Hello,
My name is Shahzad.
I am also facing the same kind of problem. Like "Network Adapter could not establish connection"
and i am using 'thin' type of driver.
My database is Oracle 8i on Unixware machine and i am on Win98 machine.
If i tries to connect to WinNT machine (which also has Oracle 8i) then it connnects successfully,
but on Unix machine i shows the error (as Described above).
Code is prety same as:
class JdbcTest1
public static void main (String args []) throws SQLException,ClassNotFoundException
Class.forName ("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
Connection conn=DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc:oracle:thin:@10.100.0.44:1521:v817","scott", "tiger");
Statement stmt = conn.createStatement ();
ResultSet rset = stmt.executeQuery ("select ename from emp");
while (rset.next ())
System.out.println (rset.getString (1));
Pls reply me asap on the following e-mail address: [email protected]
Thanx.

Error Code Definition for JDBC Thin driver
Would like to know where I can find the definition of error codes
for JDBC thin driver to Oracle 7 database. Right now, when I have
database errors, I get SQL execption with CODE=XXXXXX. Need to
know the definition of the error codes in order to decide whether
the application shall retry or quit or do something else. Thank
you in advance.
nullHi,
thin client session Language is controlled by java Locale.
Based on testing code, ORA- messages are localized after the connection is successfully established. ORA- messages returned in the middle of connecting are in instance language.
So, as far as I can say, you need to catch exceptions from DriverManager.getConnection(url, info); and translate them on your own.
Once the connection is successfully returned, ORA- message language is defined by java Locale.
Tests were performed on Oracle 10gR2 (both thin driver and DB). -

When trying to connect to a new 9i database using the JDBC thin driver, I received the following error:

I have no problem with my code connecting to an Oracle 8 database, just 9i.
I'm trying to debug in Visual Cafe (JDK 1.1.7) and have both the classes111.zip and the nls_charset11.zip in my CLASSPATH.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. ThanksIf you're using 8i 8.1.7.1 or 8i 8.1.7.0 thin JDBC drivers on NT, then you can get them to connect to 9i by applying the 8i 8.1.7.1 Patch available at:
http://technet.oracle.com/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/htdocs/solsoft.html
You might have to register/login first.
Basically, it's just a case of replacing a class already in your classes111.zip or classes12.zip with the class in the patch.
Took me a while to find this, but it worked first time after patching. Hope this helps. -

Oracle XML Parser has differents distributions for 8.1.5 and 8.1.6 databases, try the correct version, then runs the oraclexmlsqlload.csh from the lib directory of XSU distribution.

Oracle (JDBC) Thin Driver Ora-00600 Error
Hi,
I'm using Oracle9i JDeveloper and trying to access an Oracle 9.2.0.2 database using the oracle thin driver.
Sometimes I get the error message "SQLException: ORA-00600: internal error code" when I execute queries. When I change the query to select smaller fields, it seems okay.
Can someone help me out with this?
Thanks,

Please post your connection pool setting here. You might have missed some

For me, e.g. Oracle 7.3.4, the classpath should be:
export CLASSPATH = /oracle7.3.4/jdbc/lib/classes.zip:%CLASSPATH%
Noted that the JDBC classpath must be the first classpath element in
the export

Hi, We are using Weblogic 6.1. We are currently using JDBC Oracle Thin Driver (ClassName
: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver) that is built into Weblogic 6.1 (weblogic.jar).
Our database is Oracle 8.1.7.4. We want to upgrade to Oracle 9i (Oracle version
9.2.0.4). I would like to know the compatibility of this built-in Driver for Weblogic
6.1 with Oracle 9i (9.2.0.4) and can I continue to use the same JDBC driver. Also
we have plans to upgrade our Weblogics to 8.1 version. Can we continue to use
the same Oracle Thin driver that comes as part of WLS 8.1, for Oracle 9.2.0.4.
I need this reply ASAP. I appreciate any help in this regard.
Thanks, Venkatesan.Thank you very much for your reply.

Hi. The driver we shipped will still work with the later DBMS, but there
have been many improvements and fixes to Oracle's dirver since then,
so I highly recommend that you download Oracle's latest appropriate
thin driver, and make sure it gets into the -classpath argument that
the weblogic startup script creates for the server.
Every release of weblogic will tend to include the latest oracle
thin driver available at the time, so the 8.1 will contain a newer one
than
the 6.1.

