I bought the iPod color, October of 2005. It worked well until July of 2006. I had gotten the Sad iPod icon, and all of my choices were screwed, and I had to send it in.
I got a new iPod of the same model back, and it worked well. Though I lost all of my music, at least I had an iPod that worked.
There was one thing wrong with it since about September of 2006. "Top 25 Most Played" would always just come on, and play, out of nowhere. It would just turn on and do this. That stopped happening not too long ago, and another problem has occurred. If I go to select a song, it'll display it, but wont play it. Nothing happens, my iPod is frozen, and waits 5 seconds. Then it will go to the next song, and do the exact same thing. I have to restart my iPod to get it to work again.
Even after that, I have ANOTHER problem. If I turn my iPod off, most of the time, I can't turn it back on. I get the Sad iPod icon, and the folder icon every time I turn it on! Then I have to restart my iPod about 5 times before it'll work again! I need help, please!
Restoring usually fixes a large percentage of problems.
I have a lot, and by a lot, I mean a LOT of music on my iPod, and restoring it would take a long time, having to put back all these songs on it.
Shouldn't take that long but you can let it run when you go to bed.

Usually if you have some kind of hardware failure there is some beeping during POST or most motherboards now have LED indicators to produce and error message based on the type of failure
So if its bad memory, not place properly, mismatched, processor not inserted properly, mismatched voltage or voltage connector not present etc it beeps or generates the error id.
Power supplies can be tested for failure. There are some walk throughs for testing just them with a switch, paperclip or a jumper (I'd suggest not doing this if you are not familiar with the dangers of electricity).
Memory can be tested with memory diagnostics programs like Memtest+
Processors can overheat if the proper precautions have not been taken usually you will get a POST beep or error code for that.
If the motherboard has no response then do the basics first:
Check power connectors and power supply. Once you determine that is not the case move on to other items like graphics cards in all the way or memory. -

The Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice is required
If you do not have that information you will not be able to use the Device.

when starting imovie I get an error missing quicktime components. To solve the problem I have upgraded to latest version but it didn't help. I want to either solve this problem or get a refund for the useless upgrade.
Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded:

Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
(Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".)
iMovie does not, AFAIK, use QT 10. -

Please help, i used to have various colors to select from when selecting FILL in Keynote such as red, now I only have a few pastel colors. I cannot seem to fix this problem to get the original colors back. Can someone please advise what I need to do.

Are you using Keynote on an iPad?

If you are using a Mac, the colours palette is accesed by clicking on the colour well (arrowed) and then selecting a colour chip or changing the color in the colour wheel. -

I have had this problem for a couple months now,
It all started when my friends computer (same, black macbook) started saying (calculating until....) all the time he had his charger plugged in, and the LED was a very dim green, he used my charger to put power into his battery, I then put his charger into my computer and noticed that the battery life did not change when i was using my macbook, later on that day, I plugged my own charger into my laptop and it did not charge, it also said (calculating until....) and the LED was a dim green, now I have used all the power in my battery and when i remove my charger my computer turns off.
I bought a new battery thinking it would resolve the problem, when I changed the batteries the new one had 39%, i plugged my charger in and it still failed to charge, not wanting to use a new battery i put my old battery back in.
Then thinking it must be my charger, I got a working one off of a friend, i watched it charge perfectly in his brothers computer and when i plugged it into my computer, the LED was a very dim green, and it still failed to charge.
I've tried all the apple, restart your NVRAM and SMC stuff. 2 of my friends have exactly the same problem and we're clueless. Does anyone know what is going on, this computer has my life on it, heelpp meeee pleeaaseeee!

I'm in the same general position: MacBook over a year old (16 months), no AppleCare, sudden apperance of the miserable black X ("No batteries available", my A$$!)... I've tried it all: reset the PRAM and SMC, installed Battery Update... I ran all the tricks and treats I could find on the "official" AND not-so-official Apple boards. No go. Performs just fine on AC, but the battery is gonzo. HellOOOo! A LAPTOP is supposed to be PORTABLE!!
I guess it's off for an hour-long ride to the closest Apple store for me. I'm hoping a Genius will take pity on my poor, un-warranty-havin' self and just swap my craptastic battery for a brand-spankin' new one -- AND I'm hoping that'll be the end of it! I get sick to my stomach at the idea of having to send my little baby off for service. I think I'd have to buy an external hard drive to back up all my photos and music and other files...
I've already suffered through the Random Shutdown circle of heII. And, as I type, my wrists are a-resting on a decidedly PINK-tinged interior plastic... I hate that my precious little MacBook has had all these problems. I know buying a new unit might resolve this, but I don't want a big ol' MBP or another MB! I want THIS machine!!! (to work)

The problem is that at line 161, you have the code:
click(e.getPoint());
in the constructor ImagePanel()
but the contract for your click method requires both a Point AND a Move. Since you only provide the point, it's asking for the move.
the code should look like:
click(e.getPoint(), someMove);
Here's a hint. anytime you get a message that says :
xxxx cannot be applied to yyyyy,
it means that the method your looking for has been found, but you are not passing it the right parameters.

My Sons iPod Touch Recently Reads Low Battery all the Time now Since downloading and Playing COD ... Is there a Simple Fix for this ??? Or Something I need to do to Correct it and Also to Possibly Erase all the Low Battery Error Pages it has Created ??? Maybe he needs to Catorogize them or ??? If the memory is low, double click the home button to bring up the multitask bar, tap on one of the apps shown until they start to shake, then hit the little red minus to close them. After all apps are closed that way, press the home button again and see if it works now.
Maybe you'll reset the device as well by pressing the home and sleep button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data doing this, but it can clear some glitches as well. -

I keep getting an error message "cannot connect to the internet." Is this a problem with my internet provider, or has anyone else had this problem.
I get that problem once in a while and I will not be able to connect to the Internet with any of the 5 or 6 (or 7 or 8 ) web browsers that I use on my iPad. The one thing that I do that has never failed to work for me is to close all apps on my iPad and reset the device. I can't guarantee that it will work for you, but this works for me every time I get the server failed to load/can't connect to the Internet message.... Or whatever the exact message is.
If you have a ton of apps in the multitasking display, it can take a while to close them all, so you could just trey resetting the iPad first and that might be all that you need to do.
Closing apps in iOS 7 works like this. Drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
New version will not work with yahoo tool bar. How can I fix this problem ?

Get a faster router. When movies drag, it's usually because your router is slow. Another option would be to let the movie buffer for a while before you start watching. Start the move then pause it and it will buffer. Me personally, I'd get a faster router.........

my ipod nano 7th generation won't play anything and when i click "radio" it says to plug in headphones when they're in. Can anyone help me with this problem?
Get a flashlight and make sure there is no obstruction/dirt/debris in the Nano headphone jack. Be sure you plug the headphones all the way in, the plastic on the headset jack should be flush with the body of the Nano.

Get a lens cleaner disc. One with brushes and try that. CDs and DVDs use different lenses, so since CDs load and play, I strongly suspect a dirty lens.
