Time offset (DST?) in CF server now() values.

This is WEIRD.
We have two CF servers, ver 7.? and 8.? on different boxes.
7.0 is production, 8.0 developer.
In the 7.0 server we see the value of now() being 1 hour different from the value of now() in the 8.0 server.
Both servers within the Windows environment show the same time value in the system tray.
Nowhere do we see - never looked for it - a Daylight Savings time override in CF 8.0.  Is there one?
Why should it be different than Windows itself.
Both servers are running Windows 2000 Server.  Ok, they boxes aren't QUITE as old!
Our workaround is to save data to our DB server based on a getdate() value in the DB server rather than bogus data.
Are we overlooking something REALLY simple?
Robert

Really appreciate all these suggestions ...

  • How to send timer job email to "assigned to" feild value in a task list?

    Hi All,
    How to send timer job email  to "assigned to" field value in a task list if due date is after two days from now?

    Create a SharePoint Designer Workflow and use "pause until date" option when an new item is created/update.
    Using Server Object model, I believe you can create the timer job from item event receiver.

  • JSP page display wrong time when compared to the server time

    Hi,
    This problem seems to weird but it is happening
    I have web application running where time is displayed in the page. In this application time is very critical. Currently, time is an hour behind the orginal time.
    I checked the server it is displaying proper time.
    As a matter of troubleshooting, I wrote a java program and run the program in the same server, where the application is running. The java program returns me proper time , but JSP is still displaying time an hour behind. To trouble shoot further, I created a test jsp page to just display the time and accessed the time and the jsp displayed wrong time as well, an hour behind.
    I am running[ tomcat 4.0.3 and j2sdk1.4.3 in suse linux enterprise server 9.0
    My Java program
    import java.util.*;
    import java.text.*;
    public class TestDate

              DateFormat DF = new SimpleDateFormat( "dd/MM/yyyy");
    DateFormat DT = new SimpleDateFormat("hh:mm aa");
              SimpleDateFormat fmt=new SimpleDateFormat("HH.mm");
              Calendar cal= Calendar.getInstance();
              java.util.Date dt=cal.getTime();
              String curdt=DT.format(dt);
              System.out.println("Server Time" + curdt + "\n");
              int hh = cal.get(Calendar.HOUR);
              int mm = cal.get(Calendar.MINUTE);
              int aa = cal.get(Calendar.AM_PM);
              System.out.println("Time" + hh +":"+mm+":"+aa+"\n");
         }catch(Exception e) {
         e.printStackTrace();
    This display Time3:30:1
    My JSP Page
    <%@ page import="java.util.*,java.text.*"%>
    <%
    Calendar calen;
    calen = Calendar.getInstance();
    int hh=calen.get(Calendar.HOUR);
         int mm=calen.get(Calendar.MINUTE);
         int aa=calen.get(Calendar.AM_PM);
    %>
    <%=hh%> <%=mm%> <%=aa%>
    This display 2 30 1
    When I run Date in linux server it gives 3:30 PM EST 2004
    I am really confused, why this is happening, If you have any solutions or idea please post the solution.

    My guess is that the weirdness is caused by Daylight savings time.
    I will presume that you and the server are in the same timezone :-)
    Alternatively it could be caused by getting a different Locale.
    Try the following
    Print out "date.getTime()" value (ie long representing number of millis)
    They should be the same (or close) in both the app and in JSP
    Try simple date format in your JSP as well - what does that result in?
    Print the calendar object, and look for the difference.
    It might be in Locale, Timezone, or whether DST is set or not.
    Hope this helps,

  • LabVIEW Run Time Engine and ActiveX Automation Server

    Hi,
    I have a question related to LabVIEW Run Time Engine and ActiveX Automation Server:
    We have a tool developed in LabVIEW and TestStand. End user interface is a LabVIEW GUI (it's an executable) which executes TestStand sequences. Some TestStand sequences call lower level LabVIEW VIs.
    Everything works fine with LabVIEW installed, but I was wondering if I could run this tool on deployment machine with only LabVIEW run time engine installed. We are using LabVIEW 6.1 and with only the run time engine installed, I get the error message: "Unable to launch the 'LabVIEW.Application' ActiveX automation server ".
    BTW, we are planning to upgrade the versions soon.
    Is it possible to make things work only with the run time engine?
    Thank you.

