Title Window - Colors Panel
I seem to have lost my colors panel in the title window.
The first time I tried TITLER, I couldn't find the colors panel to change text colors, any colors, etc. I then found it was behind the panel that TITLE opened in. OK, fine. There it was, behind it.
Now, the colors panel is not behind it nor anywhere to be found. I even asked my dog if he maybe thought it was a bone and buried it (LOL-he just scratched and went to sleep).
Where oh where did that color panel go, ohhhh, where oh where can it be?

Nope, tried that then looked everywhere, undocked windows, everywhere - no colors panel. WOW - CS5 is just a learning workhorse.
With luck, an employee might show up and advise. That would be great customer service!

Dynamically setting the color of the title in a Panel
Hello, I know I can set the color & font of the title in a Panel using the titleStyleName in a stylesheet. How can I dynamically change the color though? I have a component:
<mx:Panel id="myPanel"borderColor="{this.color1}" />
where this.color1 is a value that changes dynamically, and thus changes the border color. How do I do this for the color of the text in the title?Hi,
Try this
var css:CSSStyleDeclaration = StyleManager.getStyleDeclaration(".myPanelTitle");
css.setStyle("color",0x00FF00); -
Windows Color Management in Control Panel Settings?
I know enough to disable color management in the printer driver when I enable my photo editing software (PS Elements) to handle color management.
However, what should thecorrect setting for Color Management be in the Windows 7 Control Panel.
Assuming I have selected my printer in the device setting and have uploaded the ICC profile for my printer in = Windows Color Management in the Control Panel
do I check the box next to "Use my settings for this device" ?
do I select "Automatic (recommended)" or "Manual" in the Profile Selection box ?
do I check "Use as Default Profile" for my paper's ICC profile ?
or will my graphics program automatically override all the settings in Windows Color Management in the Control Panel?
If the graphics program does not override the Windows control panel settings, what is the proper permutation of settings.
ThanksGood question seweavermm.
Access to video card control (if available) is typically done through either System Preferences on a Mac or the Control Panel on a PC. The good news is that since you don't know how to do this then it is high probability it is in default mode and is a moot point. It is my understanding that not too many video cards have settings that are not reset by the by the actual calibration process itself yet put this step in for completeness. The more important and common condition that must be done is setting the monitor to a condition that is stable and allows access to its full gamut. I suggest to read the details of the instruction manual for the OSD controls for your monitor to verify that the default conditions meet those chacterisitcs. Typical gotchas would be defaulting to sRGB color space which would limit the colors you could see or having a mode set that does anything dynamic such as scene adjusted brightness. Another gotcha is when the monitor and software allow adjusting brightness for the ambient light - best to control the ambient light and have the monitor at a constant brightness so as not to invalidate any calibration/profiling done with the monitor. Note that changing any OSD settings and fiddling with monitor conditions invalidates the calibration done as the calibration is only valid for the fixed conditions of the monitor at the time of calibration. That was a lot more then the question you asked yet wanted to put things in perspective. Hope this helps. -
Issues with color panel and other windows on right side of flash
Ok the issue I'm having with flash is that the windows on the right side of my flash window do not snap up when I collapse a window. I am attaching a screen shot to better explain this issue.
As you can see I have the color panel collapsed up, when I expand this panel and it goes down everything shifts down. however when I collapse it back up a huge gap is left behind in CS5.5 as is displayed in screen shot number 2. In CS4 I never had this problem. I could expand and collapse panels as I saw fit with no problems what so ever. Everytime now that I expand a panel and collapse it, the library or other panels do not move up with the collapsing. This causes a workspace issue. and forces me to drag up the library via the black line that is just above it but below the align panel so that I have better access to my library or properties panel for when I'm working. I find this highly annoying and would like it if there could be a fix produced to make it so this collapsing issue can be fixed and I don't have to waste time dragging up the library/properties panel everytime I need to access stuff in my library when I have a huge list of graphics I'm going through.
Thanks
h_cline2I already tried that, first thing I thought of before coming to the forums for a solution.
Thanks anyways.
Any other ideas? -
Panel, title window buttons
Hi everybody
I wonder, i know its possible to add buttons, to the titlebar
of a title window, but i don't know how its done, can someone
explain me please? or send me a link with a tutorial. Also i'd like
to know if its possible to add another type of controls such as
input text or combobox.
ThanksHere's a sample I've created, it just so happens I'm
currently working on something similiar.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Canvas xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
width="400" height="300">
<mx:XML id="cmbXML">
<root>
<item label="item one" />
<item label="item two" />
</root>
</mx:XML>
<mx:TitleWindow width="100%" height="100%"
layout="absolute" title="Title Window Test">
<mx:Button label="Button" right="10" bottom="10"/>
<mx:Button label="Button" right="83" bottom="10"/>
<mx:TextArea left="10" right="10" top="10"
bottom="40"/>
</mx:TitleWindow>
<mx:Image source="images/common/cross.png" right="10"
top="6"/>
<mx:ComboBox right="40" y="4"
dataProvider="{cmbXML.item}" labelField="@label" />
</mx:Canvas>
The only challenge is, as a popup window I can't drag it
around, i have to let the mouse drag event fall through to the
canvas somehow. -
I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what.
I've read some great write ups on the subject:

I generated a config.xml called nothemeuiconfig.xml and changed this:
<component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-themeui" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-themeui/microsoft-windows-themeui/settings"/>
To this:
<component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-themeui" migrate="no" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-themeui/microsoft-windows-themeui/settings"/>
But themes, wallpapers - everything - still come over.
Opened a case with Microsoft, sent them:
the XML's I'm using
the command I used to generate the config.xml
the command I used for scanstate
the log files generated by scanstate
the command I used for loadstate
the log files generated by loadstate
Summary result of the MS case:
After much review & scrutiny, the command line and XML files are syntactically correct and rules are sound.
The articles I referenced in the ticket are indeed old and speak of an older version of USMT, so I can accept the possibility that something may have changed between USMT versions that render those suggested rules & instructions invalid.
Despite using
unconditionalExclude to unconditionally globally exclude objects, something else is trumping that rule, and there’s no way around that.
Even using
MigXmlHelper.DestinationPrioity() won’t help us here because, like above, something else trumps that rule, and there’s no way around that.
The last proposed suggestion is to disable the shmig component, which may or may not break or otherwise adversely affect the backup/restore of other things. (This may be too difficult to detect easily or in initial testing and the uncertainty doesn’t
give us confidence problems won’t arise as a result of this change. Also,
Ned Pyle's post post says NOT to, but then again that's an old post.)
Is this no longer possible or am I'm just doing it wrong?Thanks for the reply
TimAmico!
I saw your responses on Friday & Saturday, but didn't reply because I wanted to think this over a bit and try to get a second opinion.
The 'Appearance and Display' component looks to have a has a number of sub-components.
<component displayname="Appearance and Display" migrate="yes" ID="appearance_and_display">
<component displayname="Windows Games Settings" migrate="yes" ID="appearance_and_display\windows_games_settings">
<component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-GameExplorer" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-gameexplorer/microsoft-windows-gameexplorer/settings"/>
</component>
<component displayname="Taskbar and Start Menu" migrate="yes" ID="appearance_and_display\taskbar_and_start_menu">
<component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-stobject" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-stobject/microsoft-windows-stobject/settings"/>
<component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-explorer" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-explorer/microsoft-windows-explorer/settings"/>
</component>
<component displayname="Personalized Settings" migrate="yes" ID="appearance_and_display\personalized_settings">
<component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-uxtheme" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-uxtheme/microsoft-windows-uxtheme/settings"/>
<component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-themeui" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-themeui/microsoft-windows-themeui/settings"/>
<component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-shmig" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-shmig/microsoft-windows-shmig/settings"/>
<component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-shell32" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-shell32/microsoft-windows-shell32/settings"/>
<component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-CommandPrompt" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-commandprompt/microsoft-windows-commandprompt/settings"/>
</component>
</component>
If I'm understanding the XML correctly, setting 'Appearance and Display' to 'no' will not bring over any of the sub components:
Windows Games Settings: Microsoft-Windows-GameExplorer
Tarkbar & Start Menu: Microsoft-Windows-stobject
Tarkbar & Start Menu: Microsoft-Windows-explorer
Personalized Settings: Microsoft-Windows-uxtheme
Personalized Settings: Microsoft-Windows-themeui
Personalized Settings: Microsoft-Windows-shmig
Personalized Settings: Microsoft-Windows-shell32
Personalized Settings: Microsoft-Windows-CommandPrompt
If so, that, to me at least, represents a pretty significant change! We want the pinned items but not the backgrounds and themes so that specific change won't work for us, but glad to hear it meets your needs. (Also greatly appreciate your sharing
your results with us.)
I'll admit, even before reaching out to MS, the logs clearly show that the themes/backgrounds are all part of the 'Microsoft-Windows-shmig' component but dang it if I want something of substance (read: official documentation) that covers what exactly that
component handles. (I like to know what I'm potentially getting myself into.) -
Using a repeater to pass content to a title window
Hi I have a repeater that has a button and the button open a title window component from flex
So far I use the name property of the button to pass the title from the repeater to the title of the titlewindow
here it is:
Vimeo is the name of the repeater
<mx:button name="{vimeo.currentItem.title}"
on the as3:
myWindow.title=event.currentTarget.name;
so far I can open it with the names from the list.
Also I have an html inside of the title window and I want to set its location from the parameters of the repeater
so here is when it start to be hard to imagine a way to retrieve that information from the repeater and pass it to
the location.
here is my code.

