"This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPod" It's the charger that came in the box for my iPod 5 and after I updated to IOS 7 it no longer connects to my computer, but charges in the wall with no problem.

It still charges in the wall, but when it comes to putting songs or pictures on my iPod, it won't connect to iTunes or charge while plugged into my computer.

- Try another cable. iOS 7 made the iPod/computer more sensiteve to cable problems
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • My phone will not charge, it says This cable or accessory is not certified an may not work reliably with this phone

My phone will not charge it says this cable or accessory is not certified an may not work reliably with this phone? What do I do?

Is the cable the one that came with your Apple device? Is it a replacement cable that you purchased? If it is, did you purchase an Apple certified cable?

Your iPhone was "unofficially" unlocked by some means to work with a different carrier. Now that you have updated it has relocked to the original carrier. If you do not know who the original carrier was you will need to call AppleCare and give them the model and serial number of your iPhone. Then you will need to contact that carrier to see if they have a process to unlock the phone and if you qualify.

        Hello!
No Play Store, sounds like no fun! Let's get this fixed! I would recommend trying the store in safe mode first. If that doesn't work a hard reset would be the next step. Here are the steps for both:

  • My iPhone 4s updated to iOS 7 no longer appears in "My Computer" on my Windows 7 computer.  I've updated to iTunes 11.1.  Anyone else have this problem?

Additionally, I can see the phone just fine on an XP machine that does not have iTunes.

Nevermind...I'm an idiot.  If there are no photos in the Camera Roll, my iPhone 4s does not appear in Windows 7 as a camera, which makes sense.  I did have photos in Photo Stream and a separate album, so I was some what thrown for a loop.

  • Is it possible with Adobe Acrobat to create a PDF that has multiple usernames/passwors for read access and individualised watermarks or with any other adobe product?

    Hi,
We're looking for a solution where a PDF can be created and distributed to multiple people - each with their own username/password to open - and also when opened created a user based water mark on the document. Is this something that can be done inside Acrobat Pro or is there a higher end product that does this?
    Thanks!

If the list of people who and only who you want to be able to open this PDF is predefined, then you can use Certificate Encryption in Acrobat. For this method to work each of possible recipients of the encrypted PDF needs to procure a digital certificate with a private key enabled for encryption and send you the public key version of this certificate. Then you encrypt this PDF with public key certificates (there may be many of them) of all recipients you want to be able to open this PDF. Then you distribute this PDF to all recipients and each of them can then open this PDF with their private key certificates.
You can also create PDFs with Optional Content which contains different watermarks with the selector for a watermark based on user ID or some other identification of the user. I do not know, though how to create such Optional Content using just Acrobat Pro. You may need to write a plugin to Acrobat to do that.

  • Why does my phone keep popping up messages "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iphone" when there is no cable connected?

Why does my phone keep popping up messages "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iphone" when there is no cable connected? This has been happening since IOS7 was installed and has become worse with 7.1. I have reset the phone several times with no change. The phone charges properly & I have never used anything but an Apple Lightning cable.

I already cleaned the port with compressed air before submitting the problem. I since cleaned it with a toothpick and dug out some more lint. this seems to have just about fixed the problem since I have only had the error pop up 3 times since then and i was getting the error constantly before.

  • IPod Touch won't sync, false "this cable or accessory is not certified" and several other errors

Helping my dad long-distance with his iPod Touch 5th generation, running 8.1.1.
He's having several problems trying to sync the thing:
    1) "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with your iPod" error, even though he's using the cable that came with the device, when connecting to his Mac. (This happens with both certified Apple cables he owns.)
1.1) He's unable to take screenshots of this error, even though he can take screenshots of any other screen.
    2) Won't charge when connected to his Mac (does charge when connected to his 5w cube).
    3) Connecting to Mac dones't launch iTunes, but does launch iPhoto.
    4) Sometimes, even after launching iTunes manually, the iPod doesn't show up.
    5) We we can get the iPod and iTunes to talk to each other, he gets 7/8ths through syncing, then gets the error "Some of the videos in your iTunes Library, including the video IMG0925.jpg, were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod." — yes, the "videos" that won't "play" on his iPod are all JPEGs.
    6) When clicking [OK] to clear problem #5, it's always followed by "iTunes cannot back up the iPod (device name) because an error occurred." Even though it was 7/8ths done before the error occurred.
    7) Issue 5 and 6 occur when connected to the Mac over wifi too. (We've tried with wifi backup both off and on.)
    7) He's randomly prompted for his iCloud password at least 3-4 times a week. Entering it doesn't make this problem go away.
    8) Tried to update to 8.1.2 (hoping it would fix some of these issues), but after tapping [Agree] in the overlay screen, he's taken back to the T&C screen with [Decline] and [Agree] buttons at the bottom, and NOTHING happens.
So we he back up via any means, he can't upgrade, and we can't wipe and restore because he'll lose a month's worth of updates to calendar and address book.
I'm know my way around Mac and iOS, and I'm stumped. Anybody got anything?

    - Try another cable. The cable for 5G iPod (lightning connector) seems to be more prone to failure than the older cable.

