Time Phased Replenishment

Hi Gurus,
I'm currently testing the replenishment of SAP retail for my client. I know for sure that we're going to have to use Time-Phased Planning to plan deliveries. I've created a planning calendar and delivery calendar for this purpose.
What I can't figure out is how I can factor in manual re-order point planning the system. I've read in some blogs that I'll just have to give a value for the Re-order Point field then the RP run will take care of the reorder point planning. I did just that and the RP run doesn't seem to recognize that my stocks are way below the reorder point and it doesn't create a PR for this.
Are there settings that I need to configure for the Time-Phased Planning to integrate with Manual Reorder Point Planning?
Below is the setup that I've created for my RP testing:
RP Type Z2 (Time-phased Planning) see attachment for RP config
Lot-size EX
Planning Calendar Z01 (Daily)
Delivery Calendar DLV (Period start is Wed & Fri)
Forecast D
Period Ind. T (Daily)
Article 72
Existing Stock - 1,800 ea
Reorder Point - 2,000 ea
I've created a forecast via MP30 for the next 12 days since there are no consumption patterns yet.
RP Run (MD03) doesn't create a procurement proposal for the reorder point.
Please help.

Hi,
Try to tick the indicator of "Reorder point" in your MRP type Z2, and then check the result after MRP run again.

    Dear Experts,
What is meant by Time Phased Planning?
Pls tell me both functionally & how we do it in SAP...as i am an Abapper
    Kind Regards

    Dear,
If a vendor always delivers a material on a particular day of the week, it makes sense to plan this material according to the same cycle in which it is delivered, but displaced by the delivery time. This is possible with the time-phased planning procedure.
Materials that are planned using the time-phased planning technique are provided with an MPR date in the planning file. This date is set when creating a material master record and is re-set after each planning run. It represents the date on which the material is to be planned again and is calculated on the basis of the planning cycle entered in the material master record. For materials that are planned using the time-phased planning procedure, the two indicators, the total change indicator and the net change planning indicator are irrelevant. Therefore, they are not set by the system even if changes that are relevant to the planning run are made.
The system uses the interval between the MRP date and the availability date of the next MRP date for the requirements calculation in the planning run. Existing stocks must cover this interval. You must bear in mind that if nothing is ordered at the first MRP date, you have to wait for the next MRP date before you can plan and order this material again. Therefore, if an order proposal is created during this planning run, it will not be available until the end of the interval.
The requirements are calculated using the following formula:
forecast value for the interval (cycle + purchasing department processing time + planned delivery time + goods receipt processing time) + safety stock

  • Adding time phased actual work to fixed work task with finish no later than constraint

I am using MS Project Pro 2010, no service packs are installed. I have a 40 hour fixed work task, auto scheduling is on, and I've set a finish no later than constraint 4 weeks into the future. I have assigned a single resource with assignment units of 1.0
and Project correctly determines a 5 day duration and schedules the task from the start of the project with the task start date the same as project start date and 8 hrs per day.
I switch to task usage view with the time phased time scale set to weeks (middle) and days (bottom) and add the actual work field. Calculate on edit is selected in project options. When I add 8 hours to day one (which matches the planned work), the planned
work on the last day of the duration changes to 2 hours and the remaining 30 hours is spread at 10 hrs each to the three days in the middle and the duration changes to 4.2 days. Work stays the same as expected.
The behavior I expected is that after I add the 8 hours of actual work nothing would change since remaining work is 32 hours and there are 4 days left in the schedule and the work is already scheduled for 8 hrs/day. When I continue to add actual work of
8 hours to each day, the duration continues to go down until I’m adding 8 hours past the duration. What am I doing wrong? This behavior persists whether or not I select the "move unfinished parts…” options in the project options or not. The only way to
achieve the expected result is to remove the constraint, add the actual work and then reapply the constraint. I assume I have missed an option that needs to be correctly set to achieve the expected (and desired) result. Thanks.

Thanks, Julie.  I thought it was just me.  The reason for the FNLT constraint is that I'm not really scheduling projects but scheduling a single multi-unit resource in a shop environment where many projects are running through at the
same time.  I've set up a single resource with units equal to the number of shop personnel and I'm intentionally forcing overallocations (should there be any) by levelling and by not allowing Project to move my tasks any further than externally mandated
delivery dates.  From that, I can then see where I will need to alter shop release dates, allocate overtime, hire new workers or subcontract the work.  By entering actual work weekly, I can also see where I might have extra hours to use elsewhere
or vice versa.  Unfortunately, a deadline will not prevent Project from moving the tasks beyond the customer provided date when leveling.  This method worked fairly well in Project 2007 even though it's not really what the software was intended for.
I obviously only use a fraction of Project's capabilities.  There's probably better-suited tools out there but this is the one I have and it actually does a great job at it.  I'm sure I can still make it work in 2010 but it looks like I'll have to
modify my approach.  I'll leave the question open a while longer and see if I get any additional feedback.  If not, I'll mark it answered and move on.  Thanks, again.