CachedRowSet problem in Weblogic 6.1 and Oracle thin driver 9.0.1
Has anyone used the CachedRowSet class successfully? (this classes are
new and from the JDBC extension pack)
I am experiencing "Not in a transaction" errors when executing
cachedrowset.populate(resultset), even though I'm inside a correct
ut.begin and ut.commit transaction.
Note I don't have these problems when I don't use the CachedRowSet
classes.
If I remove the setFetchSize(50) line, then I receive the ORA-01002:
fetch out of sequence error, which is discussed in another post on
this newsgroup.
I don't have any of these problems at all, if I use the Oracle Thin
Driver directly (i.e. not using Weblogic 6.1).
-H
Example of code:
stmt = getConnection().createStatement();
stmt.setFetchSize(50);
stmt.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM ASSET");
rs = stmt.getResultSet();
crs = new CachedRowSet();
crs.populate(rs);Hi Arturo,
What kind of a problem do you have? Any stacktraces?

Hi! I have a problem with CLOB column in Oracle 8.1.7. My enviroment
is:
Windows 2000, BEA WLS 6.1 and Oracle 8.1.7. I'm trying to use
'classes12.zip' provided by Oracle. I added 'classes12.zip' to
CLASSPATH after than 'weblogic.jar' in my startup server script, but
it fails when trying to retrieve a CLOB data from database. Script
includes:
setCLASSPATH=.\classes12_01.zip;.;.\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;.\lib\weblogic.jar;
>
But this driver and the code runs sucessfully with the same database
and weblogic 5.1. I'm interesting in use this driver and this code
because i'm trying to migrate two applications from WLS 5.1 to WLS 6.1
I cannot find a solution.
Can everybody help me, please? It's urgent for me... -
Hi Everyone,
Please let me know whether the JDBC thin driver 10.1.0.3 Driver compatible with the oracle server 10G version 10.2.0.2.0? We are facing some issues with the compatibility.
The Errors we are getting is : StaleConnectionException while we are using the driver from the Websphere.
Please let us know..Very Urgent.
Thanks in Advance,
Samuel.

user637857Hi Legatti,
Thanks for taking time out and replying me.
We dont know the reason why that error is being caused. Because the error is caused on the production we are not able to make any trail and errors. If we are sure that the driver compatibility is causing the error then we can go ahead and download the latest driver. If the latest driver will solve the problem we have to convince the client that the error is caused due to the incompatible driver. So if you have any documents/information supporting that please help.
Thanks

Applet which uses the JDBC Thin driver
My applet is running from Internet Explorer(Windows NT 4.0) and uses the JDBC
Thin Driver to connect to database. The code complies with J2SDK1.4.0-beta3 and
JDBC 2.0. I am getting following error:java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
oracle/jdbc/driver/oracleDriver at applet.button_actionPerformed...
Can anybody help?
help urgently needed...
Best regards and thanks in advanceAFAIK the Oracle drivers still don't work with JDK 1.4, switch to 1.31 and they should be fine.

BLOB insert behavior with thin driver using standard JDBC2.0 and ORACLE-JDBC2.0API
We have a problem with a BLOB insert to an oracle 8.1.7 DB using Oracle 8.1.7 JDBC thin driver.We get socket read/write error after inserting 32k of data using the standard JDBC2.0 API but using the Oracle JDBC2.0API (using OracleResultSet) it goes fine. We have a requirement to use the standard JDBC2.0 so that our code works with multiple database vendors. Is there another way to get in the blob data with standard JDBC API & using thin driver...?
thanks,

I understand what you are saying...
that readers don't block writers in Oracle (the same is true in SQL Server 2000).
However, I don't see how my test case is working correctly with Oracle (the exact same code acting as I'm thinking it should with SQL Server, but I still think it is acting incorrectly with Oracle).
I have transaction A do this:
update <table> set <column2>=<value> where <column1>='1'
then I use Thread.sleep() to make that program hang around for a few minutes.
Meanwhile I sneak off and start another program which begins transaction B. I have transaction B do this:
select * from <table> where <column1>='1'
and the read works immediately (no blocking... just as you have said) however, transaction A is still sleeping, it has not called commit() or rollback() yet.
So what if transaction A were to call rollback(), the value read by transaction B would be incorrect wouldn't it ?
Both A and B use setAutoCommit(false) to start their transactions, and then call setTransactionIsolation(Connection.TRANSACTION_READ_COMMITTED).
Isn't that supposed to guarantee that a reader can only read what is committed ?
And if a row is in "flux"... in the process of having one or more values changed, then the database cannot say what the value will be ?
I can almost see what you are saying.
In letting the reader have what it wants without making it wait, I suppose it could be said that Oracle is holding true to the "only let committed data be read"
So if that's it, then what if I want the blocking ?
I want an entire row to be locked until whoever it in the middle of updating, adding, or removing it has finished.
Do you know if that can be done with Oracle ? And how ?
Thanks again for helping me.
