signed by ONE and ONLY ONE certificate.
    - every jar which is presigned should be checked on its own. I had a bad bcprov.jar which nearly drove me nuts. Maybe there are more such 'presigned' jars around.
    One recipe aside:
Try halfing down the jars in your jnlp file further and further, until it runs again, then you'll probably find the jar which causes this. I would bet a specific jar.
There's another Bug already known which makes JWS fail on checking the certs on jars with classes which have national characters (even Inner ones!). So you might be checking that, too.
    Hope that helps...

  • Valid code signing identity not found

    hi guys,
I have my mac working perfectly with my device using my dev cert (for development purposes not the distribution) and provisioning profile. I can install my apps. But if i'm using another mac, it can't find the valid code signing identity, when I'm installing the same cert and provisioning profile. What should I do to make it install in different machines? is that possible? Please help and tell me what to do. Thank you.

  • Where to put Validation Code?

Up until now, Im still having second-thoughts of where to put validation code when setting attributes of an entity.
Right now I have created lots of custom validators --(implement JbovalidatorInterface) that calls stored procedures to validate the value entered. But sometimes, i just use a ViewObject and query it on the setterAttribute method of the Entity and just manually throw a JboException of the value is invalid based on some business rule.
Question is, what are the best practices where to put validation codes? do we have to be strict that we always put all validations on Validators or are we free to just throw JboExceptions anywhere on the BC classes' code.
    regards,
    Anton

    1. The reason I have a custom validator and I don't normally use the built in declarative validators is that the error message generated when the validation fails is fixed, only one message. I decided to have create a custom validator is that I need to test a one attribute for many cases in each case should produce a distinct error message. So if I use the built in validators, I would have to create lots of built in validators for that single attribute only. (and i have lots of entities and lots of attributes that needs business rule validation). So, I decided to create a custom validator, that calls the stored procedure, the stored procedure takes care of all test cases, for that attribute only, and I can return a dynamic error message depending on the test case that failed. What do you think about the approach?
It's a little extra work to create a reusable validator class that will only be used once, but whether you do it that way or encapsulate the call in a helper class that your one-off method validator code delegates too, it seems similar to me. So it's more of a stylistic choice for you which you like better. Now, if your reusable validator were enable to encapsulate
    2. When I said anywhere; I meant inside the setterAttribute methods on the Entity and on the ViewRowImpl, orThe ViewImpl class or inside a method on an ApplicationModule?
Rather than writing code in the setAttribute, I recommend using attribute-level method validators. This makes it more clear where all your validation code lives.
I don't recommend performing validation in the view object level since entity objects are the component in the system that are tasked with handling validation. It would be easy to circumvent view level validation checks unless you make a lot of assumptions about exactly how your application is working.
    3. One other issue is that Validator methods are for validation purposes only. So its not a good idea to put in attribute setters to other attributes inside there. So you put the attribute setter logic outside of the validator usually inside the setAttribute() just after validator returns. But there are cases that is very straightfoward to put validation logic inside the setAttribute; meaning, inside the setAttribute() method, I test for a condition, if it fails, just throw a JboException, if its true, continue with the otherAttributes setter logic.
Whether attribute setting of other attributes is performed in a setter method or in an attribute-level method validator, either way you will need conditional logic to avoid going into a validation "loop" (which eventually will throw an exception if after 10 attempts the object is still not valid at posting time.

  • Convert an integer value that was created with the Excel DATEVALUE formula to a valid date?

    Hello everyone,
How can I convert an integer value that was created with the Excel DATEVALUE formula to a valid date in SSIS?
    Is this even possible?
    For example:
=DATEVALUE("8/22/2008") will format the cell to display 39682.
Reading the column as a string to get the int value (39682) - how can I turn this into a valid date using SSIS and then importing the real date to sql server?
    Thank you!

You can use Script component for this and convert your integer values to Date. An example here is following:
    CultureInfo provider = CultureInfo.InvariantCulture;
    string dateString = "08082010";
    string format = "MMddyyyy";
    DateTime result = DateTime.ParseExact(dateString, format, provider);

  • ADF Mobile: Code Signing Error Workaround

    Hi, everyone:
If you are doing ADF Mobile development, and you need to deploy the application to an iOS device, you would need to compile/deploy the app with iOS App Certificates and Provisioning Profile. This means you would need to "Deploy to Package" or "Deploy to iTunes" during deployment, and configure JDeveloper with the proper certificates/profiles. In some instances (exact combination is still not clear), deploy and signing the application to generate the ipa file may fail with similar error message at the end of the deployment log:
[01:04:45 PM] Deployment failed due to one or more errors returned by '/usr/bin/xcrun'. The following is a summary of the returned error(s): Command-line execution failed (Return code: 1) error: /usr/bin/codesign force preserve-metadata=identifier,entitlements,resource-rules sign iPhone Distribution: Oracle Corporation resource-rules=/var/folders/x7/21sjrpx13qj9tq20z14s3j_w0000gn/T/tkROhP11qU/Payload/HelloWorld.app/ResourceRules.plist --entitlements /var/folders/x7/21sjrpx13qj9tq20z14s3j_w0000gn/T/tkROhP11qU/entitlements_plistEINPBkIG /var/folders/x7/21sjrpx13qj9tq20z14s3j_w0000gn/T/tkROhP11qU/Payload/HelloWorld.app failed with error 1. This issue is a known issue and is not related to ADF Mobile. The workaround is discussed in this article:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7425840/that-codesign-returned-1-object-ifile-format-invalid-or-unsuitable-problem-aga
This article refers to the old location of Xcode, so you would need to adjust the paths accordingly. The path for Xcode 4.3 and above would be like:
    /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents//Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/usr/bin/PackageApplication to this script file.
To modify it, you probably can’t use TextEdit. I end up opening a terminal session, changed the file permission, and used vi to update it.
This fixed the issue I was having.
Hope this is helpful - please drop a reply if you encountered the same issue.
    Thanks,

