To Pick the oldest file using shell script

Hi All,
I want to pick the oldest file among the below files in the shell program. I don't know the file name but i know the file extension.
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle    dba   0 Jul 10 13:39 1.sh
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle   dba    0 Jul 10 13:39 2.sh
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle   dba    0 Jul 10 13:39 3.sh
-rwxr--r-- 1 oracle   dba   7123 Apr  7  2011 xxampp.sh
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle  dba    1 Jul 10 12:57 xxaampps.sh
Here i want to create a shell program  to pick the xxampp.sh which is created earlier.
Please help me to achieve this task.
Thanks in advance.

Nikunj

  • How to get ORA errors in alertlog file using shell script.

    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me how to get all ORA errors between two particular times in an alertlog file using shell script.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You can define the alert log as an external table, and extract messages with SQL, very cool:
    http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_oracle_alert_log_sql_external_tables.htm
    If you want to write a shell script to scan the alert log, see here:
    http://www.rampant-books.com/book_2007_1_shell_scripting.htm
    #!/bin/ksh
    # log monitoring script
    # report all errors (and specific warnings) in the alert log
    # which have occurred since the date
    # and time in last_alerttime_$ORACLE_SID.txt
    # parameters:
    # 1) ORACLE_SID
    # 2) optional alert exclusion file [default = alert_logmon.excl]
    # exclude file format:
    # error_number error_number
    # error_number ...
    # i.e. a string of numbers with the ORA- and any leading zeroes that appear
    # e.g. (NB the examples are NOT normally excluded)
    # ORA-07552 ORA-08006 ORA-12819
    # ORA-01555 ORA-07553

    The following should give you a head start:
    Create the following file i.e. scott_export.sh
    #!/bin/bash
    MAILADR="[email protected]"
    EXPDIR="/home/oracle/datapump"
    EXPDIR4SQL="'$EXPDIR'"
    DUMPFILE="export_`date +%N`.dmp"
    LOGFILE="export_`date +%N`.log"
    ORACLE_SID=test; export ORACLE_SID
    PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin; export PATH
    ORAENV_ASK=NO
    . /usr/local/bin/oraenv
    mkdir -p $EXPIDR 2>/dev/null
    sqlplus -s /nolog <<EOF
    connect / as sysdba
    set pages 0 feed off
    create or replace directory datapump as $EXPDIR4SQL;
    grant read, write on directory datapump to scott;
    exit
    EOF
    expdp scott/tiger tables=EMP,DEPT \
          transport_full_check=y \
          directory=datapump dumpfile=$DUMPFILE logfile=$LOGFILE
    gzip $EXPDIR/$DUMPFILE >> $EXPDIR/$LOGFILE
    cat $EXPDIR/$LOGFILE | mailx -s "$LOGFILE" $MAILADR
    # ENDGive execute privileges:
    $ chmod 750 scott_export.sh
    The above script should also work as a cron job.

    Not certain this is what you're after, but this :
    #import the contents of both csv files
    $dbexcel=import-csv c:\dbexcel.csv
    $liveexcel=import-csv C:\liveexcel.csv
    #prepare the output csv and create the headers
    $outputexcel="c:\outputexcel.csv"
    $outputline="Name,Connection Status,Version,DbExcel,LiveExcel"
    $outputline | out-file $outputexcel
    #Loop through each record based on the number of records (assuming equal number in both files)
    for ($i=0; $i -le $dbexcel.Length-1;$i++)
    # Assign the yes / null values to equal the word equivalent
    if ($dbexcel.isavail[$i] -eq "yes") {$dbavail="Available"} else {$dbavail="Unavailable"}
    if ($liveexcel.isavail[$i] -eq "yes") {$liveavail="Available"} else {$liveavail="Unavailable"}
    #create the live of csv content from the two input csv files
    $outputline=$dbexcel.name[$i] + "," + $liveexcel.'connection status'[$i] + "," + $dbexcel.version[$i] + "," + $dbavail + "," + $liveavail
    #output that line to the csv file
    $outputline | out-file $outputexcel -Append
    should do what you're looking for, or give you enough to edit it to your exact need.
    I've assumed that the dbexcel.csv and liveexcel.csv files live in the root of c:\ for this, that they include the header information, and that the outputexcel.csv file will be saved to the same place (including headers).