  • Time Phased Planning

    Respected ,Gurus
I need configuration for Time phased Planning in sap pp.
if possible pls tell me step by step config.
i dont want link from sap help.
    Thanks  and Regards

When you say Time phased planning you are subjecting a material to be planned on a particular day and also ensure that it is delivered on a specified day again.
The Planning cycle field in MRP1 view serves as the planning one and the Planning calendar in MRP2 view serves as the delivery calendar.(Field Namings are a bit confusing here though).
So your wording that you are not using delivery cycle in your testing defeats the very purpose of TPP.
The reason why you do not see any impact after a MRP run is because for any TPP material the system sets up a Planning date in the Planning file entry that you can see in MD21 txn. For normal MRP type PD materials this field is not populated and remains blank and this field is specific for TPP only.
In this case the reference comes from Plg cycle calendar/MRP1. If you specify every Monday and Thursday as your periods in the calendar, assuming you set up the material today (25th Jan'12-Wed) the PFE entry gets updated automatically as 26th Jan'12 (Thursday).
If the TPP material is a component in a higher assembly and if you run a single-item multi-level planning on 25th Jan'12 it will plan only for your higher assembly and will not plan for your TPP cpt underneath.
You have the option of manually changing the planning date in PFE using MD20 for the date you require though and you can change that say to today the 25th Jan'12 and execute a single-item single-level run with MD03 and see the results. (After this the PFE gets updated again to the next planning date which will be again the 26th Jan'12 and after it is planned on 26th Jan'12 it gets updated to 30th Jan'12).
Thats the planning bit and similar thing holds good for delivery aspect that is referenced from the MRP2 calendar you key-in. If you say Friday is the only delivery day the procurement proposals created will have a Friday strictly as the delivery date.
Also TPP planning will not consider the entire horizon during which the dep reqmt exist for the component and thus differs again from conventional MRP which plans for entire horizon where it has to plan. Specify a lead time of 1 day for the component and ensure that there is a dep.demand existing on all days of a week and analyse the results with a scenario like above. Will be a good learning. Fun guaranteed:-)
And obviously the disadvantage of TPP is you will not find it attractive if you have dual sourcing in place for the same component.
Do let know if this information is of any small help.
    Happy TPP'ing...
    Cheers!!!

  • Time phased Budget in Financial Plans

    Hi,
We are using time phased budget and forecast at resource level. The user would like to enter budget and forecast on period wise.
But when budget/forecast regeneration the amount is spread across period based on the spread curves. But the user dont want to spread the amount across period.
Please help how to achieve this. This user is aware which period the budget or forecast amount and he manually enter. he dont want the automatic distribution of the amount.
    Thanks

    Hi Govind,
Its intended functionality of Oracle Projects Management. Whenever user plan to use Time phasing for budgeting, Oracle Spreads it using spread curve.
Then only option left to make the period wise changes by manually editing the required budget line.
    Thanks

  • Time phased planning with planned orders

I'm trying to get time-phased planning (MRP) to generate planned orders after the lead-time up to the planning horizon. I cannot get this to work so perhaps I should explain the scenario to see if this is possible. (This is all finished goods procurement, no manufacturing).
    Scenario:
I have a DC in the US which gets supplied from a DC in the UK on a 4 week lead-time. MRP runs every week and generates a purchase requisition (converted to STO which gets picked and issued etc).
The DC in the UK gets supplied from vendors on average 3 month lead-time. I get forecast requirements from UK and EMEA regions (stores) and want to also have planned orders from the US DC so that the MRP run on the UK DC will add the total requirements together and give me vendor orders.
As you can see from the lead-times a single STO from the US DC doesn't give me demand over the total 4 month lead-time which means the UK DC doesn't order enough. If I could get planned orders to generate then it would all come together (simple DRP model?)
At the moment I'm working round it by running "PD" MRP first on the US DC and then changing the RP type and running time-phased MRP to get a single STO but this isn't perfect and means I have to run it manually every Sunday. (Also the logic is not quite the same between both methods).
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    many thanks
    Marcus

    Hi,
I'm using a copy of the R1 MRP type with the only change being that the "RP ind. forecast" configuration is set to G so that forecasts are included in the requirements calculation. I only have forecast values going out to the planning horizon so they need to be relevant.
I have planning and delivery cycles maintained along with lead times and goods receipt times also but no planned order generation.
Is there somewhere else I should check?
    thanks!

  • About Time Phasing in Speed Binned BOM

    Hi Experts,
I headr that one new concept came in SBB i.e Time Phasing.I don't have any idea related to time phasing in SBB.If anyone knows about this, please share it with me.Reply,as soon as possible.

