  • Isn't this Exception block redundant?

    DB Version: 10.2.0.4

    when no_data_found then
    RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR (-20002, 'No Such User');
    end;NO_DATA_FOUND occurs when SELECT query retuns NULL, not when the SELECT returns
    no rows selectedSince NVL is handling NULLs in the SELECT query, the above exception block is never going to be used. Right?

    No, it's just the opposite. NO_DATA_FOUND is raised when no rows are returned. It doesn't matter what's in that row: all NULLs is okay.
    Since NVL is handling NULLs in the SELECT query, the above exception block is never going to be used. Right?That's easy for you to test. Pass a value of p_userid that you know does not exist.
    The EXCEPTION block is redundant in the sense that Oracle will raise an error anyway. It would be NO_DATA_FOUND, not 'No Such User', but the line number in the error message would point to the SELECT statement, not the RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR statement.

  • File Download: I now this topic is redundent, however...

    I have searched for filedownload and there are many post in here about it. However, I couldn't find my answer.
    Does anybdy know how to precede the file that is going to be downloaded by a directory structure?
    In other words in the Save As dialog box I want to be able to display the correct directory it should be downloaded to and not have to make the user select a directory?
    Can this be done?
    Thanks!

    No, you can't, and generally speaking, it's not a good idea anyway. Users on Windows are going to have a different directory structure then Unix or Mac users. And if you say it has to go to C:\Document and Settings\... well, I can tell you I'd resent that as a user, cuz I don't put anything in My Documents or any of those directories on principle.

  • Firefox saves user preferences to prefs.js when exit it, is this redundant?

    I have a question regarding to why Firefox saves user preferences to prefs.js when exit it.
    My observation is that Firefox saves changes immediately to prefs.js when users modify preferences either through Option (Windows)/Preferences (Mac, Linux) menu or directly through about:config page. Therefore, the prefs.js file should always in sync with the browser.
    However, I notice that Firefox saves preferences to prefs.js in the end when I exit the browser. I am wondering if this feature is redundant since all preferences are in sync between prefs.js and browser? Or maybe some preferences are not saved immediately? If that is the case, how to identify those preferences that are not saved immediately?
    Thanks in advance!

    It is possible that there are situations where there are some prefs that need to be changed and where the two files differ.<br />
    This can happen if you use Clear Recent History and Firefox wasn't able to complete that task.<br />
    Another possibility is to restart Firefox to complete the installation of add-ons and there are probably more cases.

  • Redundant "about this mac" screen remains in Lion

    Hi everyone,
    I would very much appreciate your help with the folowing: I just did a clean install of Lion. When I clicked 'about this mac', located under the apple menu, I expected the new Lion version of it to appear. Instead, I get the old Snow Leopard version (top one in image). When i click on more info I get the new Lion screen, which is often mentioned in reviews as a cool feature (bottom one in image). As you can see both have the same info, having two screens seems overkill.
    -Is this happening in your version of Lion?
    -If yes: To Apple: the old version of this screen is redundant and looks outdated. Please get rid of it.
    -Where are these screens located in the system folders, and how could I fix this?

    - Same happens on my two Macs with Lion.
    - Tell Apple here http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
    - Sorry, no idea.

  • LR unbearably slow.  What's up with this?

    I recently bought and installed LR v1.1 and just upgraded to 1.2. However, it is so unbelievably slow that it is basically not useable. I have had it for about 3 weeks now, and have yet to even get to teh point where I can create a JPG, however the heck you do that in this crazy program. I have used just about every other mainstream RAW converted and database program, and LR is BY FAR the slowest. Before LR, I was using ACDSee Pro, which was perfect. RAW's would display almost instantly, and converting to JPG was extremely easy and fast. But LR is not. Not even close.
    I imported my photo collection, which is just under 29,000 pictures. It took hours to do this. What is this program doing? My database file is over 320 MB, and I have not even done anything yet! Plus, it created 29,000 subfolders, with a file in each. AGAIN, I have not done hardly any editing yet. Why is it creating all this overhead!?! The database folder size totals just over 1 GB now!
    Not only that, but when LR gets bogged down, I can see in Task Manager that LR is consuming 500MB to 700MB of RAM!!! What the heck is it doing this fore? What a dog of a program!
    I love the interface, but am seriously considering demanding a refund for such a poor implementation.
    I have never had this kind of problem before. CS2 and bridge run just fine. My machine is a P4-3GZ with 1GB Ram, and lots of HD space.

