Timeout when using CLIENT_HOST('cmd /c start/wait winword.exe) in FORMS10g

Hi, what to do      to prevent loss connection in forms / AS10g / Webutil?
we have in forms 10g / AS 10g using webutil following command to edit a word-document and save it afterwards:
CLIENT_HOST('cmd /c start /wait winword.exe '||'"'||pLocal_file_name||'"');
it works well for a short time of maybe 1 minute,
but when user works a longer time, the connection to AS-Server is loss.
what to do to solve problem ?
it is a Problem in FORMS or in WebUtil ?
set FORMS_TIMEOUT / higher ?
if so, where to set it, in the forms-module or in default.DEV of AS ?
or do i have use enable_redirect_on_timeout, how ?
Thanks
Norbert

Hello,
use the WEBUTIL_HOST.blocking() function instead as follow:
Declare
   LC$Cmd     Varchar2(256) ;
   Ret        WEBUTIL_HOST.PROCESS_ID ;
   LN$Result  Pls_Integer ;
   LC$FicName Varchar2(128) := Name_In( ‘BLOB_TABLE.DOC_NAME’ ) ;
Begin
   LC$Cmd := 'cmd /c start "" /WAIT "' || LC$FicName || '"' ;
   Ret := WEBUTIL_HOST.blocking( LC$Cmd ) ;
   LN$Result := WEBUTIL_HOST.Get_return_Code( Ret ) ;
End ;Francois

    mmm well System Exec.vi simulates a DOS command window, can you run the sandbox from the cmd window using the same commands without any errors?

  • Timeout when using database link connecting to a remote database

    Hi,
    I have another strange problem. I have two computers A and B. Both have an Oracle database server instance. I manage the one in B (which is my local computer) but not the one in A (which is a computer where I have a user account and an Oracle account but I don't own or manage).
    I tried to establish a database link on the database in B pointing to the one in A. This works.
    When I try the opposite, that is, establish a database link on the database in A pointing to the one in B I cannot get it work. I can create the database link but then when I try to use it (e.g., by submitting a "SELECT") it blocks for a long time and finally returns "ORA-12535: TNS:operation timed out". I tried to execute telnet from A to B using the port of the Oracle database server in B and it seems that the connection is established. I tried something similar with tnsping but this does not work, as I get again the timeout. I tried deactivating the firewall on my computer B, but it does not work either (besides, the telnet passes through even if I have the firewall activated).
    Any idea?
    My TNSPING looks like this:
    tnsping '(DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = <the-target-ip>)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = XE)
    I also tried with:
    tnsping '(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = <the-target-ip>)(PORT = 1521))';
    I'm lost... Any ideas are very much appreciated.
    Thanks!

    From A to B and from B to A can you ping ... post the output surrounded by tags for formatting.
    Do the same thing for TNSPING.

  • Path problem when use node manager to start Managed Server

    Hi, I have met a problem:
    My managed server's root directory is /usr/local/bea/cluster1/usr_projects/mydomain
    My Node Manager 's default directory is /usr/local/bea/cluster1/weblogic700/common/nodemanager
    I have some config file located under managed server's root directory and log
    file is also should be generated in managed server's root directory.
    But when I try to use node manager to startup/shutdown the Managed Server, I found
    weblogic can not find the config file if I don't move the config file from Managed
    server's root directory to node manager server's default directory. and also log
    file was created under node manager's default directory.
    It seems that managed server's default directory has been changed to node manager's
    default directory.
    What shall I do if I want Managed Server's default directory to be kept?

    Hi Lumin,
    If the weblogic version is 8.1, there is a RootDirectory field in Remote
    Start tab which should resolve your problem. Just enter the absolute
    directory pathname on the machine where you are starting your managed server
    and the current working directory of the managed server will be this
    RootDirectory. Before 8.1, the RootDirectory was used for finding the config
    file for weblogic but it was never used to change the working directory of
    the managed server created by the node manager.
    cheers,
    gaurav.