Probably the easiest way to get close would be to Import and drag your percussion Clip to the Timeline. Then, use the * key on the numberpad to tap to the beats. This will place markers on the Timeline. Then, edit your Video Clips to line things up. Yes, painstaking.
Going the other way, you could Open both your Video and your percussion Track in Audition, and go the other way, but adjusting the beat of the Audio to match the Video in the little monitor window.
Either way, it will be work.
Last thought would be to look into Magix Music Maker. It seems that there is a Preset to allow one to match up beats with visuals. I've not used it, and might also be confusing Magix Music Studio. Magix has a forum, though not as active as this one, and maybe someone there can direct you to the exact program, and the exact function and Preset in it.
    Good luck,

  • Resource time phased data in project server 2013/project 2013

    Hi all,
    I am using project server 2013 .
one resource availability percentage is set as 80% ie 6.4 hrs per day. But when we are doin task assignment, only 5.6 is taken for a day and rest is pushed to next day ( i have noticed this in the timephased data in the task usage screen).
for eg. if 6.4 work is assigned to the resources for a task with start date 1/1/2014 and end date 1/1/2014.  5.6hrs is taken for first day and 0.8 hr is moved to next day. Also the duration still shows as 1 eventhough task finish date is changed to 1/2/2014.
Please help to understand is there any settings where 5.6 is taken for a day though the resource capacity is set as 80% ie, 6.4hrs.
    Thanks, Rose

    Hi Rose,
is there any chance you have auto leveling turned on?  Menu Resource > Leveling Options > Automatic.

  • Time phase Min/max replenishment models for future dates

    Hi,
We are working on a safety stock requirement of Maximum/Minimum replenishment model in APO.
It seems to work great except it cannot be time phased.  Our business wants different safety stock strategies at different times of the year.
Please suggest if there is a way that we could “time phase” min/max replenishment models for future dates?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    regards
    Yogendra

    Many thanks for this.
I can see entirely why it's designed as such, but I just find it slightly frustrating that there's no way to break the link between the order and the shipment out to the depot. Just to clarify, we're not requiring the orders to change - they will still be made and will come in - but just that the orders themselves don't specifically need to be the stock that is used for the replenishment.
    So -
    1. Min Max identifies depot needs replenishing.
    2. Central distribution does not have (enough) stock to replenish.
    3. Order is made to replenish central distributions stock.
    4. We ship whatever we've got, when we've got it, to depot to replenish.
It's the bit where Min-Max is trying to replensih a specific depot rather than our central distribution centre that's my problem.
I suspect that, as you say, that specific issue is not directly fixable without getting our IT contractors to do a customisation.
I'm going to look into your Supply Date Offset suggestion now, though I'm not sure how this affects the shipping after the orders are placed. The orders themselves are approved manually after we've checked our stock position (i.e. what's in with the recycling team), but we recycle & refurb probably 60% of our maint stock so there'll always be kit turning up after the order has been made because of the long lead times.
    Thanks again.

  • Time supply in replenishment

    hi all,
A sku is placed on Time Supply replenishment. if we select stock category as direct to store , do we need to make sure that the min days of supply should always be set more than the supplier lead time ?
    regards,
    deepak

    hi ,
yeah , what you mentioned was right but my query was to understand , while we set min days of supply ( as per forecasted daily sale and sales rate ) do we need to make sure its to set always more than the lead time from supplier to warehouse and from warehouse store even though these parameters not set for this method.
eg: if we set minimum as two days of supply for an item with a sales rate of 10 units/ days ....and max days of supply is 5 days which is 50 units. so here the moment the stock hits less than 20 units or 2 days of supply.
what if , in this scenario the lead time between supplier to warehouse is 3 days and by the time we get the stock back to store we would incur a single day as lost sale right.
due to this reason only i had raised a doubt to clarify myself " do we always need to ensure MIN DOS more than the lead time".
    thanks & regards,
    deepak

  • Replenishment time???

    Hi,
Can any one explain clearly what is replenishment time in simple words as i am not functional guy
    Raj

Replenishment time is time required to replenish the goods.
Say your MM guys send a PO for all the material whch nees to be sold/delivered.
There is a fixed day for that say you have order for 5 days from today and rpl date is after 3 day then you can confirm a order of any number cause the need would be replineshed on Repl date by MM guys.
Replenishment Lead time is the lead time for replenishment. Say you have an order in hand and you request replenishment of the material, its the time taken by the vendor/production to get the material to your plant and make iot ready for delivery.
    Hope its helps

  • MM-Based inventory management & Replenishment -based Inventory Management

    Hi,
Can any one through me some light on the difference between "MM-Based inventory management" & "Replenishment -based Inventory Management" in IS-Retail.
Is it something related to planning, If so what is the difference.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Shakthi Rajkumar.

    Hi
In retail scenario the replenishment can happen in two ways
    (1) From DC to Stores
    (2) Directly from vendor to Distribution center.
However the above two scenarios follow the following push / pull strategy to replenish the material.
Case 1 : From DC to Stores
    How the push occurs ?
    Store orders/sales orders
Automatic store orders/sales orders from different POS system
    Auto replenishment
    How the pull occurs ?
    Allocation of merchandise purchased
Case 2 : Directly from vendor to Distribution center.
    How the push occurs?
    Reorder point planning
    Forecast based planning
    Time phased planning
    How the pull occurs?
    Allocation
    Manual purchase orders
Hope this clarifies your doubts how the replenishment happens in retail scenario
    Reward if useful
