These message boards are falling apart

I'm only seeing the original post in:
"Bass Guitar Flex Nightmare"
Yet there are Nine (9) replies.
Behavior has been erratic since the most recent maintenance.

Also is doing that thing where I get stuck in a Login Loop seemingly logged in at the forum root but showing up as logged out when I select a topic.
Here is a potential work-around for this problem.

Went to post a reply this morning and the forum has logged me in under another users I.D. and told me I didn't have permission to post in these forums. I had to Logout, close the browser,  and rebooted the computer just to be safe.

  • Message Board Tips

The message boards are the heart of the Toshiba Forums.  If you're comfortable using forums in general then feel free to just dive in without reading any further.  If you'd like a bit more of an overview of how to find and create messages then read on.
    Message Board Basics
Message boards are grouped in categories and named for the general topics they're intended to contain.  You can link directly into specific message boards, such as the 'Forum Guidelines & Tips' board that you entered to read this message, from the Forums.Toshiba.com homepage.
Once within a message board, you will see a list of "topics."  A topic is a new message or set of messages on the same subject.  (Experienced users of forum software may use the term "thread."  This is the same as a topic.
When a forum member creates a new message subject, that is the beginning of a new topic. As other forum members reply to that original message, and to each other's replies, the topic grows into a set of related messages which are all part of the same topic.
By default, the topic list of a message board is sorted by date, with the newest topics on top.  To read the messages in a topic, click a Subject.  When viewing the messages in a topic, the first or root message will be on top, with replies listed below by order of when they were posted.  By the way, the forum member who starts a new topic is sometimes referred to as the "OP" (original poster) of that topic.
    Searching
One way to think of the messages in these forums is as a searchable knowledgebase of information about Toshiba computers and consumer electronics. If you have a question, you may want to try searching the forums before asking a question by starting a new topic.  By searching the forums first, you may find what you're looking for without the need to compose a message and wait for a reply.
    Posting New Messages
If you can't find the information that you're looking for, or if you just want to share a tip, go into an appropriate Message Board for your topic and click 'New Message.'  When you create the Subject of your message, try to include key elements of your question or tip. Keep in mind that the subject is all that others will see when deciding if they can help you or if they are interested in reading your thread, so give some thought on how to best summarize your message.  Sometimes it's easier to define the subject after you've finished writing the main body of the message.
Perhaps the single most important bit of information which should be included in any request for help is the products model name/number (e.g. Portege R700-S1321.) For computer products the Part Number should also be reported (e.g. PT311U-01800U.)  Serial numbers are not needed and should not be posted in public messages.
For help identifying model numbers, part numbers, and serial numbers refer to the following image:
The message editor provides rich-text editing features for controlling font and formatting options, but it is generally recommended to just use default fonts and simple paragraph formatting. Overuse of formatting features can make it more difficult to read a message and may result in other forum members skipping over your message rather than reading and responding to it.
    Aim for Simplicity and Clarity
For every message posted in the forums there will be hundreds of other forum members and visitors who will search or browse through the message boards looking for the same information.  So when answering a question on a technical issue, try to explain your answer in straightforward language, avoiding technical jargon whenever possible, even if the question was phrased in a way that suggests a high level of expertise.  Using straightforward language will help to ensure that your message can be understood by everyone who may read it.
    Not only Questions and Answers
By the way, you don't need to ask or answer a question to participate in the forums.  Another way to join in the discussions is to share a tip with others.
If you're new to the Toshiba Forums, what better way to get familiar with the message boards than to introduce yourself to other forum members in the 'Introductions' message board?

  • Where are the message boards???

i've just joined...been here for half an hour now and this is the only place i can find to post a message!!!!
how do you get to the message boards to ask a question???

