To Absolute postion or not to Absolution position

I have heard in docs and out on internet blogs talking about
performance hit that flex gets when there are too many nested
containers, and suggestions to use alternative /css solutions,
possibly absolute possitioning to improve performance, on other
hand I have evangelists who are strictly against absolute
positioning favoring (width="100%") theory, so as currently I am
in-front of 50,000 lines of code, and many many nested components I
would really use some advice if what is really a practical way of
getting read of :
<mx:Hbox>
-<mx:VBox>
--<mx:form>
---<mx:Hbox> etc ..

I too have heard these concerns and we usually opt for a
constraint based layout to avoid many levels of nesting. For issues
regarding performance details you might want to try the Yahoo
Groups flexcoders group. Many of the Flex engineers respond to
issues and would have a more complete answer for you. Here's a link

Coders.

    Whenever I ask Siri a question it just links me to a website instead of just saying the answer.  The reason I ask Siri is because i am not in a position to look at my phone.  How can I get Siri to just answer my questions??

    I found that the only time Siri will read anything to you is if it finds a Wikipedia article. Siri will let you know it found that, and ask if you want it to be read out loud. Other than that you will hear the "I found this, take a look".
    The only other thing you can do is activate "Speak Screen". It will involve you taking a look at your phone for a moment, selecting what you'd like to look at, but Siri will read the content to you. It's in Settings > General > Accessibility.  Once activated, all you have to do is slide two fingers from the top of the screen and you will have it read to you. I use it all the time because of my astigmatism. It's pretty useful.

  • Why is my BDC_CURSOR command not working to position the cursor?

    Why is my BDC_CURSOR command not working to position the cursor?  Here are the details regarding my issue.
    I am writing a BDC to mass delete routing material assignments using transaction CA02.  I am OK to navigate through the initial screen to go to the Header screen and from here I am OK to navigate to the Material Assignments screen.  But once here, I cannot get the BDC_CURSOR command to take me into the list.  Here are the commands I am using.  Please let me know what I may try differently.
    CA02 Material Assignment - Set position  <-- this resets list of materials to correct position
      PERFORM bdc_dynpro      USING 'SAPLCZDI'   '1010'.
      PERFORM bdc_field       USING 'BDC_CURSOR'  'RC27X-ENTRY_ACT'.
      PERFORM bdc_field       USING 'BDC_OKCODE'   '=ENT1'.
      PERFORM bdc_field       USING 'RC27X-ENTRY_ACT'  c_position.
    CA02 Material Assignment - Delete
      PERFORM bdc_dynpro      USING 'SAPLCZDI'   '1010'.
      PERFORM bdc_field       USING 'BDC_CURSOR'  'MAPL-MATNR(01)'.    <-- this is not working to set the cursor into the list
      PERFORM bdc_field       USING 'BDC_OKCODE'  '=LOE'.             " trash can
      PERFORM bdc_field       USING 'RC27X-ENTRY_ACT'  c_position.

      PERFORM bdc_field       USING 'BDC_OKCODE'   '=BACK'.            " check mark
      PERFORM bdc_field       USING 'RC27X-ENTRY_ACT'  c_position.

    Thank you for your reply.
    I had used SM35 to record.  However, I was not aware of the "create program" feature.  I had commented out a section from my previous post which I have now added back (latest code below).  But it still did not resolve the issue.
    When I execute with dismode = 'N', I get back error message "No batch input data for screen SAPLCZDI 1010".
    When I execute with dismode = 'E' (only show dynpros when error), it stops at the material selection screen without placing my cursor in the list.  I can then MANUALLY click to set the cursor position in the list, MANUALLY click the trashcan, it then uses my BDC command to respond to the popup asking "Do you want to delete", still leaving me at the material selection screen.  I can then MANUALLY click the green check (or enter), then it continues with the BDC to go back to the previous screen, and saves.  But it still will not place my cursor in the material selection list (SAPLCZDI screen 1010).
    Here is code used.  It is the second section of code labeled "CA02 Material Assignment - Delete" that is not working.
    CA02 Material Assignment - Set position
    this code functions to position the desired material to first in screen list
      PERFORM bdc_dynpro      USING 'SAPLCZDI' '1010'.
      PERFORM bdc_field       USING 'BDC_CURSOR'
                                    'RC27X-ENTRY_ACT'.
      PERFORM bdc_field       USING 'BDC_OKCODE'
                                    '=ENT1'.
      PERFORM bdc_field       USING 'RC27X-ENTRY_ACT'

    CA02 Material Assignment - Delete
      PERFORM bdc_dynpro      USING 'SAPLCZDI' '1010'.

