Time Capsule Not Working With Azureus!

Hi everyone.
I have read every post about this and I am sure I've done everything right, but I STILL cannot pass the NAT/Firewall test on Azureus. I even got an Apple rep to look into it and he worked on it for a week and even he doesn't understand why it isn't working!!! I am running Leopard 10.5.2, and I have a 500 GB Time Capsule. I am using the latest version of Airport Utility and the latest version of Azureus. My ISP is Verizon Fios. Please note that when I was using Airport Extreme with a Powerbook G4 OS 10.4, everything was working swimmingly. The ONLY thing that's changed is that now I'm on Leopard and a Time Capsule. So, Here's a summary of what I've done :
1. In Network Prefs, made sure I am using a manually configured static IP address (10.0.1.201.)
2. In Security prefs, made sure firewall is off.
3. In Airport Utility, made sure I am sharing single IP address using NAT and DHCP.
4. In Port Mapping, checked the NAT enable box and opened these ports: 6881-6889, 49125-65535, and 40156 just for kicks. I've entered these numbers both public and private, both UDP and TCP (filling in all 4 fields, in other words) AND made sure the IP address matched the static one I was using in Network Prefs.
5. Restarted Azureus and my Time Capsule (and even the whole computer, just for good measure).
And guess what? Each and EVERY time, I go back to Azureus, run the NAT/Firewall test using a port I just opened, and am told it failed and that the port is in fact closed. I get the "timed out" error.
***?????? I have been working on this for weeks, literally, and I am totally losing it! Will I never see a green smiley again? Please help!!!!
Thank you in advance for ANY tips you may have...

Here are the settings that work for me.
1. Azureus>Options>Connections>Incoming TCP/UDP listen port:  49125
2. Applications>Utilities>Airport Utility>Time Capsule>Internet>NAT> Enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol
3. Applications>Utilities>Airport Utility>Time Capsule>Advanced>Port mapping>
     Public UDP portal: 49125
     Public TCP portal: 49125
     Private IP address: 10.0.1.201
     Private UDP portal: 49125
     Private TCP portal: 49125
4. System Preferences>Network>Advanced>TCP/IP>Configure IPv4: *Using DHCP with Manual Address* (this is choice #2 not #4: Manual)
5. IPv4 address:  10.0.1.201
I think that's all. I fooled around with this for a long time and not everything I did may be necessary but I don't want to mess with success.  Don't know why port 49125 works, but it worked on my Dell computer and Linksys router also. Apple Support was positive I didn't need steps 4 and 5 but 60 seconds later, my smiley faces turned green, and when I tested the port, Azureus message said "+Congratulations, you fixed it."+
The only difference I see, between your settings and mine, is perhaps steps #1 and #4. Hope you get it working. Nothing more frustrating than " little yellow faces".

  • Time Capsule Not Working With Time Machine

I'm trying to backup to my Time Capsule, which I haven't used in over two years. It had been displaced because of a change in internet service providers. The new provider came in with a Linksys router, setup a sub-network, and left the Time Capsule/Airport out of the mix.
So I want to return to using my Time Capsule and have since pulled out the Linksys router, and got the Airport functionality working with the existing, primary network. In other words, the Time Capsule/Airport is working to extend the range of the network.
Problem is this: I cannot backup to the Time Capsule. Even if I'm connecting to the Time Capsule via ethernet, I cannot get it past the 'preparing' phase when running Time Machine. It stays at the phase for what seems to me an inordinate amount of time (30-45 minutes). If I go into System Preferences, the Time Capsule disk doesn't make itself available when using it with Time Machine. If I choose to go into the Star Wars display of Time Machine, I can sort of see the various backups, but I can't roll back to them, and the backup indicator on the right looks sort of ghosted, like it's there but it's not there.
How do I know if the disk within the Time Capsule is failing? Could that be what's going on? How would I test it? I get a green light on the front of the TC, but not everything is hunky dory since I'm not able to backup.
Is part of my problem that I'm using a not up-to-date version of Airport Utility? –I'm using 5.4.2

  • HT1175 3TB time capsule not working with new iMac

I have a 3TB time capsule that's c. 2 years old. It worked perfectly with my old iMac. I bought a new 27" one when it came out this year and since the time capsule will not work.
I had to clear all the data as a starter. Now it gets a little into the backup taking c. 1 day then resets. It's connected via ethernet cable and has been told to join an existing network.
Currently it says it's backing up 922,498 items, after 2 hours (this is the third attempt, it resets then has no record of the old backup) it says 10kb of 789.44 GB - About 4,664,440 days remaining!!
To clarify I'm trying to use Time Machine with the Time Capsule.
    Please help!!

