The Search for the Perfect Flash Player.......Help..

Okay, here's my deal, I skateboard. Alot. Obviously, there's alot of hard landing and stuff of the sort. I need a player that can stand up to this. Here's what I need and what I'd like, if anyone can recommend something that matches this exactly, I would be greatly appreciati've.
Basically, my Micro is EXACTLY what I want, minus the fact that it's a HDD MP3 player (well, for skateboarding, that is, I did want an HDD MP3 player).
<B>. A dedicated removeable rechargeable battery (not AA/AAA)</B>
<I>When MP3 players have a dedicated, non-standard rechargeable battery, the MP3 player also doubles as the battery charger. I don't want to use rechargeable AA/AAA batteries, because unless the MP3 player has a built-in AA/AAA charger (I highly highly doubt any MP3 player charges standard batteries), I'd have to be lugging around either a bunch of batteries or a AA/AAA battery charger. And that kills the point of being portable.
I listen to my music ALL DAY, usually about 2 hours or more, so it's also good to be able to remove the rechargeable battery and replace it with another one. The only exception I would accept (regarding being removeable) is if the battery really does last all day. The ONLY player I've ever had that I could take with me ALL DAY and still have enough juice to come back the next day without charging it was my Rio Nitrus (.5Gb capacity). </I>
<B>2. Drag and Drop Transfer of Songs With NO Installation of Software</B>
<I>I love the fact that I can bring my Micro to school and just plug the cable into the computer and then go grab a few CD's from their library, rip them, then transfer them to my Micro, all without having to install the ZMME software.
I love being able to just plug it in and have Windows XP recognize it as an MTP player and allow me to browse the file structure and literally drag and drop songs directly to the music folder itself without messing around with a bunch of extra software.</I>
<B>3. A Display</B>
<I>Not all MP3 players have one. I would like to be able to have visual feedback about what song I am playing and whatnot. If it were not for this fact, I probably would have gotten an iPod Shuffle *gasp, gagging, choking*</I>
<B>4. Large Capacity (at least 52MB)</B>
<I>While Gb would be nice, I know that size comes with money, and anyways, I already have my high capacity music player (my Micro). All I need is a player that can hold at least 00 songs so I can listen to a small variety of songs that pump me to skateboard.</I>
<B><I>Things I Would Like, But Are Not Necessary</I></B>
<B>5. Ability To Create (and Save) OR Utilize Playlists</B>
<I>While it doesn't need to be able to actually create "on the fly" playlists like my Micro, I do want it to be able to somehow allow me to create a playlist, even if it's through the software that comes with it. When I skateboard, there are different songs I enjoy to hear that get me pumped for different things (getting started/warmed up, rolling around, jumping stairs, etc.). Sometimes I'm just not in the mood to hear every song on my player, and even if I am, sometimes I want to hear them in a specific order.</I>
<B>6. Moderately Small, But Not Too Small</B>
<I>Yes, there is such thing as being too small. I don't want something that looks like Barbie and Ken's boombox (at Wal-Mart they are selling this uber small MP3 player cube that is about the height of a quarter and the width of a quarter). I want it to be big enough that I have no problem with the controls, yet not too big. Anything bigger than the Micro is probably a tad too big, especially considering flash players don't have an HDD inside them, so they are relati'vely smaller in the first place.</I>
<B>7. Ability to Play WMA's In Addition to MP3's</B>
<I>I do have a converter that can convert between all audio formats, but the simple truth is that while it's not difficult at all, it can get annoying and time consuming. In addition, I have gotten alot of music from my friends. They all have WMP, so they simply rip it to their computer as WMA's. If the player supports this format, then I can simply transfer the song onto my player and start listening to it right away, instead of waiting to convert it when I got home to my computer.</I>
<B>8. A Built-In USB Port</B>
<I>The only two players that I have seen like this are the iPod Shuffle and the Zen Nano/Nano Plus. This is a great benefit to me in the fact that I don't need any cables or anything. Literally nothing else. Just the player itself. All I have to do is plug it in and that's it. No carrying around anything else if I want music from someone's computer. So easy and convenient....</I>
<B>9. Ability to Charge the Battery Through the USB Port of a Computer</B>
<I>This is a great feature (but to be honest, unnecessary for me) of my Micro. It's really convenient to be able to just plug it into any computer's USB port (with the correct FW and being locked) and charge it. Even though computers need outlets to operate (not including laptops), sometimes all of the outlets are being used, so the ability to charge itself through the USB port is awesome.</I>
In conclusion, I love my Micro, and I do indeed skateboard with it. I have taken a few rough falls with it, but it has never suffered from it. My headphones have popped out of the jack a few times, but never had a negati've consequence from it. I love it and it's the best to me. It's everything I want in an MP3 player, but that won't change the fact that it has a HDD inside of it. And if it falls on the ground, then I'm basically watching my $200 fall into the toilet. I need a flash player that is basically a Micro clone so it can withstand bumps and bruises and jostles (yes, I know it is not recommended to bump, bruise or jostle ANY electronic, including flash players, but they ARE advertised for sports ((yes, even though not extreme sports)), and are shown to withstand movement more than HDD MP3 players.
I actually find it fascinating with all of my skateboarding (especially with my jumping down stairs and ocassional hard falls) that my Micro has never skipped a beat. Ever. I'm obviously not condoning how I treat the poor baby, but I'm just so proud of the fact that I have the little girl (haha, yes, it's a girl).
There are two MP3 players that have come oh so close to my desperate requirements, but they are both missing just one vital thing that stops me from getting either one.
<B>Zen Nano/Nano Plus</B>
I would get this if it had a rechargeable battery (see # above) or if it could charge AAA batteries. If anyone knows if this this can recharge AAA batteries, please tell me, as I will go buy it right away.
<B>iPod Shuffle</B>
Yes, I know, it's horrible, the iPod Shuffle actually did come into my mind and I did seriously consider buying it. However, the crippling problem with the iPod Shuffle is that it has no screen. I want visual feedback about what I'm playing, not just to go by an audible cue or remembering what songs I have on it. And since it has one major crippling factor, the fact that it's battery is not removeable kills it. The only lifting factor of it is the fact that it can charge through the USB port.
Oh yeah, I don't want an iPod Nano, either, even though it fits most of the requirements. I just can't take the scratches.......hahaha.Message Edited by RMskater on 09-26-2005 0:00 PM

