Time change problem, New Motherboard Battery?

Hi, i have a problem with my Mac G4. Ive recentley installed OS X and EVERYTHING has been going great until today, i received this message:-
http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/4787/picture13le.png
It appears the system time and date has changed to its own accord, do i need a new motherboard battery?

  • Need to add date/time stamp to file name without time change creating new files

We have setup our application to save data once a trigger event occurs. We also need the date/time stamp as part of the file name. We used Format Date/Time String and concatenated it into the file name. It all works good, but as the time changes (seconds, minutes, etc.) it causes the Write to File to create a new file with the new filename. Is there a way to create the file and save/latch/buffer the time in the file name so that it doesn't create a new file for every second?
I've attached a shot of the relevant part of our VI. It's all in a big while loop. The data save is in a case/switch so that when it is triggered it starts saving. (The for loop is to split the data up
into 4 different files). Like I said, it all works except new files are created every second as the time changes instead of just putting it all in one file with the initial time in the file name.

I need a loop in order to use a shift register. I cannot stop the outer while loop (because it would stop the hardware from collecting data), and I cannot add loops inside which bogs down the processor to where the app stops. I've attached a simpler version of my VI which illustrates the problem. While the button is pressed (the trigger) it should save the data (in this case just cycle numbers) into one file with the initial date/time. But, you can see that it creates 1 file/second. I tried using shift registers, but without adding extra loops I can't see how to do it. Thanks

After the time change all of the appointments on my Touch Calender have moved an hour forward. My outlook calender on my desktop is still correct. When I add new appoints on my desktop they still show up a hour early on my Touch. I have reset my Touch and I have tried syncing my touch and nothing works.

  • Time Machine Problem - New Internal Hard Drive, Now Backup Takes Hours

    Need some help!
    Background.
Almost 4 year old 24" aluminum iMac; 4 gb ram; 500 gb hard drive; OS 10.6.8.
About 2 months after Alpple Care expired, the internal hard drive failed (New Year's Eve of all times!). Everything else working great.
Had a Mac technician I know install a new 750 gb drive for me. I cloned back from SuperDuper, and was ready to go. The SuperDuper external is 1.5 TB, partitioned - one half TM, the other half SuperDuper.
All apps, internet, mail - fine.
I hooked up my existing Time Macinne (probably not a good idea), and the next backup failed.
Did some research, and since I have plenty of archived backup anyway, decided that the best thing to do would be to erase the TM external, and start fresh.
Did that, and as expected, first backup took a couple hours.
    The Problem.
Now, every incremental backup takes 4 to 5 hours, even if no data has changed.
"Indexing" lasts for 45 minues; "Backing Up" reads 600,000 plus files, which also goes on for 30 or 40 minutes (approx.), and wants to Calculate changes etc forever; then the actual backup starts out at 10 kb, and in 20 minutes is at 30 kb and then after about an hour I start getting into gbs and the blue bar progresses pretty fast after that. Then "Finishing Up" takes approximately 2 - 3 hours.
    Not right.  :~(
    What I've Done to Toubleshoot.
First, I re-erased the TM external.
Then reset PRAM and did an SMC reset on the iMac.
Then backed up to TM again. The same problem persisted.
So next, I repeated that process (other than backing up), and I also deleted from the Root Library/Preferences com.apple.timemachine.plist, and from Home/Library/Preferences deleted com.apple.finder.plist. Then rebboted the iMac. Then I did a Disk Utility verify of the empty external - all was/is fine. Then I ran DiskWarrior on the iMac and all was fine; repaired permissions on the iMac from DiscWarrior as well. Then, I did another TM backup to the external, which took a couple hours since it was backing up to an empty drive.
Next 3 incremental backups still take 4 to 5 hours, even if nothing has changed on theiMac.
    The Request.
Please if anyone can give me some easy to understand step by step options I might try to get TM working correctly again, it will be most appreciated.
If I've left out any details that might assist, please also let me know.
The problem computer is at home and I'm at work, so if any logs are needed, I can post those later today (but in that event, please tell me exactly which log to post and how to isolate it from System Profiler or Console (as there are many logs to choose from and I want to provide the proper info if someone needs to see a log to assist)).
    Thanks in advance!