    Thanks for the response, Brian.
    I did upgrade to LabVIEW 8.0 and TestStand 3.5. Everything works fine on the development computer where LabVIEW and TestStand is installed. On the target computer in the lab, I installed LV RTE 8.0 and TestStand 3.5, and now when a VI is called in a sequence file, I get the following:
    RunState.PreviousStep.Result.Error.Code  -18002
    RunState.PreviousStep.Result.Error.Msg  "LabVIEW: The VI is not executable"
    So, the executable opens and works fine (which means that the LV RTE is installed properly), but when a sequence calls a low level VI, it does not make it through.
    comments/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

  • Time Capsule as a Media Server

    I repurposed an old 500Gb Time Capsule into a media server by placing an iTune Library (160 movies and 5000 songs) on its HD. I can access from any Mac in the house by pressing OPTION and selecting the iTunes Library.
    Is there a way to access the iTunes library on the Time Capsule from an iPad or AppleTV?  I can play a movie or music from a Mac and AirPlay it to an AppleTV but would like to 'cut out the middle man' if possible and access directly from an iPad or AppleTV.
    Is it possible?

    Yes, I’m using my TC as a media sever, both audio and video, without any problem. At my home I have two laptops running Windows XP, one Scaleo media center running Windows MCE and a MacBookPro running Leapord. It was a hasle keeping media and docs upto date for all and backups as well. TC solved the problem. Sharing videos , docs and pictures was straight forward. For sharing audio on iTunes, I had to make more than one attempt. Now I have same iTunes libraries on three computers sharing mp3s from TC, I can even play same song on two computers at the same time. Only thing I did was unchecked ”Keep iTunes forlder organised” and ”Copy files to iTunes folder when adding to library” under the ”Advanced” tab of ”Preference”.

    What is your OS name and version ?
    In general you can solve these issues by configuring NTP service running on your cluster nodes to be synchronized with other NTP servers. For example on Linux please read "Oracle RAC and NTP" in http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/linux/linux-ntp-configuration.php#oracle-rac-and-ntp.

  • What is the maeaninf of lead time offset in BOM

    Can anybodye xplain me the maeaning of lead time offset in BOM

    Hi,
    In situations where orders have long lead times, this scheduling procedure can result in components being provided much earlier than they are actually needed in the production process. To avoid this situation, the dependent requirements date of the subordinate component can be rescheduled by the follow-up time. With the follow-up time the dependent requirements date of the components is displaced from the order start date further into the future.
    The lead-time offset (in workdays) for the component in relation to the start date for production of the superior assembly. This value is not included in lead-time scheduling for a task list.
    Displacing the Dependent Requirements Date in the Future
    If you have entered a positive value in the bill of material, the dependent requirements date of the component is displaced in the future, starting from the order start date of the assemblyu2019s planned order.
    Order start date of the assembly: 11.30.1999
    Lead-time offset: 2+
    Dependent requirements date of the component: 12.02.1999
    Bringing Forward the Dependent Requirements Date
    If you have entered a negative value, the dependent requirements date will be brought forward.
    Order start date of the assembly: 11.30.1999
    Lead-time offset: 2-
    Dependent requirements date of the component: 11.28.1999

  • Override web.xml With Server Specific Values

    Not sure if here or the OC4J/J2EE forum is most appropriate place for this question:
    We're currently working on migrating from the old jserv setup to 9.0.4 app server with OC4J. We have the infrastructure installed and are managing the application through Enterprise Manager. In my web.xml file I provide initialization parameters to one of my servlets using something similar to the following:
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>util.GlobalPropertyManager</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>util.GlobalPropertyManager</servlet-class>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>mhris.batch.outputdir</param-name>
    <param-value>d:/dev/java/mhris/defaultroot/batch/</param-value>
    </init-param>
    </servlet>
    Now, this directory path I've provided is only good on my local workstation. When I deploy to my UNIX production servers, I need to override this with a valid path depending on the server being deployed to (no, they don't all have the same directory setup, yeah it's a pain). These servers include our production boxes, development server, test, training, etc.
    Currently under JSERV, I provide server specific values in the Global Init Parameters section of my property file (don't remember why we didn't use the Servlet Init Parameters property instead). This works very well since this file is not touched when we land updates, so the values are set once for each server.
    Under OC4J, I understand that I can override the values in web.xml by using an orion-web.xml file BUT it appears that this file resides in the WAR I deploy, so each server will get the same orion-web.xml rather than maintaining its own set of values.
    Is there another .xml file I can use to provide these initalization parameters? global-web-applications.xml looked promising but I wasn't completely sure I could put values for my application in it or where exactly they should go (ie. inside the existing <web-app> section or if I should create a second one specifically for my app).
    Any ideas or will I have to reploy a different orion-web.xml file to each of my servers?
    Appreciate the assistance,
    Michael

    Michael,
    First, I would just modify the web.xml during each deployment.
    Second, I would recommend using the same relative path with the web-app context. Then, you can use the Servlet API to retrive the real path of the web-app context.
    I don't think it is necessary to use orion-web.xml or other properties files.

