  • How does one print to a Large Format Network Printer in Adobe Reader X?

    I have just installed Adobe Reader X on a machine that previously had Adobe Reader 9 (I had to format the hard drive so this is a fresh installation).  When attempting to print to a large format Printer (36x24) across the network I cannot change the paper size.  Despite attempting to change the paper size to a number of different configurations Adobe X will not print anything but 8.5"x11.0" (which is the default paper size on the local printer).  I have tried making the network printer the default printer and that does not make any difference.  Everything worked fine with Adobe Reader 9 but not X.  Can anyone offer any suggestions?
    Also, I can print to both the local printer and the large format network printer fine through other applications.
    Thanks.
    Ben

    Just finished testing 10.10 printing via a Windows 2008 R2 print share. I also found that when trying to add the printer using CUPS I would get an authentication error. But if I added the printer using the Windows section of the Add printer pane, then I was able to print fine.
    So with you mentioning that using the Windows section of the Add printer window has never worked (which is interesting because it's always worked for me) I want to suggest another approach to adding the printer, still using the Add printer window. With this window open you can right-click on the toolbar and select Customize Toolbar. You can then drag the Advanced icon to the toolbar. Then when you select this, you can set the Type menu to "Windows via spoolss" and then enter the URL as smb://servername/sharename. Select the supporting driver and click Add to complete.
    Then when you select to print for the first time using this printer you will be prompted to authenticate. Enter the account details, set the save to Keychain option and OK to send the print job.
    This worked fine for me and creates the same queue as using the Windows add printer setting. Curious to hear if this gets your co-worker printing again.

  • How do I change a Photobook created to "print locally" to a file that can be sent to Shutterfly?

    I created a photobook in photoshop elements 9 and selected "print locally".  Now I want to send it to a commercial printer and can't figure out how to do so.   I have checked with both Shutterfly and Costco, and they want each page sent as a separate picture....  How do I do that?

    Hi Margery J,
    You are correct, to use a commercial printer you will need to export them as individual pages. To do this, go to File --> Export Photobook:
    From there, a window will pop up: make sure "JPEG" is selected as the format and set your destination folder.
    Then click OK and you should be all set, your images will save to the selected folder. You can then upload the folder to Shutterfly, Costco or any other commercial printer to have it printed as a booklet.
    Please note that each commercial printer and service may have different quality or file format requirements.
    Here is a link to a helpful Shutterfly page about booklet printing requirements.

  • Time Stamp format from file problem

    Hey there,
    I have a pretty peculiar problem. I'm working on two PCs right now, one is my private laptop running on Windows 8, and the other one the PC at my workplace, running on Windows XP, but on the same version of LabVIEW. I use this method to save the time and date to a tab delimited .txt file. Then later, with another VI, I read the date and time written to file to reconstruct the time stamp. I've noticed that dates written to file from my workplace differ from the dates written from my private PC: in Windows XP, there are "-" separating the day, month and year. In Windows 8, it's "/". There are other differences (see pictures). So naturally, when reading from file using my VI, I can only read on my private PC files (or at least dates) written on my private PC and vice versa, I can't read files written on my private PC on my workplace PC. Can anybody tell me why there's a difference in format, or how to write the date uniformly so I can read it on any PC, or how to read both formats?
    So this is the method I use for writing the time and date (the subVI only inserts a certain number of TAB characters).
    This is what it looks like on Windows 8
    This is what it looks like on Windows XP
    This is the VI (attached) I use to read the time stamps (the first row actually contains the time stamp in HH:MM: SS format for a whole bunch of measurements).
    Have a nice day.

    I would suggest using the ISO-8601 UTC format.
    The only limitation is that the string value is in reference to GMT.
    The conversion of the string back to a timestamp will present the date/time on your front panel indicator as local time.

  • HELP - How to Convert Date in GMT to Local time in Applet

    Hi All
    Is there a way to convert a date from GMT format into a local time say IST in my Java applet, this GMT date is coming from a postgresql database.
    Thanks in advance
    Swaraj

    Try this with your customization:
    java.text.SimpleDateFormat format0 = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss");
    java.text.SimpleDateFormat format1 = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy/MM/dd HH:mm:ss");
    java.util.Calendar cal0 = Calendar.getInstance(new SimpleTimeZone(0, "GMT"));
    java.util.Calendar cal1 = Calendar.getInstance(new SimpleTimeZone((int)(5.5*60*60*1000), "IST"));
    format0.setCalendar(cal0);
    format1.setCalendar(cal1);
    java.util.Date date = format0.parse("2003-01-25 00:15:30");
    java.lang.String formatted = format1.format(date);
    System.out.println(formatted);

