i always hear that there is no competitor to oracle because of it's powerful database ,
but i do not know what is meant where we say (database) ,
is it (sql) or (pl\sql) or .. or .. or what ? where the power resides ?

thanks in advanceThe power resides in communication. If you think applications are just one person sitting and working on their pc, you don't get it at all.
The value of a company lies in its data, whether the data is in people's heads or on a database. If it goes on a database, many people can share it. If it is just in people's heads, they need to use it somehow, an inefficient manual operation. An application allows a business to improve productivity for its users.
So imagine some guy comes to your door and tries to sell you a magazine subscription. How do you know he isn't going to just take your money and run away? You must assume he has a business, and that business has to keep track of how much money salespeople take in, tell the magazines about the subscription, give the magazines some of the money, pay for business licenses and taxes. So one guy could do all that with a checkbook and some paper forms. Would it save him anything to do it on a pc? It's a toss-up.
Now, let's find out the guy is actually part of a team selling magazines over your whole neighborhood. Not only does the team leader have to do the above, he has to do it for everybody. It becomes important to have procedures to keep people from going to homes that have already been covered - or maybe try again with a cute girl on the ones that said no. Could you do this on one pc? Yeah, probably, and it might make more sense than one guy with one pc. Does everyone need a PC? Maybe, maybe not - if the PC happens to be a phone and they text each other useful information like they just saw someone getting home on the next block where the other person is. Or they kept the list of marks and door-slammers from the previous year for a sorted list of prospects.
Now let's scale up - thousands of teams all over the world selling magazine subscriptions. Now we start seeing some economy of scale. Beyond that, now we have an infrastructure, we can start using computers to send out junk mail, spam, and even directed advertising. You may already be a wiener! Get rid of all those salespeople, you don't need to pay them, a few telemarketers entering orders can do the work of many people walking around, much more productive. And now you can use social networking to direct people to your computer and order magazines because you are so cool. And, you can sell the lists of suckers who buy magazines, or even just lookie-loos, to other companies. And now you can set up a web store and get rid of the pesky telemarketers. The database has all the product information, vendors and accounting necessary to run the business.
Then you get all the people's and other companies money for little incremental cost. You don't have to take people's money and run away, you can take people's money and sit there and take more. You can even not do any of this but create a business plan that says how you are going to do it and seek investors to believe the marketing of Oracle.
That's the power of Oracle.

it depends on your definition of a "good ABAPer".
In my opinion there are 2 types of ABAPer:
1) The "functional" ABAPer
These guys can extend, add, maintain and develop code/functions combined with a huge module know-how for the business needs, but they use a database just as a data store without knowing the "power" and "possibilities" of it.
2) The "technical" ABAPer
These guys can extend, add, maintain and develop code/functions with less module know-how. So the functional development would take much more time than by a "functional" one. The written code is high-performance and is designed to handle the amount data smoothly regarding to performance, memory usage, etc.
In my ABAP times (round about 9 years ago .. oh man i am getting old), i was one of the "functional ABAPer" and used the database just as a data store.
Today i think you should have one "functional" ABAPer and one experienced dba with ABAP (and DBSL) know-how in your team to get the best result. It is nearly impossible to be up-to-date on oracle database level for a ABAPer, because it changes so fast (optimizer behavior, new features, etc.).
I listen to discussions of ABAPers who think they can tune SQL code with their "old database" know-how. (a classic one is still the order of tables in a sql statement to get a "good" execution plan - if these guys would know that the RULE based optimizer isn't in the game anymore)

Precision of the POWER function

I found something strange with the POWER function.
In SQLPLUS (or SQL Developer)

These results should be equal respectively to 3 and 2? SQRT function returns the correct result... Is it a bug or did I miss something in my maths course?? ;o)

I had an Intel-iMac fried by lightening. UPS, surge protectors but it happened as I was reaching to unplug. Cold now. Could it just be the power supply? Can I replace that myself?

This is the full question since I couldn't get it all in the box.
I have some complex questions regarding an iMac, a Time-Machine backup, and iTunes on an iPod.
I live about halfway up an extinct volcano about 12 miles north of San Jose Costa Rica. Some months ago, we had a thunderstorm and as I reached to unplug my computers lightening struck about 50 meters from my house. I had an iMac with a 3-Tb external backup drive, a PC laptop and a laser printer on the same power strip. There was a definite surge and the light brighten and then power was lost for a few minutes.
When power was restored, the PC and the laser printer seemed to work fine but the iMac was cold.
First questions: Is is possible that the power supply was fried and not other essential parts? Would it be worthwhile to replace the power supply? Can I, with limited experience and tools do it or need I take it to a technician? My concern is that if the hard-drive is good, there is personal information on it that I don't want to risk.
Next question: Do I need to replace the hard-drive before taking it for service? How hard is that, can I do it? I have seen videos of the drive replacement on-line.
Those are my iMac questions, now the questions about backup restoration.
If there is a saving grace with this it is that the Time-Machine backup seems fine although I have only accessed the data through Finder. I replaced the iMac with a Macbook Air with significantly less mass storage and I can't just move files to the Macbook. My problem is that I have an iTunes library of some 10,000 songs on the backup and until recently on a 160 Gb iPod which was old and it crashed. I have replaced the iPod but have not tried to restore the iTunes library to it because of my confusion about how to do that. Can anyone tell me how I might do that or give me any insight into the process?