You have made a mistake in the setup.
You do not "Join an existing networking" and use ethernet.. they are mutually exclusive.
What you are doing is backing up over double hop wireless which is slowing to a crawl.
You need to put the TC into bridge mode.. and plug it into the main router by ethernet. Then use wiretess to the TC if you are too far away or ethernet if you are close by..
As soon as you put the TC into join a wireless network it deactivates the ethernet.

  • New Air Port Time Capsule Not Working With Old Airport Express

I have been running a home network comprised of a Air Port Time Capsule (A1254) and 5 ea Air Port Express (A1264) for several years with no problem.
The Air Port Time Capsule (A1254) died and I replaced it with an Air Port Time (A1470). Now none of the Air Port Express (A1264) work, all flashing yellow. All other network functions seem to work okay, Time Capsule Backup, Apple TV, Internet …
I am using AirPortUtility 6.3.1 for setup but do not see any way to setup the Air Port Express.

Reset the Express to factory and start over.. they should work.. are you using all 5 in extend wireless mode?
When you reset the Express click on the wifi icon in the top menu area.. and the newly reset AEx will appear in the list.. click it and Airport utility will open and attempt to automagically connect it to the TC.

  • Time Capsule not working with new modem

I have been using my TC with our motorola modem for 2.5 years. On Friday last week, the modem crapped the bed and AT&T sent us a new modem, a netgear. The modem is working fine; when I connect the ethernet cable directly to my laptop the internet work perfectly, however when I try to get the wireless network going through my TC, there is no connection. All the lights on the modem work fine and every time I try to work with the TC, it says that it is working fine as well. It seems like something is not communicating between the modem and the TC.
I've tried restarting both machines numerous times, I've checked and rechecked the WEP password, the IP addresses are fine, and I'm still lost
The modem works. Time Capsule Works. I don't get it!

The new netgear is probably a modem router whereas the old Motorola was pure modem.. not sure but possible.
Reset the TC and set it to bridge modem.. plug into the netgear modem router.. and it should work fine.
If the new netgear is in fact a pure modem.. you need to turn it off and put the TC in place.. wait up to 15min for the ISP to renew the lease on the MAC address then turn on the cable modem.. wait then turn on the TC. But this is not necessary if it is a router.
What is the model number of the netgear so I can check this.. ?

  • Time Capsule not working with HP LaserJet 1022nw

    Hello there,
We had an Airport Extreme 802.11n base station that our HP LaserJet 1022nw was wirelessly connecting to, and it was working fine for the last 18 months. Then, we switched to a 1 TB Time Capsule, and had the Time Capsule import all of the settings from our Airport Extreme. Now, the HP LaserJet 1022nw can no longer see our wireless network in its SSID list... and when we manually type in the SSID information & WPA password information, it still cannot connect.
So when using the Time Capsule, we cannot print wirelessly to our HP LaserJet 1022nw. If we unplug the Time Capsule and re-plug in the Airport Extreme, the HP LaserJet instantly works perfectly again.. it sees the wireless network, it connects just fine, and we can print wirelessly again. But as soon as we unplug the Airport Extreme and plug in the Time Capsule instead, the HP LaserJet cannot communicate at all with the Time Capsule.
All of the settings on both the Time Capsule and the Airport Extreme are IDENTICAL. The network name is NOT hidden. They both have the exact same WPA/WPA2 security settings. They are both set to 802.11n (b/g compatible). We have completely reset the HP Laserjet to its factory default settings and started from scratch; we have reset both the Time Capsule & the Airport Extreme as well.
Everything has up-to-date firmware, including the HP Laserjet 1022nw as well.
But whatever we do, the HP Laserjet 1022nw will only communicate wirelessly with the Airport Extreme, NOT the 1 TB Time Capsule.
Any ideas how to solve this problem?
    Thanks,
    Scott

UPDATE: We just temporarily solved this problem by switching our Time Capsule to 802.11b/g mode ONLY (essentially turning OFF 802.11n mode altogether). We did this by going into the Airport Utility, clicking on the "Airport" button at the top, going into the "Wireless" tab, and holding down the OPTION button while clicking on the pop-up menu for "Radio Mode"... and then choosing "802.11b/g compatible" from the list. As soon as we did this, our HP printer INSTANTLY saw our network again and joined the network on its own automatically.