Hi, MarjorieRose, and welcome to the Community,
I will suggest that this text, which appears at the upper left corner of the Community's website page, be made more apparent - this is where all of the introductory "How-To's" are:
    Skype Community
Welcome to the Skype community. To get started please read our short welcome post. Thanks!
The blue type, short welcome post, is actually a hyperlink - here it is, again, in its usual format:
    http://community.skype.com/t5/News-and-announcements/Welcome-to-the-Skype-Community/ba-p/24#M3
All of those titles appearing in blue type are actually the message boards themselves.  Clicking on the title will take you to the lists of topics; if after typing in a few words in the search box, nothing appears quite like what you need assistance with, you can click on the green New Topic button.
    Regards,
    Elaine

  • How do  I set up a message board?

Hi, I'd like to add a message board to my site similar to
    this one...
    http://forums.livewire-records.com/list.php?f=1
I've never done one before, so does anyone know the easiest
way to do this? I don't know php so I don't want to have to work it
up from scratch. Is there some kind of "plug and play" way to put
    up a message board?

Well, there are arguments for each. phpBB tends to be the
most popular with arguably the largest community. However, it's
previous version was very susceptible to hacks because it was so
common although that was one of the areas they drastically improved
on by completely rewriting their script from the ground up for
version 3. I would say their Admin CP is one of the better looking
    ones.
Simple Machines has a fairly strong community as well. They
are in the process of going from version 1 to 2 right now which
marks some major improvements. This project is *not* open-source
even though it is free to download and use.
myBB I would say right now has the most to gain from a new
version. Their Admin CP is the worst of the 3 right now, although
the next version currently in beta does show a lot more promise for
this board. They are open-source like phpBB and the community is
    good.
So just to simplify what I stated. phpBB is the only one that
has completed their transition to the next version. Both SMF and
myBB are currently both transitioning to newer versions. All of
these have community based support. SMF is the only one of the
three that has paid services because they are the only project that
is not open-source. So they do have staff on hand if you choose to
pay for yearly support which is a plus for them. The rest expect
you to handle it on your own or ask community members for help.
My best suggestion to you since they are free is to download
and try them for yourself. They all have installers which make the
setup process fairly easy. And if they have a demo of the next
version which SMF does and myBB has a link to a demo (
    http://beta.mybbfans.com/mybb_140b/
). Just ignore waiting for the registration email even though it
says you will get one. Once you register you should be able to log
in and make yourself an admin to see it for yourself.

  • Message board that can be edited by the posted person - Is it possible?

    Hello,
We have a very old application at the portal which uses as a message board of the organization: People can advertise messages over there by categories, for example if they would like to rent an apartment, to sell sonmething ect. Of course each person is able to edit his/her own advertised messages.
We are considering rewriting this application but before we do I wanted to know if there is such an out-of-the-box module already inside the portal that gives this exact functionality (Perhaps using Collaboration)?
If yes, I will be happy to hear about ideas of how to implement such need using the portal built in tools.
    Thank you in advance,
    Roy

    Hi Roy,
You have the "Discussion forums" feature of Knowledge Management in Enterprise portal. It comes as a feature in KM.
You just need to create an iview for discussion forums. There are different iviews - Administrative view for discussion forums and End user view for Discussion Forums.
Apart from this you can create your own forms using XML builder under
Content Management - > Forms Builder
    Try this link below:
    <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/3a/4a0640d7b28f5ce10000000a155106/frameset.htm">XML Forms</a>

    Hope this helps.

  • Skype message board won't let me deselect notifica...

I'm getting spammed by this message board and i can't select the threads i don't want any updates from. Seems like some bug in Lithium..how can I fix this? Nothing happens when I select a thread.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi, UsedToBeMelkor,
These are the steps I used to navigate to the list of list of threads I am subscribed to, in order to un-mark those items as subscriptions:
At the upper right  corner of the Community website page, Settings -> Subscriptions & Notifications tab -> Notification Settings and also My Subscriptions, if the Notifications Settings are checked in.
So our team can follow up, what steps did you take?