myVimeoWindow.title = event.currentTarget.name;
var myHtml:HTML= new HTML;
myHtml.location={myText.text};//tried to make this happens though is always with error;
myHtml.width=800;
myHtml.height=600;
myHtml.x=0;

Photoshop CC 2014 - color panel resizing by itself?
Hello,
I am wondering if anyone else has reported (or even experienced) the new color panel in Photoshop CC 2014 resizing itself when maximizing and then restoring the Photoshop CC 20114 application frame?
Here are some images to illustrate the issue I am experiencing:
This is on initial launch of PS CC 2014 after install and then reboot.
This is the initial maximize of PS CC 2014 application frame (using green button).
This is the initial restore command (using green button).
This is the second maximize (using green button).
This is the second restore command (using green button).
This is the third maximize (using green button).
... and the fourth maximize (using green button).
As you can probably see through the progressive process that the color panel is stretching vertically with each maximize / restore combination. It seems to stop stretching after the fourth series.
Machine specs:
MacBook Pro 17" (late 2011)
2.5 Ghz. i7 Intel Processor
AMD Radeon HD 6770M - 1 GB VRAM
16 GB RAM - OWC Brand
480 GB SSD - OWC Brand
OS X 10.9.3 - Clean Install (all updates installed)
PRAM and SMC refreshed
Permissions repaired
Disk verified
Clean Install of:
Adobe Creative Cloud app
Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 app
Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 app
No plug-ins or other third-party add-ons.
I thought I would mention it in case this hasn't been reported yet (or perhaps there is something bizarre going on with my machine).
Thanks for any insight or acknowledgement.Just giving this a bump and a quick note.
I just performed a clean install of OS X 10.9.3 again on machine spec'd above and then installed Photoshop CS6 and Illustrator CS6 perpetual license versions. While the new color panel seen in PS CC 2014 is not part of CS6, I wanted to test to see if the color panel was resizing itself as I saw with PS CC 2014. It is not.
I am running Adobe CC 2014 versions at work on a Dell workstation under Windows 7 Professional. I will test on that system to see if the same resizing of color panel by itself occurs and post back sometime tomorrow.
Note - if an engineer, staff member or moderator could mention whether this has been logged as a potential issue that would be great. I will of course log a report with a link to this post this morning.
Thanks for any response. -
Change Windows colors in registry
Hi
Changing Windows colors in registry neither works here
HKCU/Control Panel/Colors
nor here
HKCU/Control Panel/Desktop/Colors
That means for example, that you can change the ActiveBorder color in the usual color dialog box: The registry value does not change in both of the above registry places.
Or
You can change the ActiveBorder color directly in the registry in both of the above registry places: The Windows ActiveBorder color does not change, even after a reboot.
Obviously the color is saved in a different registry-path.
Where exactly the Windows colors are saved in the registry, when you change them manually?
PatrickWindows7 was the last OS to feature full "Advanced Appearance" dialog. For Windows8, developers aggregated these
controls, providing simplified interface with magnification and themes selection. Sadly, this deferred expert users from genuinely customizing system's appearance. I am unsure
about current development stage, but there is hope that upcoming OS will have these
Advanced Settings incorporated into *.themes files; allowing greater customization power than pre-Win7 and enabling
users to create and share their own system Theme Packs (including backgrounds, screensavers, colors, metrics and their dynamics). If we are lucky, release of application and/or metro-app to facilitate creation, editing and management of Theme Packs should
be in order too.
At present (Windows10
TechPreview) we only have Control Panel page 'Display', providing multi-screen magnification control and some text formatting.
To manually customize colors (and appearance) in Win8, Win8.1 &
TechPreview, refer to article:

