Title Animation

Hi, I'm new to Premiere Elements, having just bought Version 8. Can anyone please help me with a couple of issues? I would like to import Text as overlay over a slide & then animate it, instead of creating the text in the titler. I can easily place the overlay, but cannot find how to animate. Secondly, if I have to use the titler and use the crawl option, how can i stop the crawl for a couple of seconds & then start it again?

Linda,
First, you are most welcome.
Second, you get to ask all the questions that you have - as long as someone here has the answers...
Third, I think that Steve has answered your question, especially the "Break Apart Slideshow." If you need clarification, he's the guy, who can clarify. I do not use the SlideShow function, so I would have been pretty much at a loss here.
Do not hesitate to ask. One thing to think about though is if you question fits under the initial title. If not, do not hesitate to start a new post. One aspect of this forum is getting answers to direct questions. However, there is another aspect, that often gets overlooked. Many users come here, and search down the titles for something that is similar to their problem. Many read all posts that look promising, and quite a few get their problem solved, and there question answered without having to post. It's very common to see new replies to old threads, along the line of "thank you for this thread, as it answered all my questions and solved all of my problems - great forum." Some of these come years after the initial post. This is why we recommend using good titles, which you certainly did. The titles like, "Newbie Needs Help," do not tell any body anything about the problem, or the question.
Do not bother to break this question out. If it was a strong deviation from the original topic, Steve (our tireless MOD) would have done so. Everything is cool -
Again, do not hesitate to ask any question. We enjoy helping others get their Projects finished and their ideas onto video. That is why we all come here.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Need suggestion on how to do 3D spinning title animation

    Hello all experts,
I need suggestion on how to do 3D rotating title animation. Let me explain what i wanted to do.
The end product is the word WELCOME.
But I want to animate it in such a way that the alphabelt W first appear as nothing from inside the screen to appear in the screen (that means zoom from small to big, is it called zoom out ?). In the process of zooming out, I want the W to have a thickness & it spins very fast along the horizontal X-axis and stops at the screen with the alphbelt W.
Then the whole process repeat with E, and I have WE. It then repeats with L and I have WEL. This whole thing repeats until it forms the word WELCOME.
Any suggestions ? Is there an inbuilt preset for this ?
If not, if I do from scratch, do I need a separate track for each alphabelt ?
    Thank you very much.
    Cheers.

You would have to build this one from scratch, but it's pretty easy.
Work on the whole word first to get the basic movement, then play with the Timing settings in the Inspector. To have the letters do this one after the other use the Sequence setting. Typically you would set it to the number of letters in your word plus 1 -so your welcome should have a Sequence value of 8. You can of course set it to whatever you think looks best.
Give it a go and let us know how you get on. Don't forget to save your new effect!
Thanks Holmes but where do I find the Sequence settings ?
    Thanks

  • After Effects 4K Title & Animation Issue

    Hello,
I am having an issue implementing titles for my project in PP that were created in AE. I had someone make me title animations and logo animations for me. He designed them for 1920X1080, but my footage and sequence is 4096 X 2160, and now he's on vacation for three weeks in Europe.  I have all the assets and project files for this project. I tried to do a simple change in the sequence settings of the comps but that didn't solve anything. I also tried scaling up the layers but then the animation paths got messed up. How can I re-size the titles so they match the sequence correctly?
    Thanks,
    Ben
    AE - 11.0.2.11
    MAC OS X - 10.8.3
    4K RED Footage - 4096 X 2160

Check the comp resizer script that comes with AE and there's a similar, more advanced floating around on AEScripts or AEnhancers somewhere. Though the aspect ratios being slightly different you may still need to intervene manually. If ev erything is based on shape layers, vector artwork and text layers, enabling the collapse transformations switch might also allow scaling the pre-comps up without any loss of quality whiel retaining the animation...

when i do title animation the last letters or words of the script always pop up before the rest fades in and stays after the rest fades out...help!
I tried changing the font and then the placement of the title but it always comes back!

Thank you. I figured it out right before I heard from you.  Running the OCR before the redaction made it work correctly.
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question.

  • How to do this title animation

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tebC9qCwwPo
How do I to do this title animation in this video 00:35?
Just like this video "Alter Bridge" "Come To Life".
    Can Premiere CC do this?
    Thanks!

Yes.  There are several ways to do this using cropping, mattes, animating titles, and many other effects.
If you have After Effects, it may be better to do it there.

