hi......
ok, so i've got the card hooked up to the tv using the s-video cable.  i can see the desktop picture and that's it -- no icons, no nothing....  um, help. i've played with all the options under  display options/settings  and no luck.  any suggestions?
thanks,
qbit

I'm using an hdmi cable.... I just now got it working.  It could be turned on in the control panel as a default when hdmi is in use.  It's working well now
thanks

    Hello Yun_Zhu,
    Your VI looks like you started from an example, and you are on the right track.
    To clarify are you trying to synchronize the input and the output waveforms?  If you you will need to share a time base and a start trigger.  Check out the synchronization examples from LabVIEW

  • Audio input and output at the same time

    Hello mac users.
    I have one simple question: since the new macbook has one single audio port for both input and output, how could I, for example, play my guitar AND listen to the headphones at the same time?
    I KNOW (because I've tried) that with the iPhone headphones with microphone the port CAN physically work at the same time for input and output, so the question is: what can I use to do that? Will a simple splitter do or do I have to use different tricks?
    (I know there is a thread on this already, but it doesn't provide a definitive answer)
    Thank you!

    One of the first questions to ask...
    Is the audio input stereo or mono?
    When using a headset mic you're dealing with a mono input so you at least know the Mac is capable of that.
    If it's mono, and I suspect it is, should be easy to either make or purchase a custom cable that has two female input connectors, one mono input and a stereo headphone input.
    However, I'd probably just purchase a USB audio interface, the sound, both recording and playback will be head and shoulders above the Macbooks built in internal audio.

  • Using counter and output at the same time

    Hi all,
    I'm using a NI 9401 high speed digital IO module (with a cDAQ 9174 chassis) that has 8 digital IO channels, to perform two tasks at once in Labview. I can get both of them to work independantly, but when I put them together to run simultaniousy in parallel, it does not work. My two tasks are simple: 1. Generate a continious pulse train square wave output using one of the counters linked to one of the output channels (PFI7) and 2. Output a 'high' (5V) with one of the other channels (PFI1)  when a certain logic condition is met.
    When I run my code (attached), the pulse train output works, but the output on the other channel doesn't work when the logic condition is met. I should note that the logic condition is that when RMS current exceeds 3A, I want to output a 'true'. I am measuring current using another analog input card connected to the same chassis and this part is all working well. I think the problem is that there is some sort of interference between the pulse train output which is linked to PFI7 and the other output which is PFI1.
    I know there is a limitation with the 9401 card that if the channels are in two groups, 0-3 and 4-7, and you must use a whole group as either all inputs or all outputs, but I don't think this should affect me, as I am using both my channels as outputs anyway, plus I am using channels 1 and 7 anyway.
    If anybody has any ideas as to what could be wrong with my code, I would greatly appreciate it.

    OK, you've shot yourself in the foot.
    It is a very bad idea to modify the shipping examples.  Like testing bungee cords by juming off a cliff-  sometimes you only get to try it once.
    Now why on earth did you not add the DI code following the example's method of wiring the error chain and closing the task after the loop?  You have duplicated code in both cases of your case structure the only difference.........(wait for it..........) There is a true constant in the true case where the false case contains a false constant.  A wait for task complete is unnecessary for a 1 sample DI task-  really the write just completes and the task stops all by itself.  the only needed thing here is a DI Write 1 Ch 1 Sample no case structure, and wire the compare output to data to write.
    You should probably add a control task vi with a "Reserve" input prior to each start task on the CO and  AI Tasks and after the Create Task on the DO.  Its a bit technical but the result is like taking vitamins- you'll just get better performance.

  • I have on;y one audio port can i use it for input and output at the same time?

    i have the new macbook pro 13 in and i want to connect aguitar as input and output on an amp but i have only one audio port

    You can't use the jack as an input and output simultaneously. The solution is to look for a USB or Firewire interface to get your guitar sound into the computer.