Have to agree with Noel: after Bill Gates left, Microsoft was pulled towards sales and monetization. (might be one of those
things transcending Cause&Consequence-Relationship, though). Basic research of company's history would reveal some failed/suspended ideologically ambitious
and technologically progressive projects from 20th century - wish they renew some of those.
With general folks mass-entering digital sphere, last decade had a few good years for social media and
googly entertainment; - for serious IT? -not
so much. At the same time, Intel signed some dubious licenses with Apple, effectively preventing them
from developing PC graphic drivers for PowerVR-sgx5 chips. What later on, combined with Metro resolution limitations and UAC enforcement, was very convenient for MS Surfaces' sales. Thankfully,
now Bill Gates is back and Microsoft has "always so good" future goals, again.

How to use IMAQ extract color panel in a LabView file?
I want to change a color image into a greyscale image. Therefore I want to use the function IMAQ extract color panels but I don't know how to insert it in my LabView application.
Please, can anyone give me some advice ?!!!
Thx, BirgitBirgit,
If you want all of the color planes, you can use IMAQ ExtractColorPlanes. Allocate an 8-bit image for each of the color planes. Wire the original color image and each of the 8-bit images for the color planes on the left and bottom of the vi. The outputs on the right side will be the same images, and they will each contain the desired color plane. The input at the top of the vi controls which color planes are extracted (RGB, HSI, etc.) Grayscale will probably be the I plane in HSI.
If you just want a grayscale image, use IMAQ ExtractSingleColorPlane instead. Wire the color image to Image Src, and wire an 8-bit image to Image Dest. Select the color plane using the top input, and it will come out on the right side.

Why not just run the ThinkVantage System Update and let it install as usual. You can also "un-check" those drivers that you don't want to install.

How do I change the default window color?
Having white screens is too bright for my eyes!! I always change the default window color in Windows (hiss hiss) to a light shade of gray and that setting carries thru to all windows (i.e. Word, Excel, notepad....). Is it possible to do a similar thing with Tiger? I see that I can choose between a couple of "schemes" from a "Desktop and Dashboard Settings" area (or similar - i don't have my mac here now so can't look to see the proper name) but I see no way to alter colors within those schemes. If you can tell me how to change the default color for my windows I will be awfully happy. thanks.
Personally, I wouldn't trust it, and I don't hesitate to try these things most of the time even though they sometimes cause problems. But I've used Unsanity products before and they all require installing a preference pane called APE; Application Enhancement module, and that thing caused me lots of problems for my system, lots of crashes and flakiness. I won't use it again.
But I'm sure there are lots of people using it happily, but if you don't feel confident in dealing with system problems stay away from anything that adds a system preference pane or goes up in the top menu bar at the top (Apple icons excepted) or has to start up with the system. -
Calling a method in Parent component from Title Window
Hi all,
I have a parent component that opens up a Title window when I
click a button. Now I want to call a method in that parent
component from the Title window. How do I do this in Flex? Could
anyone give me a hint please.

You absolutely _do_ have the capability to pass in a
reference to the parent
component, or to create a "hard" reference to
Application.application. But
these are not recommended practices, because anything you
create this way is
then tied to an environment that implements those properties
and methods.
Q (3): I want to run a function in my main application from
inside my
custom component. But when I try to refer to myFunction() in
that
component, I get a compile time error Call to a possibly
undefined function
myFunction. How can I fix this?
A: Your component has its own scope, so it doesn't know
anything
about the functions in the main file. You can get around this
by directly
referencing the main application scope like this:
Application.application.myFunction(). However, this makes
your component
tightly coupled, which is a quick way of saying that your
component is only
usable in an application that has a myFunction() function in
it. You're
better off dispatching an event from your component and
letting the
application decide how to handle it. For more information,