    Pondini,
Did every step in D2 (green box) - except did not reinstall Combo Updater which I did late last night.
After that, did a TM backup - started at 6:15.
    All apps were off.
    Sequence of events and facts:
At start, 434.03 0f 500.1 GB available on the external TM
Last backup shown - 7:58 AM; Oldest Back Up - Yesterday at 9:56 (that's the 1st backup after I reinitialized the external for the 2nd or 3rd time trying to get this thing figured out)
Upon starting and doing the backup -
Preparing 250,000 (approx.) items (too quick to get the final number) - Parenthetically, this AM it was over 600,000; probably has to do with turning off Spotlight per your D2 instructions
    Next message -
    Backing Up 6.96 GB
Hung at 2 kb to 90 kb for 20 minutes before progressing
Ultimately, at 1.78 GB the  progress bar started moving rapidly (as it should) - so this isn't a cable connection issue - the Backup phase took 22 minutes, but from 1.78 GB to 6.96 GB took only a few seconds; I have seen this precise same sequence repeatedly the past 2 days
Next - Backing Up (the candy cane blue and white progress bar)  - Preparing 140,000 items - took 12 minutes
Now shows 426.95 GB available on the external
Next - Backing Up (no count of items shown) - started at 7:05 and went until 7:45 (40 minutes)
Next - Finishing Backup (blue/white candy cane progress bar; no count of items shown) - started at 7:45 - went until sometime after 8:15 (can't give a precise time because I need to sit down and eat :~)  )
Backup completed (between bites of chicken) at 8:23.
    Over 2 hours - something isn't right.
Also, TM Prefs tells me that the Latest Backup was at 7:44 - odd.
Anyway - to take a step further, here's the TM Buddy widget info you might need:
    Successful Backup: 02:06:32.
There is no log entry or data showing.
Just as I sent this, a new backup started, and it appears to be going through the same routine, from Preparing  ....
    Gotta eat.
Please post any further instructions and I'll do what I can tonight.
    Thanks!
What is the problem? How do I speed this mother up?
    Thanks!

  • Display problem, new motherboard.

I am posting really to vent. I have a sick iMac with display problems. It's got vertical white lines and loss of colors. ChumpUSA indicates that the motherboard will need to be replaced and it's going to take four to five business days to get the part.
I purchased the iMac for a client who I encouraged to switch. They trust me and have purchased two other Macs. They are doing fine, so they aren't soured yet. It's a difficult position in which to find myself. Computers have trouble and need to be fixed, knock wood, I've had very few hardware problems in my 10+ years using Apple products.
I'm just in a bad spot with the failure of the motherboard (poor quality?) and the length of time my client is without a computer for one of his employees.
We will work around it, of course. I just don't see why it would take a week to get a part.
Any advise or words of encouragement are appreciated.

Sorted myself but will post solution in case others need it.
Remembered what I had done ages ago when looking at how to stop all recent pages appearing on a new tab.
To get new SEARCHES appearing in a new tab go to address bar and type
    about:config.................ignore the Dragons
then go to browser:search:openintab and set to true

  • ICal calendar sync -time change problem

It's happened again. We change our clocks and when I connect my iPod mini to my iBook it syncs the calendars BUT it moves the time of every event up one hour. My 9 a.m. appointments are now 10 a.m. and so on. I've tried changing the default time zone in iCal, changing event times. Nothing helps.

I've had the same problem with a few iPods...
    Solution:
Connect the iPod, go into preferences in iTunes for the iPod and UNCHECK the sync calendars option
Next, open the iPod in the Finder, TRASH the entire calendars folder, Empty the Trash....
Now, go back to iTunes and REcheck the option to sync calendars. iTunes will replace the calendar files on the iPod with the correct times.
I have NEVER had to reenter all of the repeating events using this method. Takes about 2 minutes.

  • Time change problem in sync'ing w/Outlook Calendar

I have 2ndG iPod touch, 2.2.1 software and iTunes 8. Each time I sync the touch with my Outlook (2007) calendar, the touch changes the time zone from Eastern to California time for each event on my touch calendar. I've checked, rechecked and triple checked the time zone listed under Settings -> General (says New York) as well as under Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars (time zone support also shows New York). For example: Outlook calendar states the event begins at 7:15pm, after sync'ing the Calendar on touch says the same event begins at 10:15pm. I've manually changed each even in the past but since I schedule 2 months in advance, it's a real hassle to keep fixing them.
Is there another time zone change that I need to make? Why is this happening?
    Thanks.

I've called Apple Support. The suggestion is to reboot my iPod; start iTunes; connect my iPod; check the settings in iTunes for calendar (did already but I'll try it again); turn off my iPod & disconnect from my computer; reconnect my iPod while it is "off" to my computer while iTunes is running; then sync again and see what happens. If it doesn't work I'm supposed to call them back. Since today is a 12hr work day, it might be tomorrow before I have time to try this and report back.
    Thanks for your help.

  • New Motherboard for Pavilion dv4000

    I have a Pavilion dv4000 from 2005.
Lately the video and sound is getting choppy and the whole operating system it is getting slow, especially on start up. (done cleaning and defragging).
I am sure it is time for a new motherboard. Currently the computer has 403915-00 motherboard. Maker, I am not sure of.
Where can I purchase this motherboard?  and or can I use a different / better motherboard instead of the original model it came with?

    sandall,
Sorry, but there isn't a new modern motherboard you can install in your IQ512. These motherboard are custom built to fit in a specific AIO case and use a specific set of hardware. A new motherboard would require a new case and possibly new hardware.
    Please send KUDOs

  • New motherboard and battery re-setup TIME MACHINE issue

i am trying to run a time machine backup after having gotten a new motherboard and a new battery at mac repair and this time machine prompt is confusing me. does anyone know what it means and what i should do with it?

