There was a problem connecting to the server "Neptune"; The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported. Please contact your system administrator...

I've seen this problem throughout the website, but nothing hits all my bases.
I'm running OS 10.8.4- just upgraded last month.
I work for a company that predominantly uses PC's. I'm in the Graphics Department.
Neptune is a Windows server but houses all our art files. Since the upgrade I have not been able to access the server either by name (which used to work) or by IP address.
I tried doing the suggested "terminal" fix but that did not work.
I must say, mail works. Internet works. Wi-fi works.
Any other suggestion?

Hi AppleRocks
Glad you've found a workaround however this is a common problem for people trying to connect via AFP as a registered user to a legacy server.
Whilst connecting via SMB and as a 'guest' should provide a temporary solution some people need to connect via AFP as a registered user to access all of their servers files successfully.
There are several sudo commands and discussions on this subject (Believe me I've read most of them ) but I have found this thread to be the simplest and most effective:
Connecting to legacy AFP services - Apple Support
Hope this helps future readers of this thread!

• There is no Sim card in the iPhone you are trying to activate...

I recently called AT&T to have a out of contract iPhone 3GS using the IMEI #. I followed the instructions to unlock the iPhone (backup and restore), and after restore it should then be factory unlocked. BUT that's not the case, I get a message saying, There is no sim card in the iPhone you are trying to activate, Please disconnect and insert a sim card. This happens with/without a sim card, AT&T or otherwise. I have done some research and basically came up with nothing except that the phone (running iOS 5.1.1) may now be unable to read sim cards, something about the IMEI #... I'm not real sure. Any help on this would be very apreciated. Is it fixable or am I doomed?

Was the device previously hacked to be unlocked? If it was, it may now be bricked.
If no SIM card works in the device and it was not previously hacked to be unlocked, that would indicate the SIM reader has failed.

Hi Tracy,
Have you changed something on your SharePoint 2007 environment recently before this issue occurred?
This issue may be related to Alternate Access Mappings settings like the following similar post, if you have configured AAM, you can check if this issue happened to some URLs, if it's the case, please add the problematic URLs as a Publish URLs for the default
zone for your web application, and also add these URLs as trusted locations, then check results again.
If above doesn't work, please enable ULS log on verbose level to get more useful log errors which time are corresponding to the errors occur.

I need help with this error, I try to sign in with my BB Curve 8520 Windows Live Messenger but it throws this message: "Server encountered unrecoverable error. Please contact your system administrator".
What could it be? I would appreciate any help.

Could be an error on the email server, over which you have no control.
For the time being, to see if this will fix itself, do a reboot: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot.

• IProcurement is not a valid responsibility for the current user. Please contact your System Administrator.

Hi All,
When I am trying to click on the 'iprocurement Home page' menu in the iprocurement responsibility getting the below error message in R12;
"iProcurement is not a valid responsibility for the current user. Please contact your System Administrator."
Can any one let me know how to resolve this?
Regards
Joseph

Hi Joseph,
I am assuming that the user actually has the iProcurement responsibility assigned to them. If so, try the following solution from note 1560400.1:
1) Logon with System Administrator responsibility
2) Navigate to Profile > System, click on User and enter the user name
3) Search for profile 'Applications Start Page'. Delete the value set at user level and save
4) Retry

• I can not open Firefox. Keep getting the error message "Failed to read the configuration file. Please contact your system administrator." What do I do?

I can not open Firefox. I keep getting the message "Failed to read the configuration file. Please contact your system administrator." I have tried uninstalling Firefox and then reinstalling it but without success. What should I do?

Which Fx version? When you uninstalled Fx, did you reboot computer before reinstall?
Also, check for / delete any leftover files in the Fx programs install folders, before reinstall?
Is your profile in the default location or custom location?
Have you tried creating a new, completely clean profile - to test (then make sure to select that profile to start Fx - from the Profile Manager)? (no addons or plugins installed).
Does the user acct (that Fx fails under) have access ("rights") to all locations - especially for Fx profiles location?

• I can't access any account information online. "The activity you are trying to perform is currently unavailable. Please try again later."