  • How to reverse direction of title animation

    Friends,
I just downloaded motion 5 to use with FCPX titles.  is it possible to use motion 5 to reverse the direction of a title animation?  For example, FCPX has a certain title is shown entering from the left.  I'd like it to enter from the right.  Can I make the switch?
    Thanks!
    Steve

It looks like that one is animated by keyframes. In this case you could make the animation go right to left by reversing the keyframe order and then adjusting as needed.  You will need to do this with the Emitter and the Rectangle Mask.
    For the Mask:
-Change the Mask Blend Mode to Subtract.
-In the Inspector, go to the X Position and to the right of the keyframe indicator, click the downward facing arrow and select Show in keyframe editor from the contextual menu.
-In the Keyframe editor, option click the checkbox next to the Transform.Position.X channel.  this will hide the other keyframes.
-Select both the keyframes for the X channel.  While they are both selected right click on top of one of the keyframes and select Reverse Keyframes from the contextual menu.  This will reverse the animation direction for the Mask on the text.
    For the Emitter:
Basicly, do the same thing as with the Mask.  Go to the keyframes for the X postion and reverse them.  In this case you will need to adjust the start and end postions. The first keyframe will need to be near the right side of the canvas, and the second keyframe will need to be further away.  Once you are close you can adjust the second keyframe to match the mask that wipes the text

  • Unable to Apply Title Animation

Premiere Elements 8 doesn't let me apply title animation to a certain title.
The same track contains a few other titles, to which i was able to apply title animation without problem.
I tried dragging the problematic title (actually, problematic titleS) to a separate track, but it doesn't solve the problem.
    Is there a solution/workaround?
    Is this a known issue?
Where does the problem stem from?

Glad that we got it for you.
The workaround is to do multiple Titles, each with one line of Text. Place them one, above the other on the necessary Video Tracks. Apply the Animation Preset to each. You can also apply different Presets, depending on what you want. You can also stagger them, so that each line comes in, with the Animation Preset, one at a time. The choice is yours.
One can also manually Keyframe most of the Animation Presets, though some do require things like Track Matte Keying to get their "wipe," or similar Effects.
If you get into heavy Title Animation, have a look at both BluffTitler, and ProDAD's Heroglyph. Both are really neat.
    Good luck,

  • Title Animation via AE - how?

I just installed CS4 Production Premium and began learning and experimenting.   One thing I had hoped to use is the better integration between PP and AE.  One common thing I like to do is nice text animation.  In the <CS4 world there was quite a bit of overhead that I often used as an excuse to just do simple text animation that PP could handle.  Here is the workflow I just tried with CS4 that did *not* work as I expected.  <br /><br />Help?<br /><br />  1) Created a simple still title with one line of text in PP and added it to a sequence.<br /><br />  2) Right clicked on the title in the timeline and selected "Replace with After Effects Composition".<br /><br />Now AE runs, as expected. But . . . the newly created comp does not contain the text from the PP title. And in PP the text is also gone.<br /><br />If I add text in AE, animate it, and save the comp, PP *is* updated accordingly.<br /><br />Bug or Error 299 (excessive user ignorance)?

    >The replace command is a copy/paste operation; it's not dynamic link.
I get you. Matter of viewpoint, I suppose. I consider it the first part of a two way DL from a
user standpoint, even if the "under the hood" operation is slightly different.
Here's another difference. If you DL the Premiere sequence into AE via your method, you can't then DL that AE comp back into the same Premiere sequence. With the new "two-way" DL in CS4, that's essentially what's happening from a user standpoint. You start in Premiere, 'link' to AE, then 'link' back to Premiere. It's those two links that make me consider it "two-way" DL.
Having said that, I can't see myself objecting if Adobe made the "under the hood" operation identical for both methods.

  • Title animation repeats when I move the segment

    Hiya,
I'm very new to FInal Cut Pro X.
I have made a title with the lens flare animation. I set two keyframe markers to make the text enlarge before disappearing. It worked perfectly. Until...
I moved the segment and the animation went haywire. The animation now starts two or three times before the segment has finished playing.
I can't move the segments at all without this happening. My only option seems to be to decide exactly where I want the segment before I work on it. Which can't be correct.
    Can anybody help, please?
    Thank you.

    Hi Tom!
    Thanks for replying.
Here are two screenshots showing the keyframes I set for one of the titles. I'm using the Lens Flare titles.
When I move the completed title along the timeline it adds extra keyframes in seemingly random positions, which I then have to delete manually. Otherwise they make the individual titles repeatedly flare and change size. Working with six titles is almost impossible because they all behave similarly when I shift them along.
I feel that it might be to do with the fact that the keyframes are stuck to the timeline and not the title segments, but I just don't know
    Thanks for your support,
    Bart

  • IMovie '06 bug - Titles - Animated Gradient

I couldn't find anyone else who asked this question under iMovie '06 so I'll post it here.
It appears that whenever you have created a title with multiple lines, and then click on the Animated Gradient title under Clip to Character, or any of those transitions, iMovie will crash. Once it opens back up, if you haven't previously saved the project immediately after working on a multi-line title, you can use it just fine. Otherwise, you have to work on or create a single-line title in order to use one of these transitions.
"Save early, Save often" is not a phrase I usually associate with Apple, nor is quit and restart, but both have become regular practice in this version of iMovie.