  • Time capsule not working with sb6141

Hi! I just installed a new modem, the Motorola SB6141. Since I installed it I have been having problems, whereas everything with my Time Capsule and all my devices (MacBook, MacBook Air, iPhone, iPad mini) was hunky dory and in total function before installing the new modem. I called Time Warner customer service, and they were able to help me via 'renew DHCP lease' while my boyfriend's MacBook was hooked up via ethernet cord. Now that computer is the only one that will accept the wifi through the Time Capsule (I plugged the ethernet cable into the router and left the MacBook only on WiFi). My MacBook air, despite my attempts to 'renew DHCP lease' is still not working. It says it is connected to the Wi-Fi network with the IP address 10.0.1.3. I already tried forgetting the network and re-joining it, restarting everything, etc etc to no avail.
    Help!!!!!!!!

The airport routers do have issues with SB6141 modems.. there is well known issues with lots of posts.. just do a search here for sb6141 or 6121 and you will be amazed.
The Gen4 should work better than gen5 which has the most issues.. but Apple increased the problems with 7.6.4 firmware.
    Downgrade firmware to 7.6.1
You do that by holding the option key when you click version.
Factory reset when you are finished and setup the TC again.. it must be in router mode.. if you fail to get the public IP on the TC wan interface power down the modem for 20min then power it up.. wait 2min and then power cycle the TC and it should pick up the public IP.
No luck replace the modem or the TC.

  • Time Capsule not work with appletalk printers connected via ethernet?

I have seen no definitive answers to this problem posted here or on support forum. Some have suggested (but Apple refuses to confirm) that Time Capsule does not support AppleTalk devices (particularly printers) connected via Ethernet to Time Capsule. Even the "Genius Bar" guys can't tell you for sure, but this is what they suspect also.
I am a 25 year Macintosh user. I have conducted numerous experiments on this problem. What follows is my analysis and work around.
I have found no way to connect AppleTalk printers to Time Capsule by an Ethernet network connected to the back of the Time Capsule. It just doesn't work. Forget all the posts about what to try. Especially forget about resetting your printer settings. Waste of time. This leads me to conclude that those who suspect that Time Capsule does not support AppleTalk printers connected on an Ethernet network are absolutely correct. It is a hardware or software deficiency. I do not know why Apple won't just publish this in their technical specs. It would save us users a lot of time and frustration.
Now the work around. The only thing that I have found that will work is to set up an Airport Extreme to extend the wireless network created with the Time Capsule. Plug your ethernet network into the Airport Extreme, NOT into the Time Capsule. I presume (but have not tested) that this works with an Airport Express as well. I did this with my old Airport Extreme that I had left over after buying my new Time Capsule. Now the printers show up again and print fine.
Please let me know what your results are if you try this.

The problem is caused by an interaction between the Airport Extreme Update 2008-004 and the TC 7.3 firmware. I swapped out my TC for my AirPort Extreme (which sat on a shelf unused since I bought the TC). It has version 6.xx of the firmware. Immediately I could see my printer when I wirelessly connect with my MBPro and can print from it. I put the TC back and then did an Archive and Install of 7.5 on my MBPro. I did every software update except the Airport Extreme Update 2008-004. I could see my printer and print to it! After cloning my HD, I then applied the 2008-004 update to 7.5.5. That broke the wireless printing again! I tried TC firmware 7.3, 7.3.1, and 7.3.2 but not go. It is clear that my computer is trying to communicate with the printer (lots of flashing lights on my LAN switch) but no successful handshaking. I restored my hard drive from the clone and I now I can print again. Final word: if you want to print from a wireless computer connection to an AppleTalk printer connected to TC's LAN do not apply the 2008-004 update to your computer. Apple: please fix this problem.

  • Time Capsule not working with cable modem

I have a WebStar modem using Cox cable internet. When I plug the ethernet cable into my Macbook directly out of the modem, I have internet. When I plug the Ethernet cable into my Time Capsule - I have no internet and the lights on the modem do not flash. The modem is not recognizing the TC or the TC is not recognizing the modem. Any solutions??? Please help.....

    roniamarie wrote:

    It's the former.
Power everything down, including the modem. While it's powered down connect the TC's WAN port to the modem. After a few moments of peaceful contemplation, power up the modem and then the TC.
You should then be able to configure the TC with Airport Utility, if you haven't already done so. If you can't, and you need to reach the outside world again, resist the temptation to connect your computer directly to the cable modem. Connect a computer to the TC's LAN port instead.
Here's the applicable explanation from Apple:
*You've done everything right, but still can't connect to the Internet. Why?*
It's because the modem locked onto your iMac, and it will ignore anything else you plug into it until it's been reset. If you were to plug the iMac back into the modem, it would still connect to the Internet.
Fortunately, resetting a broadband modem is usually very easy -- just unplug its power supply, wait a moment, and plug it back in. After its indicator lights have gone through their startup routine, you should do the same to the AirPort base station.
Odds are that you can connect to the Internet now.

