TNT4882 and microcontroller

Does anybody have informations on programming TNT4882 in microcontroller environnement. The application note concerning TNT4882 and 8051 is not very helpful for me.
Thanks in advance

Hi Nathanel,
If you are making a new desing we recommend using the TNT4882 in one chip since it gives you access to the advanced features of the chip, such as the FIFO. In any case you can also use the chip in 7210 or 9914 compatible mode. Actually the one chip mode is a superset of the 7210 mode.
Practically all the documentation on the GPIB ASICs is available at:
http://www.ni.com/support/gpib/reg_prog.htm
There are a couple of tutorial on using the TNT4882 with a couple of processors (AN77 and AN73).
You can also check: Porting a 9914 Design to Use the TNT4882
The ESP code provides you with a complete driver to use
the TNT4882. You might want to check the ESP-488TL Software Reference Manual for TNT4882 to see how it works?. I guess that the problem of using the ESP for a given microcontroller depends if there is a C compiler for that uController.

  • Interfacing between labview and microcontroller using rs 232

hi my task is to generate a wavefrom of certain frequency and certain duty cycle in labview and feed it to pic18f452 microcontroller and the o/p of microcontroller when connected to CRO should display the same frequency and duty cycle which was fed from labview.
for that when i am sending decimal data from labview microcontrolle is receiving ascii data for eg 62(decimal) gives 36 and 32 respectively in microcontroller registers and when i use type cast function and convert the decimal data into ascii data and then sending it to uc it gives hex o/p so i am confused that how to solve this problem
    pls guide me

  • Accessing device registers and microcontroller registers using java

We are writing an application that needs to work with any kind of microcontroller(more specifically targetted towards 8051 and 80188/86 microcontrollers) in a constrained memory environment with code/data not
more than 128 KB or at the most 256 KB.
We would look at using the JVM in hardware rather than software as an accelerator chip on our boards..
However I wanted to know whether there is a way wherein I can accomplish the above platform independence for microcontroller and still access low level registers for the memory mapped I/O devices using Java..
If anybody knows about this please let me know at
    [email protected]

Not in pure Java, although you can do that in JNI. But if this is the main purpose of your program, you might as well use C++ or some more low-level language.

  • How to communicate b/w PC and microcontroller through USB ports

    Hi All
I am Using LV8.0 FDS and VISA 3.1
I am trying to communicate my PC with ATMEL microcontroller( just writing and reading string commands) similar to serial communication. For that i need to develop a USB driver in LV.
As i am new to USB communication , i have gone through the USB instrument control tutorial. i had few questions from it.
How to know the class of the USb device(ATMEL microcontroller)?
Any h/w or s/ w needed to be installed to perform usb communcation(i have already installed the drivers CD that come with FDS)?
When to use USBRaw Bulk mode and When to use USBRaw Control mode?
When to use VISA write/read vi's and when to use USB control in/out vi's?
Also how to detect whether it is a USBTMC device or USB Raw device?
I am trying hard with these questions. but i didn't get the solution.
So plz suggest me with solutions .and attach examples if any which may clarify my doubts

There are several great resources in our KnowledgeBase and Developer Zone that discuss USB RAW control with LabVIEW.  These address many of your questions.
KnowledgeBase: How Can I Communicate With a Device Using NI-VISA USB RAW Mode?
Developer Zone: USB RAW Control Communication in LabVIEW
Take a look at those documents, and the related links in both of them--that should help you get started.

  • Xbee pro 60mw wire antenna and Labview guidance needed

I have some questions regarding zigbee and labview interface. I'm currently working on a project and this is my first time using zigbee and labview.
In my project, I want to transmit data wirelessly between two zigbees where data is the output that sensors generate by reading humans body temperature and heart rate(pulse).
I want to use the labview to display the values and data in a graphical way and ultimately to a TFT display. Right now, I'm using Mega pro 2560 and XBee Pro 60mW Wire Antenna - Series 1 (802.15.4).
All the sensors are off the shelf sensors from Sparkfun and they are connected to microcontroller.
I want to know if my steps are correct.
First, I have succeeded in sensors trasmitting its output to microcontroller. Then microcontroller stores data in SD card connected to microcontroller before tramitting them to the receiver..
Second, by using X-ctu, set up some configuration between two zigbees such as baud rate.
And this is kinda where I'm stuck at. My receiver(Xbee pro) is connected to ftdi then to PC using the USB cable. My transmitter(Xbee pro), sensors and microcontroller are connected to breadboard powered by lithium ion battery.
Could you please give me some tips or steps how you would go about using the labview at this point? Do you need some code for labview and zigbee interface?
I'm sort of new to this. If you can help, I would really appreaciate it.

I got stuck in this part. Can you check out the last reply I made in this forum : https://decibel.ni.com/content/message/49209
Also, from my receiver end(xbee pro) that is connected to PC through ftdi,
I was wondering how you would go about designing the serial communication from the receiver to Labview display.
The file attached is kind of thing I want to do. I have three major sensor data to display(heart rate, body temperature, and motion speed).
I want to show them to three graphical disaplay at the same time.
Can you give me some tips on designing the labview part? and also I would really appreacite if you could give me some tip on fixing the error I first stated in another forum. Refering any related forum would be helpful. Thanks a lot.

  • For Sale: PCI GPIB cards.

i have a couple of GPIB cards for sale from National Intruments
give me an offer if you are interested.