  • How to use the result of simple shell script?

    The shell script below retrieves the length of an audio file:
    set aFile to choose file
    do shell script "afinfo " & quoted form of (POSIX path of aFile) & "|grep duration"
    I'm wondering, how can I copy the result to the clipboard or set the value of a variable to it?
    Total newbie question. I have no idea about shell scripts - I just found the script above online.
    Thank you so much!

    Here:
    set the clipboard to (do shell script "afinfo " & quoted form of (POSIX path of aFile) & "|grep duration")

    set A to do shell script "afinfo " & quoted form of (POSIX path of aFile) & "|grep duration"

  • Please help me remove the last elements of shell script from my applescript

    I read somewhere that running a shell script in an applescript was inefficient and created extra overhead, fine, so I am trying to take all of my shell script out of my applescript (this should fix issues with forward slashes in names as well...)
    however I am stuck on these last two lines (I know they are probably trivial but I've been up waaaay too long now) so I was wondering if anyone would be awesome enough to show me how to convert the bash to applescript.
    --does a recursive copy and rename
    do shell script "cp -R " & (thePath as text) & " " & (theOtherPathWithFile as text)
    --does a copy and rename, then a simple move
    do shell script "cp " & (quoted form of (POSIX path of this_item as text)) & " " & (theNewPath as text) & "&& mv " & (theOtherPathWithFile as text) & " ~/Desktop"
    Any and all help will be appreciated.

    There isn't anything wrong with using shell scripts, especially since AppleScript is designed to do this very thing. There is some overhead when using do shell script, just as there is some overhead when using an application tell statement, so it just depends on what you are doing.
    The performance of any particular script would also be up to whatever is acceptable to you (or your customers), and sometimes a shell script is the most efficient way to do something. Many of the system utilities are just GUI front-ends to a shell script, so they can't be all bad.
    To do your file copy or move with the Finder, you will need to tell it to duplicate or move the item(s) (there is that pesky overhead again). Shell scripts use POSIX paths while the Finder uses colons as its path delimiter, so you will need to use the correct file path references - there is a decent article about that at Satimage. Once your file paths have been defined (or using something like choose file or choose folder)), your script would be something like:
    <pre style="
    font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
    font-size: 10px;
    font-weight: normal;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 5px;
    border: 1px solid #000000;
    width: 720px;
    color: #000000;
    background-color: #DAFFB6;
    overflow: auto;"
    title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor">
    tell application "Finder"
    duplicate source to destination
    -- move source to destination
    end tell
    </pre>
    See the Finder and *System Events* scripting dictionaries for more information about the ways they deal with files.

    > i mean  in first attampt "a.txt"; file will be picked up by FTP adapter and will be deleted/archived from source location AND again by mistake if "a.txt"; file comes in source directory then i want to avoide to process the same file again.
    >
    > is it not possible in xi?
    I will not say that it is impossible, because I have a feeling that it can be achieved by using an OS command.
    If you see the option under Processing tab in your CC, there you will see "Run OS Command Before Message Processing". So may be you can write a script which will check if the same file is already present in target directory then don't pick the same file from source directory.
    At the other hand OS Command theory will fail if the same file was processed but it was deleted from the target directory because in that case script will have no clue to check existance of same file and in that case it will allow the CC to pick the same file again.
    Try it and let us know.. (I don't have any experance in writing scripts or using OS command).  If you feed difficulties in using OS command then search sdn and for writing an script you can create another thread and ask your question.