<EM>AA and AAA rechargeables are great. One can usually charge up to four at a time with most chargers, and chargers that take an hour or less are available(the 5 minute chargers require special batteries and put excessi've strain on the batteries). They are also very inexpensi've. Carrying a few spares is no big deal. I have small plastic cases that were specifically made to hold 2 AA or AAA batteries and other cases specifically designed for 4 of them. I would hate to have to swap out the player battery, swap in the spare then plug the player in just to charge spares one at a time. Proprietary batteries are expensi've, while AA or AAA nimh rechargeables are often around $0 or so for 4(for the higher capacity ones. Slightly lower capacity ones are even cheaper).</EM>

The search for a perfect design pattern
I am searching tip to upgrade a labview program used. I am looking for the best approach to make
my program more robust and scalable.Software and hardware.
Today the system consists of :
GPS, weather station, ultrasound wind sensor, echosounder  and a  webcamera,  all connected to a computer.
The computer OS is XP pro with Labview version 2009 installed. Except for the webcamera all peripherals have serial communication interface.
    The webcamera  interface is ethernet.
    Device                           Data type                 Interval                    Interface
GPS                                NMEA string                1 second                   Serial  rs232
Ultrasound wind sensor   NMEA string                1 second                   Serial rs232
Weather, temp, humid     NMEA string               35 seconds                 Serial rs232
Echosounder                  NMEA string               500ms-5 seconds       Serial rs232
                                                                          (depending of depth)
Webcamera                    Jpg                           Snapshot on demand  Ethernet
    The tasks to be solved
All the data have to be stored.
All the data have to be displayed in real time.
Weather history data must be buffered to be plotted in a graph (pop-up windows).
Absolute wind speed and direction have to be calculated.
Option to send navigation data attached to email at desired time intervals.
Image snapshot at desired time intervals.
The data wich streams into the serial ports are not synchronized and vary in intervals . Would it be a good idea to put all the serial peripherals into a serial device server. Is it possible to let the server place a event in my software, to  trigger reading of the data, from the the server.  Or how could that be done in other ways?
    The perfect design pattern
In version one of the software I use 4 parallel loops to read data at the serial ports, inside these loops the data was separated and outputted to a datasocket server.  I used datasocked read in other loops to present and store data. But it did not look good, and yes it was a mess, a really rat nest. I am looking for a better design pattern.
Could some kind of producer/ consumer pattern be the way to go?
    Comments and tips are wanted.

