I tried to install arduino in my desktop x86_64 in order to test your points, and that's what I came up with.
Arduino loads fine without cdc-acm and ftdi_sio. I don't know whether they are needed afterwards though.
+1 to link to arduino package in AUR. I'm on it.
I don't know about the Two Wired interface problem you describe. If that happens only on rare occasions and is not a universal problem, I say we move that to Troubleshooting section.
+1 about the removal of manual editing of preferences.txt. First time I installed arduino, I followed the wiki by the book so I don't really know which parts are redundant.

Also I faced a problem with java. It might be a rare occasion but it would be ok if we added this to troubleshooting.

Anyway, I solved it following this guy's instructions.
Now, regarding the gcc-avr-4.6.1-1 that causes compilation errors, we have two solutions.
Either use this to patch arduino-headers.
Or install gcc-avr-svn which is confirmed to work.
I tested gcc-avr-svn but the same error occurs unfortunately... I applied the patch and compilation works without issue with latest gcc-avr/svn.
Could you try the svn solution to check if the problem came back so that we report it?

Hey folks, how you doing? My name is Chris, 26 from Glasgow. I was a very keen gamer at a young age, heavily into my Sega mega Drive and Super Nintendo, i then didnt play much until Sega Dreamcast where I became obsessed with the likes of Shenmue, Jet Set Radio, Skies of Arcadia, i then followed up with a Playstation 2 where I played Final Fantasy 10, Tomb Raider, Reisdent Evil, I also had a Nintendo Gamecube and liked the platformers like Super Mario Sunshine, Zelda, Sonic, Super Monkey Ball, I then drifted off gaming for some reason, mainly lifestyle was more interested in going out being a student etc. I have been hooked back in as I got a Playstation 3 for Christmas, very late I know 7 years oops oh well Im hoping to get a good 2/3 years off this as I have such a back catalouge to play with and PS4 probs wont get going for a year or so and I wont pay launch prices. I have an ecletic taste but I prefer action/adventure, rpgs, platformers a little kiddish I know but its a lot of fun, I prefer more problem solving games but do like instant fix racing games. My PS3 collection (games i got for xmas) is Uncharted 3 (my fave, completed it already but will go back to get Trophys, will be checking out the other 2, love a good story) Final Fantasy 13 i think? Only played an hour of that but might do some of that tonight. Sonic Generations which is what I would say I play when I dont want something too hard, Gran Turismo which is really fun but I know nothing about cars so I only find it semi interesting, Resident Evil 6 which I have played an hour or so off, its still to grip me, I was a huge fan of Code veronica on Dreamcast and Res 4 on Gamecube but this isnt as good for me...yet. And the Tomb Raider trilogy which I love, but I still prefer the original games by Core Design. So please add me folks as I have no online friends, i will be getting more into the online RPG thing in the near future, people have recommended Skyrim to me if you can think of any I would like please give me a shout. I consider myself to be a good gamer, competitive but perhaps a little rusty as i have been out the scene a while. get adding parsonageflat5 bye for now

...at least for me. i know that one should not make claims that this or that distro is the best os. my past 2,5 years have been a constant distro hopping. i've tried tons of distros, the only one that comes close to arch is gentoo, but my thinkpad is not that powerful (866mhz/256 mb ram) to wait for software to compile.
if there wasn't arch, i'd probably buy a mac. this is my third time with arch, but i don't think i'm going anywhere.
so please keep up the good work, i wish that the archlinux project goes on as long as possible (forever? )

Arch needs a little more polishing(pacman errors on upgrading) and stop its "let's put things in thousands of different repos(AUR unsupported/community, TURs, current, extra, testing, unstable and never integrate OFFICIALLY things waited for months". (Yes I'm exaggerating)
For example, azureus is waiting to be in the official repos, at least in community...
What I also do not understand, is why devs have not yet built a structure so that devs can massively join the distro...
Apart from that, sure it is one of the most impressive distro I've seen so far, next only to Ubuntu.
I'm now trying(and really like) Sarge and I'm waiting for a Arch 1.0 release !!!

Is it possible to rsync the official databases?

It seems unnecessary that every time the database is updated, all of the database files get overwritten with new ones from the tarball. Aside from unnecessary IO, doesn't it increase the overall bandwidth cost for the servers? Even uncompressed, I would expect the amount of data that would need to be transferred per average sync interval to be less than the entire database.
Is there any way to implement an rsync-based system like ABS uses to sync the ABS tree? Is there any glaringly obvious reason why this is a bad idea (tbh I haven't given it very much thought).
If not, is there any other way to access the official databases in uncompressed format? (ftp/http/svn/etc)

I ended up using the compressed db.tar.gz files to do what I wanted (for rebase).

