The # sign is part of db field names

I'm using an odbc to a database where the # sign is part of

solutions don't work. Anyone know of a workaround for a field name

  • Using Crystal XI R1 , Missing the time zone part of a field

    CA Forum: Formula
Hello, I have a field in Oracle 10g database which is like this 29-SEP-07 11.00.00 PM US/CENTRAL When i pull this field in Crystal i am getting like this 9/29/2007 11:00:00PM I am missing the Time Zone " US/CENTRAL " How to get this Part into Crystal XI R1? Any help would be appreciated !!

    CA Forum: Formula
    Hi,
The formula is as I stated above. Run it first, and see if the Time Zone is included in the result.
To create and run the formula, right click on Formulas > New Formula > Call it Time Zone > Insert the text above replacing with your date field > Drag the formula to the Page or Report Header > F5 > Yes.
Basically, the idea behind the ToText function is to extract the exact value from your date field, hoping that CR will not truncate the Time Zone. If it does then it means that there is a compatibility problem between CR and 10g.

  • Can we display the field name vertically

    Hi BI Experts ,
Iam using Bex Analyzer to run reports.

2.i had tried using format cells in excel settings , but i have to make settings every time after running the report.
    3. i need this settings should be done before running the report and user can see the report such a way that field name should be displayed vertically.
Please suggest me is there any way to do this.
    Thanks

    Hello,
You can create a workbook, do the necessary format and turn off the format refresh in the Bex Tool bar property. You can turn off the same in Query Property.

  • How to programmatically retrieve the real field name from a view object ?

    Dear all,
when I map a business component (a database table) to a view, the fields are automatically converted by JDeveloper, for example, a field named 'user_id' in the oracle table definition, becomes 'userid' in the view.
The question: how can I retrieve the right table column name from within a backing bean ? Please explain also what should I bind and how; should I use an iterator ?
Another more: since we can change the label of a field on a view, how can then I get the mapping between the column name on the view and the column name on the table in the database ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sergio.

    Hi Timo,
    many thanks for your answer.
The rest of my question: you know we can drop a view from the DataControls onto a ADF page, with each field of the table having a label.
That label is initially set like the internal table field name, so for instance, if user_id is the real table field name, userid will be the (by JDeveloper) internal renamed table field name, and the label would be userid too.
If I then change the label text to, for example, "myUserid", the question is: how can I know which real table field does "myUserid" point to ?
In other words, when my form is submitted, I want to know which field name has been changed and prepare an update sql in a bean.
For this purpose I bind each view field to a validator function in the bean, and collect al the pairs "label_name + submitted value" in an hash table.
Now inorder to build up that update query, I need the mapping between the label_name ("myUserid") and the real table field name ("user_id"). The question: how to map the label to the real table field name ?
By the way, I'm using JDeveloper 11g rel. 2.
    Regards,
    Sergio.

  • Address Book field names changing for "imported" data

I'm migrating from a thousand year old Palm Pilot that has served me so well to an iPhone. So it's time to get my contacts into OSX Address Book.
I have tried moving the data a couple of ways - exporting vCards and text files from the Palm Desktop software.
I did extensive editing of the text file in MS Excel to get the data into good order.
I have set up a template in the Address Book preferences to create fields that I want/need. Some are generic default field names, some have custom names. eg. I want to see a field called "Bus. Phone" not one called "work". Call me picky.
I get the same basic result no matter if I import the vCard file or a text file - The names of the fields just show up with very generic names in the imported data. I should note that creating a NEW record seems to use the field names that I have specified in the preferences.
Also, when importing the text file, Address Book asks me to assign the field names for certain fields (while it seems smart enough to know what labels to use for other fields all on it's own). However, the Field Names available in the drop down menu ARE NOT the ones that I have set up in the prefs. I seem limited to the generic default field names only.
Can anybody tell me how to get the field names to be what I want them to be for address data that is being imported like this?
Thanks for any suggestions - this has been driving me crazy as it would seem to me to be a pretty basic process. (I mean, the Address Book has this import functionality and custom field name functionality built in so it should work right?!)

No sooner do I ask than I notice that other people have asked the same question. In one of the reply's I saw mention of a product called "Abee".

  • Field names with now values behind are written to RDI-File?

    Dear experts,
I have a question concerning the RDI file format.
The specification of RDI file said the following about the structure of each RDI file
"field name" is placed in position                 :        104
"field length" indicator is placed in position :        235 - 237
"field value" is placed in position                 :        241     Specified by u2018field length indicatoru2019
In addition I got the information, that even if there is no field value for a specific field name. That the field name and also the length of the field will be displayed in the RDI file.
Now I generated an RDI file and I see that only these field (name, position, value) are displayed in RDI which have a value. Fields which contains no value are not displayed!
In conclusion, my first question would be if its correct that field names and also the lengths are everys time displayed in RDI even if there is no value for it?
If this is true,  the second question would be: Whatr could be the reason that the field names are not in the RDI file when there is no value for it.