Thanks for the answer. Rev K and later for the older boards, and all new boards.
    But then your documentation
is incorrect if you look at the "overview" section below the prices which seems to imply that OS 9 will work with this board. The description for the older TNT4882 based board is different and discusses only OS 9.
The description of the board is:
    Name: NATI,pci-gpib
    Type: ndrv
    Bus: PCI
    Slot: SLOT-4
    Vendor ID: 0x1093
    Device ID: 0xc801
    Revision ID: 0x0001
And the only thing that changees is the last part that is the revision ID? Is the name field the same since that is what my driver uses to identify the board. I suppose I should change that to use the Dev
ice ID field. I am hoping that the NI DDK which my driver is based uses the "one chip mode" and will work equally well with both the TNT4882 and TNT5004 if you know anything about the NI GPIB DDK and the TNT5004 it would be most helpful.
Are their major differences internally for the PCI-GPIB/LP board so that the GPIB DDK based driver would not work with that? If so, does that have a PCI Name or Device ID that I can tell my driver to service.
Thanks again for the prompt answer.

Getting Started with Labview.pdf ‏901 KB

    Hi Ashwin,
I am not familiar with the PIC Microcontrollers, but I am assuming you mean that you have the microcontroller sending out serial data that you want to read on another computer with LabVIEW. Please let me know if this is incorrect.
What type of data is coming out of the serial port? Is it ASCII, or binary? The reason I ask this is that the serial communication in LabVIEW is done through a protocol called VISA, which uses ASCII data to send and receive. You can later convert this data into whatever form you need, but this is what it is designed to read and write.
You can check the settings such as baud rate and data bits in a configuration utility called Measurement and Automation Explorer, or MAX. When you open up the MAX interface, you can expand the Devices and Interfaces entry on the left, and then expand the Ports entry to see your serial port. When you highlight this port, select the Port Settings tab at the bottom of the window, and you can see what the current settings are, and change them if you need to. You can also set these parameters in LabVIEW using the VISA Configure Serial Port VI.
You can also test communication in MAX by right clicking on the correct port and choosing Open VISA Session. Then choose the Basic I/O light blue tab, and then go to the Read tab. When you click execute, it should read in what is coming from the serial port. This will allow you to verify that the correct information is coming in before even trying to acquire the data in the LabVIEW environment.
In LabVIEW, the best resource to use the Basic Serial Write and Read example program that ships with LabVIEW. By examining the block diagram of this program, you will be able to see the basic programming flow of serial communication in LabVIEW.
I hope this information was helpful! Please let us know if there's anything else we can help with.

  • How can I create code for PIC and Freescale microcontrolles and perform simulation?

Hi. I am new to LabView.
I would like to simulate code (C or assembly) for the PIC and Freescale microcontrollers. I would further like to
use oscilloscope to monitor the pins behavior. Is this possible? If yes what software should I use?
Please feel welcome to suggest any resources that might be helpfull.
    Thanks

    Hi SweetOrange,
If you have a vi you would like to run on a PIC or Freescale microcontroller and have a compiler for these devices that recognizes C, you can use the C Code Generator to create C code that your compiler can use.

  • Adafruit flora microcontroller and labview, please help!

    Hello,
I am using an Adafruit Flora wearable platform, which is arduino compatible along with a few Adafruit neopixels (LEDs) and a flora lux sensor (light sensor) and I would like to develop a LabView code to use the sensor and LEDs controlled via the Arduino-compatible wearable platform as an optical spectrometer to measure light absorbance in real time.
I am new to programming, so I would like to know if someone could please provide some tips on how to start this project or if there are any examples of labview and arduino for real time optical measurements?
    Thank you so much.
    I really appreciate your help.
    Kary.

    Hi Kary,
Though someone here may have great advice or knowledge about this microcontroller, the LabVIEW forums are specifically targeted towards issue within the software, not so much hardware integration.  That said, we have hardware forums dedicated to different products, where you may find more support and an active community of people, examples, and other helpful resources.  The link below is for our online Arduino community.  I would encourage you to post in the discussions there, as they will have more experience with the Arduino, and perhaps even your specific microcontroller!

  • Is to possible to control a motor by using fuzzy logic toolbox in Labview and motor interfaced with PIC microcontroller

    sir
I am doing a  PG project on fuzy logic control of robotic arm,In this first i need to write a code in LABVIEW fuzzy toolbox and interface that that code with PIC where motor is connected and a tachogenerator should be connected to motor to send speed to LABVIEW through PIC microcontroller where ADC is inbuilt in it.
Please help sir me whether  it is possible to do that ,if not tell me do i require any interfacing device  ,I am very new to labview

Now for this problem, Fuzzy can be easily used to control the plant. Here is the softwares that would help in this task:
    - LabVIEW Full Development System (FDS) 2009 or later - The is the LV version that allow you accessing the latest Fuzzy Logic develoment
    - LabVIEW PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit 2009 - This has PID and Fuzzy Logic functions available for you to develop your controller
    - LabVIEW Control Design and Simulation Module 2009 - This is a complete set of functions that allow you to simulate and develop advanced control applications. In your case, you probably will be using this module for simulation of the DC motor.
Now, you also will need a way to read the encoder and control the voltage applied to the motor. You have several options from NI for that process. Probably a multi-function Board could help since they have digital counters and Analog Output signals. However, I can't recommend what would be best for this application, but the ideal platform is the CompactRIO platform for your application. They have a Real-Time controller and integrated Input/Output modules with signal conditioning that could allow you to directly drive the DC motor. I would advice to go to our webside (http://www.ni.com/compactrio/) and verify what this platform does. For this platform, you will also need the following sofrware:
    - LabVIEW Real-Time Module 2009 - Allow you to develop you application in Real-Time for deployment.
    Hope this helps.