      PERFORM bdc_field       USING 'RC27X-ENTRY_ACT'
                                     c_position.

      PERFORM bdc_dynpro      USING 'SAPLSPO1' '0100'.
      PERFORM bdc_field       USING 'BDC_OKCODE'
                                    '=YES'.
    CA02 Material Assignment - Green Check OK
      PERFORM bdc_dynpro      USING 'SAPLCZDI' '1010'.

                                    'RC27X-ENTRY_ACT'.

  • Scroll bar does not retain its position after or before pack

    Hi
    My Scroll bar does not retain its position after pack in my application.
    But i need to retain its state.
    My code snippet is :
    System.out.println("VAlue--->" + getHXValue());
    scrollPane.getHorizontalScrollBar().setValue(getHXValue());
    pack();
    My VAlue printed is 100.
    But my positon of scroll bar is at 0 th location.
    Can any one help me.....

    Swing related questions should be posted in the Swing forum.
    My code snippet is :Snippets don't help.
    If you need further help then you need to create a "Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE)",
    see http://homepage1.nifty.com/algafield/sscce.html,
    that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour, because I can't guess exactly what you are doing based on the information provided.
    Don't forget to use the "Code Formatting Tags",
    see http://forum.java.sun.com/help.jspa?sec=formatting,
    so the posted code retains its original formatting.

  • Preview app WILL NOT retain window position

    This one is annoying the s$@t out of me...I work on a two monitor set up (which I dont even believe is a factor)...but Preview is the only app that will not remember its position - in fact - every time I open a PDF, its position changes.... even when setting ALL PDF's to the center of my screen.. When I open it again a 2nd time, it is different. It is actually splitting between both of my screens (most on the left, some on the right)
    I tried deleting the PLIST file for Preview, but it does not work...
    Anyone have any ideas?

    I know exactly what you mean. I've been looking for a solution myself, as I have an unusual two-monitor setup. It seems to only be an issue when opening PDF's, like you mentioned. I've tried modifying PDFDocument.nib to change the initial starting location, but it doesn't seem to help, for some reason. If anyone is curious about what we're talking about, I took a screenshot:

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • TDMS error - "Cursor Not in correct position" - please advise

    Hello,
    We've spent some time building the TDMS landscape: we have 3 systems for source, TDMS and target respectively. We've applied DMIS & DMIS_CNT packages successfully to all 3 systems. We've added users, assigned the profile SAP_TDMS_MASTER to them, and generated the profiles successfully - again on all 3 systems.
    We now wish to create a package to move from source to target. We can create Project, but when we try to create subproject we get "User XXX is not assigned to project subprojects". An associated error is "Cursor Not in correct position". It's the latter error we get consistently if we click on any of the TDMS overview buttons e.g. RFC Information, Register Users etc.
    The notes we've read state that DMIS and DMIS_CNT should suffice. We've read thru many related notes - 890797 in particular - and have implemented those steps.
    We've tried finding hits online for this error, but to no avail. Can you please advise on what steps we need to take to solve this error?
    Regards,
    P.Sl Basis

    Hi Srila,
    We'd already implemented note 889988. But we went back and reimplemented, then regenerated the profile. We still have the error of "Cursor Not in correct position". But now when we try to create a subproject, we get "User XXX does not have required authority to to execute this activity". We can no longer create new Projects either, and we can't edit previously created Projects.
    The userid in question has the profile T_CP130021 SAP_TDMS_MASTER, and the role SAP_TDMS_MASTER. So why do we get this authority issue?
    We created an OSS with message number (0001047332 2008).

  • MSS Hire form not populating vacancy positions

    Hi, recently we have done QA server refresfh activity and taken the replica of Production server. Now the issue is after refresh
    1. Hire form not populating vacancy positions from R/3.
    2. In MSS Employee search with personal number showing no data found. Could you please suggest?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Krishna

