Time Out Functionality in APEX

Currently I am working on APEX 3.1 and using OID (10.1.2) for LDAP Authentication.
I want to implement time out functionality in my application.
Ex: If users logs into to APEX Application and keeping the page ideal for 15 min. When user tries to access the application again. I need to redirect him to SSO page.
Can anyone suggest me, How can I achieve this functionality.
Thanks in advance
Regards

Hello Balaji,
The easiest thing would be: Upgrade to version 3.2. Then session timeout is out-of-the-box....

  • Time out functionality in forms 10g

    Hi all,
I am trying to implement time out functionality in forms 10g.
    i have created a form tout.fmb
in when_new_form_instance trigger : i have written the code like
    declare
    v_url varchar2(200);
    begin
    v_url := 'http://www.google.com';
    WEBUTIL_SESSION.ENABLE_REDIRECT_ON_TIMEOUT(v_url);
    end;
i have attached webutil.pll to it. while running the form it is giving the error as library cannot be attached.
Also. when i run it through Unix application server, it gives the alert window showing message "Please acknowledge" .
    Could anybody please help?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Neha

So you have subclassed the webutil portion of the webutil.olb into your form.
Set the webutil.pll up as a library on said form.
    Compiled without error.
Run the form in your developer environment using a URL
    Then got this error ??
Just confirming the path you have travelled to get to here.

  • Time out function in VISA configure serial port vi

I have some doubts regarding the time out functionality of "VISA configure serial port vi":
    1) I have set the time out value as 10s while initializing the port using this vi. Does this mean that for any Rx operation happening on the serial port, it will wait for 10s for the data to be received?
    2) Is this waiting functionality also valid on "bytes at port" vi which I am using before reading the port data?
Because in my application, the control at serial port is actually not waiting for 10s and is coming out before the desired time out (10s). Do I need to set this time out anywhere else apart from initialization at "VISA configure serial port vi"??
Can anyone please tell the steps to set this timeout for the serial port?
    Thanks in advance!

    1. A read will return when the first of the following is satisfied:
       a. The number of bytes at byte count has been received.
       b. The termination character (if enabled) has been received.
       c. An error is detected.
       d. The timeout time has elapsed.
I am not sure what happens if handshaking is enabled and the other device pauses communication.
    2. No. Bytes at port returns immediately. This is a status check and it would not make sense for a timeout to apply.
Without seeing your code and the data the remote device is sending, we can only guess. My first guess would be that you have termination characters enabled (default) and a termination character appears in your data.

  • Time out functionality in Portal

    Hi All,
If my portal is inactive for some fixed time, the user should be logged off automatically and an information message should be displayed on the login page.
    How to achieve this ?
    Regards,
    Nikhil

I think there is no such timeout functionality...for portal..
Portal sessions are cookie based. On successful logon to the portal, the Portal issues a SAP logon ticket, with a default validity of 8 hours. That is a users session can atmost be of length 8 hours. Timout of the user's session is not possible.
Also if you reduce the default length of session, you will have to adjust the expiration time of the SAPlogon ticket by setting the "Lifetime of SAP Logon Ticket" in "Security settings" at "System Administration" --> "System Configuration" --> "UM Configuration".
However, please note that the cookie will eventually expire after this time setting, whether or not the user is idle. He has to renew the ticket after expiration.

  • How to change ADF default session time out behavior to count down

the ADF default session time out will show a message before some time set in the web.xml , after this time anther alert will show the time out message.
But our recruitment what use one message dialog first show the session will be out then count down the time at last show the session time out message.
Dose ADF provide interface to change this ?

    Hi Sudipto:
If using pure JS and Html I can write thousand way to implement session time out function , but we use ADF :
ADF limit user to do a lot of thing but only use itself way , it is very hard to change its component's behavior and also hard to get doc introducing how to change its behavior though it can be change.
So what I want to know if there any interface ADF left to change itself session time out behavior , I think your answer is no.

  • Function SCAN_Op times out but it's not consistent.

I have a PXI 1000B chassis connected to a SCXI 1001 via a PXI6031E MIO card. I have 6 1102c modules plugged into the SCXI chassis. Each module is connected to a BNC 2095 (where my field inputs come in)I have it setup to mux 192 channels into one A/D. I wrote a small program in LabWindows to get familiar with setting up the scan list. The function SCAN_Op times out but not consistently. I have included my code. Can you suggest anything?
    Thank you.