    Nice Project! Congratulations ;-)
I am not an expert for large applications. But your project looks nice and manageable. Here my straightforward ideas:
I would build a GUI, with menu bar, pop-up graph display thing.
THen low level tasks with each one handling a RS232 device and feeding queues or fireing notifications.
Maybe handle the snapshots in an event structure on the GUI blockdiagramm.
When GUI and producer tasks are running, close the gap with a middle layer which captures the data and actualizes GUI by reference. For instance the graph-thing-dialogue triggers a "flush queue" and displays the last 200 entries of the array of data.
I often run into issues when having defined too many userevent structures. I guess i am too stupid for that. Thats why i rather use queues (when i dont want to loose data) or notifiers (data is up-to-date). Nevertheless I like a "stop-all-tasks" user event...traditionally.
My team is actually developing a large application. We are using LabVIEW classes and objects.
    So have fun!

  • Searching for the number in the bigint value...

    HI!
Could anybody help me with the searching for the number in the bigint value. ex:
9567423742840 i need to get only the 2nd and 3rd number (56) from this value...
     ^^
and the same thing with symbols in the strings..
is there any special function in jsp available for that?
    thanks

try looking into the String class. There should be a substring or similar function that lets u get only a part of another string. You can convert the int into a string by doing something like new Integer(yourIntValue).toString() and then using that string for your substring function. There may be other ways to do it too, but this is the one I remember off the top of my head.
    Hope it helps

For some reason, the Flash Player on my MAC Pro stopped working, I've checked the install on my Adobe Flash Player and the are current, but the plug-ins don't seem to be working.  Can anyone help me get it working?

It happened w/ my MacPro 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon about 5 months ago; tried everything I could think of including multiple downloads of Flash, and hadn't seen any solutions here.  Adobe insisted many times that I download & update, but the newest vers. wouldn't work on the computer.
On checking Adobe/Flash was reading the computer as being an earlier model. So the new version of Flash wouldn't work w/ it.  Snow Leopard 10.6.8 was being read correctly but not the computer model (can't remember what MP model  it was reading).
Nothing worked. So -- a very old PC trick: If nothing else works get the hammer out and bludgeon it-- might work. So I reset everything by putting the Snow Leopard  install disk in, held down 'C' on restart and let it run.
Didn't take anything off the HDD first, just ran the install disk over everything.
The experts on the forums are probably cringing right now & I'd like very much for them to jump in. Love to know how my computer model was being mis-read. All I can say is, for the brave and desparate, it worked for me. Something to keep in mind.
It helped that I had a new computer on order & have 2 backups, one being mandatory. Might work only the one time but worth a check.
Good luck on working this one out.

  • Can't search for the term 'XML' in HTML-Help

    Hi!
    I work with RH8HTML (8.0.0.203), Windows Vista Business SP2 and IE 7.0.6002.18005.
I've created some topics which include the term XML. When I create the HTML-Help, then search for the term XML, I am shown a message that says Help cannot search for that term. But when I create Web-Help, Help can search for it!
I have checked the Stoplist and the List of ignored words, but XML is not listed.
Does anybody have an explanation for this strange behaviour?
Thanks for helping a help author!
    Kind regards,
    Kurt

    Hi all
I just tested this in RoboHelp 8 and it was fine on my own system. The message Peter saw seems to be the typical "Click cancel to stop the search." I attempted to capture it on my own PC but it flashes by so quickly that it eludes me.