    > I imported my photo collection, which is just under 29,000 pictures. It took hours to do this. What is this program doing?
    >Importing, and probably creating previews.
    All I wanted it to do was add the folders that my pictures are in. This should take very little time as all it should need to do is learn the folder paths. The entire concept of a catalog of pictures seems overkill, since windows already has file management built it, which most other viewers/converters/databases use. Also I specifically told it not to create previews.
    > My database file is over 320 MB, and I have not even done anything yet!
    >Yeah you have - you've imported your images and all their associated metadata into a newly-created database.
    OK, I guess I can see how it would add up if it takes all the metadata from each image and adds them all to one file. At even 10kb per image, than is already 300MB worth of data.
    > Plus, it created 29,000 subfolders, with a file in each.
    >They're called previews.
    I never asked for previews of everything. RAWs have built-in jpg preview. That is all I need for most things. When I want a better preview I want to tell it that. Also, why create previews of JPG files? This is just redundant. A large percentage of my pictures are JPG. And yet it is still slow with these. They take as long, if not longer, to view in the loupe mode as RAW files.
    > Why is it creating all this overhead!?!
    >Because you asked it to (render standard previews on import).
    I never asked it to do this. I unchekced that option when I imported my folder structure.
    > Not only that, but when LR gets bogged down,...
    >Do you have autowrite xmp set to on? Look at the top of the forum. Shut this feature off.
    This feature is turned off, and has been since the beginning before importing my folder structure.
    > CS2 and bridge run just fine.
    >Bridge is a file browser, not a database.
    Well, LR is touted as "an efficient way to import, select, develop, and showcase large volumes of digital images." And is aimed directly at pro and serious amateur photogs. These are the type of people, myself included, who have very large volumes of pictures. So far, I don't see anything "efficient" about LR and how it imports, selects, and showcases images.
    ACDSee is also a database, and a viewer, and a RAW converter, and a file editor. Yet it does not have the incredible overhead of LR. So far, I have found that LR creates a large database file, a sub-folder for each image, a preview file for each image, and then finally an XMP file for each image I make changes to. So theorectically, that is adding 29000 folders and 58000 files, just for me to be able to see my images in LR. What the heck? What a waste of HD space, and it just increases the overhead when trying to open the program and browse through the pictures.

  • In Flashplayer, I can crossover mouse and keyboard events. In IrfanView I cannot. Can this be fixed?

    My client uses IrfanView to play SWF files. Unfortunately, he does not use Flashplayer. In Flashplayer, I can crossover mouse and keyboard events with no problem. In IrfanView, the second I click a button, the keyboard events are disabled. Is there a fix?

    Hi Ned. I may have posted this issue a bit early, but this problem is also happening in Flashplayer 10. It's not exclusive to IrfanView.
    Here is something that I encountered during my testing, when I jump to scene 6 using the menu button, I have a play button to jump from one frame to the next frame that stops -- the keyboard events start working. But if all I am doing is jumping scene to scene with the mouse button, the keyboard events are disabled.
    I feel as if the keyboard events only work if I am playing frames in the scene. And if all I am doing is jumping scene to scene using the buttons, the keys will disable.
    I set up the mouse buttons inside a movieclip that all the scenes share. The mouse actionscript is in the movieclip. On the main timeline of each scene is an actionscript for the keyboard events, even though I had to change each function name.
    I feel the actionscript is setup pretty simple. I just wish clicking the buttons would not disable the keyboard events. This may sound redundant, but the keyboard events do the same thing if you use the mouse buttons. It's just preference for the client even though he will need to understand that using the mouse buttons override the keyboard events. He doesn't really lose functionality.
    Keyboard actionscripting below:
    import flash.events.KeyboardEvent;
    stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, onKeyEvent);
    function onKeyEvent(e:KeyboardEvent):void {
    var character:String=String.fromCharCode(e.charCode);
    if (e.keyCode==72) {
      gotoAndStop(1,"master");
    if (e.charCode==49) {
      gotoAndPlay(1,"Distributor");
    if (e.charCode==50) {
      gotoAndPlay(1,"Mirka");
    if (e.charCode==51) {
      gotoAndPlay(1,"Farm");
    if (e.charCode==52) {
      gotoAndPlay(1,"Check2");
    if (e.charCode==53) {
      gotoAndPlay(1,"Check3");
    if (e.charCode==54) {
      gotoAndPlay(1,"Scene2");
    if (e.charCode==55) {
      gotoAndPlay(1,"Scene1");