  • RS232 Input and Output in the same time

    Hello
    I have problem with rs232.
    I read information from my power supply by RS232 Input:
     Expected string: 1923456789<CR>OK<CR>
    Channel 0
     Measurement data request: GETD00\r
     Measurement data format: 4a
    Channel 1
     Measurement data request: (empty)
     Measurement data format: 4a
    Channel 3
     Measurement data request: (empty)
     Measurement data format: 1a4x
    Sample interval: 0.20s
    The date are readed correctly until I don't send other string by RS232 Out.
    Output [a]\r (VOLT00123)
    After sending string Power Supply return data OK<CR>
    After sending string by RS232 Output the data form RS232 are readed incorrectly.

    In the Output format, you need to skip the OK<CR> so it doesn't confuse the input parsing.
    The Help says the following
    If there is the need to wait for the Response String of the external device the following string has to be attached to the format string.
    ‘\#x' (x=1-999)
    That ensures that no other module will address the interface. If the response is received the defined number (x) of characters will be skipped.
    So, the output string should be
    [a]\r\#3
    That will send the command, then wait for the OK<CR> before handing control of the serial port back to the RS232 Input module.

  • Is there a way to bold inputs and outputs in the VI documentation?

    Context help for a VI shows the VI icon and terminals with the VI's documentation.  Some VI's documentation is constructed so that Input and Output names always appear in bold.   (for example, see the context help for list directory).   The attached image shows the context help for a VI I made.  I would like to have the documentation look like this:
    Searches for all files in directory path that fit pattern.  Returns  arrays of all the file paths -- FilesMatchingPattern, filenames --FileNamesMatchingPattern and of a cluster containing both values -- StringsAndValues for files that match the given pattern
    instead of like this:

  • CFP-DIO-550 open multiple input and output at the same time

    I am trying to read and write at different times with the cFP-DIO-550.  I cant figure out how to read all the inputs at the same time.
    In the Create Tag.vi, I cant figure what to wire to the Item Name input.  I have tried Input 0, and that works, but it is only one input, I need to read all 8.  I have also tried Input All, All, Input 0:8. input 0-8, input 0: Input 8, Input 0 - Input 8, and I always get an error.
    I cant find anything on it in the manual.
    Thanks,
    Kenny

    Normally I would select 'All' using a FP IO point function instead of create tag ( LV 7.0 and up ).   I have noticed that the 'All' is only available if the module is all inputs or all outputs.  It may be that since your module is an IO, 'All' is not available by default.
    I think you need to create an item in MAX in the Data Neighborhood under the DIO-550 Module and configure it to use all the IO on the module.

  • NI error -201133; Input and output on the NI9401

    Former user of Matlab, it is the first time I try to work with the DAQ and national instrument. My device is a NI9401.
    I want to record the position of 1 optical encoders. For this , the encoder is connected to counter in the 9401.
    Here is how I proceed:
    1/ I open a new DAQ session
    2/ I add a counter channel, in order to make a clock (because, as I understood, to do a startForeground I have to configure a clock which will be associated with my data recording, am I right?
    3/ I add a counter channel in order to have the data corresponding to the position of the encoder. But at this time I have the error message about the session reserved.
    here is the code
    //first I do the clock
    ClockFreq=100;
    sClk=daq.createSession('ni');
    sClk.addCounterOutputChannel('cDAQ1Mod5',0,'PulseGeneration');
    clkTerminal=sClk.Channels(1).Terminal;
    sClk.Channels(1).Frequency=ClockFreq;
    sClk.IsContinuous=true;
    sClk.startBackground
    //then
    I configure the data input
    s=daq.createSession('ni')
    s.addCounterInputChannel('cDAQ1Mod5'),1,'Edgecount')
    At this time I have the NI error -201133 message
    Devices cannot be configured for input or output because lines and/or terminals on this device are in use by antoher task or route. This operation requires temporarily reserving all lines and terminals for communication, which interferes with the other task or route.
    If possible, use DAQmx Control task to reserve all tasks that use this device before committing any tasks that use this device. Otherwise, uncommit or unreserve the other task or disconnect the other route before attempting to configure the device for input or output.
    device : cDAQ1Mod5
    Digital Port:0
    Lines:3
    Thus, my question is :
    1/how can I configure both output clock and input counter in NI9401 directly using Matlab?
    Thanks for your help.