  • Native IO Disabled when using node manager to start managed server

    Hi,
    I am able to start my node manager and the managed server from the Admin Console. OS is AIX, WebLogic 9.2 MP3. The managed server starts OK, but Native IO is disabled even though it is enabled in the Admin Console for that manager server:
    ####<Jul 28, 2009 8:25:00 AM CDT> <Info> <Socket> <pstps09.statefarm.com> <PIA2> <[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '0' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <<WLS Kernel>> <> <> <1248787500274> <BEA-000447> <Native IO Disabled. Using Java IO.>
    I set NativeVersionEnabled to False in nodemanager.properties as specified in the BEA documentation, but can get Native IO to work. The log file clearly indicates that the JDK version is 32-bit:
    java.fullversion = J2RE 1.5.0 IBM J9 2.3 AIX ppc-32 j9vmap3223-20071007 (JIT enabled)
    Any ideas how to fix this or is this working as designed for AIX platforms?
    Thanks!
    -Mary Manchukian

    The following document asks to set NativeVersionEnabled to False:
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs61/adminguide/remotestart.html#1043956:
    The Node Manager is available for use only on Windows and UNIX platforms. Native libraries are available for running the Node Manager on Windows, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX and Red Hat Linux operating systems. For UNIX operating systems other than Solaris and HP UX, you will need to use the following argument on the java command line when starting the Node Manager:
    -Dweblogic.nodemanager.nativeVersionEnabled=false
    If we do not set NativeVersionEnabled to False, the managed server doesn't start at all and fails with the error:
    java.io.IOException: Server failed to start up. See server output log for more details.

  • Timeout when using  ALV build-in functionality: exporting to Excel

    Hello,
    I have the following problem within one of my web dynpro abap applications:
    I need to be able to display data in a table that preferably should be via alv component.
    Then I shall also be able to download the displayed data via Excel.
    So I have embedded the ALV component I added to the component within a view and activated the export to excel button.
    Downloading small amount of data does no lead to any problem, but when trying to process a larger amount of data (in this case 22500 entries), I get a timeout.
    Does anybody have any idea if it is possible to increase performance here without reducing the amount of data to be downloaded?

  • Client_host cmd problem

    Hello.
    I want to open excel file on client. File is on another computer. I open the file with clien_host and cmd. The problem is, that cmd window stays opened.
    I open file like:
    CLIENT_HOST('cmd /c ' || LC$Target);
    LC$Target is like //Linux_comp/dir/file.xls.
    If i run this, excel starts but the cmd window stays on. When i close excel, cmd closes.
    How can i solve this problem?
    If i run file like
    CLIENT_HOST('cmd /c start c:\Dir\Dir\Excel.exe ' || LC$Target);
    cmd window closes after excel is started.
    Why is that?
    I need 1st version, because not every user has the same excel path.
    Any help?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    with the START() command, there is no need to indicates the path to the program (excel.exe). Just put the file name (.xls) and windows will start the associated programe for you.

  • Passing arguments to Managed Server ServerStart when using Node Manager

    Below is the procedure to pass arguments to Managed Server serverstart tab when using Node Manager to start and stop the Managed Server instance
    For passing the JVM arguments we will have to use "-server" which is hotspot and then pass the arguments
    for eg: "-server -Xms2048m -Xmx2048m -verbosegc"
    For adding jar's to the classpath you will have to add weblogic.jar and weblogic_sp.jar from WL_HOME/server/lib directory as well along with the custom jar (In some cases we can ignore weblogic_sp.jar, just adding weblogic.jar will do).
    for eg: "\home\user\debug.jar;\home\user\bea\wlserver_10.3\server\lib\weblogic.jar;\home\user\bea\wlserver_10.3\server\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;"

    Hi,
    To me, if you don't wanna use the NodeManager, you won't be able to start your managed servers with WLST.
    I guess the only ways are :
    * through the console / WLST using the NodeManager
    * using the startManagedWebLogic.[cmd/sh]

    I can start the listener manually using "./lsnrctl start" and start the database manually from sql prompt using "SQL>startup" (as sysdba) with no problems. this only happens when using dbstart file. I am logged in as oracle user and all environment variables are set