  • How to send local e-Invoicing format as Idoc

    Dear sirs,
    I would like to ask you about a translation of a local e-inv format into the Idoc.
    What are the problems:
    - this standard was published by a local government and probably is not compatible in any other format used by "ordinary" (adn sane) SAP people
    - this standard appears in two version: I can get the invoice as XML file or as a ZIP archive which consist of the XML file and the attachments
    - the processing should be asynchronous and we´re expected to use IDocs
    I wonder:
    - how can I send the Idoc with attachments? I am not aware of anything like this
    - if that is not possible (most likely) how would you solve the requirement with as little effort as possible? Would you send the ZIP into ABAP and process it in the ERP system? Some proxies? Or can you come up with some way how to achieve the same? Because I don´t understand how can I send&attach the attachments to the backend where the Idoc didn´t have to be processed yet and I don´t have a document number to associate the files with.
    Hope I don´t ask a crazy question:))
    thank you for your time and effort, regards Otto

    in case your landscape has PI then go for an ABAP proxy
    some inputs can be found here - /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2006/04/19/xi-rfc-or-abap-proxy-abap-proxies-with-attachments

  • Convert system time into User local time.

    Hi,
    How to convert System time into User Local time.
    Are there any FMs available.
    Regards,
    Kiran

    hi,
    There is just one simple funda behind the Date and time logic in SAP.
    -> It is absolutely useless to store Date and time directly in DB. Why ?
    Because 00:00 a.m in London could mean 05:30 in India !! So If I (in India) store a Date 1st Feb 2008 , 10:00 a.m .. This time for a person in London could be invalid.. because he is behind your time zone..
    So the solution is to store the date/times in Timestamps format. Taking the above example.. 1st Feb 2008, 10:00 a.m (in India) will be stored as 20080201043000.
    This time if seen in German Time zone will look as : 1st Feb 2008, 05:30 a.m.
    Simple right
    -> In India we store date as DD.MM.YYYY while in other countries they store it as MM.DD.YYYY.
    The separator could be . or - or / .
    The date format is user dependent. I might prefer to store it as DD.MM.YYYY and you might want to store it as MM-DD-YYYY.
    System does not bother what your format is. It always stores in YYYYMMDD (8 Char)
    On screens if you want to display Date then it must always be shown in that users format who is seeing it. How to get this done ?
    DATA : lv_date(10) type c.
    write sy-datum into lv_date.
    So in LV_DATE variable the date will be stores in the users format.
    Simple right
    There are function modules that do the same. But normally we should avoid use of FM to make code simpler, short and easy... no complications at all ..
    You can use system variables sy-datlo (Local Date for Current User) and sy-timlo ( Local Time of Current User ).
    You can also use GET TIME statement.
    reward if useful,

  • Printer not selectable from drop down when printing any pdf file. Printer is available when printing any other file format.

    Client is running Adobe Acrobat X. When trying to print their Ricoh printer can not be seen in the drop down menu. The Printer was added locally and the printer can print any other file format.

    Your ps file should be good, the problem likely resides elswehere. Maybe in your acrobat install, distillers settings. what error did distiller give?
    Mine ran good and got a multi page document, here is a screenshot to help you troubleshoot.
    On mac go to system preferences / print and fax / and change your default printer if you have another option. I know sounds like this should not help, but there are problems like Illustrator for example not making .pdfs if you do not have a printer chosen or an old or corrupt .ppd assigned.

  • Free Oracle Driver gives GMT as if it were local time

    I am using v.9.2.0 of ojdbc14.jar.
    The client machine (where the JDBC driver is used) is set to Eastern Standard Time (EST).
    So that machine is 5 hours behind GMT.
    The database machine is set to PST.
    So that machine is 8 hours behind GMT.
    Via JDBC I send the following query from the client machine:
    select current_timestamp from dual
    I then perform:
    Timestamp ts = rs.getTimestamp(1);
    At 4:41pm EST (local machine time where the JDBC driver code is running), the following 2 lines of code:
    System.out.println("***" +ts);
    System.out.println("***" +ts.toGMTString());
    Gives the following 2 lines of output:
    ***2003-02-05 21:41:00.579
    ***6 Feb 2003 02:41:00 GMT
    The first line of output shows 9:41 pm EST.
    But that is not correct.
    It seems that the JDBC driver is lying to me...
    taking a GMT value and saying that it is EST (local time).
    I'm thinking that is the only way that the 2nd line of output would be what it is.
    The same problem also occurs when using i-Net's Oranxo driver for JDBC 3.0.
    Am I missing something here, or doing something wrong ?
    My JDBC code later feeds this incorrect value back to the driver to update a column in the database.
    Has anyone seen this problem before and gotten past it ?
    Currently, the only ways I see to get around it are:
    1. be able to figure out the database offset (difference between system time on the database machine and GMT), from my JDBC code so that I can make the adjustment in my code.
    OR
    2. be able to tell the database "this is GMT" when I give it a timestamp value to insert or update.
    Thanks for any help.
    Matt McGinty