    If you want to do clocked counter input measurements you need to specify an external clock OR (if available) you can add an analog input channel from another module on the same chassis -- in this case the session shares an internal clock with both modules.
    The external clock can be generated by a counter output channel in pulse generation mode, as you had session sClck configured. However, ther error you are running into could be due to using channels from the same counter subsystem (on the same module) in two separate sessions.
    Can you try using the counter output channel from another module (if available)?
    s = daq.createSession('ni');
    s.addCounterInputChannel('cDAQ1Mod5', 1,'EdgeCount');
    s.addClockConnection('External', 'cDAQ1Mod5/PFI2', 'ScanClock');
    extClockFreq = 1E+3;
    % this should match the frequency of the external clock
    s.Rate = extClockFreq;
    s.DurationInSeconds = 1;
    [data, timestamps] = s.startForeground;
    The alternative to using an external clock, as I mentioned, is to have one session with one counter input channel and an analog input channel from another module on the same chassis -- in this case the session shares an internal clock with both modules, so no external clock needs to be provided. Please see the following example:

  • Calling a report from a form and outputting to the screen.

    Hi all, I created a report from the Report node in Forms called Monthly_rep. It points to a .rdf file on the server that produces a monthly usage report. When run from Reports Builder both the web and paper version are fine.
    I have a button on a form using the When-Mouse-Click trigger, here is the code:
    declare
         report_id     Report_Object;
         report_job_id     VARCHAR2(100);
    begin
         report_id:= find_report_object('monthly_rep');
         SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id,REPORT_EXECUTION_MODE,RUNTIME);
         SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id,REPORT_COMM_MODE,ASYNCHRONOUS);
         SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id,REPORT_DESTYPE,CACHE;
         SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id,REPORT_SERVER,'rskei015');
         report_job_id:=run_report_object(report_id);
         END;
    When run, when the button is clicked, I get some disk activity and then nothing happens. If I change the "SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id,REPORT_DESTYPE" attribute to screen I get a FRM-41214 unable to run report message displayed.
    I am not fussed if the report runs as a web style or paper style, I just want to get it to work ... for now LOL.
    Do the "SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY" settings in the trigger override the settings in the report node ?
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Kevin

    You can use WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT. See http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/pdf/10g/frm10gsrw10g.pdf
    There you'll find a complete example of RUN_REPORT_OBJECT with WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT.

  • How to control (the input and output) EXE file after I call it using exec?

    Hi,
    I knew that I can use runtime.exec() to call one EXE file, and this works. But this EXE has two characteristics:
    1. After this exe starts, it asks user to input number such as 1 or 2 onto computer screen, then press return. Then the exe will start the calculation.
    2. after it starts calculation, it prints 3 columns of numbers onto the screen.
    My two questions are:
    1. How to use java to input the number such as 1 or 2 automatically? this EXE can not work like this in DOS command line:
    C:> file.exe parameter
    The parameter is the number such as 1 or 2 that I wanna input.
    2. how to redirect the 3 columns of numbers from computer screen to txt file?
    My colleague can solve these two questions using Mathematica. So I know that definitely there is at least one solution for it. I just can not do it using Java. This wierd exe file bothered me a lot and I really wish that I can get help from someone in java community.
    Thank you!
    Tony

    When you call Runtime.exec, you get a Process object. (I presume something similar happens when you use ProcessBuilder.) Process has methods with names getOutput, getInput, and getError. These correspond to the standard input, standard output, and standard error streams of the spawned process.
    You can read and write to the process on the streams corresponding to input and output that the process writes to the console.
    [add]
    In fact, you should be grabbing and reading the output/error streams anyway, because of the points raised by the Traps article. Google "Java Runtime exec traps" and you'll probably get a link to this JavaWorld article, which describes common Runtime.exec problems and how to solve them.