  • IPHONE 6 This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably

I have the IPhone 6.  Bought it last Saturday,Just updated it to the newest 8.0.2 software Friday Sept 26th. No Problems until today, Monday Sept. 29th when Im getting this error .
It started this afternoon and, no i did not and do not have it plugged in. It was charged this morning and was at 57% battery this afternoon when the problem started.
Now I get this messege that keeps poping up over and over "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iphone"
It keeps popping up and i dont have ANYTHING plugged into it.
I called Verizon because thats who i bought it from who put me thru second line for help.
After a bunch of BS and telling me that they have had problems with chargers because of the amplified voltage and wrong plug being sent out  which sounds like bull to me because he said the new iphones have a different head on the plug, not the phone side but the end that has the usb connection and goes to the ac outlet, which dont make a lot of sense when you can also plug them into a usb port. I looked at different iphone plugs from the 4s, the 5 and the 6,and they all show the same input and output voltages and amps. Basically nothing that has to do with my problem i am having
Anyway at this point now they are saying something may have happened with the new software when i  download it last friday.
So now they had me backup my phone to itunes, and restore the iphone from itunes.
When you do this, itunes will automatically download the new version software, which seems to be taking a long time to download.
I will try to post results later to see if this works......

I am having the exact same problem you are, straight out of the box.  Got an iphone6+ this morning and five minutes after I turned it on, it started coming up with the same error as you.
The phone was on ios 8 (not 8.02).  I did the upgrade to 8.02 but it still comes up.  I'd be very surprised if this is a software problem. I didn't even get to charge it or plug anything in !! Started doing it straight away.
The error comes up even when I have NOTHING plugged it to the phone.
    I am very annoyed!!!
If possible could you please let us know what the Apple Tech people say.
    thx
    David

  • Reoccurring warning, literally every 20 seconds: "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone." I am only using Apple devices. How can I eliminate the warning?

Please help me eliminate this repeating warning message on my iPhone 5. It occurs several times a minute. I am only using Apple devices, so the warning is in error.  "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone."

The cable may be damaged. Try another cable.
Make sure it properly connected at both ends.

  • Since I downloaded the upgraded software, my charger that came with my phone says "this cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iphone"  It worked before but now it doesn't...I don't think I should have to buy a new one...

since I upgraded to the new operating system my charger no longer works...
It says"this cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone"

Try checking your cable socket/lightning cable for dirt, grime, pocket lint, etc. I could not find the solution to this issue myself and after much searching I found someone stating that cleaning this out helped them immensely.
After taking a wooden toothpick (making sure the phone was OFF first) and gently clearing out the edges and inside of the lightning socket this went away.) It is worth noting that I had a significant amount of dust or lint buildup along the edge rails which I think was causing the iphone to believe it was plugged into something when it was not.
Try it and see, ensure you are very careful and do not use any conductive tools to clean the area in question. Compressed air also does wonders here.

  • HT1476 upgraded my IPOD 5 to iOS 7.0.2 and will not charge battery. when plugged in gives message "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this IPOD".

Just Upgraded my IPOD 5 to iOS 7.0.2 and it will not charge the battery anymore.
When I plug it in, it now gives the message "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this IPOD".
Anyone else have this issue after they upgraded the iOS system?
    Thanks,

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source

  • After updating to ios 7.0.6 i keep getting an error message saying "this cable or accessory is not certified and will not work reliably with this iphone" every two minutes and its annoying

What is up with this error message after updating saying our cables are not reliable?

Thank you for this suggestion, but the message continues to display every couple of minutes. (e.g. "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone.)
Not only is it annoying and concerning...this is draining my battery, as the iPhone keeps waking up to display the message over and over. Like "MartinLegodi" above, I also have no cable or accessory plugged in and only use Apple cable and products when I do.
    It's a disconcerting mystery.

  • HT1476 This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone

This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone

This is an incredibly stupid move by Apple. Nobody could convince me that it's about security and safety...
I bought two Lightning to 30-pin Adapters to use my two 4s chargers with my 5s iPhone.
    Price on Amazon - 3$:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00IA95L2A/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8 &psc=1
Price on Apple for the same thing - 60$

This is just a piece of metal and plastic. It's ridiculous.
Apple, please remove this ridiculous software. I also have a car charger. Should I just throw them away because I paid a bunch of money for your new device? That's how you reward loyalty?!!

  • Error: "This cable or accessory is not certified..."

On both my ipad mini and also my iPhone 5s I have been happily using Belkin thunderbolt chargers (since I've lost the original apple ones) Recently I have received messages saying that "this cable or accessory is not certified and my not work properly" and my devices will no longer charge.  I am forced to charge both devices in my car (!) and now rarely have a full charge to get me thru the day.
This is clearly something that is a recent change within the software as it's never been a problem before, and now on two devices it's just recently a problem.
What's the story, apple?  I get that you want to keep the accessory profit in house but your prices are outrageous for stupid things like charge cables and it's making me think apple is getting very pricey overall.  Making me a disgruntled consumer.
In my home I have a mac book air, a Mac book pro, two iPhones and two i touches.  And my ipad mini which is slowly losing its charge and I might not use it at work today as a direct result.

Cables can also experience broken connections inside the sheathing and thus become poor or no connections from end to end, This happens from normal wear and tear of winding and unwinding as the sheath can  stretch but the cable inside cannot. Your accesories are however covered under your original 1 year manufacture warranty if they fail due to manufacturing defects, You simply need to take them to your local Store with your ipad and have them checked out.