    Hi Matt,
    Yes, I have encountered problems similar to the ones you are describing. I found that the cause was due to the fact that the JRE classes have "rules" regarding daylight savings time -- and try to adjust dates and times according to these "rules".
    What I did was to configure the default time zone so that it had no daylight savings times rules. This solved my problems.
    Using JDK 1.4.1_01, I run the following code -- on starting up the JVM -- that "initializes" the default time zone:
    [Please excuse the poor formatting of the below code -- I haven't figured out how to format code properly when posting to this forum, yet.]
    TimeZone l_defaultTimeZone = TimeZone.getDefault();
    int l_rawOffset = l_defaultTimeZone.getRawOffset();
    String l_id = l_defaultTimeZone.getID();
    SimpleTimeZone l_simpleTimeZone = new SimpleTimeZone(
    l_rawOffset,
    l_id,
    0,
    0,
    0,
    0,
    0,
    0,
    0,
    0);
    TimeZone.setDefault(l_simpleTimeZone);
    Hope this helps you.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Converting UTC dates to local time

    Hello all. I have some data I imported that has a date column containing dates spanning a number of years. The dates are in the UTC timezone.
    I need to display the dates in the local time zone that was in effect at the time. I've seen many fine examples of converting from one time zone to another. But I need it to be smarter than that. For example, date/times (this year) prior to 03/09/2008 2AM should display in EST (my zone in effect then), while date/times on/after then should display in EDT.
    Are there any Oracle built-in functions to do this, or will I need to gather the data of when daylight savings time begins/ends for the years I have dates and write my own function? I don't need help for the latter; I just don't want to reinvent the wheel. Also, I don't want to convert the data; I append to it regularly.
    Thanks for your help and consideration.

    Sergiusz, thanks again. When I added a very recent date, I saw the effect. But perhaps something is wrong with my local 10gR1 "play" database. It seems the DST start point is not correct. Should it not start showing -4 offset at row# 4? I didn't see a change until I added the last date. But I believe DST began on 3/9/2008 at 2am local, which is 7am UTC.

  • Converting timestamp from local time to UTC

    Is there a smooth way to convert a timestamp containing local time to UTC time?
    The statement:
    CONVERT TIME STAMP time_stamp TIME ZONE tz
    INTO [DATE dat] [TIME tim]
    [DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME dst].
    Consideres time_tamp to be UTC time and then tries to convert it to the time zone specified in tz. What I would like to have done is the opposite, to have time_stamp represent the local time and then convert it back to UTC.
    TIA!
    /Armin

    Hi Armin.
    Just turn your statement and you will be fine
    DATA: date TYPE sydatum VALUE '20070525',
          time TYPE syuzeit VALUE '173030',
          cet  TYPE tzonref-tzone VALUE 'CET',
          utc  TYPE tzonref-tzone VALUE 'UTC',
          tstp TYPE timestamp.
    CONVERT DATE date TIME time INTO TIME STAMP tstp TIME ZONE cet .
    The output will be 15:30:30 at 25th of May 2007.
    I used CET as example, just use the timezone your date is representing. The result is formatted as UTC.
    Actually if you only have the timestamp, for this solution you have to convert it into date/time first.
    Use
    CONVERT TIME STAMP tstp TIME ZONE utc INTO DATE date TIME time.
    to do so.

    Timo.

  • Cannot print locally on OfficeJet Pro 8610, but I can print via web service

    Hello,
    I just installed an OfficeJet Pro 8610 with the downloaded install. I found my printer on the local wireless network and it connected. I cannot print anything from my Windows 8 HP laptop! I print from Word (or anywhere) and I says completed, but nothing prints. I can even see the print spool and it looks like it goes through, but nothing prints. I even tried direct USB connection with the same problem.
    I can however print from the web using the ePrint (email to the printer), but that is impractical.
    This is a weird problem.
    I had a friend connect using their computer and it worked (wirelessly) and I can even print from my iPhone locally.
    This points to the HP laptop - I have removed the printer, reinstalled the drivers, ran all windows updates, reboted (computer and printer) multiple times and the same problem persists.
    Please help - very frustrated and ready to return the stupid printer.
    This question was solved.

    IT WORKED!!!!!!!!
    Thank you so very much! Now I can get back to work!

  • Calculate local time based on timezone offset

    I am sure this question has been answered many times. but if you can explain me how to calculate local time based on the timezone offset.
    for instance, I am in central time zone. but i want to display local pacific time on my page. I have the timezone offset as -420 minutes.
    Thanks in advance.
    KM

    given a database table tzdata composed of time zone names and tz offset
    i want to be able to display the corresponding Date / Time of each country
    based on the time zone offset .
    in the offsets i posted above i found things like +10.5 ,-1.2 ect..
    how to convert those into the correct format so i can feed it to SimpleTimeZone() construtor ?Why would you want to?
    I am just pointing out here that java already has all those timezones and offsets configured into it. As well as if/when DST applies.
    String[] zones = TimeZone.getAvailableIDs();
            for (int i=0; i<zones.length; i++){
              System.out.println("Zone " + i + " = " + zones[i] + " offset = " + TimeZone.getTimeZone(zones).getRawOffset());
    In other words this database table is reinventing the wheel.
    You just need to tell Java which Timezone you want (according to the standard names for timezones begin Region/City) and it will work out the correct offset.
    eg
    for Afghanistan: new TimeZone("Asia/Kabul");
    Albania: new TimeZone("Europe/Tirane");
    Cheers,