I've been able to log-in to my account, but have not been able to gain access to anything after I'm logged in. This has been going on for days and all I get is the same message "The activity you are trying to perform is currently unavailable. Please try again later." I've tried on 4 different PC's and my phone
The configurations, actions and results below:
Dell Inspiration 1545 Windows 7 Home Premium Explorer 10 cleared cache and history and rebooted
Toshiba Satellite T135 Windows 7 Home Premium Firefox 21 cleared cache and history and rebooted
Dell Dimension 4600 Windows XP SP 2 Explorer 9 cleared cache and history and rebooted
HP Pavilion H9-1215t Windows 7 Explorer 10 Professional cleared cache and history and rebooted
Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX Android 4.1.2
I got the same result on every system "The activity you are trying to perform is currently unavailable. Please try again later."
What's going on?
Thanks,

Hi Brian!
I'm here to help get your access to your online account. I thank you for already trying alternate computers. It looks like we may need to escalate this to our IT team. Something isn't right.
I'm going to Direct Message you. Please reply back in order for us to begin getting your access.

Can you please fix this problem, it's been active for over a month, I haven't been receiving text about my data usage and it's ridiculous because I just now found out I went over with absolutely NO warning and now I can't even log in to see if I had "send text messages about data" enabled.

Two simple solutions.
First I don't know what browser you are using so in what ever browser you use, go into internet options and clear the cache and cookies from the browser. Turn off the computer and then turn it back on and you should be able to use the site.
Second change the browser to a different one and try http://www.verizonwireless.com and you should have access once again. a nice browser I like is Firefox http://www.mozilla.org or http://www.firefox.com if you have that one download Google Chrome http://www.google.com then click the download Chrome button.
I suspect my first suggestion will fix your situation.
Good Luck

• What does 'The operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on your computer. Please contact your system administrator' mean?

I have a problem with my printer, and I'm trying to access the manual through the printer 'Properties' but it won't let me and I just get this message. I also get this message when I'm trying to upload updates to Adobe Acrobat.

hello drthompson, this doesn't sound like a problem that is related to firefox in particular. please see if running the fixit from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310049 helps or else please contact a support forum that is specialised in windows support, since this will beyond our capacity here...

• In Outlook, when clicking on any hyperlink, I am getting the message "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." How can I fix this?

Looking at other forums, this problem is related to the browser settings. As I use Firefox 3.5.11 I'm hoping this forum will work.

See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q310049 You receive an error message when you click a hyperlink in Outlook (default browser)

• When I try to launch Firefox I get the message, "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator". The only way I can launch the browser is to re-install it every time.

I cannot find any obvious restrictions on the computer. In the Control Panel under Set Program Access and Defaults, Enable Access to This Program is checked.

See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q310049 You receive an error message when you click a hyperlink in Outlook (default browser)

• The file browser is disabled for security reasons. Please contact your system administrator and check the CKFinder configuration file.

I have a tesco router and an external hard drive attached to it as a network drive (shared) for my macbook and MB-Air. Have no problems with my MB accessing it, but with MB-AIR it says - 'the version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported. pls contact your system administrator to resolve the problem'. MB-Air uses maverick downloaded yesterday - upgrade from mountain lion. MB uses snow leopard still, as i am quite used to it and am thinking of upgrade if mavericks work fine on air. Also have parallel on snow leopard but it is no longer supported according to mac website - if i upgrade am i going to lose my parallel and will have to buy a new one!!!

Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

• Problem "The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported."

Hi,
I connected a portable hard drive to my Airport Extreme. I can see the hard drive in Airport Utility / Disks but I'm getting an error when I try to connect this disk from Finder / Network / Airport Extreme. I googled and didn't find a solution.
How can I connect the portable disk from Yosemite?
There was a problem connecting to the server “Airport Extreme”.

• Fix for "The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported."

Like many of you, I experienced the following problem with Lion:
"The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported. Please contact your system administrator to resolve the problem."
I googled and found a workaround for that. It worked for me, maybe worth a try:
http://www.alexanderwilde.com/2011/04/os-x-lion-connection-error-with-afp-and-wo rkaround/
Koos

Same problem here, and the above fixes do not work. I'm running 10.7.5, and the defaults write commands do not appear to work: the plist reverts to its default state after each connection attempt.
I can confirm that the correct values are entered in the plist immediately after performing the defauts write commands (while logged in as root) described in those links, by opening the plist file in xcode. But regardless of rebooting or not, the file immediately reverts to its default values as soon as an afp connection is made. Extremely frustrating. The "defaults write" simply doesn't stick.
I desperately need to pull some data off of a Mac IIci that is running Shareway IP under System 7.5.5. This always worked seamlessly in 10.4 though 10.6: I really need a working solution for 10.7. Thanks for any help...