  • CSS box-to-box redundancy heartbeat question

    hi netpros,
    customer is running CSS in box2box redundancy and has messed around with the heartbeat link - so both became active.
    according to documentation there is only on ha link possible!
    is there any other option to get this link redundant?
    or should we redesign and use vip/virtual interface redundancy to avoid split brain conditions?
    any hints appreciated.
    best regards,
    juergen

    Juergen,
    Vip/Interface redundancy is definitely a better solution. Faster failover time. No 1 HA link issues ....
    So, that would be my recommendation.
    Unless the customer is doing FWLB.
    In this case, B2B redundancy is a much easier solution.
    But no solution to have a backup ha link.
    Gilles.

  • ISE CWA redirect redundancy

    Hi
    If in a CWA authorization profile the IP address option is used for the redirection, how will this impact on redundancy ? For instance in my implementation with 2 ISE appliances, on the Primary Admin Node the CWA profile is configured with an IP address of x.x.x.110 which is the address of the Primary ISE appliance. When the primary appliance fails how will the secondary appliance handle the above cause the x.x.x.110 ip address will then be unavailable and the new ip should be x.x.x.109....?

    If you check that box and set an IP address manually then all CWA requests will go to that IP/Host Name. If you want to have redundancy then you should leave that box unchecked. Doing that will allow ISE to use the FQDN of the Radius server that is currently serving that SSID.
    I hope this helps!

  • Inter chassis Redundancy License

    Hi,
    Could anyone tell me that I am having 2 Cisco ASR 1002 and I want to do Inter chassis Redundancy between these devices.
    As per Cisco doc I found that Inter chassis Redundancy is available for ASR1002 but it is for Firewall/NAT configuration Replication.
    And it need Cisco IOS XE 3.7S for inter chassis Redundancy and we need this license FLASR1-FWNAT-RED(=) for Replication of Firewall/NAT configuration.
    These are links where I found this:
    Inter chassis Redundancy on ASR 1002
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/asr1000/configuration/guide/sbcu/2_xe/sbcu_2_xe_book/sbc_interHA.pdf

    but I want to confirm that can it will replicate the IP data traffic as we doesn't have any Firewall/nat configuration or any other traffic except IP data.
    OR
    If I purchase this license mentioned before than it will replicate the Data configuration or not.
    we also have to run VRFs, BGP and QOS also on these devices.
    Please let me know if anybody know this.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hello Leo Laohoo
    I know Rahul Chhabra. But my answer is not there where you told me to go.
    As you told him to use HSRP, we don't want to use this protocol. Because this is configured on the interface level. If we will use this protocol we need the same number of ip addresses as the interfaces we are having on the routers. Thats why we prefer Inter-chassis Hardware Redundancy between 2 ASR 1002 routers, in this case we require only two IP addresses for the both the routers.
    Now i want to know that we want to enable only routing on the ASR routers, for this do we need any license or not. If yes then which one license we have to purchase?
    If not then please tell me the link from where have you seen that we don't require any link.