  • Time Capsule not working with itunes

Hi, was really excited to get my time capsule in the mail the other day...
My vision: to use it as an extra hard drive for my MAC laptop and my wife's vista laptop to access. To play all our music through a consolidated itunes library on the time capsule.
Problem: As soon as I try to add the songs on my TC to itunes, my itunes freezes up. I tried adding 1 song at a time (i have thousands) and it took 60 seconds to finally add 1 song. Its almost as though its taking forever to access the drive.
Is my goal possible? I watched a movie off of my TC without a problem (not using itunes). Windows media player can play the songs off the TC. I am not sure why itunes will not let me add these mp3s.
Any suggestions? (I have tried both letting itunes organize my folders and not, same difference--the colored circle appears for hours if I add a folder with >10 songs)

  • Time capsule not working with ppoe after latest airport update

I've just updated installed the latest airport update from apple and now my time capsule will not connect to the intenet vie PPoE via a BT Infinity FTTP modem.  The only thing that has changed is the software update.  Any ideas?

Tivo and Roku may really need upnp which is not provided by the apple router.
But to test this properly are you double NATting.. if you have an existing modem router did you bridge it before connecting the TC.
Tell us exactly what broadband you have, and what make and model is your modem?? Is it working as router??
If the TC is also working as router it should be fixed to work as bridge mode.
More info and we can get you going.

  • What is the best way to get a time capsule to work with a new network name?

What is the best way to get a time capsule to work with a new network name?

Well it seems that you did not explain to us the full story.  Did you change ISP's or something? Why would it not show up anymore?
What colour is the light on the time-capsule? If it's blinking amber, then you probably need to do a factory-reset. That should get it to show up again in AirPort Utility.

  • Time capsule doesnt work with telia bredband no wifi

Time capsule doesnt work with telia bredband no wifi.  Time capsule and its wifi worked in the beginning, but now it doesnt. I have tried everything without success.

There is no question.. so if it is a statement of resignation.. then if under warranty and faulty Apple will fix it/replace it.. if not dead you will be given it back.
Are you using Lion? If so did you download 5.6 airport utility?
Plug the TC into a computer by ethernet.. hold in reset for 10sec.. and then redo the setup.
Give TC and wireless short names and no spaces and no special characters.. lock the wireless to manual a/n-b/g and fix the channels.
Then if it doesn't work most likely faulty. Otherwise it is just setup is wrong.

  • Yosemite and Time capsule not working?

I just started using Yosemite on my mac book pro laptop and my mac desktop. Time machine has been fine on my desktop with my external drive which is plugged into the computer. I had no problem with new backups. But, I can't get time machine to work with my laptop and time capsule. I have another external cloud drive as well, and it will not work with that one now either. First, I can no longer just open up my backups from the folders in the finder like I used to be able to. instead all I see is a disk image with my back up and when I click on it I can not open it and get an error message (see below). Also, it will not back up at all, it give me the other error message in this picture. What is going on here? I am so frustrated. I may just have to go to the genius bar but this is so frustrating.
I also can't even access my back ups now from before even if I go in through the finder window and select the hard drive the back up do to go very far back. Only a few days. I am worried that somehow all of my backups are gone but am hoping that is not the case. It all worked fine before I installed Yosemite. I would appreciate any help or guidance.
For the first image, if I try to back up to time capsule I get the exact same message except it says could not back up to the name of my time capsule drive.

A third-party NAS is unsuitable for use with Time Machine, especially if it's your only backup. I know this isn't what you want to hear. I know that Time Machine accepts the NAS as a backup destination. I know that the manufacturer says the device will work with Time Machine, and I also know that it usually seems to work. Except when you try to restore, and find that you can't.
Apple has published a specification for network devices that work with Time Machine. None of the third-party NAS vendors, as far as I know, meets that specification. They all use the incomplete, obsolete Netatalk implementation of Apple Filing Protocol.
If you want network backup, use as the destination either an Apple Time Capsule or an external storage device connected to another Mac or to an 802.11ac AirPort base station. Only the 802.11ac base stations support Time Machine, not any older model.
Otherwise, don't use Time Machine at all. There are other ways to back up, though none of them is anywhere near as efficient or as well integrated with OS X. I don't have a specific recommendation.
If you're determined to keep using the NAS with Time Machine, your only recourse for any problems that result is to the manufacturer (which will blame Apple, or you, or anyone but itself.)
