TimesTen on the Database Host

I have reviewed the documentation and usually see Oracle 11g TimesTen (IMDB) Cache as part of the "Middle Tier".
Can Oracle 11g TimesTen (IMDB) Cache and the Oracle 11g Database be installed on the same host?
I have extra real memory on the host that runs the Oracle 11g Database and want to take advantage on IMDB Cache.
What is the reasoning behind running IMDB Cache on the "Middle Tier".

It is technically possible to install and run TimesTen on the same host as oracle Db but this is not a recommended configuration because:
1. Unless the Oracle/TT server has adequate hardware (CPU/Memory/Storage) and has been very carefully setup you are likely to get competition for memory, CPU and disk I/O resources between TimesTen and Oracle DB which will nnegatively impact the performance of both.
2. TimesTen delivers best performance when it is co-located with the application logic that is accessing it. When the application and TimesTen are on the same machine the appplication can use 'direct connection' mode which eliminates all IPC (even local IPC) from the app <-> TimesTen communication resulting in very efficient and low latncy communication between the app and TimesTen. When TimesTen is on the same server as oracle all interactions with TimesTen still incur a network roundtrip which is very expensive compared to typical SQL execution times in TimesTen.
So yes you can do it but in most cases it is a bad idea and won't deliver anything like the benefits you would getif you put TimesTen in the middle tier.

I don't know where you even want to upload this software. The only way it can be downloaded to a device is through the iTunes store. Do you even know what you want to do?

How to start agent on the database host which is being Monitored

I have installed OEM 11.2.1.0. I have stopped getting alerts after the Node1 server is rebooted. I am monitoring RAC database.
When I checked the agent status on host I get the following output

Connect to the database of auto Hosted App on Office 365

Hi All,
I developed a custom Application for SharePoint on top Office 365 in Auto-hosted mode. The application has SQL database which will be deployed to SQL Azure.
I would like to read some info from the database but using another tools not from inside the developed application (e.g. SharePoint designer, PowerPivot) to generate some reports.
When I try to connect to the database after the application installation using SharePoint Designer I get the following error message:
Cannot open server 'xxxxxxxxxxx' requested by the login. Client with IP address '41.239.166.230' is not allowed to access the server. To enable access, use the Windows Azure Management Portal or run sp_set_firewall_rule on the master database to create

The error message shows you need to add your IP Address to the firewall rules of the SQL Azure to get yourself connected. As you deploy the database to SQL Azure, you mean you cannot open window azure management portal?

Recover database on the other host

I have to recover my database on the other host.
In my source machine(redhat5,x86_64) I installed oracle 10g (10.2.0.1), sid=orapro, archive_mode=on, flash_area_recovery=default.

Is there a way, or does Adobe have a product or solution, to create a PDF version of the document including the barcode, before it’s sent to a printer?

What format is the document that is printed? Or what technology is used to format the printer? There isn't a standard way of doing things in Unix.

Yes, two Oracle databases with same ORACLE_SID can reside on same system as same time.
The only restriction is that only one instance can be online at a time.

How to create the database schema from an existing TimesTen database ?

I'm a newbie to TimesTen database. Before doing complicated sql queries, I would like to obtain the database schema of TimesTen DB. I'm looking for a way to extract the schema of database (tables, keys, links between tables ...). When I was working on other db like postgreSQL, I was able to obtain the sql script of the database (for exemple, in order to re-create the database in an other server). Some software like PowerAMC was able to built the database model from these scripts.
Do you know a way to obtain the same with TimesTen database ? Or with an other way ?

Quick question, I finished the installation of XI 3.0 with all patches. But the system is running low, very low on resources even though it has 2GB of RAM. I was wondering if it is possible to migrate the <SAPID> database and then re-configure the central instance and J2EE Engine to access a different machine OR do I have to re-install and follow the distributed system installation process.

Your issue isn't the database, it's the J2EE server. Moving the database instance isn't going to save you enough RAM -- you'll run into the same problem again as soon as you start running messages through the system, when the J2EE engine starts allocating heap space for those messages.
Our experience has been that 2GB of RAM is not enough for a development/prototype XI system. You need 3GB to do a basic prototype/development machine install (but ask for 4GB if this is your permanent development system). You'll need more than that in a typical production system.

I have configured Oracle_DB[11.2.0.3.0] for timesten, installed timesten[11.2.2.7.0], configured cache_DB.
So the Oracle database has user TIMESTEN(cache user) and TTENADMIN(cache admin user). Similarly the Cache Database has same TTENADMIN(cache manager user) and FNETLUO1(cache table user)
But while configuring the cache database following error occurred:

But i can see that at backend two new tables are created for TTENADMIN(cache admin):

The error says database connection error. I am able to connect to the database using sqlplus. I tried to restart the failed worker, but the same error is repeating.

One thing which I noticed now is in the apps Tier the
tnsnames.ora under $TNS_ADMIN
shows entry like this:

I deleted the tnsnames.ora and reran autoconfig but it is again recreating the same entry.
Any clue how this can be fixed?

but the problem is when we are inserting the new record after click to save the record first saves the data in the Db and then it appears on the grid.
Is it possible to do reverse of the above :
first it comes to the grid and then after click to save it save to the database.

Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance....

Hi all,
Currently i'm facing a big issue here.
I have install the Oracle 10g on Window 2003 SE.
And currently the Enterprise manager is not be able to conenct to the database and my database is still running.With my listener is up.
But from the Enterprise manager's it show that everythg is down.
and when i try to restart it,i ask for os id and password and dbuser and dbpassword.
frm the SQL plus,i can easily startup and shutdown the database.
So i would like to know i can rectify this problem.

And i would like to know how to set up the environment variable for Oracle_HOME and ORACLE_SID.

Looking at the error message "The Network Adapter could not establish the connection" , It appears hostname and port may be incorrect. Review the targets.xml under E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\SAP_solman_SDB\emd and
emoms.properties under E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\SAP_solman_SDB\config folder to make sure host ( sap_solman) and port (1527) are correct.
As far as setting the environment variables goes, you can go to control panel -> system -> advanced -> environment variables and set the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID

When I execute procedure i am getting the below message at bottom of the Oracle SQL Developer
"Connecting to the database"
it is taking more than 10 min plz guide

have you installed a normal Oracle Client also on your Host? normal Oracle Client
Did you connect with host:port:sid or with a Oracle Naming Service? through TNS Service
Can you test tnsping <alias> yes, It is working fine
Did other user have the same problem? yes
Did you connect through WAN or LAN connection? LAN (Intranet)
Can you tell more about you client/database setup?