I'm actually having problems now duplicating the problem on cue in a new project. I can get it to crash, but it's kind of hard to give the exact sequence. The project I'm working on is a DV/NTSC/Full Screen (4x3) mode movie. It consists of photo stills, transitions and titles, with a music soundtrack.
    For example:
Take a song purchased from iTunes and place it in the timeline.
Take a photo and place it into the timeline set at 00:05:20 duration
    Copy and paste that clip
Apply the black and white effect to the first clip
    Create a 2:10 cross-dissolve between the two
Add a 1:16 Fade-in before the two and a 1:16 Fade out after
Using Edwardian Script ITC font (if you have it on your machine)
Put in a multi-line Centered title over black, largest size
Put in a multi-line scrolling block over black, largest size
In the Titles Pane, click on a different Title type, just not a Clip to Character.
Click on another clip then click back on one of the title clips after it has rendered. Make sure the titles pane changes to the appropriate Title.
Test 1) Try to select one of the Clip to Character transitions, specifically Animated Gradient, as if you were going to update that title clip to an Animated Gradient.
Test 2) Click on one of the multi-line titles and add several lines (4 or 5 pairs)
Keep going back and forth between title types, both with a current title clip selected, as well as without.
This is the type of situation where I am running into trouble. The kind of text doesn't matter. I typed in several lines of gibberish and it did the same thing as the "clean text." Punctuation doesn't seem to be an issue. I thought maybe a ' I was using was throwing something off. That doesn't seem to make a difference. The fact is I can get the title put in, but only if I am careful about how I go about it. That is frustrating.
    Hope this detail helps.
    Thanks for looking into this.

  • Choppy slide titles animation

Look at what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HUpYYJoA8Y&feature=youtu.be
Titles slide to the center all choppy, laggy, like they are skipping  frames... I tried with better quality 1920 etc... but all that does is  enlarge my picture which isn't really helpful considering I have a small  raster picture to start with and the animation is still sluggish. What  gives?
These are my Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 settings for exporting video:
    format:h.264
    w: 320, h: 240
    frame rate: 30
    aspect: D1/DV PAL (1.0940)
    TV standard: NTSC
    Profile: high
    level: 1,3
    render at maximum depth: "checked"
    bitrate encoding: VBR, 1 pass
    target and maximum bitrate: 0,18
    use maximum render quality: "checked"
PS.: How can I improve quality of the video, setting it to 1920*1080  just enlarges my video, which pixelates my raster picture in the video.

    Your settings are very odd.
If I was going to export to 320X240 I would use square pixels. Mixing a PAL aspect ratio with NTSC TV standard is confusing.
You most likely do not need "Render at Maximum Depth" and if your target is zero, you bitrate is going to be darn low.
Try at least 1Mb/s with a max of 2Mb/s.
My guess is that you want a really low file size, but you have to have a high enough bit rate for quality purposes.
Also, moving the titles is a bit of an art form in Premiere Pro. In After Effects you can move a certain number of pixels in a certain number of frames so that you are always moving "whole pixels" instead of percentages. In Premiere Pro you sometime have to speed it up a little or slow it down a little to get it to work smoothly.

  • Creating and saving custom title animations

    Hi
I would like to create a few standard (really simple) titles for my videos.  An example of one can be found at http://youtu.be/8saxdhRoL1A
So far I have use Title > New Title > Default Still to create the basic title.
    I have:
changed the font size, fill colour, outline colour and shadow as required (can you change the shadow colour??).
Moved the text to the default position (bottom left hand side)
Set the total duration to 6 seconds.
I noticed that "Text animation" provide a fade-in and fade-out, but I also wish to add slide in from left then slide out to left at some time, so I have not used the text annimation.
Having created the basic title and placed it on a video track above the main video, I have right clicked and used "Show Properties" so that I can now set key frames for opacity and (later position).
    Keyframes at
    0s - 0% opacity
    1s - 100% Opacity
    4s - 100% Opacity
    5s - 0% Opacity
This works fine BUT I now wish to save this title with fade-in, fade-out (and other effects) so that I can use it later in other projects. How DO I do this????  The title that appears in the Projects Media has none of the keyframes/effects (and is still the default length for a still).
    Suggestions please.