  • Read lines from more than 1 file of different file extensions, extract the data and output to screen

    Hi,
    I am trying to read data from more than one file at once. The files are different types e.g. one is a text file one is an xml file like so, StudentInformation.txt, CollegeInformation.xml. The files are all stored in one place, in this case on the D drive of
    a local computer. I am trying to locate any files in the D drive with a file extension of .txt or of .xml (there may be more than two of these files in the future, so I'm trying to allow for that). Then I want to open all of these files, extract the information
    and output all the information in one display window. I want all the information from these two or more files to be displayed together in the display window.
    Here is the code so far. It is throwing up errors.
            //Load from txt or xml files
            private void btnLoad_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
                    IEnumerable<string> fileContents = Directory.EnumerateFiles("D:\\", "*.*", SearchOption.TopDirectoryOnly)
                    .Select(x => new FileInfo(x))
                    .Where(x => x.Extension == ".xml" || x.Extension == ".txt")
                    .Select(file => ParseFile(file));}
                    private string ParseFile(FileInfo file)
                        try
                            using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(file.FullName))
                                string line;
                                while ((line = sr.ReadLine()) != null)
                                    //Logic here to determine if this is the correct file and append accordingly
                                    lbDisplay.Items.Add(line);
                                return line;
                        catch (Exception ex)
                            // Let the user know what went wrong
                            MessageBox.Show("The file could not be read: ");
                            MessageBox.Show(ex.Message);
    The error it throws up is:
    Error 1
    'BookList.MainWindow.ParseFile(System.IO.FileInfo)': not all code paths return a value

    This is the Small Basic programming language so moving to a C# forum.
    But you need all paths to return a value, including if an exception is called and it jumps to the catch, perhaps just:
    // Let the user know what went wrong
    MessageBox.Show("The file could not be read: ");
    MessageBox.Show(ex.Message);
    return "";

  • Selection Screen and Output

    Hi,
    I am developing one report. My customer is requested me he needs Selection-screen and Output of the report both need in the same screen i.e upper part is selection screen below is the Output..
    Is it possible?
    If  YES could you please help me..........?
    Thank you advance.......

    Hi Kishore,
                   It is possible create the upper block using selection-screen this will be screen 1.Then create the another block and use INCLUDE to include the upper block.Hope your query resolves.
    An example to create selection-screen.
    SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF BLOCK SEL1 WITH FRAME TITLE TIT1.
      PARAMETERS: CITYFR LIKE SPFLI-CITYFROM,
    CITYTO LIKE SPFLI-CITYTO.
    SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK SEL1.
    SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF SCREEN 500 AS WINDOW.
      SELECTION-SCREEN INCLUDE BLOCKS SEL1.
      SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF BLOCK SEL2
    WITH FRAME TITLE TIT2.
        PARAMETERS: AIRPFR LIKE SPFLI-AIRPFROM,
    AIRPTO LIKE SPFLI-AIRPTO.
      SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK SEL2.
    SELECTION-SCREEN END OF SCREEN 500.
    We can use loop at screen to make it active or inactive at user command.That is enter or F8 whatever user chooses.
    Have a best day ahead.

  • How to save terminal command and output history to pdf on exit?

    When I exit a terminal session (terminal.app), I would like to automatically save the commands and output from the session to a PDF (or text file) as a reference.
    I can do this manually in Terminal by selecting Shell --> Print... --> PDF --> Save as PDF...
    Unfortunately, I'm too forgetful to remember to do this each time before I exit.
    Is there an alias I could set or some other method to automatically save the contents of my session to a PDF when I exit?
    Thank you in advance,
    jjw

    Frank,
    Your response was helpful, but I realized after looking at my .bash_history file that only the commands entered are listed, not the output.  I would like my commands to be printed out, but also the result from the commands (in this simple example, the directory listing):
    myuserid[~/galaxy-dist/tools]$ cd ncbi_blast_plus
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------- 09:48:37
    myuserid[~/galaxy-dist/tools/ncbi_blast_plus]$ ls
    blastxml_to_tabular.py   hide_stderr.py           ncbi_blastp_wrapper.xml  ncbi_tblastn_wrapper.xml
    blastxml_to_tabular.xml  ncbi_blastn_wrapper.xml  ncbi_blastx_wrapper.xml  ncbi_tblastx_wrapper.xml
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------- 09:48:38
    myuserid[~/galaxy-dist/tools/ncbi_blast_plus]$
    I'm thinking that there is an automator script or an alias that I could use so that when I type, "exit", the commands and output for the session would be sent to a PDF and then the session would close.
    I know it seems like an odd thing to want, but sometimes I'll forget the sequence of commands that gave me the correct output (plus, my command prompt has a timestamp on it, too).
    Thanks, though, for the .bash_history information.
    jjw