    Hi,
    I have investigated further and could find something as below:-
    1. There is a standard method DETERMINE_SEARCHHELP from class CL_HRPA_GENERIC_F4 which gets called.
    2. Inside this method there is a function module F4IF_DETERMINE_SEARCHHELP which inturn calls function module DD_SHLP_GET_HELPMETHOD. The later function module takes tablename, fieldname, and sy-langu as parameter to give SHLP as search help output. Following values are getting passed to the function module:-
                                         Tablename = HRASR00_HIRE_F4_CORE_FIELDS
                                         Fielname = PLANS
                                         Sy-langu = E (Default)
    However this returns parameter SHLP as blank.
    There is a subroutine 'shared_buffer_imp_interface' in the function module DD_SHLP_GET_HELPMETHOD which has the following IMPORT statement:-
    IMPORT shlp
             callcontrol-attachkind
             timestamp timerelobj_tab
             FROM SHARED BUFFER ddshoffld(if) ID sh_buf_id.
    This IMPORT statement is returning sy-subrc EQ 4 and hence finally SHLP does not have any value. So the position dropdown is not populating.
    Also when the following parameter is passed, we get F4 help for PERSG (Employee group field):-
                      Tablename = HRASR00_HIRE_F4_CORE_FIELDS
                      Fielname = PERSG
                      Sy-langu = E (Default)
    This is because in this case, the above IMPORT statement returns the table T501 and T501T and hence finally SHLP has the value.
    Can anyone of you please provide me your expert opinion as to how i can get this working for fieldname = PLANS and hence position dropdown.
    Thanks,
    Rupesh

  • All time Bug! Accordion widget does not retain content position as in design view

    I have noticed that content placed inside an accordion widget that is stretched to fill browser width do not retain the position of its elements. This is very annoying as ones layout does not look right and balanced across screen.

    That was it KathH --- THANKS!!!
    Had created the row w/out <td> cells to carry the top banner (sort of cheating) on spanning the cells i guess ( )
    Anyway, re-wrote so that the banner table was independant and did not require span and picked up the data table independantly.
    Problem solved and designer picked up the image precisely.
    Thanks again!!!
    Curious though that the image is dependant on the <td> tag.  I would have expected any image called within the page to display in the designer regardless of location in the html.
    Oh well, fixed and onto the next challenge.
    Once more THANKS!!!

  • AP Div tag's absolute postioning not working

    I have been trying to figure this problem out for about 2 hours and I have nothing. Div tags 98-101 are positioned in the right place when I'm looking at my page in Dreamweaver. But when I preview the page, those 4 div tags are not where they're supposed to be (they're in the bottom right of the page, hundreds of pixels from where they're supposed to be). Any ideas?
    Here's the code if it will help. Sorry its really long.

    I thought I was reading it wrong, but you really do have 101 AP divs on the page. I don't have the time to go through your code, but using absolutely positioned divs as the sole basis for page layout is likely to lead to massive problems. AP divs (or layers, as they used to be called) were all the rage several years ago, because people wrongly thought they would make web pages work like desktop publishing. I used them, too, until I realized they caused massive problems.
    It won't solve your current problem, I'm afraid, but I recommend that you take a look at the following page, which describes some of the problems with AP div/layers: http://apptools.com/examples/pagelayout101.php.

  • Elements in JPanel not painting when positioned absolutely

    I am designing a superclass that extends JPanel which will have methods like addTextField(int x, int y, int w, int h). Basically it just creates the named component at the given coordinates, positioned absolutely on the panel.
    Here's the important snipits of my code... but nothing shows up on the window when I run the applet that uses these panels. It's just blank. Can anyone tell me why?
    public class MinionsGCPanel extends JPanel implements ActionListener, ListSelectionListener
    <snip>
         // Constructor
         public MinionsGCPanel(MinionsGC svr){
              super();
              server = svr;
              setLayout(null);
              setSize(800, 600);
              setVisible(true);
              components = new ArrayList<Component>();
         // Add a component
         protected void add(Component com, int x, int y, int w, int h){
              com.setBounds(x, y, w, h);
              components.add(com);
         // Add a label
         protected MLabel addLabel(int x, int y, int w, int h, String text){
              MLabel l = new MLabel(text);
              add(l, x, y, w, h);
              return l;
    <snip>
         // Repaint
         public void paint(Graphics g){
              super.paint(g);
              Iterator it = components.iterator();
              while(it.hasNext()){
                   Component c = (Component) it.next();
                   c.repaint();
    }Edited by: L4E_WakaMol-King on Oct 29, 2007 10:23 PM

    Here's an actual instance of a subclass of that class:
    public class LoginPanel extends MinionsGCPanel
    <snip>
         // Constructor
         public LoginPanel(MinionsGC svr){
              super(svr);
         // Draw GUI
         public void refresh(){
              super.refresh();
              username = addTextField(50, 50, 200, 20);
              password = addPasswordField(50, 80, 200, 20);
              loginButton = addButton(50, 110, 100, 20, "Login");
    <snip>
    }And the applet itself:
    public class MinionsGC extends JApplet
    <snip>
         // Prompt for login
         public void dologin(){
              switchPanels(loginPanel);
    <snip>
         // Load Panels
         public void loadPanels(){
              loginPanel = new LoginPanel(this);
              chatPanel = new ChatPanel(this);
              logoffPanel = new LogoffPanel(this);
    <snip>
         // Switch panels
         public void switchPanels(MinionsGCPanel p){
              p.refresh();
              setContentPane(p);
              currentPanel = p;
              validate();
    <snip>

