The solution to Xfi Crackling Scratchy Poppy sounds

possibly the sound cracklings poppy scratchy sounds are because of the DSPs overheating... could someone possibly epoxy a heatsink onto the card then tell us if the problems disappear?

What's a non-keyed IDE cable? I was planning on using a rounded/shielded IDE cable from the card to the I/O box but the cable layout didn't match the pins on the creative hardware.
http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ssage.id=33244
Edit: I googled non-keyed IDE Cables and unless I'm mistaking (which might be the case), non-keyed means that the connector doesn't have the "bump" on it and all pins are available. Got to find one.

  • XFi crackling sound solve

    Hi Guys,
I had the same crackling sounds with my card. I bought the Cinema edition and there comes a xtreme music with this package. When i installed the drivers, my system was dam slow. the sound was crap and i could forget to play a game. Then i switched to win XP 64 and downloaded the driver for this system, gess what? The crackling stopt, games run fast and the sound is just beautiful. So switched back to win XP 32 bit. with a my new clean system i downloaded the update. and then i installed ONLY the update and my xfi runs as good under win xp (32) as it has under 64 bit. Then you can install the additional software that comes with your cd. All is running fine. But NEVER install the driver that comes with the cd. I installed the old driver and my system again (after the update). My system was slow and i had the crap sound again.
The only thing you lose is the IR Remote Control, somehow that thing doesn't work. Because of that i installed the old driver again (as i mentioned above), the remote works then, but well you know slow system and crackling sound.
So if anybody knows what the file is, i must install for the remote to work, plz tell me.
PS: when this solution was already posted in the 04+ page thread regarding this issue, i apologise. But could anyone tell me a solution with the remote issue anyway

Here's a bit of info that crackle-sufferers might find useful. There's a bit of a story behind it, but stay with me, I think it will be worth your while.
I just tried installing an X-Fi Platinum, and had to give up. The card was simply not detected. No matter what, system would not detect, drivers would not install. I tried everything. After too many hours of effort and a long call to tech support, I gave up and tried to revert to my previous Audigy 2 card.
    Guess what? MASSIVE crackling!
I freaked. This system had been working perfectly for months. I tried all the solutions that have been posted... moving the card, pulling all other cards, etc. Finally, I scrubbed the system... ran the driver remover, deleted every line in the registry with "X-Fi," "Audigy" or "Creative" in it, deleted the Creative folder in Program Files, etc., etc. Of course, then the Audigy card wouldn't recognize! Much more swearing, fritzing... but bottom line, it finally installed.
    Guess what? NO MORE CRACKLE!
I knew the X-Fi software had not uninstalled fully, which was my first clue. Now, back on pure Audigy drivers (the latest version), all is well. What does that say to you? To me, it puts the blame for the crackling squarely on the X-Fi drivers. Oh, sure, there are probably other contributing factors (since not every system exhibits the problem), but if having even a remnant of those cursed X-Fi drivers installed is enough to produce hideous crackling on a previously faultless Audigy 2, what other conclusion can you draw?
The logic seems ironclad to me. The good news: Creative COULD fix the problem, if it's just in the drivers. That stuff about the cards not recognizing... now THAT'S just evil. This is 2006 (isn't it's). That kind of annoyance went out with Win95.

For the second time this week i don't get any sound from my iPad 2. Who has the solution for this problem?

Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

10.5.8 with latest garageband 5.1 with MBOX 1. On Nov 4.09 I did a software update, now i get no output volume or input volume to the computer itself. I get it from head phones from my mbox, but not to the computer. Before the software update It worked great. I've tried upgrading software through digidesign .com, but they dont seem to have one for what i need. any way to get my old garage band back? go from 5.1 to earlier? Or maybe it was the upgrade to 10.5.8. update? Can i go back in time lol?
    Any help would be appreciated
    BTW
Ive tried all the system sound prefs, and garage band drivers. Back and forth.

  • IRQ Sharing & XFI Crackl

    Hello
Well I've been trying a few things today. I have my XFI sharing an IRQ with my 2nd 7800 GTX card. I tried to get the IRQ to reset by pulling and clearing out drivers etc in hopes of getting new IRQs for them... No luck. The one thing I did find was when the other card wasn't in I had no problems. So then I reinstalled everything, and I found quake 4 was running great then I realized I didn't have the second card running in SLI. So once I enabled SLI and tried playing the slowdowns and crackling noice returned. From what I hear it seems the only way to fix IRQ sharing in this way is to reinstall windows to change one freaking setting (Great plan MS). Now before I do this long process of reinstalling and then having to reinstall all my software I'd like to know has anyone done this where they can manually configure their IRQs and had it work that had a simular problem? Again I only have problems when running my second card via SLI. While I wait on a response I'm going to check some older Nvidia drivers and see if an old set with SLI capability don't impact performance or create audio anomalies.

I'm not saying, NForce4 is a bad chipset, stability is great, the chipset is much more mature than its predecessors, NForce2/3. But I believe that it has something to do with the PCI Bus, because it works with one card, but in SLI mode it starts crackling, which leads me to the assumption, that all the badly handled traffic is causing the problems here. I even made another test, putting in a ADSL card in another PCI Slot, and downloaded something while playing Far Cry, this ended in even more crackling and distorted sound. Problems are smaller, when CMSS3d and the crystalizer is switched off. Definately it has nothing to do with interrupts, because my X-FI is sitting on PCI(7) alone.
But I might be wrong and it can be hopefully solved with a new creative driver, how knows, but honestly, I'm afraid, that there will be no solution.

