Those little things ...

I'm still finding those tiny, tiny changes in LR3 that may seem insignificant one by one, but put together make up a large improvement:
+/- work as they should now when changing the exposure. 0,1 increments on their own, 0,33 when combined with Shift.
If you pull the exposure slider, it will stick to the even 0,1 steps. Much nicer, psychologically!
In the Library filter, the three flags have been given much better icons, that are easier to understand. (Also in the film strip.)
I'm sure you guys have found many more similar improvements. Let's collect them all in one thread!

I'll quote my favorite small goodies from Victorias Blog, because she knows better how to word them than I do and has spent valuable time putting them together.
There’s a new badge on the thumbnails showing photos that are in a standard or Publish collection
Smart collections have gained some extra criteria settings such as ‘is’ and ‘is not’, and now Focal Length too
Backup has moved to quit rather than startup
The breadcrumbs bar on the filmstrip now has a Favorite Sources option

And what specifically. Sorry, this is way too generic. We don't know what your image looks like, what those "little things" actually are (Scratches? Dust? Scenery details? Skin impurities? etc.) nor what experience level you actually have with PS...

The back up is supposed to be a rolling back up and therefore may still contain data from previous back ups. To free up space you may wish to delete the back up and start again.

I recently thought I was updating my Safari browser. When completed, I put all those little files that were on the desktop into the trash. Now my trash is saying it can't be emptied because there are locked files and I don't know how to unlock them or get them out of my trash and they keep multiplying. And to make matters worse, I tried renaming them as pdf files thinking that might do the trick.

oh boy ! I'd ask you if you knew what kind of files they were or where they came from, but I don't think you could help me a bunch. Try going to the Utilities folder and running Disk Utilities.  If you want to empty the Trash and it won't empty, go to the finder and choose "secure Empty trash". Worse case scenario-you may have to reinstall Snow Leopard, but I don't know what else to suggest. If you have a DVD of Snow Leopard, boot up from that,  and reinstall the OS. This will not touch the stuff you have on your Hard Drive, then you can update from 10.6 to 10.6.8, otherwise Onyx? Maybe those files are part of the OS which needs them to keep running.  if you hold down the Shift key on reboot, you can reboot in Safe mode and maybe you can take the files out of the trash that way

  • Little things missing in Snow

    Hello All,
Sorry for putting a variety of topics into one message but they are too small to have their own threads.
    1) Where is the keyboard batteries status report hiding?
    2) I can change the language to Hungarian, but I can't find the layout of the Hungarian keyboard.
    Where is it hiding?
    3) I paired a keyboard with SnowLeopard and another with my old machine running Leopard.
Later I wanted exchanging them, but only Leopard accepted the other keyboard.
Any way to ask Snow to accept keyboards already paired to some other system?
    4) Finder reports in three long columns when a lot more columns are available.
Also, if I pull-out an item a few millimetres, the icon does not spring back into its place.
How could I set it up to do the right things?
    Thanks,
    Mike-oz

    In Bluetooth preferences
I can't find it there (perhaps the diNovo keyboard is something special)
    4) Finder reports in three long columns when a lot more columns are available.
I don't understand the question. In Column mode, just make the window wider to see more columns. > In list mode, select View > Show View Options and check the new columns you want.

I don't really understand this question either. When viewing as icons, they will stay where you put > > them unless you have auto-arrange or snap to grid turned on.
Thanks, I've found finder > show view options > snap to grid.
Regarding columns, I was not precise enough: I was thinking in icon mode.
I don't know how to ask Finder to show more than 3 columns of icons, to fill the
available space. 3 columns means a lot of scrolling, though all applications would fit on a page.

Make sure and remove it from the other machine. Then turn it off and back on to get into
"discovery" mode. Nothing bluetooth works properly the first time.
I'll try this tomorrow and come back report the result.
    Thank you,

  • Little things missing in Z3

Hi, just bought Xperia Z3, updated to Lollipop 5.0.2, and it's awesome.
However moving from LG phones, I feel the Xperia is missing few "little things":
    1. No option of "vibrate when call is answered"
This one is small but a very useful thisng, you don't have to hold the phone at your ear, when waiting for the other person to answer.
    2. No multi-clipboard!
There should be option to pase at least last 5 copied texts. This is very usefull for example when managing emails.
    3. Low volume of speakers!
OK, I know, that the phone is waterproof, but c'mon guys...  have to have all volumes turned to max, to hear ringtone, youtube video sounds...
Is there any way to fix above?
    Best regards, Jacek
BTW - My back panel glass cracked in half with no reason, while the phone was in my pocket... Is Sony using sugar-glass for phones? So delicate...

    @JacekWarchol
Contact your local Xperia Care regarding your suggestions and the back cover
    http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/contactUs/
The back cover nor the front glass will crack unless the phone was dropped, hit, or there were too much pressure on the phone, perhaps you have dropped the phone before and this created micro cracks and the only thing needed was more pressure to expand the cracks.