  • Finding known Field name in R3 tables

    Hi,
How can one find the R3 table which holds a field name of which the name is known? In casu, I'm looking for the table which holds 'REMES' value (reorganisation value).
    Many thanks

    hi,
    what's the datasource name ?
get the datasource name that hold it,
then try help.sap.com, click 'search documentation',
option 'netweaver' and type in the datasource, and go, after the result come out, click 'datasource' in right side, and click the datasource name in left side,
if no luck, follow the steps in Roberto's excellent weblog

  • Field name issues when spawning from template

I am currently spawning a template multiple times in my document (with the field names being changed), but I am NOT spawning them at the end.  Rather, they all must get spawned to the same page.  This results in every corresponding field on every spawned page having the same prefix, e.g. P1.template.field.
How can I avoid this?  Also, is there any way to remove the prefix from just a few field names that I actually WANT to be the same?
    Thanks!

For your first question, can your provide a bit of background and describe what you're trying to accomplish?
To simplify this, pretend I have a single template.  My template has a textbox that the user fills.  When the user reaches the end, he must spawn a new page.  This page should appear immediately after the current one so he can continue typing.  However, if the user wants to go back and insert a page between two others, the document lets him do that.  The problem is that now the newly spawned page has the same field names as the page right after it because both were spawned at the same page number in the document.
For your last question, you can have more than one (hidden) template in a document, so you could set up another for just the fields that you want to be the same, and spawn it.
I would like these fields to appear on the same page as all the other fields... can you do that with multiple spawns?   For example, I have a text box on every spawned page with a title in it.  I'd like that text box to be identical on all the pages and reflect any changes to the title made on any of the pages.  If all the text boxes have different field names, I could write some script to change all the others, but I'd rather not have to add extra code if I can keep those few field names the same.

  • Oracle 9ir2 Max length of element/field name?

Does anyone know what the max length of a element/field name can be in Oracle 9ir2?
    thanks,
    -mcd

Thanks.. So, the max length is still 30.. what about this:
Is this also true for the length of element names defined in an XML schema for use by Oracle XML DB?
There are two ways in which XDB can absorb a schema -- one that causes the XMLTYPE to be stored in a CLOB, the other causes the XMLTYPE to be broken down into relational tables behind the scenes. The latter uses the element names for the table names, so I'm assuming it would be restricted by the 30-character column name limit (unless XDB has some way of truncating the column names but preserving the element names). But what about the case where the XMLTYPE is stored in a CLOB? In theory, there's nothing limiting the length of the element name.

  • Spaces within access db field name

I am trying to use data which was extracted to a excel file
then imported into a access database.
During the import access database used the first roll to be

When I try to access those field inside CF and i will get a
error message since the CF won's understand any field names with
    space inside the name.
Is there a work around? Since change the field name each time
will take lots of time beacuse the db will be exported every day.
    Thanks

lots of time because the db will be exported every day.
    Thanks
    Yup, two of 'em even.
The first is in the SQL language, you can alias the columns
    with the AS
command. This one is probably preferred by most developers.
SELECT ['Column With Spaces'] AS NoSpaces
    FROM aTable
Secondly you can use the array notation ability of ColdFusion
    to
reference variables with bad names. For queries that would be
    queryName[columnName][row].
    <cfoutput query="aBadQuery">
    #aBadQuery["Column With Spaces"][currentRow]#

  • Field name is not known Error in formula field...

    Hi,
    I have a report in CR11.5 r2 that I call from VB6.
The report works fine, until a I create this formula, Trim ({RSE.PatName}).
When I put this formula field in a section in the report, I have this error, "Field name is not known Error".
    Any idea?

Make sure you have SP 6:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100015859952009E/crxir2win_sp6.exe
Does the formula work in the designer?
Are you changing datasource at runtime? If so, can you change to that datasource in the designer and run the report there?
If you do not use the Trim function, does it work?
If you do not use the field in a formula abd place it in say, the detail section as a test, does the report work?
But remember that what ever the report is doing at runtime, must work in the designer 1st.

Only the RAS ( Report Application Server ) SDK includes API's to retrieve the version information. As you do not have full build of CR, you do not have the RAS SDK.
Just as an FYI. The APIs are:
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ClientDoc.ISCDReportClientDocument.MajorVersion
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ClientDoc.ISCDReportClientDocument.MinorVersion
A C# example code looks like this:
    MessageBox.Show("Report Version: " + (rptClientDoc.MajorVersion.ToString() + "." + rptClientDoc.MinorVersion.ToString()), "RAS", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Information);
    I htink your only way to tell is to take the 10.2 report, add it to your VS2008 project and save. On save, if it says something like;
"this report was crated ina precious version of CR"
you know it is not 10.5.
But I do not think that is your problem here...
