The search engine ASK has been coming up ever since yesterday's update on Mozilla. I have made sure all the settings in my computer say Google and it still comes up. Did you do this purposely because it is really annoying?
My home page is igoogle and this works fine. But if I put a word in the search bar at the top (which says google) it immediately pulls up ASK.

I had this issue too after installing a couple of fileserve download programs.
It is pretty simple to stop firefox jumping to this earch engine.
In your firefox browser type
about:config
It will ask are you sure that you are going to be careful.
Select yes
In the filter bar type fileserve
For all of the results that it shows Right click and select reset
This will take your system back to normal -
I need to know how to delete the most recent version of Firefox. I JUST downloaded it tonight and my computer doesn't have that little edit bar to work with so I can download the proper Adobe player and my internet has been screwed up ever since I downloaded the new version of Firefox. I just want the old version of it back since I apparently can't download the Adobe stuff that is necessary to keep my computer safe from Hackers. It sure would have been nice to know there was an issue with the new Firefox Update BEFORE I uploaded it. I have Vista which is usually an issue with both Adobe and Firefox. I don't seem to be able to run much of Adobe at all on my computer because of the Vista.

I upgraded my iMac to Mountain Lion and it has been painfully slow ever since. Any ideas on what might be happening and how to fix it?
First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the slowdown.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long. -
I can't get my subscribed work calendar to show up on iCloud. I have deleted it and re-added it. I have made sure that the location is set to iCloud. Ideas?
Apple have not announced any such plans. It was the same during the whole MobileMe period from 2008 - 2012, so it doesn't seem to be a high priority issue for Apple.

In Windows 7, Firefox 8.0 does not ask to save passwords, and does not save, them, even though I checked the box to save passwords. I have confirmed that clearing history is not on and that I am not in Private Browsing. This is so frustrating, it almost makes me want to go back to Vista. I have looked at all the suggestions to fix the problem in "Help" and have followed the suggestions, and none of them help.
I have the TX2 1012NR and its can upgrade just fine! Here is a few recommendations "only if u have the HP Upgrade program disks"
If you have them you can install a clean copy and delete everything... Do not use the use me first disk included because it prompts you to install an older BIOS.... Just use the windows 7 upgrade disk and start the process. The clean install clears your entire drive but does not void your warranty! When you use the use me first disk after the install it actually loads everything else needed to get you up in running. The touchscreen driver and the HP Mediasmart programs will have to be downloaded from the HP support site. Once again its recommended that if there were any programs installed delete them do not try to update them! This causes issues and countless errors. Specifically with touchscreen drivers etc uninstall them before installing the ones from HP support. I found this was not the easy way to do it but the best way... I also recommend that when doing any sort of BIOS update that you remove your Battery and leave it connected to a power cord only! Last but not least if you really mess up and its under warranty... Send it to HP they will set it back up to factory defaults under Windows Vista with the more up to date BIOS installed. I hope my information helps! Sure you might loose some programs but in the end your computer runs faster and smoother because all the programs installed are made for Windows 7.... My son has an ipad 1 and goes on to you tube through his search engine (which is not safari as i have put a parental restriction search engine on there for him) and up until a few days ago was working fine. now when ever he goes into youtube the video selections come up but when he presses a video to watch it doesn't load (comes up with the loading icon). However i wanted to see if this was a youtube problem so I unrestricted his youtube app and tried to get into youtube that way and it worked and the videos loaded. Does anybody know why it wouldn't work through his search engine now after working through it for so long?
Any help would be great as i dont mind him going on youtube as long as innappropriate content is filtered (which is what his search engine did).

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

Hi there.. need some help with my iphone 4. I was using mapquest on a road trip yesterday, and the volume icon showed up on my screen, and now won't go away. The volume buttons work (increase/decrease volume), but the volume bar no longer corresponds to the increase/decrease in volume. I can't figure out how to make the volume icon go away. It is superimposed on other apps so it makes reading (e.g. mail, news) annoying since I have to read around the icon. Can someone give me some advice on what to do? Thanks!
Have you tried turning your phone off and back on?
Reset the phone hold the home button and the sleep button in until the phone turns off ignore the "slide to power off" message and keep holding the buttons, the phone will reboot -
Facetime not working
The updating in Pakistan may have caused removal of FaceTime. You can check by either:
Swipe down on the home screen so you get a search field at the top and keyboard, and type FaceTime and search...see if it finds it.
You can also go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout and if FaceTime is on the iPhone it will reappear. -
I keep getting this message when I try to update my apps and when trying to purchase new apps from the App Store. I checked my iTunes ID and it turns out that the country shown there is the one that I am actually living in. And it is the same as my billing address, but when I tried to update my apps again, I keep getting this message, 'you are not eligible for purchase of this item from the US store, please switch to the Malaysia store'. How do I solve this issue.
Besides ever since I updated my phone iOS it has started misbehaving, quite irritably at times. Dropped calls, slow typing, apps open very slowly, apps cannot be updated with prompts coming up like, this app cannot be updated now, please try again. I had to delete quite a few apps and reinstall them again. I had a trouble free experience with this phone till now, but is apple losing its magic.Thanks too all the people who responded. . . . Got it sorted though. Seems that Apple has issues with multiple apple id's.
Seems i had to somehow remember and use the original id i had when i first bought my 1st iPhone. . . .
Even after that it was extremely hard to get my apps back on my PC.

I have a 4s and my Facebook app has been in waiting mode since yesterday! It's frozen!!

Try terminating the Facebook App and restarting it.
If that does not work try restarting and/or resetting your iDevice.
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). -

When I open Safari, Finder or Google Chrome (my default browser) they do not displayanywhere on my iMac.
Tthey are minimized somewhere but how can to maximize them.
I can't say for sure this is related to Mavericks but the problem began shortly after dowloading Mavs.
Any suggested fix?Hope the following helps to make things clearer.
When I left click Safari or Google Chrome in my Dock, neither expands. When I then right click wither one in teh Dock, a dialog box pops up which gives me the option to close them, which implies that they are in fact open.
In other words, when I left click on Safari or Chrome in my Dock, nothing visibly changes on my Desktop. Indeed, neither Safari not Chrome are listed as the active window in the menu bar. If I do the same with Finder, at least Finder shows up as active in the menu bar but that's all. Finder itsef is not accessible and so I cannot use it.
On the other hand, I ahve no problem opening up Paralles 9 for Mac to access Windows/Explorer which is what I have done to send this note to teh Apple Communities Forum. Nor do I ahve a problem opening up any of my other programssuch as Office for Mac, etc.
I suspect this may be mavericks related but can't say for sure.

I am reinstalling W7 on my iMac and keep getting the black screen. I had installed W7 before when using Snow Leapord but W7 doesn't want to install with the latest drivers (v4.0). W7 was working with Lion but I had to uninstall W7 and now I cannot reinstall.