Quite possible, but working on iMacs is not easy, & PSU might be prohibitive.
Hopefully the Drive might have info on it, but even pulling that out can be a chore.
If you don't know the model, find the Serial# & use it on one of these sites, but don't post the Serial# here...

Try starting Aperture with the command and option keys held down. You'll get 3 options.
Try each, starting at the top, in order, checking after each to see if it fixes the issue.

Does a Laptop Warranty Cover the Power Cord?

Hi, I bought a HP Envy Touchsmart 15 and it is still covered by warranty. However, I cannot find any support help online such as the support chat which I find very odd since I just used it about a month ago when my battery died! Where did all the support go?
Anyways, when I plug in my laptop, the LED by the power port does not come on, and my laptop will not charge or turn on at all. My battery is dead, but I know it works becasue it is less than a month old. Since my laptop will not run on AC power even with the battery removed, I feel the power cord is the problem.
I would really like to know if my warranty covers the power cord, and if so how do I contact HP, since there is absolutley no information when I go to "Contact Us" besides the consumer forums.

Hmm. The problem still may be the RAM - Apple buys the RAM it puts in its machines from third-party vendors (usually Hynix) so it could be a RAM problem.
There are a couple of things that you can do yourself before taking your machine into an Apple Store or an AASP... download and run an application named Rember that will run a RAM test for you - let it run for a couple of hours or even overnight. If it turns out that your RAM is faulty, Rember will let you know. If it is faulty, then you have a couple of options - replace the RAM yourself or (particularly if you're under warranty still) take the machine to an Apple Store or AASP and have them replace the RAM.
If Rember finds no fault with the RAM, then you'll need to take it into an Apple Store/AASP and get a free diagnosis on the machine. Three beeps do usually indicate faulty RAM, but if it tests good with Rember you likely have another problem - it could be something as simple as the RAM, somehow, not seated correctly or signs of another hardware problem.
Run Rember first... call back with results.

Oracle 11i is internet based and run with java platform where we can see the applets downloading alongwith oracle forms and it refreshes all the jar files in oracle default directory.
Oracle 11 is not intergrated with Java its an Oracle standalone platform.

This is a major problem with Lollipop, but yo said it started 2 months ago. Several people have fixed problem by removing FaceBook And Face book messenger and then re loading the apps again. You might want to clear your cache before reloading. Not sure this is your problem, but worth a try. Good Luck

My guess would also be a failling connection between your logicboard and your GPU. See 2011 MacBook Pro and Discrete Graphics Card
For most users it starts with some random crashes and freezes like you describe it. And then it just gets worse and worse. There are still no "good" solutions, sadly. This is a hardware problem from the production.

My Macbook Pro (Early 2011) DVI HDMI out does not work with TV when the power cable is connected. If get the blue screen and then can use the macbook but nothing is displayed on the TV. If i go into display I can see that there are two screens but nothing displayed on the TV. If i take the power cable out at this point the TV shows the second desktop as expected. If i then reconnect the cable, the screen flickers, as though it is being affected by the power cable, and the screen goes blank on the TV. Only if i remove the DVI cable do i get the blue screen again. If i remove the power cable and reconnect it will do it every single time, so i cannot see it being a TV issue or a minor glitch.
I have had this working previously but at the minute it seems to not be playing ball....any thoughts

Mid 2011 Macbook Air - Yosemite keyboard and trackpad stopped working, the only button that worked was the power button, only one USB port works.

I have a Mid 2011 Macbook Air.
Upgraded to Yosemite last week.
Three days ago I was using my Macbook Air for the first time since upgrading to Yosemite. I had been using my Macbook Air for approximately 30 minutes, I was using safari and the keyboard and trackpad stopped working (would not respond). The only button that worked was the power button.
I rebooted and they were still not working. I plugged in a USB mouse and external USB keyboard, only one USB port would work (the Left USB port if looking at the screen) so I had to swap between keyboard and mouse.
After logging in there is a bluetooth icon at the top of the screen with a sawtooth line through it. Bluetooth is unavailable and the bluetooth icon is missing from the system preferences menu.
If I run a hardware test by holding D (on USB keyboard) at startup it says that no problems are found and at the conclusion of the test the keyboard and trackpad start working again. When I log on the bluetooth is working again.
I shut down the Macbook Air and when I started it again the keyboard and trackpad and right side USB ports were all not working again. I logged in using the USB keyboard and mouse and the bluetooth not available sawtooth icon had returned.
I ran the hardware test again and at the conclusion of the test the trackpad and keyboard started working again.
I have tried deleting com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and com.apple.Bluetooth.plist.lockfile from /Library/Preferences/ and tried resetting SMC and Power Functions but this did not fix the issue. The only thing that seems to work is running a hardware test - obviously I don't want to do this every time I use the computer.
I do not believe any hardware is faulty/damaged - I think it has something to do with bluetooth/Yosemite.
I do not have the Macbook with me at the moment, if you have suggestions that I can try or additional checks/info you require please let me know and I can get back to you.

I have exactly the same problem, and I can't find any solution.
I can't even track down the root of the problem: the Bluetooth/Wifi module? The trackpad? The keyboard/top case? The logicboard?
I've tried all the usual: SMC/PRAM reset, clean install, kext cache clearing.
Any suggestion is greatly appreciated!