What do you mean by "the "-sign" parameter values look dubious (besides your name :-P), how can it interpret those spaces?"
The sign parameter that i'm using is from the KeyChain app, so i'm assuming in the preferences where it asks for the Certificate, that its asking for the certificate name in KeyChain? When trying to escape the spaces in the Preferences menu, it complains that the certificate names do not match.. Or am i meant to be using another parameter here..?

    Hi
since several days I am getting a warning message from my OS X server telling me that the Certificate for code signing will expire soon

I looked under Certificates in Server app but this certificate does not appear. It's visible only in Key Chain under System and I suppose it is one which was created automaticely when I set up the server running under Mountain Lion. How can I renew this certificate ? Thanks for help

  • Code sign...revoking certificate... problem

    Hi,
I am having a breake down. I had the folowing problem:
Code Sign error: The identity 'iPhone Developer' doesn't match any valid, non-expired certificate/private key pair in your keychains
So i folowd the steps to solve this problem:
    1) Open up Keychain Access app within /Applications/Utilities and click "All Items" under the Category sidebar. Type "iPhone" into the top-right search bar.
If you are replacing your Developer Certificate, delete your "iPhone Developer: <your_name>" Certificate by right-clicking and choosing "Delete"; if you have multiple "iPhone Developer: <your_name>" certificates, delete them all.
If you are replacing your Distribution Certificate, delete your "iPhone Distribution: <your_name>" Certificate by right-clicking and choosing "Delete"; if you have multiple "iPhone Distribution: <your_name>" certificates, delete them all.
    2) Clean out your profile library according to the steps in section: Keep Your Profile Library Clean.
    3) Log into the iOS Provisioning Portal. Click the Certificates sidebar. Click the DEVELOPMENT tab if you are replacing your Developer Certificate, and pick the the DISTRIBUTION tab if you are replacing your Distribution Certificate. Click Revoke in the Action column.
    4) Perform the steps in section Provisioning Profile Refresh. Xcode will prompt to create the new certificates; choose "Submit Request" to allow Xcode to create the certificates.
    After step 4:
    I folowd this steps:
"To invoke Provisioning Profile Refresh, open Xcode's "Window" menu > Organizer > Devices tab > "Provisioning Profile" sidebar under Library and click the Refresh button. The first time refresh is pressed, a prompt appears requesting your team member credentials. It is important to answer positively when asked to create your signing certificates if they are needed. To do that, click "Submit Request" when you are prompted and Xcode will create, download and install the certificate(s)."
I had no button "Refresh" so i clickt "add device to Profsioning Portal" and get a device with this muber already exists. When i login to Portal, i dont see my developer Certificate>Development anymore. Before revoke i downloaded the certificate!!!.
How do i get it back? How do i solve this problem?

Would it be possible for Adobe to release a 11.0.11 patch that has this issue fixed?

    Back up all data.
Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them.
From the application's menu bar, select
    File ▹ Restore Standard Fonts...
You'll be prompted to confirm, and then to enter your administrator login password.
Start up in safe mode to rebuild the font caches. Restart as usual and test.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.
Also note that if you deactivate or remove any built-in fonts, for instance by using a third-party font manager, the system may become unstable.

  • Code signing on mac

I have been working on a utility to sign applications on mac. I am doing so by running the codesign command with appropriate arguments. Just that I'm executing this command by wrapping it up in a simple java application.
This utility however seamleslly works on a 10.6 mac and fails to do so on 10.7/10.8 versions. I have not been able to get to the depth of this scenario.
Does code-signing depend on mac versions? Are there different ways in which mac handles signing?

    Why?
Can you even submit apps with 10.6 or 10.7 anymore? When it comes to worrying about backwards compatibility, test the application, forget about the tools. Run the tools only on 10.8.2 and test them on 10.8.3.

  • TCCD: Unable to verify code signing identity. What does is it mean?

    Hi,
I can't recall if I encountered these issue earlier but today when I opened console I noticed  these messages popping up while launching  iWork apps simultaneously. It's the old problems that plugged me even before I did clean reinstall of my OS: when launching these apps I don't see windows opened or see only some of them. Just dock indicators. I have to hit the icons again to invoke the windows.
    Here's the full entry:
tccd: unable to verify code signing identity of com.apple.iWork.pages
tccd: unable to verify code signing identity of com.apple.iWork.numbers
tccd: unable to verify the code signing identity of com.apple.iWork.keynote
Any ideas what is it all about?
Also, this issue often accompanied by the following entries:
com.apple.IconServicesAgent[226]: main Failed to composit image for binding VariantBinding [0x803] flags: 0x8 binding: FileInfoBinding [0x703] - extension: numbers, UTI: com.apple.iwork.numbers.numbers, fileType: ????.
com.apple.IconServicesAgent[226]: Icon filename entry missing from bundle info dictionary for bundle at URL: file:///System/Library/Frameworks/AppKit.framework/Versions/C/XPCServices/com.a pple.appkit.xpc.openAndSavePanelService.xpc

I often run secure empty trash if it's of any value to mention.