    Hi Steve
    Thanks for the reply.
So to make custom title I need to create a new title (basically font, style, colour, poistion), save the title down, save the opacity keyframes as a preset, and save the motion keyframes as a preset.
Then on a new project, import the title, apply the opacity effects preset, apply the motion effects preset and then I have my custom title!
Somehow I can't see myself doing that.
As an alternative I am considering creating a (blank) "titles" and "Disc Menus" project with an example of each of my titles, along with a disc menu using matching fonts and colours.  When I start a new project I'll load this "titles" project, load the media and then save down as a new project.  What do you think?
I used Pinnacle Studio for many years but got a little cheesed off when it kept crashing when attempting to make DVDs longer than 30 mins.  I changed to Cyberlink Power Director 2 years ago, but it seems to have problems with HD content longer than 60 mins, although much quicker. I'll see how Elements copes..... So I must confess to being slightly dissapointed with how difficult it is to customise Elements.
    Thanks again

  • Bringing animated titles from AE to PP

    Hello all,
I have recorded some interviews and took a sample video from one of them to create an animation that shows the subject's name and role they play. I need to customise each title for each person obviously and was wondering the best way of doing this.
Here are the after effects layers:
TOP      Title and Role (fixed animation of a custom title for each clip)
2          Animated branded strip on which title sits (same for each clip)
3          Test video clip (for positioning but will need to be replaced in Premiere by the video edit)
BOTTOM     Animated background image that plays during the title animation and then disappears (same for each clip)
I would like to customise each title sequence for each actor. Because one of the layers sits below the video layer (but is blended in as the video background is black) I need to be able to bring into Premiere as layers and reposition around the video clip.
What's the most efficient way of doing this. I was thinking that as the background animation and title strip animation are fixed, I could create that as one composition and another composition for the specific title and bring each in uniquely for each actor. Just wondering what's the best workflow for doing this. Can I tell after effects to ignore the test video clip to avoid it being exported. Should I delete or can I just tell AE not to export or include in PP?
    Thanks for any help

If this were my project I would create a different comp for each name by simply duplicating the comps in the Project Panel then changing the name. I would remove the background video, duplicate the comps, change the names,  then render each title using the Render Cue or AME using the Lossless With Alpha preset. The rendered titles would be brought into PPro and added above appropriate shot in the sequence.
If you have CC 2014 I would work differently. I would create a Text Template in AE for Premiere Pro. This is a much more efficient workflow. Here's how: How to create text templates in After Effects for Premiere Pro | Adobe After Effects CC tutorials

  • Titles with animation / motion ...

I've only made two movies thus far with PP CS6.  I used a number of very basic titles, although in my last movie leveraged the title templates to jazz them up a bit.    Before I switched to PP I used Videostudio (consumer app), which came with a bunch of premade motion titles that you could browse and easily change somewhat along the lines of the new title from template feature in PP.   I didn't see anything along those lines in PP unless I missed something.  Are titles that have animation and motion something one would create with After Effects?

As Sal mentions above, PrPro can do Title Animation, but there are basically only two Title Animation Presets: Roll & Crawl. However, PrPro offers Animation via Keyframing the Fixed Effects>Motion>Position. That Fixed Effect is Keyframed most easily from the Effects Control Panel.
Beyond that, one can Animate many other Effects for Titles. I use the Fixed Effects>Opacity, Motion>Scale, as well as added Effects, such as Blur, to do what I require.
When I run out of either control, or the exact Effect, that I want to Animate in PrPro, I then go to AE, but within reason, PrPro is easy, and highly effective. Once one grasps the concept of Keyframing Effects over time, it's really just a bunch of clicks.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - I Animate Titles, Stills and Video - all pretty much the same way, so it is not limited to just Titles.

  • .gif animations not working and image thumbnail issues

    Hello,
I hope that someone can help me out.
I have animated .gif images on my iWeb site and they just recently stopped working, and I cant figure it out.
    These are my issues:
Recently iWeb wont show my animated .gifs as they should. (I have found that this still kind of works in IE, but not FF or Safari) In iWeb my .gifs show as a video clip, but once I publish the site, it only shows up as a single image and not an animation. Also the options on my site that allow users to switch back and forth between showing the miniature thumb nails of my images for the slideshow and not showing them do not show up all the time. The .gifs are also not showing up inside the miniature thumbnails as well.
Also note: Those miniature little thumbnails show up very fuzzy as well. This doesn't seem like it should be like that. Am I over looking something important?
Not sure what I have to do to fix these issues. I have looked to see if I am missing an update or something, but it appears that I am up to date.
    Can anyone help me out?

    Hi Neil,
    I have the same problem.
I created a short title animation with EDGE, you can download it here : https://creative.adobe.com/share/829a6ca9-7f26-4ee5-8120-a5da388e3c33
Once in inDesign, I create a web content overlay that I link to my html animation.
I turn ON auto play and set a delay of 0.25 sec. The article that contains the animation is the third of my folio.
If I preview the article ONLY, the animation fires correctly however if I preview the whole folio, the title appears but with no animation what so ever.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    J.