  • The little things #2

Basically I´m thrilled with this update, which I haven´t got yet.
Among others the elastic audio features -Yes, the term "elastic" is used in promo material-And from the video I´ve seen, it seems much more straigtforward than Pro Tools.
    But the little things:
#1 The graphics department. Are you ever struggling to get a volume curve right? Zoom in, zoom in.
PT is much more accurate here. In other words, Logic can be very clumsy.
Not to mention the famous double spl´s and the "suddenly" diminished mixer window.
#2 Wouldn´t it be nice to open sample editor in place, so it corresponds to the position in arrange?
(#3 No, I know!: Selecting i.e 8 drum tracks to make a common fade out, No! (You can use the inspector, numerically))
#4 Does the new package include a decent de-esser?
#5 Got the Waves GTR3. Was that a waste of money, compared to the Amp Designer?
(well not exactly a little thing)
And more of course. Curious to hear your opinions.

ok 2 things why do you get so little data on the 45 dollar plan when most apps take so much to run. They should give at least 2 gb of data for that one then they would get more happy customers to sign up.
It is up to the customer to choose the plan with the amount of data for their needs. If you want 2 GB of data, choose a plan which has 2 GB of data. Don't choose a plan lower in price without enough data for your needs. There are plenty of people for which 1 GB of data is plenty for a month of service.
You simply seem to be unhappy with Verizon's prices. Verizon will lower their prices if and when pressure from the market forces them to do so. Unfortunately for you, that will probably mean Verizon will STILL have a 1 GB plan AND a 2 GB plan with the 1 GB plan being lower in price than the 2 GB plan. I am sure you will then complain Verizon has "so little data on the $35 plan when most apps take so much to run" when the $45 plan could possibly have 2 GB of data just like you wanted.

  • Why can't anyone tell me how to remove all those little "!" in the left column all at once or at least sort them so I can mark them and then delete them?

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.
If, on the otherhand, you've been cleaning up your media from Explorer rather than iTunes and just want to eliminate the now broken links, use Tunes Folder Watch with its option to check for dead tracks on startup.

As far as I know there is no US cell carrier that allows pay as you go with an iPhone. You can purchase an unlocked iPhone 4S at an Apple Store and try it with a non-supported carrier.

  • Two little things driving me crazy...

It's the little things that get you...
I just hooked up an Airport Extreme for my laptop, replacing an older Airport which had issues. It's hooked to a DSL modem.
Mostly this is for the better, but two things are worse:
    1) It doesn't automatically reconnect to my network when I reopen the lid any more. I have to choose my network each time.
    2) For some reason, now I have a counter or timer in the menu bar, showing how long I've been connected to the Internet. Something I do NOT need to know every second as I work.
Of course, the way to solve 2 would be to remove the Airport signal strength doohickey from the menu bar, and with it the timer, except that I need it there since I have to reconnect every time I open the lid!
Anyone know how to 1) make it automatically reconnect every time it's opened, like it used to and 2) make the dang counter go away? Thanks in advance.

    Michael,
    1) Open System Preferences>Network>Airport and at "By default, join:" select "Preferred Networks" instead of "Automatic" - then select the name of your network and then click on "Apply Now" button at bottom of panel.
    2) Open the Airport icon at the top of your screen, select the name of your network and de-select "Show Time Connected"

  • Goodbye BT - It's the little things

Its the little things that matter so much. Like not sending you your introductory voucher, sending you promises it will be in the post. Putting up prices arbitrarily. **bleep** you off the most. Charging if you don't pay direct debit and then helping yourself. Adding a couple of quid for paper billing and going e-mail without your consent. Telephone help in India where the people works-in-dark-in-early-hours-of-the-morning-very-helpful-to-tell-you-what-I-am-reading-off-the-scre...en. Raising the prices again. Giving you the opportunity to subscribe to special offer discount that isn't and tie you into a new contract for 24 months. Minefield of options when you call then hangs up after ad nauseam please-hold Smetana's Má vlast. Goodbye BT. I hope it is the last. FFFFFFFF-rown. Disconnect fee. Keeping paid in advance charges. Not our policy to give you a refund. Now you see the cockroaches in the contract. Pull the plug and leave you high and dry. Deny you pulled the plug and keep the billing going - that's Technical We're accounts. It shows you are still contact on our computer. We must be right. It is the little things.

    Spot on JSTTESCONET !
The only thing I'd disagree with you about is these are Big things not Little things.
It must be so depressing working for BT and knowing that they have such an appalling reputation. My heart goes out to their employees who need a job but can't find another employer.

  • It's the little things that drive me crazy...

As I continue making the slow transition from Avid to FCP, little things that should be no-brainers continually trip me up. What can I do to keep my border intact and not lose it when I crop?
Secondly, why is it when I change the speed of a clip on the timeline does it stretch the clip out and push everything down (and vice-a-versa too)? I simply want to - in Avid terms - time warp it within the span of the timeline's clip.

    Many have made the journey.
You have to leave your baggage at the door, FCP is a very different beast that will confound you to start with.
But you may learn to love many features and wonder why it is so hard on an Avid.
    In any case,
the answer you are looking for lies in the order or computation in FCP.
    Motion follows Filter.
So you need to work around this little order issue.
    Crop the image or footage.
Then nest (under the Sequence menu),
Right click the nested clip in your timeline, select load in Viewer,
    add your border.
Welcome to your first new way of thinking in FCP.
You'll find many more times you will wonder how people don't scream 10 times a day on FCP.
Then a years time you might use an Avid and ask "why can't I just import a 2000 pixel image and zoom with out it looking rubbish?"

  • What other little things about the iPod I should know about?

    Just a quick question,
What are some of the features of the iPod Touch that are not 100% obvious?
    Example...
Yesterday I found out that you could pull up the music controls anywhere(even locked) by pressing the "home" button twice.
After finding the above by accident, I was thinking about if their was any other little hidden things to find.