    Hello;
The best way to start the development of your application is to take a look at the NI-DAQ shipping examples at C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\examples\VisualC\SCXI.

  • Dequeue Element Function: If it times out, what value is sent on the "element" wire?

    Hi,
If you use a Dequeue Element function with a time out and if the function times out, what value is sent on the "element" wire?  Is it the default value for the element type?  Or something else?
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes, it's the default value of the data type. That's the default behavior for any terminal which has undefined behavior (such as what would happen if you try to index a negative element from an array).

  • Loading Large Data Set Times Out In APEX

I am trying to load a large text file using APEX 3 I am using a 1g file which has about 50,000 rows. After about 5 minutes the browser times out. Any ideas nothing in the alert log so it is not database related. Here is the error in the Apache Log
mod_plsql: Long running URL [pls/apex/wwv_flow.accept] timed out

    Steve,
The Apache process is timing out. Most likely this is set to 300 in your httpd.conf (the default).
You can extend it to more than 300, but if I were in your shoes and you had the proper access, I'd use some other means to load 1GB of data (e.g., SQL*Loader).

  • How to find the year ago measure with out using time series functions

    Hello Madan,
    Thanks for the reply.
It still doesn't consider the product into account.
    My columns are as below
Prod Week End DATE Current Sales Prior Sales % Change
    A 12/4/2010 100 0
    A 12/11/2010 200 100
    A 12/18/2010 300 200
B 12/4/2010 400 300(this value is not for prod B, i want this to b 0 aswell. But we get product A's last sale amount)
Is there any way this can be done. I have tried evaluate,MSUM.
I cannot build a time dimension as all I have is a view.

  • Planning Sequence/Function times out

    Hello,
I have the following issue. I have a planning layout and many planning sequences/functions attached to the push buttons on the layout. The problem is that when I am trying to execute any of the planning sequences attached to the buttons (click the button), the "wheel keeps spinning" and eventually the application times out without computing anything. it works fine in Development and QA systems, but not in P. the only difference between the 3 environments is the Support Stack level. in P we are still on SPS 11 and D and QA is SPS 13.
I suppose there can be multiple reasons for why this is happening, but what should I be looking for first? Why does it time out? It does not seem to matter how many records PF is processing, because it times out with 4 records and 40K records. Any ideas or pointers to look at?
    Thanks

    Hi AG,
please try if your planning sequences run in the back-end report RSPLS_PLSEQ_EXECUTE. If you have variables you need to define a variant to start it in the back-end. You should measures the time here ...
And what kind of time out are you getting? Is it a portal time out? In this case you should consider that in you production system much more data may be read and that executing the planning sequences may take longer -> time out ...
    Hope this helps ...

  • Captcha not functioning - possible time-out?

    Hi Guys,
We have a lengthy registration form with Captcha module at the end.
We get many customers complaining that the captcha does not work (letters entered are not correct).
I have first hand experience with this issue
The letters entered are correct, yet it will respond with an error that it does not match.
Refreshing the form at this time does not solve the issue.
One has to restart the browser and then it will work.
My feeling is that due to the time it takes to complete the form, a time-out might occur.
Have you had issues similar to this, and do you know what could be done to resolve this?
    Thanks

Your right, two long on the form.
What you need to do is either.
    1. Review the form and see if it is totally needed to have all the fields, if there is design changes to speed the process of the form to be filled in etc. One example of this is if you got line after line with one field per line. Multiple fields per row etc shortens the length of the form, relating fields better to each other etc. First and Last names can be combined to full name and so on.
    2. Use the multi step form process to have stages of forms thus when on the final element with captcha you do not have the issue your experiencing.

  • RCA Connection Pool idle Time-Out takes no effect !