ai. i am feeling very stupid today or i am dealing with too many computer issues.
i have a new motherboard which means it thinks i have a new machine. from the url it appears that /adding/ backups to the existing backups is not possible?
i mean, the last two paragraphs here are very confusing. is my case the first case or the second case or do i have an option here?
"If you are replacing an old Mac with a new one, and want the new one to use the backups from the old computer, click Inherit Backup.
If you plan to continue to use your old computer, click Create New Backup to preserve the old computer’s backup history and start separate backups for the new computer.
i am supposed to click "inherit backup history" even though "create new backup" preserves the old computer's backup history?
for some reason i am not understanding the options here but i THINK i want to try and retain any files that may have been changed or accidentally deleted on the computer so i can go back and retrieve them (if this is possible of course).  AND if it isn't possible shouldn't i be wiping the drive clean and starting again??
    THANKS

  • 'New' Exchange Battery not holding charge - Date & Time problems

I recently received a 'new' exchange battery for my 2001 500mhz white ibook (OSX 10.3.9, 320ram), as part of the Battery Exchange program, and now I'm having some new problems.
Since I started using the battery a few weeks ago, I've been having constant problems with the Date & Time reseting itself to 1969. I reset to current time, but when I turn on again, it's resets back again. Also, this battery is not holding a charge very well, lasting only about 40 minutes after fully charged (My old battery lasted 2 hours).
I calibrated the battery when i first received it, and I've reset the PMU twice, but no luck.
Thanks in advance for any help & advice....

Is there any such program for the G3s?
Only if you replaced your original battery with one from Apple within a certain time frame and within a specific range of serial numbers. Check out the details here:

  • Can I change a new battery for my MacBook Pro 15' Retina? How?

Can I change a new battery for my MacBook Pro 15' Retina? How?

    Hi!
About a month ago, my MBPr 15", mid 2012 (Model Identifier10,1) showed, at first, Battery Service warning and on the next day X over the battery icon with Battery Not Available message in the status. MBP would run only and while the charger was plugged in, plug led would be always green, when connected. Battery test third party sw would not detect the battery, any longer.
Replacing upper case with battery/keyboard/trackpad, as per Apple,  in my country was too expensive, over 1000 USD, did't make any sense to me, so I've chosen DIY option (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLhHSIej9fs) with all necessary precautions like tools, ESD protection grounded pad in place and ordered "new" replacement battery from Hong Kong on Ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/400699766989?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STR K%3AMEBIDX%3AIT).
Yesterday I came in new packing/sealed, I installed it, plugged the power cable on, plug led would turn green and then orange, I thought it's ok, but once system booted, I saw again X over battery icon and "Battery Not Available". I checked all the hints on internet, tried several times SMC and EPRON resets, no success. I filed complaint to Ebay supplier, he replied that battery undergone test prior the shipment, but ready for return and refund.
So, I can make another try and buy the battery from Ebay but what if the problem is with my logic board? From one hand charger plug led lights orange when connected to MBP, on another hand System doesn't see the battery at all: No battery in the System info/Hardware/Power. it works absolutely fine when plugged-in to charger. I ran extended AHT (over pressed "D" key while powering on) twice with No Problem in return. So, my question is does it ultimately mean that Logic Board and power circuits are all fine and the whole thing is about "new bad" battery? I there any way to entirely test Logic board and narrow down problem origin?
Thank you for attention in advance,

  • New Motherboard  problems backing up

The technician replaced my motherboard and now my Time Machine says "This backup is too large for the backup volume..." I reselected the TM hard drive to make sure. It only has 6 gigs of blank space. But I just want it to work like it did before where it replaces the changed files. I tried that link on macoshints.com and I just couldn't get it to work right in the terminal. It just says no such file etc.
I would love any help anyone can give me. Thank you

If you weren't successful in changing your MAC address in Time Machine using the directions in the Mac OS X Hints 10.5: Repair Time Machine after logic board changes post, Time Machine will try to make a completely new backup because of your new motherboard. That is probably why your Time Machine disk got overly full. This can cause all sorts of serious problems so launch the Time Machine interface and delete some old files in your backups that you are absolutely sure you don't need, leaving at least fifteen percent free space on your Time Machine Disk. Then launch Disk Utility and Verify your Time Machine Disk. If there are errors repeat Repair until Disk Utility reports no errors.
The next issue is the problem of changing your MAC address. If your hard drive name has spaces in it go to the Mac OS X Hints article and scroll down to the "Minor correction (escape the spaces!)" comment and follow those directions.
If that doesn't do the trick, you might want to ask on the Using Mac OS X Leopard Forum. More people who understand UNIX really well read that forum so it's more likely that someone who might be able to help you with changing your MAC address will see your post.

  • Problems after new New Power battery

Just installed a new high capacity New Power battery in my G4 1.42 GHz. I did the PMU reset, and battery calibration as recommended by New Power.
However, now, instead of going into sleep mode when battery runs down, the computer turns off. This happens when the battery gets down to around 15 minutes on the menu bar.
I don't mind (at least not too much) the computer turning off before the minute counter gets down to the end, but not going into sleep mode is a problem, as I lose whatever I'm working on.
This problem has probably been covered on this board, but I haven't been able to find it.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Ed

Same problem! Does your battery icon in the menu bar go red at about one hour run time left? What about the Amperage number in the About this Mac - is it a negative number?