Interpretation of the use of threads with Sessions in the JMS Specification

Hello,
I’ve been interacting with two JMS Providers which do a different interpretation of the JMS Specification with the use of different threads for accessing to a session and session’s related objects.
The question is:
When a client is consuming messages asynchronously, is it possible to access session’s related objects from a thread different to the one dedicated to the asynchronous consumption, on (thread of control)?
- Never?
- Yes, but the client should provide explicit synchronization.?
Our execution scenario is:
1.- Messages are consumed asynchronously from a dedicated thread.
2.- From other thread, messages consumed are acknowledged.
In the JMS specification there is, at least, two parts where this issue is treated:
1.- The first one (4.4.1 - page 60):
+“There are no restrictions on the number of threads that can use a Session object or those it creates. The restriction is that the resources of a Session should not be used concurrently by multiple threads. It is up to the user to insure that this concurrency restriction is met. The simplest way to do this is to use one thread. In the case of asynchronous delivery, use one thread for setup in stopped mode and then start asynchronous delivery. In more complex cases the user must provide explicit synchronization.”+
This extract, makes me think that it is possible the access from different threads, but If I do that, I should provide explicit synchronization.
2.- The second one (4.4.6 – page 62,63)
+"Once a connection has been started, any session with a registered message listener(s) is dedicated to the thread of control that delivers messages to it. It is erroneous for client code to use this session or any of its constituent objects from another thread of control. The only exception to this is the use of the session or connection close method"?+
This extract, could be interpreted as that the concurrent access is never allowed in the described situation.

I think the key words are in 4.4.6 (and also the javadoc for Session): "Once a connection has been started, any session with a registered message listener(s) is dedicated to the thread of control that delivers messages to it".
My interpretation of this is that you when you register a message listener and call connection.start(), the thread which delivers messages to the listener should be thought of as "using the resources of the session" (as mentioned in 4.4.1) continuously until the connection is stopped (or until the session or connection is closed). it doesn't matter whether the session is executing onMessage() or not.
Given this, both 4.4.1 and 4.4.6 say the same thing: that once you have registered and started a message listener, the only thing you can do to the session from another thread is to close it.
I agree the spec could be clearer. In particular the words "In more complex cases the user must provide explicit synchronization" in 4.4.6 should be clarified to state what this actually means rather than give a hint.
Please note that work has just started on updating the JMS specification, so now is a great time to report areas of the JMS spec which would benefit from clarification. If you'd like this to be considered for clarification, please report it in the official JSR 343 issue tracker at http://jms-spec.java.net

The log says it was one on the other and not a Leopard Buddy as there SIP port is listed as port 5061.

Not Running on the Event Dispatch thread, but UI still freezes

The environment: I am currently working on an application that requires some heavy lifting in response to user input on a UI. To do this I am using a version of SwingWorker that was backported from java 1.6 to java 1.5 in conjunction with a slew of custom threads.
The problem: I am currently running into an issue where I am not operating on the Event Dispatch thread (checked by doing a javax.swing.SwingUtilities.isEventDispatchThread()) but the UI is still freezing during this section. The operation involves a loop with about 2000 iterations and contains several file accesses. I have thought about how to make a new thread to perform the same operation, but I do not see how it would be any different since as it is I am not on the EDT. The call is being made from doInBackground and specifically the piece that is slowing things down is the File Accesses (2 for every iteration of the loop). At this point I am not sure how to go about resolving the issue. Any one have any suggestions?

This isn't an issue. Notice the screen prior to the one that shows usage has an iCloud section and a Manage Storage button. For this button to activate ios needs to download a few kb from icloud. Switching back to this screen forces ios to download those few kb.

How many times can Windows 7 be syspreped, what is the official Answer?

Hey everyone, can somebody out there give me the straight answer on this? What is the official number windows 7 can be syspreped? I am looking to build my reference images, but every time I do this I have to 150+ updates each time. Can
I get way with just updating the reference image every time? I have heard there is a Max number of times you can do this before you have to rebuild.
We are running WIndows 7 Enterprise with KMS.
Also will this apply to 8.1?