    My question description goes here.
According to JCA specification, I developed my 'ManagedConnectionImpl' class from the interface 'ManagedConnection'. I realize the 'destroy()' function to send out logout request to the EIS.
Then I deployed the connector in Sun Java System Application Server, I noticed there are two parameters in Connection Pool part, they are:
    1. Idle Timeout. It said it's the maximum time that a connection can remain idle in the pool. I assume the connection will be removed after the specific time expired and before it's removed it will call the recallable function, 'destroy()', in my concrete class, 'ManagedConnectionImpl'.
    2. Pool Resize Quantity. it said it's number of connections to be removed when pool idle time expired.
I am weird about it. I think EIS had itself session control strategy, if the specific session time-out expired, it will invalidate this session. So I think we will set 'Idle Timeout' in application server to be shorter than the EIS session time-out. If the 'Idle Timeout' in application server expired, it should remove all connections inside otherwise maybe the connection with invalid session will exist! (the background knowledge is our system will return back soap fault when it meets invalid session, so the invalid connections will not be removed by switching on your configuration item, 'On Any Failure')
So I set "inital and minimum pool size" to 8, "maximum pool size" to 32 and "Pool Resize Quantity" to 32. (I expect AS to remove all when pool idle time expired)
After deploying, I send out requests at the first round and wait for the time expired but I can't see the desired logout requests from pool automatically even one. Firstly I guess if my recallable function definition is wrong but when I shut down the Application Server, the desired logout requests are sent out from pool automatically. So I think my recallable function definition is workable.
    What's your comments on it?
    P.S.
I am using Sun Java System Application Server 8.1.
    Thanks in advance!

Whether it's related with the initial and minimum number parameter? Although I found it will not be created during AS start-up and will be created at the first request.

  • Request time out when creating content database

    Hello,
my problem is, that i cannot create a SharePoint content database via the central administration.
    My Setup is the following:
    SharePoint Server 2013 Enterprise Farm
    1x Applikation Server/WFE (Windows Server 2012 SP 1)
1x Database Server MSSQL Server 2012 (Windows Server 2012 SP 1)
    1x TFS 2013 (Windows Server 2012 SP 1)
all of them are hosted in the same Hyper-V Environment. It is not the fasted Hyper-V Environment existing on planet earth.
The weirdest part of the problem is, i am able to create a content database via powershell.
I am running in some kind of time out issue related to the IIS and CA of that Applikation Server.

The fact that i am able to create a content database through powershell sorts out permissions problems. I am certain of that because the w3wp.exe and the powershell.exe used for both creations were run under the same user.
The timeout always happens aroud 120 seconds after i started the creation. The creation via powershell takes about 3,5 minutes.
Here for the folks that ask me, why i haven't asked google or bing or some other search engine.
I tried the solutions suggested here
    http://www.sharepointpals.com/post/Error-while-Creating-Web-Application-through-Central-Administration , here
    http://anthonyspiteri.net/sharepoint-2010-web-ui-timeout-creating-web-application-quick-fix/ and here
    http://blogs.ibs.com/Duane.Odum/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=33
which i thought pointed me to the right solution.
But those post unfortunatly didnt worked out.
I also tried to alter the web.config files (i know that isn't recommended or supported, but it didn't change anything so those are back to normal as well)
    So here are my question:
Can you guys help me solve this issue?
Are there any other places where timeouts can be managed or defined?
P.S.: I am new to using this forum. so pls don't crucify me for doing a mistake.
P.S.S: My english is very poor also :D
    With best regards
    Simon

Be careful with settings like these because there may be a much deeper issue at hand. I have had an issue with a customer that manifests itself as a timeout on a site collection. It was very hard to track since it didn't happen frequently. We engaged Microsoft
Support to find out the root cause but all they could point at is a general network issue that pertains to authentication. After digging deeper, we found out that the network issue was caused by a saturated network connectivity to the domain controller that
impacts a site collection when the database is making an authentication call. Keep this solution as more of a quick fix but be sure to conduct a deeper investigation of the real root cause

  • Sporadic issues with wireless connection (dhcpcd times out)

I'm using a wireless usb adaptor Dlink DWA 110 (chipset rt73). It can connect fine some times, but many times it times out on dhcpcd. Raising the time out time causes it to hold indefinitely on the message "offered 192.168.0.132 from 192.168.0.1". Analyzing the dmesg, I see

I've tried googling, but no suggestion seems to work. Any help?

This is basically a workaround, but still. You can try hold_connect script to automatically watch connection status. It can be found here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=103139. Just add "iwconfig wlan0 power off" string in function connect under "sudo netcfg down ..." line.