  • H323 redundancy between routers

    I have 2 2800 series routers with E1 circuits on both, i can place calls on both gateways without any issues. If i pull the E1 circuit on one router, but still have IP connectivity to it from the callmanager, the route list route group will not forward outing calls to the second gateway. I'm wondering if this level of redundancy is going to work with H323. By the way if i loose ip conectivity with the first gateway the route list route group does force the outbond calls to the next H323 gateway and all works fine. Any help would be good.
    dave white

    Hi, why don't you use MGCP instead H.323? it's the best way to have redundancy.

  • How does Labview support redundancy?

    I have a control system and Labview will act as the means of control/monitoring. However, I want to have a primary and secondary computer with duplicate system setups. How does Labview support this type of redundancy such that if the primary goes down, the secondary will take control seamlessly.

    Hi,
    LabVIEW has many capabilities that can be combined to create a very robust redundant system. Some of these features include the following:
    Archiving databases periodically
    Monitoring a process on a remote machine
    Executing an application on the backup when the primary has failed
    The most straight forward method of implementing the monitoing is to use discrete memory tags to create a heartbeat. When the heartbeat on the Primary machine has stopped, the backup should take over and begin execution.
    If you have specific questions about how to implement this, feel free to call support by going to www.ni.com/ask.

  • What is this button / tool / feature ?

    After upgrading Firefox to v.29, next to the new Open Menu button there is what at first sight appears to be a blank space but which on closer inspection has six grey dots forming a triangle in the lower right hand corner, giving it the appearance of a resizing tool. By clicking and dragging on it, I can change the width of the Firefox window, in just the same way as clicking-and-dragging on the right border of the Firefox window. If I right-click on it and choose "Remove from Toolbar" it disappears, but reappears as soon as I restart Firefox.
    Is this simply a redundant resizer (or, more accurately, "re-widther")? If so, is there any way to get rid of it?

    The image is very small that I almost deleted it. Can you possibly take a bigger screenshot?
    Can you give me a screenshot so I know what you're seeing? Please see [[How do I create a screenshot of my problem?]] to create a screenshot<br>
    Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the '''Browse...''' button below the ''Post your reply'' box. This will help us to visualize the problem.
    Can you start by giving us the troubleshooting information from the Firefox installation that's having problems. This is an essential step in troubleshooting.<br>
    *Click the Firefox button at the top left, then click the ''Help'' menu and select ''Troubleshooting Information'' from the sub-menu. If you don't have a Firefox button, click the Help menu at the top and select ''Troubleshooting Information'' from the menu.
    Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.

    Hi,
    In order to add "redundancy-protocol" to the circuit, you need to go into the ip address section after going into the circuit section and then it will be an available option.
    Like this:
    scc-lb1(config)# circuit VLAN10
    once in the circuit section, type in the ip address of the circuit.
    Then you will be in the ip address part of the config and type in "redundancy-protocol"

  • CNA & "switch redundant power supply"

    Just configured trunking between these switches:
    2950T-48-SI
    3508G-XL
    3548-XL
    The traffic appears to be flowing correctly through both the default VLAN and also my additional VLAN.
    Now, ALL of the 2950 switches on my network display this message: "switch redundant power supply failed" when I connect to them using the Cisco Network Assistant.
    Seems like the error message must be related somehow to the VLAN configuration I did.
    In a nutshell, I configured all connected Gigabit ports this way:
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    I only configured SOME of my switches for the trunking and additional VLAN - must all of them be configured the say way, even if I don't anticipate needing the additional VLANS on those switches?
    Thanks, Susan

    Hi Susan,
    Do you have redundant power supplies connected to the 2950s?
    If not, you are probably running into a cosmetic bug, CSCee96721.
    We can confirm this by issuing a "show env" in the CLI.
    You should see something like this:
    "switch#sho env all
    FAN is OK
    Internal POWER supply is OK
    RPS is NOT present
    RPS is FAULTY"
    Note that the last line indicates that the RPS is faulty, even though the line above it indicates that no RPS is present.
    If that applies to you as well, then you are hitting this bug. CNA is polling the same information, which is why you are seeing "switch redundant power supply failed" in CNA.
    The fix is in 12.1(22)EA3 and later.
    HTH,
    Bobby
