It now seems that if you live in a non infinity area you will be allowed to stream SS1 & SS2 over normal ADSL broadband and I presume using Powerline Adapters if you have them fitted.
However, if you have SS1 & SS2 streamed over BT Infinity via. having the Infinity upgrade offer they will remove any Powerline Adapters you have fitted and expect an ethernet cable to be installed between the router and the vision box.
It appears to me that there is more potential for not having the correct speed through the Powerline Adapters with ADSL than with Infinity.
BT need to get a level playing field into their offerings rather than trying to brow beat people into taking Infinity by telling them they cannot have SS1 & SS2 unless they upgrade to Infinity.
It would be nice to have a Mod comment on this ludicrous situation.

Yes, but for the eligible customers who have been told by letter they can receive SS1&2 via ADSL broadband it also says that they will only be able to watch/record one channel at a time. Also it remains to be seen whether the pictures will be transmitted at a lower bitrate and quality than those over Infinity.
FYI.
BT say that for the Infinity+multicast extra channels set up you need a minimum of 15Mbps. That is so you can can watch/record two extra HD channels at the same time.
However, Sky Sports 1&2 over Infinity won't be in HD so you could argue you could get by with a lower speed just for those multicast channels.
Yes, I agree but when I called they were not interested other than spouting the party line which was why I asked for Technical and they said no problem with Powerlines.
I have emailed the mods for help as you know from the other thread but have not heard anything yet (been 4 working days now).

I want to set up "find my ipad" on my sister's ipad, so we can find each other's iPads. However, this seems to require differing individual cloud email addresses, so one ipad wouldn't recognise the other one. How do I get round this?

You mention that a lost ipad can be found from any computer. As a relative computer novice, I didn't know this. How would I go about carrying out such a search?
I don't think I'd use the find friends app. My concern is to find a lost or stolen ipad.

After the most recent iPhoto update, I keep getting the following error: "iPhoto quit unexpectedly while using the Sonix SN9c201 webcam plugin." This seems to happen after *every* iPhoto update. Is there a fix on the way?
As you can see below, when I right click, I have no such option. In the User Account Settings, I'm operating as the "System Administrator".

About a month ago, I began periodically getting the spinning wheel while trimming, adding titles or transitions, etc. It lasts for about 15 seconds and then goes away. This seems to happen once every minute or two. I have more than enough RAM/Power, etc. About every other time I use FCPX it will spontaneously close (typically when editing a title). None of these things were happening previously. I have lots of projects that I store on Promise Pegasus drives via Thunderbolt. I only keep a few projects and the associated events open in FCPX at a time, otherwise I use Event Managaer X to keep track of them. Can anybody give me any suggestions as to why this is occurring and what I can do to remedy it? I have the latest version of FCPX as far as I can tell. This is driving me mad and costing me significant time while editing. By the way, I am doing just basic editing. Essentially trimming, cutting and adding some transitions and a few title screens. Thanks in advance for your help.
These apperarances of the spinning wheel tend to be related to some io operation that takes too long. Maybe the finder is trying to reach a network server that became unavailable.
I would try clearing caches and do an overall maintenance with an utility like OnyX.
Also, trashing preferences does no harm and is often the first troubleshooting measure when FCP X misbehaves. -
My MacBook Pro screen seems to be getting darker. At times it is very difficult to read....Is there a setting to make it brighter, or is it a sign that I have a virus or some malware?

Firefox won't open; tried all I found on this site; can't get in to disable add-ons.
Firefox will not open. Little wheel spins, then disappears. Nothing.

USB HDD feature is a joke? This seems to be a popular issue...
Anyone have any ideas as to how we can get Apple to listen regarding this feature? I see many posts on here by people with issues regarding being able to access their HDDs, and not many are answered. It's pretty obvious that there is something wrong with the set-up. This is THE reason I bought the Airport Extreme. When I first set it up, it was working and I was very happy with it. A day or two later and now I can't connect to the HDD. When I do, it loses it's connection a random amount of time later and I have to unplug/restart everything in order to get it working for what could be 5 minutes or 15 or maybe an hour or two. I am using a WD 1TB drive, and will gladly switch if there is something that will work better with this. (I've read that it could be due to the WD HDDs "hibernating" when not in use)
I've read that going back to firmware 7.4.1 has solved the problem for some people, but I can't find it anywhere online now that Apple has taken it off their website. (if you click the link to download, it brings you in a circle) Does anybody know where you can get it or if there are any alternatives that they've resolved themselves to? I just want to be able to have a HDD set up on my network where all of my computers can get to it without having to have a central computer on all of the time. I was going to try an N+ router that is now on the market, but that doesn't support dual bands like the AEBS.
Any help would be greatly appreciated - I know that there are many theories out there...even if you have it and it is working for you - just sharing your set up would help some of us out.

I'd just like to say that I am a new Apple customer and couldn't be happier with my Macbook Pro. The Airport Extreme & Time Capsules on the other hand, not so much. The major reason that I purchased these was to have an external harddrive that I can access anywhere on my network, and that has not been delivered. I paid a premium for both of these products and I feel that I've been left in the cold along with many other people in the support discussion forums. There are major issues with being able to connect to the attached hard drives and it doesn't seem like your company is making any attempt to fix them. (in fact it seems to be getting worse going by the posts in the forum) I'm sorry, but I am not going to pay to talk to your representatives over the phone to discuss this matter. I have no faith that will lead to a resolution, and I'm guessing if that was of any use somebody would've mentioned it on the forums by now.
Could you please listen to the appeals of a new customer and try to resolve this issue? (or even look on the message boards that you are hosting and acknowledge that there is a problem?) I really want to believe in your product, but if you don't care about them, why should I? I know that this is merely a feedback submission, but I really hope that it is heard by someone in your company that matters.

I now seem to be getting a lot of pop-up in Firefox, despite having pop-up blocked in settings>content.
I also get separate windows opening for gaming/ trahs sites.
In certain websites I also get words which now link to bizzy bolt websites, which are now way related to the website I am viewing.You may have an unwanted extension that is generating the ad popups. Try this:
Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable. Or remove.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that eliminate the popups?
If you find extensions that do not have a Remove button, usually this indicates that they were installed externally. Check the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. Click the "Installed on" column header to bring recent additions to the top and reveal items that were bundled together, perhaps without your knowledge.