  • After I downloaded the new version of Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.262, I can't seem to play games with my friends on Yahoo Messenger.

It could be a coincidence but when I upgraded to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.262 I can't seem to play any games on Yahoo Messenger with my friends. I know when I updated for some reason I had to try 3 times before it took it. It shows it's updated. I'm wondering if I have to un-install and re-install it. Also, I never use Internet Explorer 8 but when I went in there to check I found a plug in check link there and it showed over there that Adobe Flash Player needed updating but it was an older version and not the one Foxfire had me update too. Now I'm really confused if this is causing a problem. I have never had to check Internet Explorer for plug ins before. Have always just updated in Foxfire since that's what I use. The Adobe Flash Player seems to play videos okay so not really sure if that's the issue or not. My Java plug-ins have been fine and have been updated awhile ago, so I know it's not that. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Well, after hours of trying to figure it out I gave up and un-installed and re-installed that last verion of Adobe Flash Player and now it seems I can play games again in Messenger. Everything else had been fine just that. I can only figure it was because it was having a hard time updating the first time and took me 3 tries. So even though it said it was installed, apparently it wasn't done correctly.
Though when I couldn't figure out what was wrong at first I looked and checked to see all the things were enabled that were supposed to be and they were.
I even tried to go to the Adobe site and download the last version I had and couldn't find it. Kept coming up with the new version. Others said if you download a particular older version it may not have all the security features in it.
This really gets to be a bit much, especially when you're by yourself and have only a smattering of knowledge of technical things.
Thanks fore responding to my question.

  • Need help locating a wallet case for an Xperia T2 Ultra Smartphone that has a slot on the side for the mini-usb

I realize this board is for Xperia tablets, but I don't see a board for Xperia Smartphones.  I do hope someone here can help. I have a Sony Xperia T2 Ultra smartphone.  I love the phone, but I purchased a case for it not realizing that the case doesn't have a slot on the side for the mini-usb connector, which means that I have to charge the phone with the case open.
I called Sony accessories, and they don't seem to make a case with a slot on the side.  They have a very nice case, but again, it doesn't have the correct opening for the charger and you have to charge the phone with the case open.
I have also searched several websites for such a case with no luck.
Does anyone here know where I can find a wallet-style case for the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra with a magnetic closure (or some way of securing the case closed) that will actually allow me to charge the phone while the case is closed?  Please let me know.

This is the only "question" I could extract out of your confusing post:
"I want to know if it even can be done in Flash or would we need to use something else like PHP or Javascript?"
It can`t be done in Flash alone you need php.
With the experience level you already admitted to, I strongly advise to stay away from such a project, you will save you and our customer a lot of headaches, no offense.

please help with blocked plug ins i have down loaded the latest version of abode several time and am not getting anywhere this seems to be an ongoing problem when i get updates from them

When you download from the Adobe site, despite the button saying “install” — it really doesn't do anything but download the installer.
Quit the Safari browser. Next to the Trash icon on your Dock, is an icon that is an alias to your Downloads folder. Click this icon once. There will be a list of previous downloads that pops up. The file closest to the Dock is the Adobe Flash installer. Click this once to launch it. It will display like this:
Double-click the red flash folder. This produces the following dialog — you select Open.
You will receive a password challenge. Use your Mac OS login password. You next prompt will look like this. Choose the middle selection as I have shown:
The Adobe Flash Player will download and install via a blue progress bar. You will need to click a Finish button, and then Safari launches taking you to the Adobe site to verify Flash Player was installed.
In System Preferences, the bottom panel now has an Adobe Flash Player preference panel. It has an Advanced tab that enables you to check if there are newer releases of Adobe Flash available, and it wil also fetch the installer for you (usually). The System Preferences panel, and Safari must both be closed for Flash Player updates to succeed.
Eject the Adobe Flash Player installer from your Desktop.
Once Flash Player is installed, you may need to open Safari Preferences > Security, and check Internet plug-ins: Allow Plug-ins. Click the Manage Website Settings… button, and then select Adobe Flash Player in the left panel of the pop-up. You want Allow set When visiting other websites. Click Done, and close Safari Preferences.