  • Sysjobhistory server column value

    Anyone know the source for the server column value in the sysjobhistory table?  It isn't from the sys.servers view.

    I realize a reference point might have been helpful:
    The server was created in DNS as server03.  For application purposes the development team wanted it called production03 so a DNS alias was created causing server03 to resolve to production03.  A production03 alias was created in SS Configuration
    Manager.
    The following was executed in SSMS:
    sp_dropserver
    'server03'
    go
    sp_addserver
    'production03','local'
    go
    The Database engine service was restarted.  SELECT @@Servername returns production03.  In SQL Agent job history the name server03 appears in the server column in job history and now you know the reason
    for the question.

  • Time Machine on Snow Leopard Server

    I would like to setup a backup service using Time Machine of a Mac Pro Snow Leopard Server (10.6.5) to an external hard drive connected with USB. Are there any gotcha's with this type of setup that I need to be aware of? My faint memory recalls an issue with Time Machine backing up a server.
    The server is mainly used for file sharing in a small (<10) person office.

    Are you backing-up the clients, or the server, or both?
    Like most folks here, I'm not very familiar with the Server product, but I understand TM can do either or both.
    You may find better advice in the Server forums, at: http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=96

  • Will I loose existing data on the Time Capsule if I use it now for Time Machine also?

    Till now I only save photos, music and movies on my AirPort Time Capsule 2 TB. From now on I also want to use it for Time Machine Backups also. But I am not sure if it my data and the backup will exist in parallel.

    You can drag and drop files to the Time Capsule using the Finder.
    Open Macintosh HD or the Finder and look for the Time Capsule icon under the SHARED heading on the left side of window.
    Click on the Time Capsule icon and a folder representing the drive will appear in the window to the right.
    Double click the folder to mount the drive on the desktop.

  • Can Time Capsule be used as a time machine on a Windows Server.  Is this possible, and how do i configure this?

    I like to use the new TC in my office as a time machine on a Windows Server.  Is this possible, and how do i configure this?
    In fact my plan is to make the first back up by connecting to the server via an ethernet cable, but thereafter i like to bring the TC to my home and perform the incremental backups over the internet.  This is for safety reasons, in case for example the office is broken into, or flooded, or fire (god forbid).
    I sincerely hope it is possible, and not complicated.
    Alternatively i would not mind replacing our current Windows server 2003 with an Apple server, but all computers in the network (except mine) are Windows 7 or 8. Would it work?
    Thanks in advance.
    Paris

    I will consider the WD My Cloud device.
    It is a NAS.. it is designed to provide a cheap centralised file storage.
    What is NAS?? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network-attached_storage
    A file server like windows uses heaps of power to do very little.. in your setup.. In most setups like SBS it will do exchange server and provide a heap of useful connectivity to your clients.
    Since you are not using the windows server in anything but simple file serving you can replace with a NAS..
    Problem with the TC is, it is a router with a hard disk inside.. designed specifically for Time Machine.. it fails to provide what a NAS does.. easy access to any clients, local or remote.. TC is designed by apple for apple and the rest of world is not really invited to the party.
    It provides no backup.. no data protection.. and is so specifically apple orientated I do not think it works at all well with windows.
    For a simple example.. windows will have file issues with large files.. because it is only NTserver FAT32 to windows.. bad luck if you have large files.. !!
    Plainly if you use active directory in windows that facility is gone.
    I just like Apple products, find them more stable than Windows and easier to use.  Plus i can access the server from home if it is an Apple Server.
    If you only need remote access for yourself that is fine.. too bad for the windows clients I guess.
    Or you open it up to the world and bad luck for security.
    Apple do not design for mixed environment.. in fact with the TC there is no provision for windows access officially at all.. so anything you do is a fudge.
    You can use the TC for your Mac backups within the network.. that is fine. Apple provide no software at all to help with your windows clients.

  • Can I use a time capsule as a itunes server to which my Atv v2 can connect to?

    I have currently an Apple tv second generation, which streams video's from my Itunes computer when it's powered on. What I want to accomplish is to have all my library on a NAS somewhere and that my appletv can stream my whole library without any computer turned on. Can the time capsule do this?
    Thanks,

    No.  A Time Capsule has no media serving logic.