Sysprep limitations are due to the windows activation process.
There is no limit to the number of times that the Sysprep command can run on a computer. However, the clock for Windows Product Activation begins its countdown the first time Windows starts. You can use the sysprep /generalize command to reset Windows Product
Activation a maximum of three times. After the third time that you run the sysprep /generalize command, the clock can no longer be reset.
Assuming you are using a KMS: We recommend that KMS clients use the sysprep /generalize command where the value of the SkipRearm setting is equal to 1. After capturing this image, use the sysprep /generalize command, where the value of the SkipRearm setting
is equal to 0.

Is the Memory Suite thread safe?

Hi all,
Is the memory suite thread safe (at least when used from the Exporter context)?
I ask because I have many threads getting and freeing memory and I've found that I get back null sometimes. This, I suspect, is the problem that's all the talk in the user forum with CS6 crashing with CUDA enabled. I'm starting to suspect that there is a memory management problem when there is also a lot of memory allocation and freeing going on by the CUDA driver. It seems that the faster the nVidia card the more likely it is to crash. That would suggest the CUDA driver (ie the code that manages the scheduling of the CUDA kernels) is in some way coupled to the memory use by Adobe or by Windows alloc|free too.
I replaced the memory functions with _aligned_malloc|free and it seems far more reliable. Maybe it's because the OS malloc|free are thread safe or maybe it's because it's pulling from a different pool of memory (vs the Memory Suite's pool or the CUDA pool)

I am not hitting the upper memory bounds - I have several customers that have 10's of Gb free.
There is no error return code from the ->NewPtr() call.

A NULL pointer is how you detect a problem.
Note that changing the size of the ->ReserveMemory() doesn't seem to make any difference as to whether you'll get a memory ptr or NULL back.
btw my NewPtr size is either
     W x H x sizeof(PrPixelFormat_YUVA4444_32f)
     W x H x sizeof(PrPixelFormat_YUVA4444_8u)
and happens concurrently on #cpu's threads (eg 16 to 32 instances at once is pretty common).
The more processing power that the nVidia card has seems to make it fall over faster.
eg I don't see it at all on a GTS 250 but do on a GTX 480, Quadro 4000 & 5000 and GTX 660
I think there is a threading issue and an issue with the Memory Suite's pool and how it interacts with the CUDA memory pool. - note that CUDA sets RESERVED (aka locked) memory which can easily cause a fragmenting problem if you're not using the OS memory handler.

How to find out the number of threads created under java vm at runtime

our application seems to have hit the max number of threads that can be created under vm and the vm will just hang after that. that behavior seems to be consistent from an article that I read earlier.
I wonder any way that java app can find out the number of threads currently created under vm?

If you are not starting an extra thread group you can use the Thread.activeCount method. But this willnot return all the threads, as there are some jvm threads, i.e. garbage collector. Also if you are running on a Unix type operating system then you can send a signal to the jvm to give you a thread dump, i think the signal is sighup.
If the application is hanging i would of thought that you have a deadlock situation rather then the JVM not being able to create new threads, roughly how many threads should be running ??

New to forum sorry.
I have a BB Z10 and whenever I entered my vehicle the in-car bluetooth would connect/pair to the phone and the music which was great and had no problems with listening to music and making phone calls.
But recently with the 10.1 update it's all gone wrong the phone does not respond anymore to making calls, but the music still plays and I can still remote control the music via the steering wheel. however there is no call audio the call starts and it shows it being connected but no audio from the in car bluetooth.
Now I did some CSI investigations into the matter and I have narrowed it down to anything previous to the 10.1 update works fine.
I backed up the phone via BB link and then rolled back the updates and I found that 10.0.09.2372 works just fine with the in-car bluetooth with making calls and playing music I literally just tested this. I then installed the leaked 10.1.0.1880 hoping it was fixed but no improvement over the official 10.1 it still does not play call audio.
I have now reverted back to the official 10.1 and restored phone backup and then once again tried as before with all the pairing one has patience for, it just will not work in my car. I desperately need my Z10 to work in my car!
Is this issue going to be addressed very soon??? I am not the only one with this problem. Help anyone...
I would also like it that the music doesn’t start automatically as I have deezer and would like that to be an option to play that music instead.

I came to the Sony Service Center in Makassar, precisely on Jl. Shop Pengayomann A5 / 05 (0411) 442340.
operator initially said only two weeks to work on my camera. but this week has been more dau even want to go in a month tomorrow, dated July 9, no news from the service center. and I kept the call to the office service. as well as assorted reasons. there are no spare parts or technical constraints, and the last one I call to his office, he said the factory spare part is damaged. imported directly from Singapore. I think, ko new spare part it can be damaged before using that? how the quality of this Sony spare part? ugly? not good? why?