  • Itunes + Gaming = choppy, scratchy, icky sound.

I consider myself a proud owner of an ipod. I chose the best I could get imo for my listening pleasure. Up untill the latest itunes version I was pretty satisfied with itunes. I could easily buy new music without having to leave the home. I even bought some music after I upgraded. Now i'm also hooked on one of the best known MMORPGs.... before I had no trouble playing music while gaming. Yet since this last version It seems impossible to do so.
I have a Soundblaster Audigy 2nx, (the usb thing with the 24bit sound). 5.1 surround. Before there was no trouble running my game and itunes together and still be able to listen to both the sounds. Now if I play my music in itunes without the game running, nothing happens. Even better: before I can even have the game running, switch to desktop open itunes play my music but !the moment! i switch to the game. The sounds gets choppy, scratchy, icky. And only the itunes part. The sounds within the game remains unaffected. I've tried all the solutions apple has handed to us users. 16-bit, 24-bit, stereo, 5.1, 44.1khz, 48khz, Lowering the sounds output of windows and raising the sounds output in itunes. ENABLING enhanced sound ( it was off to begin with on my comp), Turning on safe mode within quicktime prefs. All to no avail. Even tried looking for additional plugins which I had none...
So can somebody plz confirm that they have no troubles playing music (newly bought, and bought before) untill they switch to a game (that uses direct sound of course) and the trouble starts there?
I know apple is real handy in saying.... well u shouldn't use that game then.... NO, it worked before, I paid money for the songs I'm trying to play, I paid money for the ipod I have and that is the reason I use itunes. So plz fix it.
So another topic to add to the endless list of problems

I am having the same problem...yet the recorded music on the ipod sounds great. I just cant listen to any of the tunes while recording or just playing the cd. Its weird!
I have reset the Ipod what a job, plus gone in and made some speaker changes etc;, but nothing seems to work, and then some times it will play perfectly.
I have Windows Media, so naturally It opens when I put a cd in, so I have to turn it off on Mute and mute itunes and the it records great.
Help, I would like to listen to music while downloading and working on the computer..So does anyone out there have the same problem and a fix?
    Thank YOU

  • Crackling and popping sound when playing music and watching youtube videos

there is a crackling and popping sound when i watch videos on youtube or play music/videos  using vlc media player  and windows media player. recently it has gotten to a point where it happens when windows is starting up or even when the laptop is required to play a sound for example when i plug in a removeable hardware such as thumbdrives

    Hi @donnabail ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP 2000 Notebook and getting a buzzing or popping sound while playing music and watching Youtube videos. Try performing a hard reset.
When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.
You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook that might have caused this.
    You can try this
    1. Right click the Speaker icon in the bottom right corner.
    2. Click Playback Devices.
    3. Click Speakers.
    4. Click properties.
    5. Click the advanced tab on the Properties window.
    6. Change the Default Format drop-down to the highest quality.
    7. Apply the properties.
    8. Click OK to close the properties window.
What happens if you right click on the video while playing a video and take the check out of hardware acceleration. Shut the browser down and restart the notebook.
Have you checked for an update on the Active X.
Please let me know how this goes.
    Thanks.
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

When I used the video recording it did not record sound at all only a hissing/static sound, no voice. I wished for a software fix. I did a hard reset, nothing. I did every step in the link that i have been provided with (thank you), but I’m
still experiencing the same issue. My experience with Apple has been
excellent and this has been the first time I have experienced something
like this with an Apple product. I hope we can find a quick solution.
In order to get the iPhone 5 as soon as it launched (being a major fan of
Apple products!), I purchased my iPhone 5 from the UK through a friend of
    mine who lives there.
My question is: can I have the faulty device replaced within Saudi by one
of the official resellers here (we have 3: STC, Mobily and Zain)? I want to
avoid the disruption, complication and expense of sending it back to the
    UK.
Could you advise whether this is possible or not, and if not how should I
go about having the device replaced?
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

    Nice try! Take a hike.

  • I am recording with Logic Pro X, using my Yamaha XS8 keyboard as a Midi controller. I also have a Thunderbolt Display. Every time I play and release a note on the keyboard, the Thunderbolt Display speaker emits a doink sound. How do I get it to stop?

I am recording with Logic Pro X, using my Yamaha XS8 keyboard as a Midi controller. I also have a Thunderbolt Display. Every time I play and release a note on the keyboard, the Thunderbolt Display speaker emits a doink sound. What is causing it and how do I get it to stop? My sound is running through the Saffire Pro 40 Interface (Focusrite) into external speakers with powered amps.
Also, When I record I am hearing little pops in the system. I have checked all of my meters and they are not clipping. What is causing it and how do I get it to stop?

Thanks for the response, but I do not have a midi interface. I am using a midi to usb connector cable, thus bypassing the need for a Midi interface.
The Mac reads the USB cable as a midi device, but not the keyboard that I am trying to use as a controller. I have tried it with my korg sp 300 and with my Nord Electro 2.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks,

    Tristan...
This is what you have, correct?
    http://www.alesis.com/usbmidicable
    This from Alesis..
"The AudioLink Series USB cable receives and outputs MIDI signal thanks to its internal interface. The USB-MIDI Cable connects plug-and-play to your Mac or PC for an all-in-one USB-MIDI solution."
Notice, -internal interface-. What you have is a simple USB MIDI Interface. Most MIDI interfaces are USB.
My point is (was), MIDI OUT of the Korg goes to the connector marked MIDI IN on the Alesis, those new to MIDI often get this wrong.