  • Hinge Falling Apart

Yesterday my hinge started falling apart. This machine has never been dropped or over-extended before. I was told by the Apple Store today it must have been dropped and would not be covered under warranty. However (like many others I've seen claim the same thing, on the internet at least) my machine has never been dropped or mishandled, it sits on my desk. The majority of people also claim this problem has happened on the right side of their machine, as it has on mine, which leads me to believe this is a manufacturing issue.
I was asked to call Apple Care, buy when I did they said in essence "whatever the Apple Store said is what you will hear from us".
So I was told to call Customer Relations tomorrow. I just thought I should log my situation in here in case it can aid in bringing attention to this problem.
    Some pics of my machine

  • Add Message Board

    Hi Everyone,
I have a client that I am creating a website for and they
would like to add a message board option to their website. Does
anyone have any suggestions on a good one to use either free or of
minimal cost and easy to setup and use.
    Thanks for any guidance.
    Robert

    Not so free:
    -vBulletin
    www.vbulletin.com / www.vbulletin.org
    ~ $85 one year license
A great and powerful forum software app. It does charge so
depending on the complexity of your site you may or may not want
it. i use it for one of my sites and it works very smoothly and
    havent had any major problems
    Free:
    - phpBB
    www.phpbb.com
This one is totally free and open source. the benefit of this
one is the large community and number of addons you can put into
the forum. installing a mod is a bit more difficult than vBulletin
bit is still a powerful forum engine. I use this on my other sites
and have no real problems with it.
Both of those are fairly powerful forums. vBulletin will give
you better professional support where as phpBB has a much more
massive amount of people working on it because it is open source so
there are more mods for it. Both are relatively easy to install. if
it is going to be a small, non profit website i would go with
phpBB. there are a few other forums out there but these are the 2 i
use as they are basically the most useful and powerful forums
software that i know of and have used. although there are many more
    out there

  • Hp envy m6-1125dx hinges falling apart

I bought this m6-1125dx about two years ago and the hinges started falling apart a few weeks ago. First the right hinge and now the left hinge. It broke the plastic around the screen and now it's just being held by those wires. I was okay with it but it seems like the added stress has broken half the screen of the laptop. I take extremely good care of my stuff and it's unacceptable that a laptop would just start falling apart after two years. Apparently this is a very common problem and HP hasn't even done a recall.
    HP can you fix this?

  • Text messages ringtones are not working in the Storm Two

Device:  Storm Two running OS version 5.0.0.713 on the Verizon Wireless network.
Recently, I upgraded from a Storm One to a Storm Two because of a multitude of issues with the Storm One; not enough memory, constant lock-ups; dropped calls, etc.  On the Storm One I had customer ringtones for contacts; so when a contact calls me the phone will sound a specific ringtone for that contact; the same for text messages from that contact. Now that I have the Storm Two the text message tones for the contacts are not working. In fact, even when I select a ringtone for text messages for a contact the phone will ring the generic ringtone that comes with the phone. If I go into the sound profile and change the generic ringtone to one of my own and the contact sends me a text/sms message the phone will ring the ringtone that I selected in the profile that is being used at the time. This is not the way it worked on the Storm One.  On the Storm One; if I have a specific ringtone for the contact and that contact sends me a text message it will sound the text messages tone for that contact. These ringtones have worked for previous devices including my Treo and Palm devices. The ringtone files worked well in the previous Storm One.
So to make a long story short; I want to know why my text message ringtones are not working as designed/setup-up. If a contact calls me the phone will sound the ringtone for that contact; but if that same contact text me it will not ring the ringtone for the contact. This is annoying and I am at my wits end trying to find out why this is not working.

    Hi Jain....
Field separator is for separating the fields. That means it will effect every field in the node.
But end separator is not like that.It will apply at the end ofall fields of a node.It will effect node not a field.
according to ur scenario if u use data.endseparator 'nl',output will come like this
    2008/0701$101
    2008/0701$102
    2008/0701$103
    2008/0702$105
if u want new line for every field try to insert a separate node for second field. That means
    MT_DATATYPE:
    Data -
    1:UnBounded
    . .OrderDate----
    1:1
       <Data2>                   1:1
    . ....OrderNo -
    1:1
    now give data.endseparator  'nl'
                data2.endseparator 'nl'
    if possible try like this....