    Hello Nofil,
    This is probably happening because you have made a copy of the VI without changing the name/ location on the disc. I have saved a copy of the VI for you, it is in LabVIEW 2010 SP1, please ask if you want this in a previous version.

  • System not sensing mouse position

    Starting today, my computer (iMac G5 PPC) no longer senses the position of my mouse pointer. For instance:
    - The dock doesn't magnify when the mouse is in it
    - None of the corners activate things like screensaver, expose, desktop
    - When I select a menu in the menu bar, moving the mouse over another menu item doesn't open that menu.
    In other words, OSX simply has no clue where my mouse pointer is located as I move it for all those neat automatic things. Yet, I can still use the mouse to click on items to make them work, then OSX knows where the mouse is.
    I've rebooted several times to no effect, but did notice something. As apps start up, the instant a window opens, OSX will sense the mouse position for that brief moment. For example, putting the mouse over the dock doesn't magnify, but when an app window appears, the dock will magnify that very instance. Moving the mouse out of the dock area doesn't unmagnify the dock, it's stuck in that state until either another window opens, causing OSX to sense the new position, or I click any mouse button which all gets OSX's attention and senses the mouse position.
    The pointer never changes when I'm over things like Links.
    Strange stuff. The mouse moves fine, it's just not being detected as it moves.
    Now, yesterday I installed a new ScanSnap scanner with the ScanSnap Manager software and Acrobat Standard ver. 7. But the mouse didn't have this behavior yesterday, or even this morning. This strange problem just appeared out of the blue mid-day today.
    I've since used Disk Utility and Onyx, and re-installed the 10.4.9 update. I switched to another user account, no difference, so it's definitely system wide.
    This doesn't stop me from using my iMac, but I just don't know how to fix this mouse issue besides a OSX re-install.

    Ok everybody, I finally got proper behavior, it's just too bad I'm not sure of the procedure.
    When I go to bed I usually run the mouse pointer to the upper left corner to activate the screensaver. Of course it didn't work. But I also knew that clicking a button causes the mouse to be sensed, so I was pushing some of the buttons while in the corner to see if I could get the screensaver going.
    Well, after doing this, everything is back to normal operation again. So, I fixed it totally by accident. Makes me wonder if there's some features that are turned on and off somehow by doing whatever it was I did up in that corner.
    Just so you know, I use a Logitech Cordless Optical Trackman. I swapped to the original Apple corded mouse but that made no difference.
    I never had a chance to try the suggestions since I just read them before posting this.
    Anyway, I hope I don't do again whatever it was that caused the behavior, but I am going to store this info in DEVONthink just in case something like this happens again.
    Anyway, it would still be interesting if someone could shed some light on this fix I accidently found. Perhaps some hidden capabilities/features? Or just dumb luck?

  • Audiobooks not remembering last position

    I've seen this problem for years in the forums and have never submitted a comment thinking this would be resolved, but at this point I'm so frustrated, might as well resubmit this issue.
    I listen to lots of audiobooks on my iPhone.  Sometimes while listening to an audiobook, maybe I want to press the pause button in order to do something like talk to my wife for a couple minutes.  When I press pause again, to resume my audiobook, the position is no longer in the same place, it may be an hour or so back from where I originally started.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.  I'd say it's about 30/70 that is works.  Now I don't listen to more than one audiobook at a time (or music), so I'm never swtiching between books, I'm just clicking pause.
    Yes, I've verified in iTunes -> Get Info -> Options that the Remember Position = Yes
    Yes, I've read another post that says, if I want to pause, I should press pause, then start another audiobook and let it play for 5 seconds, then it will remember the first pause.
    As a software developer myself, it seems very simple to remember a position when clicking a pause button.  Apple, can you please fix this bug which has existed in your system for several years.
    FYI, I'm using the iPhone 4 on the latest iOS (6.1.3).
    Please, please, please fix this.
    Todd

    I wish it would just work but I found something.
    I found it was happening when I downloaded directly to my phone. I now sync with itunes and delete book from iphone. then move it back to my phone and it works. Ugly but works for me.
